Terrible experience tried to sign my daughter up for afterschool care sent all required documents and the childcare person jana viets gave me the most trouble i ever had to deal with i just moved to torrington from rhode island im apart of the susan b anthony house I just started a new job and was unable to get childcare so i actually was let go of my job because of this everytime I thought I was all set jana called me asking for something else for my childs epi pen which was given to her and all of the CT forms were properly filled out by my childs DR it just seemed like it wasnt appropriate for her to be questioning a liscensed MD she was very rude and unhelpful I decided to actually enroll my child elsewhere & when I showed up for all of my childs documents their was actually somebody yelling out the top window to go back where I came from yelling racial slurs at me and my child I will be filing a formal complaint on this ymca because I felt like it was just complete discrimination and when i did call the supervisor he actually gave me the cold shoulder I will never recommend sending your child here they dont seem to like people of my kind I am a cape verdean women I have a medical degree & I should have not had to go through this at all just horrible experience espcially for somebody who just moved to torrington!!

I was wondering if I could use dead wheights and machines ,lat , leg curls, leg press, cables, and squat racks , that kind of equipment. I'm not into tread mills, bicycle, elliptical, tanning salons. I'm looking for old-school gym equipment based gyms. Is this that kind of gym?

October and November 2023 I
attended several classes at the Torrington, CT location. You must register for the no-cost classes also, this can be easily done online. Instructors Alejundra and Beth were both professional yet caring and personable. They both offered variations to exercises so one can accommodate any physical conditions and/or limitations. Everyone staff and volunteers I encountered offered encouragement and kind positive words. Members of any YMCA location are welcome at this facility with a limit to the number of visits allowed per month. I recommend this location if you are in the area.

I just moved to Torrington and I was looking for a pool that had family swim time to go do my "in water training". I was baffled when the lady at the front desk told me that I needed to pay 50$/month just to be able to enjoy the family swim and ONLY the family swim once or twice a week. This is more expensive than any other gym I have been to.
The schedules for the family swim are hard to get. They’re not advertising the same schedule online and on the premises and they’re not even the same as what the lady told me during the full tour of the place. Also, how can this be a family swim time if 2/3 of the pool is covered with the lap lane bouey and the other 1/3 is reserved for the kids ninja/parcour/whatever training. They are basically telling me to pay 50$/month to use a lap lane to swim casually. This is totally ridiculous and not to mention very confusing and unfair. The staff seems friendly and the place is overall clean. Not planning on ever going back again tho, not for that insanely high price, that’s for sure. How can this place be considered as a community non-profit organization? I have no idea but something I very wrong in their price chart.

The audacity of the daycare organization is amazing. They tell you Sunday night, that starting tomorrow they will be closed for at least a week due to a covid case, forcing you to scramble to make plans.....and will CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOU FOR THEY WEEK THEY ARE CLOSED! YES WE HAVE CLOSED AND ARE FORCING YOU TO ADJUST TO US BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY US.

My daughter Sophia has attended ninja camp, and is currently attending Torymca. The instructors for Ninja camp were absolutely awesome. Ninja instructor Rob you can tell that he absolutely loves what he does. Also Ninja Nasim is very outgoing, friendly and I can tell the kids really like him. I hope I spelled his name right if I didn't I'm so sorry. The camp Sophia is in now she absolutely loves being in. I think it is great that there is sports, cooking and a talent show. She was so excited one day she came home and said she made pudding and another day macaroni and cheese. She is currently set to participate in a talent show. The staff is bubbly and friendly. I have addressed concerns, as they have also. And together we are working to address minor issues. Even all the way up to management, administration, finance everybody has been terrific. Communication lines are always open which is a huge Plus in any facility. I will definitely be sending Sophia here again next summer as well as my son who will be five he will also be attending. Overall nothing but positive experiences.

I came to ask for classes, prices and start day for my son and young kid working at the desk couldn't help me because he didn't know the answers of my questions and a staff next to him looked confused as well i got frustrated like it was a simple question of what classes are available for my son. This location definitely need more educated staff to represent or answer questions.

Been coming here for years and never had a complaint. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. However, recently I've been going to another club during my time back home due to them being basically shut down for an entire week. I went in yesterday to get a day pass for the weight room and was told the pool, gymnasium, weight room, and treadmills were all closed. Why even unlock the door if nobody can do anything in there? When everything is in order its not a bad place to go but I promise you there are better places to spend your money.

Nice staff. Good equipment for my needs; would be nice to have a couple of newer exercise bikes and treadmills, but not a big gripe. Availability of basketball court, pool, and raquetball court provides good value for membership price.

Horrible the only YMCA that yo had to be 13 years old to walk around tge facinity by yourself and the staff at the front desk with an ugly attitude stating "Im sorry young man but YOU have to be 13 to walk around the facinity by yourself"🙄🙄like that is so annoying to go for the first time then get an attitude for no reason😡🙄

I'm new to the area so I made a visit to this YMCA location. I had a terrible first impression due to the gentlemen Bernie that was at the front desk. He came across to be very bothered with my few questions regarding membership. He continued to show his frustration about having to stay late because another employee was late to their shift. When I was finally able to get passed the front desk it was a little better experience from when I was dealing with Bernie. The weight room, basketball court, and locker room were everything I needed. Unfortunately because I had such an unpleasant, unwelcoming experience with Bernie, I will never make an appearance to this gym again. Since then I have signed up at another local gym.

I have been a long time YMCA member and visited many clubs throughout the country, this is the first one that would not let me bring a guest. I am entitled to bring two guests per month according to my agreement and the gentlemen named Bernie at the front desk was very rude and was not able to give me a consistent answer as to why other YMCA locations allow this and they do not. The unfortunate part about this whole situation is that this is my local club. I most likely will be terminating my membership with the YMCA and going to another locally owned gym that is willing to accomodate their members a little better.
