I'm not from this state or this city. Today was my first visit because of my job; I visit many Planet Fitness locations in our state. To those who are undecided, I 100% recommend it. It's the best investment you can make for your health. I've seen results since I joined Planet Fitness in 2022. It's very clean, organized, has a great amount of equipment, a second floor, and a very large parking lot. Greetings!

My favorite place for a workout. It is a good neighborhood and has a lot of parking. Staffs are helpful. However, they always have something broken, and even a tiny problem takes forever—for instance, their water fountains. Out of two water fountains, one is not working, and another works partially.
Except for that, it's very clean and proper place for a workout.

Im not new to the gym scene. Although it is convinient for me and the staff is friendly. Its not the main reason i come to a gym. I come to work out. Often times i find myself having to wait for equipment because they dont have enough of a certain machine. Although its packed with treadmills and stairclimbers and other cardio equipment, it lacks machines such as scott curls, ab equipment is very scarce. Weighs are all over the place not as they should be kept, barbells only range to fifty pounds. The layout of the equipment is wrong if better sorted you can fit much more equipment in thos gym and turn it into a premier gym. I can go on and on about things ive noticed but i believe ive said enough. This message goes to the people who run this gym... Step it up and put more equipment in there. It really needs it. Take out some of the cardio or place it all on the second floor and reorganize the first floor so you can get essential equipment that os missing.

I am visiting this location for the first time and wanted to used the massage chair, it was hard for me as I am an elder client and didn't understand the chair. I went to the reception desk and the African American brother had an attitude instead of coming to help me he kept on telling me to push the button, again it was my first time here. He finally came after I asked him if he thinks I am begging him. I actually pay to come here. I will not come back here due to the horrible reception I received.

Two floors. The first floor is open for the most part and has a few well sectioned areas to allow for a little privacy. The upstairs is a great use of space also. I wish it was open later.

Had a horrible experience @ Planet Fitness East Haven CT. I made a complaint with staff and was ignored waiting to hear back from HIGHER UPS (HQ) i know they are individually owned (Katz family) I believe. Let see what happens. I experienced some racism and needed to defend myself ( not physically) as an American and I get my membership canceled and kicked out. Plus they owe me $$$ now.

Planet Fitness has this chill, friendly vibe—though let’s be real, nobody’s there to chat, just to get their sweat on. The place is squeaky clean, and surprise, surprise, they’ve stocked it up with all the shiny new machines you could want. Sure, it gets a bit crowded in the evenings—feels like half the city showed up—but hey, it’s all part of the fun. The staff? Super friendly, but they mostly keep to themselves, like gym ninjas. Honestly, if they were a bit more chatty, I’d have given it a perfect score, but for now, it’s a solid 9 out of 10!

I’m loath to write this review cause the gym is actually decent. I pay like 10 bucks a month to pick something heavy up and then put it back down a few times.

What is mind blowing is that I have to jump through 3-4 automated prompts before I can simply talk to the front desk when I call.

Now usually I can understand as businesses just don’t staff their places like they used to - such is life. But there is NO business on earth more overstaffed than a planet fitness. Seriously, I’ve been going for 10 years and have never needed anything from the staff, despite there being 5 people sitting around.

So the notion that these staff members are too busy to pick up the phone and I can’t just call and get the front desk immediately is abhorrent.

Beware of this Planet Fitness East Haven CT gym. They engage in questionable billing practices. This gym incorrectly billed my credit card twice for the same month even though it was their employee's error for not properly updating the system with my new payment information (see attached pictures of double billing). Despite meeting their manager Monica P. on another visit in person, explaining the issue, showing her my credit card statements with the paid charges and getting reassurance from her that they would rectify their fee error in their system, they kept billing me incorrectly. Front-desk employees are not properly trained to update the system regarding payment information. I had already paid for this month and their employee told me that I could not use their gym unless I pay another incorrectly billed late fee despite showing their employee that PF already charged my credit card twice for the same month. I have gone twice in person to cancel my membership before the 25th of the month, yet they refuse to cancel my membership and keep double-billing me. Beware of the Planet Fitness East Haven gym!

I’m not the type to make negative reviews but this situation needs to be looked into.

Ive been a customer for over 13 years (since 2011) here at the planet fitness East haven store. I’ve never had an issue until yesterday (08/05/2024). I walk in and scan my card as usual to workout. Jemelis, the young lady working the front desk, told me there’s a problem with my account, it has been cancelled since 07/16/2024. I did not cancel my account at all. When I asked if Jemelis can check why my account would be cancelled and who authorized the cancel I was given immediate attitude and was told that they cannot check or do anything to help the situation. After 5 minutes of going back and forth asking for a manager finally Jemelis picked up the phone and called Monica Prewitt. Jemelis walked away and had a brief conversation with Monica before putting her on speakerphone the first words I hear out of Monica were “…just call the police on him…” I was astonished that a manager would result to calling police on a loyal customer without even speaking to them or asking them what the problem is that they are having at Planet Fitness.
After leaving the gym I immediately called the online number and reached the billing department. I described to them the incident I just had and they checked my account. They informed me there is nothing wrong with my account, it is active. The billing departing had a conversation with Jeremelis over the phone and connected me in after. I was told by Jemelis to come back to the gym, they figured out the issue, I just need a new scan card and I am free to workout.

This whole situation could have been easily resolved if the staff were properly trained. Monica Prewitt and Jemelis are extremely rude, unprofessional and should not be in the positions they are holding if this is how they treat customers. If I hadn’t been a member for so long I would have taken my business elsewhere.

It’s just okay. The quality of the gym has declined. A lot of the machines are starting not to work. And idk what’s going on with letting people work out for free for weeks when members still have to pay a full membership fee. We should have our payment discounted. Staff are respectful, try their hardest to remember everybodys name, always greeted and dismissed. Anytime I have a question or a concern they're quick to address it. Monica your manager started before I had closed my account the first time and was very considerate of my situation in explaining to me the best time to sign up for the second time. Dan the assistant manager should NOT be apart of their management team or club team at all for all that matters. Dan is completely rude and condescending towards guest. I called him for a personal matter in my account and he showed absolutely no respect or regard for me being charged for 5 months after cancellation. The place is clean, and the staff is friendly. But there are issues that make the experience imperfect. One of the water fountains, for example, has been “temporarily” out of order for months. Another issue is the lack of a balanced distribution of tools and weights across the gym. For instance, there are two racks of light weights but only upstairs. Those weights are not only 5, 15, 15, and so on and are instead 3, 5, 8, 10, 12.5, etc, which make them more useful to me (a female with very weak arms). But since all other equipment that I use is located downstairs, it feels inconvenient to be if it is from the weights upstairs.

After being a member for 18 years, I quit in October 2023. I don't recommend this gym if you need a quick workout.
Staff doesn't know and doesn't enforce the rules of the 30-Minute Workout Zone. In addition, the staff doesn't support those members who use the zone and follow its rules. People are allowed to hog the machines. They sit for 10-15 minutes (or longer) checking their phones instead of rotating according to the traffic signal.
Such practices rendered this gym useless to me.
Update: on October 28, 2023, I terminated my membership. However, on November 17, I was charged again. What a dysfunctional place!

East Haven location is 24hrs mon-fri and I absolutely love that. They also have a trainer that you can schedule a session with and have plenty of equipment and amenities for everyone. Staff is always friendly and the building/equipment is always clean.
