I believe PSW is one of the best overall gyms in Hartford County. I’ve been training and using various gyms for over 19 years, and this has been the best experience I’ve had. The equipment covers everything you could possibly need, no matter what type of training you’re doing. The environment is welcoming for everyone, whether you’re experienced or just starting your fitness journey. Lastly, Mike, the owner, and his staff genuinely care about the members, and it shows in every interaction.

Had the pleasure of training at PSW during my internship in Hartford this past summer, and I miss it already. This gym is a perfect example of an ideal training space, management is friendly and helpful, members pitch in to keep the equipment neat and tidy, and owners invest time and money into ensuring they have the best machines from each brand. They have calibrated plates, power bars, and specialty bars for powerlifting, every bodybuilding machine you’d need, heavy dumbells, and a really nice turf area. Membership pricing is a steal for what you get, I can’t recommend this gym enough.

Plainville Strength and Wellness is a hidden gem. I have been working out most of my life and finding the right gym can be tough! Plainville Strength and Wellness has the best quality and variety of equipment and it is beautifully maintained. This is a serious gym for people who are serious about their fitness. The space is large and well organized with equipment you will not find anywhere else! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the patrons know gym etiquette! I vetted many gyms before finding Plainville Strength and Wellness and I am so happy I kept looking until I found them! I absolutely love it and I’m so happy to have found a gym of this caliber for such a good price! It’s a really special place and I am so grateful to have discovered them!

Extremely clean gym, well kept, great environment. For my powerlifters, unfortunately there are no combo racks, but there are TSS squat stands and TSS benches. But there are plenty of OPB’s and Rogue calibrated pound plates.

PSW is the best gym in the area. Bar none. Owners buy the newest and best equipment that surrounding competition just cannot keep up with and the overall sense of community is unlike anything you see in big-box gyms. I formerly competed in Strongman competitions and this is the only gym locally that offers Circus dumbbells, sandbags, yoke, sleds, farmers handles, tires, kegs, axle barbells, wagon wheels, etc.(!!!) That, whilst also catering to a strong powerlifting crowd with competition racks and a TON of squat racks, a prominent bodybuilder community, a fantastic Oly team (Pat is the man), and choreographed group classes for those who just aren't sure what they want to do. This gym rules. PS - Theres a giant Gym dog. That is all.

This gym has ruined other gyms for me. I moved from plainville over a year ago. Tried going back to my old gym in Waterbury. Felt like a major downgrade from PSW. Now I commute here. It’s definitely worth the trip.

Absolutely one of the best gyms I have ever been a member of. I started at PSW when my CrossFit gym closed. I quickly felt right at home with the friendly staff, great workout community environment and equipment. I needed a gym where I had access to modern gym equipment, but at the same time a large turf area where I could continue my CrossFit work outs, in addition I needed platforms to be able to do my Olympic lifting. Well PSW has it all. They also take it upon themselves to promote your IG fit page wether you do it to share your growth, for fun or are a personal trainer because they care about their members. Prior to joining I had to be a member at both a CrossFit gym and a commercial gym to get both and was paying a lot more for it. If you are looking for a great gym you should definitely checked them out, you won’t regret it. Really miss them and am struggling finding a new gym in the state I’m in that matches their vibe.

Overall a great gym with a great staff and just about anything you'd need for most workout routines. I do wish that they had more cardio equipment (traditional treadmills and bikes instead of self-powered treadmills) but those are minor complaints. I'd recommend PSW to anyone.

Joined about a week ago and I’m glad about my decision. They let you have a free pass for 7 days before committing, and they have every piece of equipment and attachment you can think of. The staff are friendly and helpful and everything I want to use is always available. Military friendly as well. Definitely the best gym I have ever been too

A gym for people who like going to the gym. Every toy you could imagine with more added all the time.
There’s loud music, lots of iron everywhere, weights dropped often and even some grunting… but it’s also clean, and everyone is very welcoming of all abilities / genders / body types / etc. The atmosphere is very friendly and encouraging with people greeting each other. However, plenty of people do their own thing and that’s respected as well.
As a woman I feel very comfortable coming here. Ladies this should tell you what you need to know: I’ve never once received unsolicited advice on my form, even on days I definitely deserved it :).

It’s a great gym. The women’s locker room is clean and full of inspirational quotes. Management and front desk staff are professional. A beginner might feel intimidated here, but, I’m sure the staff would show you anything you’re unsure about. Definitely a great gym for all levels of fitness.

I know Mike since the day he opened AM fitness, due to distance ive tried other bootcamps, but nothing can replace Mike's training and enthusiasm for his career and helping people out. He is very knowledgable and shares his knowledge with his trainees.Absolutely recommend this place. My family and I are new to Plainville and we’re interested in signing up for a gym membership. My wife and I went into there establishment to look at the equipment and inquire about membership prices. The first employee we came across was extremely rude and answered our questions with 1 word answers. Then the Boss or owner must have been having a bad day because he was worse than his employee. Again he seemed too busy to greet potential members. He dismissed us as if he didn’t care and walked away yelling at someone on his phone. The employee laughed and walked away. The boss/owner wasn’t professional and neither was his employee. I will never step foot in there again. GO ANYWHERE BUT THIS PLACE!!!

The equipment in PSW is unreal. Nearly every week or so they add another major piece, they're always looking for new ways to expand to create the most space and are constantly looking to improve the facility.

Forgot your headphones? No problem! The music is always BUMPIN and motivating.

Warmer days are coming and they have a nice garage door that gets opened frequently which just a cherry on top for any gym in my opinion.

The staff is AMAZING AND EDUCATED. They are knowledgeable about calisthenic workouts, and how to safely and properly. I’ve been a client of the owner (Mike Harland) for a few years now and I eagerly joined his new Gym (Plainville Strength and Wellness). The cleanliness is above and beyond especially during this pandemic that we are in. You always see a staff member going around cleaning machines and equipment. Speaking of machines, there are machines that no other gyms have, there are Platforms for powerlifters and a zero gravity treadmill! I’ve know that I loved being a member here but it didn’t touch my heart till tonight. I’ve recently gone temporarily blind in my right eye and during my Performance training with owners and coach Harland, he literally put my hand on the bar or my hand on the weights because I was unable to locate these things on my own. The other coaches and staff members genuinely care about my well-being and vision. Never expected this type of help or service but at the same time being a member of Plainville Strength and Wellness I shouldn’t be surprised.
