Equipment is kept clean, and the staff is very friendly up on check in. If you hit off-peak hours there's access to any machine you could possibly want, and the music was fun but not distracting in volume or style.

I've been a member for over a year equipment that breaks rarely gets fixed and if it does it after
MONTHS (despite the random charges for “equipment”) not to mention the bulbs in the tanning beds are RARELY changed younger staff is usually very nice although they leave the desk to hangout in the closet? The manger is very difficult and not professional whatsoever and encourages staff to give people a hard time. The edge is definitely worth the extra money to not deal with the buffoonery. If I could give no stars I would.

Have been coming here since they opened. Ups and downs for sure. More downs lately than ups. Very difficult to get equipment fixed when it breaks down, sometimes months, over the last year. Gary keeps things pretty spotless and Joe and Dan are missed more than you know at 5am. Sydney and Nick are doing their best and still learning but it seems aren't being given all the help they need with their training. When asked if they could change a channel back to the station it's been on for the last 4/5 years they say they can't because no one has shown them how and they're not allowed to change it back. How about bringing in the person who changed it in the first place to change it back? It's been done a few time before so we all know it can be done again. That may seem petty to some but it is the ONLY NONE sports/ news station in the gym and many of us enjoyed watching the tv shows that were on television set TV #8 at 5am. Would I recommend this gym? I'd say try it for yourself, different things are important to different people. I would just appreciate mangement being a bit more helpful and accommodating to those of us who have been there for years.

Every time I’m here the treadmill just shuts off randomly 1-3 miles and tells me to cooldown. I have to restart the machine and start again. What makes this bad is every-time I’m going from a good steady speed to dead stop and I end up pulling something. It takes all this time to warm up to literally be shut off while I’m in the middle of it. 3 weeks so far this year I’ve spent on the couch in pain because of this. I’ve tried different treadmills. What a let down this has been. They make it impossible to cancel your membership and now I see why.

I’ve had a membership for years now and I did not like my experience today with one of the employees at this planet fitness. The employees name was Giana. She was unpleasant, rude, unhappy and gave me a hard time for bringing in my son today. She also after many years made me take my picture, never once has anyone asked me to do so. My husband comes to this location all the time and has brought his nephew and my son and was never given a hard time like Giana gave me. I pay for the black card membership for the last 5 years and this is the first time this miserable employee treated me this way.

They enforce the rules. As a woman I feel totally comfortable exercising in front of the men and am left alone to exercise. No leering or harassment. Also the cleaning crew does a great job. The place is very clean!

Definitely the cleanest Planet Fitness I have ever been to. Pride in ownership as the gym is immaculate, all equipment in great condition and only one piece was on maintenance shut down. Friendly staff makes you feel welcome, members are polite and friendly, and there is a Starbucks right in the parking lot!

Big location, all new equipment, helpful and friendly staff, and generally pretty quiet outside of peak hours (5-7pm Mon-Thu). They have many tanning beds (both standup and lay down), message chairs, and hydromassage for Black Card members to use. This location is well maintained, always clean, and members generally seem to keep things tidy (aided of course by the diligence of the staff). Absolutely worth working out at this location or making it your new home gym if you're nearby, want a gym with plenty of machines (weights & cardio), and want a more relaxed environment.

One area for improvement is that one (or sometimes multiple) Smith machines can be broken, often for weeks at a time. Faster equipment repair would really help, especially for patrons working out during the busier hours.

I exercise at Derby location. Good hours and location and large, airy facility. Recently, Some Equipment has been replaced with new pieces And interior painted. I would like to see 1 scale at front desk to weigh in. Don't want to record it but it's to check my intake and no better place than at a gym. Also, unfortunately there has not been a personal trainer for the past year every time I've asked. Yet, this is a benefit that the program advertises to offer.

I’m really not one to write reviews on places but today I had a really good experience!! I’ve been motivating myself lately to get back in the gym and struggle with developing a routine and although they don’t have a trainer, the employees still found a way to help me with my workout. I just wanted to say thank you to all the employees on staff today especially the employee who’s name started with a T ( I believe his name was Thomas but I’m not so sure) who pointed me in the right direction of the proper machines I wanted to use for my target goals. He went above and beyond to help me and that means a lot to me !! I will continue to choose this gym location since I have such a great experience everytime.

Worst experience with a gym. I cancelled my membership april of this year and I had no contract “hassle free” cancel anytime type of deal. They have been charging me monthly still I told my bank to block payments I’ve spoken to people from planet directly several times and they’re making me responsible for payments even tho I haven’t set foot in there since April their employee messed up on their end now I have to get a lawyer, avoid them like the plague.

I go at 5.00am I wish they open earlier. I go to the Derby CT one. There is an old guy that comes in that makes alot of noise. I think he thinks he owns the place. He also huffs and puffs while working out.
I chose Planet for there rules.
The cleaning guy walks around singing out loud.
It's annoying.
I think the young employees need to pay more attention.

My wife has been going to this gym (Derby) since it opened and other Planet Fitness locations before that for the last 15 years. I joined 2 years ago because it was closer to home than the Edge in Shelton. Over all it's a good gym. The down sides are, it takes far too long to get equipment fixed (some machines over 3 months, as well as televisions which are still out of service, and yes, the poor people at the front desk keep hearing about it) and the hours. When it was open 24 hrs everyone loved it and there would be a group of us who would come in at 4am which worked well because some of us had to be to work at 7 and it gave us time for a full work out and the ability to get to work on time. We all understood after covid 24 hours might have been to costly and made due with shorter workouts (now that it doesn't open until 5am) although not happily. What we would TRULY APPRECIATE NOW would be if you opened at 6am on the weekends instead of 7am. For those of us who want to get in and get out in the early morning this would be a god send since the weekends are the only time some of us have off and we want to get our work outs out of the way first thing. Please, please, please can't you change the hours on Sat & Sunday since you've already cut our time durning the week???

This location is a bit small, but clean. We were able to comfortably workout. So that was a plus.

The staff will give you a slight head nod on entry and exit, but aren't the friendliest bunch over experienced. The music is a bit overwhelming but wasn't too bad near the treadmill. Overall it isn't the worse gym I've been to but not my favorite either. I'll go if my normal location is closed.

My Planet fitness is nice because when I go it's never really crowded thanks to the feature on the app that lets me know how crowded the gym is. I love that feature cause I don't like to go when it is crowded! Most people were wiping down their equipment when they were finished with is very important to me!

Tired of waiting for people who are on there phones on a machine I want to use. Get your reps in and get off the machine! the lounge is up front if you want to be on your phone. We have approached Associates regarding this behavior in the past with no results.
