I was a member from 2023-August 2025. I was a college student that only used this gym when I was home on breaks. Upon moving cities, I attempted to cancel my membership on August 31st. It did not get cancelled, and I was charged for September. When I called to ask for a refund, I was not able to get it because "my attempt to cancel was not documented".

Moral of the story: when it is time to leave planet fitness and move on to bigger and better things, you need to be so aggressive about making sure your membership is cancelled. The normal employees don't care to actually make sure it is cancelled or document that they tried. The manager Ben will apologize and let you know that he will keep you updated on the decision from this upper entity that does billing, but he will not.

And for any other college students, freeze your membership when you are away! I didn't even know that was something I could do until my last conversation with anyone from this organization. I have given them so much money over the years, more than I should have. The second you are able to invest in a gym that is actually good, you should.

HORRIBLE!!!! Wouldn’t recommend my worst nemesis there ! It’s horrible it’s small staff are rude ! I went in and asked for my membership to be cancelled due to medical reasons and I was having surgery but instead they asked me for my medical documentation then when I brought the paper in they said it was cancelled then I continued to be charged every month without notice when I did notice the lady told me that I couldn’t cancel unless I came in or wrote a letter I asked for my money back she said the manager was no where to be found ? Ok so hopefully corporate will catch this or some how but don’t go here yet to mention I just canceled online I should’ve looked from the beginning but I trusted humans horrible mistake!

I go to this gym regularly, and I’m disappointed by how dirty it is.

The treadmill I use daily is coated in white dust, along with many others.

I opened a random locker and could write my name in the dust. The floors and corners are also dusty and neglected.

I mentioned it to the front desk and was told “we clean every day,” but that’s hard to believe.

It’s clear they haven’t been cleaned in a long time.

I come here every so often when I'm in the area. Nice gym. Unique building setup makes it fun. Good range of newer cleaner equipment massage beds and chairs.

The staff is nice and personable not robotic like some areas.

I will say... this is the only PF gym I go to where the weights are routinely not reracked off the bars and where the dumbells are put back completely out of order. Its like the people coming here don't care as much. Only at this gym.

I started working out at this location over a year ago. You can tell the manager Ben has trained his employees great! A good manger sets the bar for great employees and that shows.
Teri always has a smile on her face and is so inviting. She goes out of her way to spark a great conversation with anyone. She gave me a great tour of the gym on my first day, and answered all the questions i had.
The bathrooms and workout equipment are always so clean. You always see the employees staying on top of the cleanliness.

Great gym in Guilford, CT. Could not ask for more. Clean, friendly, new gym equipment, which I think they bought several years ago. It has off-peak hours if you don't like it too crowded. Plenty of space; massage chair; tanning bed; it's very large and has a lot of excellent equipment and a wonderful variety of machines.

The smallest of the gyms definitely. The staff has its good and bad. Some very good at making it around and checking the paper towel dispensers and some just sit there on their phones and do nothing. The place can use a good cleaning and sanitizing. The morning is the silver sneaker gang and the afternoon is loaded with teen boys just standing around in groups of 5 or more doing nothing but yapping. Even the locker room is like a high school. Bunches of kids just sitting there on the phone ( not allowed and not enforced).

I'm so disappointed in your decision to give away free summer memberships to 14 - 19 yr old's. The gym is now impossibly busy at all hours and become a health hazard/petri dish of unmasked teens. I also believe that giving away something for free to one age group that you make another age group pay for is a discriminatory practice. You are penalizing your paying customers. I feel like I lost my gym.

NOMADS - the parking lot is pretty compact so I would be careful bringing rigs larger than 22ft into this space. The bathroom had 3 shower stalls, and 2 toilets and a small changing area. I was able to get a decent shower with excellent water pressure medium warm water. The service folks were very friendly and the bathrooms smelled nice. I arrived at about 8pm at night. I liked how the shower had a changing space connected to the stall.

First things first, a handful of the staff is very friendly to new/returning members to Planet fitness and are helpful in many ways to assist and clean up around the facility. The facility is a decent size, little warm but not awful, and has a fair amount of equipment/resources for members to access. However.... what rates this planet fitness poorly are the members that attend it!!! Egotistical individuals will stroll right in, using 3-4 machines at a time without sparing a glance at the several cleaning stations provided to wipe down the equipment they've used!! Some members must think they're above this pandemic and the safety of others...but for those that respect social distancing and wiping down their equipment as well as the others who don't want to. Thank you so much!
Final thoughts, for those of you who are at an increased risk of receiving the virus. Please try and use another facility that keeps all equipment clean and avoid this specific location.

I’ve been going to this Planet Fitness since December 2019, and I’m there on a daily basis in the morning. The gym is immaculate and they just upgraded the locker rooms. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the manager Kevin is available and has been great to connect with.

I have been in and out of gyms most of my life and this has been a very positive and welcoming facility with people of all ages and ability.

No one wears a mask and cleans after themselves. Social distancing while was a decent attempt, basically rendered the gym useless as they didn’t have enough machines and benches even before the pandemic. They don’t schedule visitors and don’t follow maximum capacity, so it’s free for all. There are better organized gyms around that are actually doing deep cleaning every day and don’t let anyone without a mask, doing otherwise is ridiculous.

If I could I would rate below 1 star I would. The manager is in dire need of training. The staff clean and constantly check garbage and dispensers while manager talks on cell and disappears. Major personility problem lacking in etiquette, as well as, people skills. Manager is just doing time and punches out. Owner needs to complete a close audit of manager's performance and take employee/customer feedback seriously. Experience says time for a change in management to someone who wants to be a manager of a fitness gym passionate about fitness and helping people. Been going to the Guilford location the last weekn or so since my home gym is being remodeled. This is smaller than my regular gym, but has plenty of newer equipment. Only issue I have is that its too hot in there. 72-75 degrees is a bit to warm to work out in... maybe its just me... dunno.

It was so hot in there that I could not breathe. There are no fans, no moving air and it was very heavy and stale air. By the timeI left, it felt like the air conditioner came on but it was too late and I left wheezing. The staff was friendly and the equipment was clean and new but otherwise it was nothing but problems. The arc trainer that I got on was too far away from the TVs so I only got two channels. I never found the rest of the art trainers. The locker room was very small and cramps as well. The biggest problem though was the air quality.

A staff member was rude to my husband and I and needs to be trained to treat customers with respect when there is a miscommunication. She did not bother to speak to us with dignity or compassion when there was a problem she quickly made us aware of. She made us feel embarrassed and showed no remorse or awareness of her abrasive attitude. We will be canceling our black card and taking our business where we are treated with kindness. My Sunday morning was ruined by this event.

I walked in w a gallon jug of water....yes I drink a lot of water. A staff member said to me I could not drink out of it in the gym. Amazing that the staff judges and did so to me this day. I felt so uncomfortable in this location. I got stares and side looks as I worked out. By the looks of the staff and patrons I guess they never seen a female body builder before.

I love that my local planet fitness finally updated their workout equipment! We have way more equipment options, including the assisted pull-up and dip machine—love, love, love!!
The one thing I wonder is—why, some days, do you have the ceiling fans on and, other days, you do not? It can get ridiculously hot in that gym on a busy Saturday or Sunday, so the fans being on is a welcome amenity! :)

I've been a PF-Guilford member since 2012 because it is the closest gym to my house. The fellow members are very friendly and the staff is great. The problem is the manager does not listen to customer concerns and does nothing to improve the customer experience. For well over 1 year, I've been asking why it's over 80 degrees in the gym, pretty much all year around. The heating/cooling system was supposedly fixed 4 or 5 times (which I was told) but it still feels like a sauna every time I visit. I wish the manager would take customer complaints seriously, so if you're looking for a gym that focuses on customer satisfaction, PF-Guilford will certainly disappoint.

As a new member of Planet Fitness I am truly amazed by the supreme level of Hospitality Christine the GM, Taylor and the rest of the staff have provided. As a working professional in the Hospitality Industry I am aware of the hardships being in the service industry has to offer. However it was so nice to walk in to a smiling and overly generous staff willing to answer questions and build amazing guest relationships. The facility is clean, well kept and intimate, making for a very customized experience when working on personal health goals.
Thank you so much to the staff and the amazing leadership of Christine. I am so proud to be a member of this incredible operation.

I am no longer a member at this gym. I transfered my membership from Branford when we moved to Guilford. I would not tolerate the poor condition of the audioconnections on all the ellipticals (permanently set on max volume). Even more unacceptable than the poor equipment was the utter inability or desire on the part of management to address the issue. I spoke with the head manager directly several times and got excuses and empty promises.

This is a good gym, the staff are very friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. It was recently expanded, so there's ample room for freeweights, 30-second workouts, and more. Tanning and massage beds for those who want them (Black Card membership required). My main beef is that since it's not the hugest gym sometimes the equipment gets in pretty rough shape, but they're pretty good about keeping on top of repairs.

ATR bought my membership and but after I was approved and told membership was ready and someone would call me Monday it never happened. When I finally drove over I was told it was miss communication
The manager rambled off a memorized speach quickly asked what size shirt and hastily threw a bunch of goodies in a bag and handed to me. Stoic and in a hurry to go about her business. Great facility for my needs which are basic. Cardio, weights/machines & out, but for those that want more, a black card membership offers massage chairs, UV booths, etc. I didn't look into all the benefits of Black card membership, so I would recommend a visit & talk to the friendly & competent staff. They do not offer sheduled group sessions like spin classes and such of which I have no interest. I just want to come & go on my own schedule & there has always been a treadmill, weights or other devices available. The clientele covers the full spectrum of age, gender, & condition from those that come in on crutches to tatooed brutes, so whoever you are you will fit in. Their moto is "judgement free zone." Showers & lockers are available. Also, there is an emphasis on sanitation with rolls of paper towels and sanitizing spray bottles throughout the facility, and finally, you can't beat the price!

I used to enjoy going to this facility, but a recent experience with the manager, Christina K., has soured my taste for the operations of this particular Planet Fitness. My experience: I enrolled with the $1.00 and $10.00 monthly fee in mid January of 2017. At the time, I specifically asked if there would be a yearly fee for membership. I was told 'No, just the $1.00 fee for the year.' Less than 2 months later, I was charged a 'Yearly Fee' of $41.48! Firstly, I hadn't even been there for 2 months! I attempted to contact the manager, Christina, on numerous occasions over the course of a week...at first I was told to 'Hold on', and then informed that she had left for the day-at 3:30PM when she arrived at 11:00AM? This is better than 'banker's hours', which are now much more than Christina's hourly shift!

I do not appreciate her 'bait and switch' tactics nor her clear avoidance of addressing the inquiry and resolution to the problem!

The desk staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful and cheerful. I do appreciate them and their efforts to make Planet Fitness, Guilford, Ct a positive place to come to. The clients I have met are warm and friendly. The facility, itself, is dirty and unkept, especially the women's locker room. Often, I would take a shower and there would be stray hair and empty bottles of shampoo in the shower stall. Three, (3), days later, the same hair and empty bottles would be there! Christina needs to address these issues as well as the inaccuracies of the marketing tactics that she has used. It would make a far better gym.
