I was a Black Card member at Planet Fitness for over a year, but I recently decided to cancel my membership due to a very poor experience. Last month, I had an issue with my card and was charged almost double the regular monthly fee as a late payment penalty. I understand there may be a fee for a missed payment, but charging nearly double for just 3 or 4 days of delay is unreasonable.

I tried to switch to the Classic plan to better fit my situation, but it was nearly impossible. I was told to do it through the app, but after multiple attempts, it simply didn't work. I went back in person, and they told me I'd have to pay $78 just to change my plan. Seriously? After being a member for over a year, recently paying the annual fee, and on top of that, an excessive charge the previous month — they still wanted to charge me just to downgrade my membership?

Overall, it was a very frustrating experience. They've lost a customer.

I started coming here mid-March to start working out. The place is really clean. Staff is friendly. 99% of the time, they'll greet you as you walk in unless they're dealing with a customer. They have staff that make rounds cleaning the entry door way, and locker rooms. People tend to mind their own. I wasn't sure in the beginning how I'd like the place, I enjoy it and have no regrets picking this gym!

The Planet Fitness in Torrington has upgraded their equipment. Everything is clean and in great condition. The staff is pleasant and there is plenty of equipment even when the gym is a bit busy. There's plenty of space for floor exercises or body weight exercises. I have a black card subscription and enjoy the privileges such as the hydro massage and the total body enhancement device.

It’s a Planet Fitness. So it’s purple, one of the machines is always broken, and they are gonna screw up and charge you fees that you don’t owe. What’s special about this location is that when go to deal with the issue, they tell you to call the billing department, the billing department will tell you that they can’t handle it, they then connect you with someone who can, and that person will wind up being the manager who told you to call the billing department in the first place. Classic Planet Fitness, sure it’s only $15 a month, plus the annual fee, and the fees that they charge you that you don’t owe. by the time they’re done, you would’ve been better off going to beyond ordinary fitness.

The new equipment is different and not easy to figure out. I don't feel that staff knows how to use the new equipment because they are not offering help. The stretching area can only fit 4 people. Not enough mats for people to use and the equipment is too close together, crammed in. The staff seems to be more interested in using their phones than cleaning the facilities. The bathrooms are filthy. Currently looking for another planet fitness, maybe Bristol. Or another gym all together. It's too bad it's gone down hill quickly.

I was about to join Planet Fitness for their Black Membership, but then I found out they require my checking account to be linked. Why would a fitness club think I want to link my checking account with their questionably secure database? Credit cards or cash aren't accepted anymore? Oh well, I'll go elsewhere. Good riddance!

UPDATE 2024: Place has really gone downhill. DIRTY and DUSTY everywhere. Just look around, it definitely does not get cleaned well. From 5 stars to 2 stars. Manager comes late all the time and obviously does care. I complained before straight to him and nothing is done.

This is the best gym around. The staff is so friendly and treats you like family. I've been coming here for years now. Every time I go, there are employees walking around and cleaning. Dave, the manager, is awesome , he is so friendly, accommodating, and works so hard to make sure the gym is clean and well running. I couldn't recommend this location more. I've been to lots of gyms in the area, and planet fitness is by far the best deal. The community is so welcoming, and the staff works so hard at this location.

I was there for my usual workout, which was roughly around half an hour to an hour and I have to say that the facility was very well cleaned and I did notice that there were free weights for one to use Should that be something they want. I would definitely recommend.

Apparent lack of leadership in this location. Always dirty , and broken equipment. Also , the second year of this free child daycare they offer pushed me away as the groups would hog entire sections of the gym. Hesitation to leave and join another nearby gym up the hill, but so grateful I did. Do yourself a favor and avoid this crumbling brand.

I love the Torrington Planet Fitness. The staff is helpful and kind no matter how many questions I have lol. The place is always clean, from the locker rooms, the tanning beds, and the hydro chairs, always spotless. My boyfriend and I have to go after work and we don't usually get there until about 11:00 pm and everything thing is still in tip top shape! I highly recommend this spot!

Rob in my location helps me with my exercises and is very knowlegeable. You need more people like Rob. He pushes me just enough for me to keep going and make progress, but not too much for me to give up and quit because it's too hard in the beginning. Please let him know about the good job he is doing. However I did not see any punchng bags, as a woman I think it would be very good for girls to learn and train using punching tools. Great deal, cheaper then club 24 with more machines, also surprisingly usually less busy, much more worth your money, no hidden fees, and they're open more hours, Planet fitness has 4 days they are open 24 hours, not at all like club 24 which closes at like 10 every night.

PF is nothing but a RIP-off. I signed for the black card benefits, that's supposed to be $19.99 but in reality I was paying $26.95. Not even 2 months after I started the Membership they charged me $47.65, annual fee on top of the $26.95, monthly fees. When I got tired of their charges, I cancelled my membership, they charged me $50.09 for commitment fees. I don't recommend PF to any body. YMCA has all the equipment they have at PF. Better yet, disabled vets, like me, get a discount and even an scholarship. Any disabled or elderly person gets that. So if you want to deal straight, without hidden fees and charges, I recommend you to go to your nearest YMC. PF is just a rip-off.

Gym is okay. Basic setup, lots of rules, even dress code for guys in tight shirts. The environment is very healthy for the average person but not a good gym for athletes and competitors. No grunting, who even knows what they mean by no intimidation for a gym/workout, no protein shakes. Staff more polite than most PF!

Finally getting back into regular workouts now that I'm vaccinated. I feel safe that everyone inside is masked, though some patrons don't wear masks properly so unvaccinated people may not feel safe. Facilities are clean and patrons all clean off their machines after use too. Employees always seem to be in a good mood and thus far have been helpful. I would give 5 stars if the showers were stalls with locking doors and hooks to hang bags instead of just cubicles with flimsy plastic curtains.
