So basically, I had seen that Planet Fitness had a deal with the Black Card, so I created an account. I did not create the account on the Planet Fitness app I created it on the website. When I tried to link the account I created, it wouldn’t connect, so I ended up making a second one. That means I accidentally made two Black Card memberships. I only meant to make one.

I called this location to cancel the first one, and the person told me I needed to come in person. I went in person that following Sunday to cancel the membership. The guy who supposedly canceled my membership clearly did not know what he was doing.

The next day I get double charged. I’m like, why? I already canceled one of the memberships. Then I get charged 2 days later again. That’s three charges so far. Then I get charged AGAIN two more times that Friday , that’s four charges in total.

So Monday I was double charged, Wednesday I was charged once, and Friday I was double charged again. That’s four charges in one week. Finally, I went on Friday because this is ridiculous. I only made the account a week ago why am I being overcharged? That’s already more than $60 they took from me. I’m not anybody’s bank. I clearly canceled one of the memberships.

The guy who “canceled” it also didn’t tell me that Planet Fitness processes bills early, which is supposedly why I got double charged on Monday. But when I spoke to the manager, he told me that the guy clearly did something wrong, didn’t know what he was doing, and was charging me late fees instead. HOW am I being charged late fees if I only made the account one week ago? That makes absolutely no sense.

The manager said he would give me three months free, and at first I accepted it. But then I came back the next day because I got charged again.

I explained everything to the two ladies there. I told them I wanted to cancel everything. I showed them all my bank statements showing how I was charged four times in one week, even though I had only had the membership for a week. How could I owe so much? Again, makes no sense at all.

She canceled the membership, showed me on the screen, and they sent documentation to my email confirming that the membership was canceled.

Now today, I see Planet Fitness is charging me $46. For WHAT? I literally canceled the membership.

The lack of training, the repeated wrongful charges, and the stress of having to go back multiple times shows that they do not know how to handle customers or money correctly.

After everything I’ve experienced here, I would never recommend this gym to anyone. It’s unprofessional, careless with your money. If they took large amounts of money out of there paychecks, those employees would be complaining and upset too.

Totally agree with baby girl . Bathrooms nastys , showers dirty equipment such as tanning beds nasty. Water fountain is broken more than it actually works. Machines constantly broken . Hydro bed broken . Shut down for two weeks charged members and here we are same conditions no improvement . Went to planet fitness in Milford and orange exceptionally clean ! Someone was cleaning bathroom when I got there and then again an hour later when I was leaving . In Waterbury you can find shit in the showers/bathrooms/lockers for over a week

I’ve been using this gym for a week as I am traveling for work. I use several PF gyms in other states and cities, but have never seen one run so poorly.

The paper towels are always empty. One section was empty for 3 days in a row. The ladies bathrooms are sometimes disgustingly unclean and the equipment needs pads replaced and for them to be cleaned.

You have no structure in this gym with people throwing weights, leaving things everywhere, and not cleaning machines. I waited 20 mins for a machine because people want to take them up “waiting for their friend” to finish up.

The amount of people sitting on machines and watching videos is crazyyyy and not working out.

They also turn the music off 30-45 mins early before they close to push you out. It’s run poorly and the girls at the front deak just walk around flirting with all the guys while they are “cleaning”.

You definitely need more serious people working here because the equipment is being ruined. This is actually the worst PF or any gym brand I’ve ever been to. Do better Planet Fitness. I don’t come to your gym to touch un sanitized run down equipment and have to wait for machines for people who aren’t seriously working out. Those of us who are are on scheduled workouts and don’t want to be in the gym for 3 hours waiting on machines.

I’ve always been happy but as someone who brings their own squat bar pad, and ankle pads for leg kickbacks, having to carry everything in your hands or keep running to locker room is really inconvenient, I have a small bag that I always keep close out of the way and put on or under the machine makes it very difficult. Seems small when having to carry your stuff loose or rub back and forth sucks.

I had not used my Planet Fitness membership for over a year due to my demanding schedule, which required me to leave home early and return late, leaving me with no time to visit the gym to cancel my membership. Unfortunately, there was no option to cancel online. The same day I finally managed to go in person to cancel, I was charged the annual membership fee.

I spoke with a manager about this issue, but he informed me that nothing could be done. Given that I had not used the gym’s services at all during this time, I find this policy to be extremely unfair. A more flexible cancellation process and consideration for members in similar situations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to the lovely new manager Jess the Waterbury location is very warm and welcoming. The gym is always clean, the ladies that work there are very sweet. Brian and all the brothers are the coolest! I’m also seeing a lot of members who left the gym for what ever reasons, returning.
I get a great workout at this gym and I’m surrounded by some really nice members!

Finally decided to become a gym girlie. This planet fitness beats all the ideas or stereotypes I had of a gym before I even went to workout!!

The air is fresh, entire gym area is cool, bathroom and spa areas superbly clean!! There’s lockers and a shower that you can freshen up afterwards, a scale, vending machine!! The gym area is respectful as well. Everybody wipes down machinery they use so not only is the planet fitness cleaning the gym but people are also respecting others. Me personally other people’s bodily juices skeeve me out. I don’t need to worry about that here just get dressed, look cute if I want, check in at the front desk, check in my gym buddy under my plan and go have fun and go home.🩷🩷

Edit.. Waterbury Planet fitness has stepped up their game and is great. They are issue resolvers too if you have questions .. I love planet fitnesses anywhere else but Waterbury the employees have attitudes you will be guaranteed to get anything you leave off your body taken they act like they don't know anything the tanning beds are broken over here half the machines are broken over there and it's not clean at all spare yourself from visiting this planet fitness here...

Planet fitness is great for the price. It’s had all the machines and extras. The only thing I would love is it to have classes and then just pay more for that. All the workers are very friendly and always cleaning. Brian the manager is always so happy in the front, very friendly and professional. Edward is great too, he’s very professional; it’s nice that he can speak Spanish for the Spanish clientele that comes in.

The gym is a bit "tired". The equipment is old, needs some paint and lower wall trim replaced, there should be more cleaning stations, one in the corner by the dumbells and cardio eqpt for example. Seems a bit dark inside compared to other gyms I've been to across the country. It's a pretty busy gym so I understand it's going to get worn out quicker but that also means it brings in more revenue. It's also hot inside during the summer, I was here the month of July and it seemed there was barely AC some days. The busy part also brings up another issue, needs more equipment. Maybe the owner should look into a new space to lease, maybe he or she already is considering it doesn't look like there is much time spent on upkeep. I actually decided I am no longer going to this gym. Moving forward I will be going to the Naugatuck location when I'm here in CT. In my opinion there is no way this gym deserves a 4.2 rating it currently has. I've been to some of the newer locations across the country and the equipment is much better and the space in general is nicer, cleaner, smells better. I don't mean any disrespect to the owner, I am self employed and I understand business can be tough. But it costs money to make money! I live in CT by the way (partially) so I'm very familiar with Waterbury.

Update: had to drop my rating from 5 stars to 3 since the AC has been broken for many months snd the fans they put in aren’t a good replacement. They also stopped filling the hand sanitizers a few months ago. It feels like this place is about to shut down despite it always being full with tons of members. What is management using our membership fees for?

I used to go here in high school and now that I moved back to Connecticut, I decided to come back here. Planet fitness has a reputation of being a bad gym for the more hardcore fitness people but this place in the exception. They have plenty of squat racks, benches, and weights that get heavy enough for virtually anyone to get a solid workout in. I regularly bring in a gallon jug or large water bottle or whatever and wear whatever I want to workout in and I've never had an issue. The facility is always spotless and you rarely ever have to wait for a machine or bench to be opened (especially if you go in the mornings). The customer service has never been an issue for me either but I usually go have them scan my card and that's the entire interaction.
The main reason I come here is price. It is by far the cheapest gym in the area yet still better quality overall than most gyms. The only real downside is you can't do deadlifts but that isn't a deal breaker for me.

Myself & two of my friends went here today. Only to be welcome at the door by a staff named Natalia, no hi , welcome or nothing.. just says to one of my friends do you have sneakers ? Cause you can’t work out in crocs. So that friend left and myself and other friend continue to stay for our work out only to see someone else wearing slides and another person wearing platform crocs with NO SPORT MODE, and his heels hanging out . Mind you the policy online says no OPEN TOE shoes or sandals.. crocs are not open toed nor sandals . The whole thing was quite ridiculous esp for someone who pays your monthly and annual fees to be turned away for something that is not in the policy. Got to love a tyrant who makes her own rules and picks and chooses who can follow them . Probably will be utilizing southington or Wallingford PF moving forward .

Nice environment. Everyone is just minding their own business, doing their thing. Lots of tvs with different things on them to watch while you work out if that's your thing while doing cardio. The hydromassage chair was great since I had back surgery a few years ago and sometimes worry about aggravating it when I work out. The staff was nice and helpful, but I was disappointed to find that the classes I had set up online could not be fulfilled since they didn't have trainers on staff. The young guy at the desk tried his best to help me and took me around and showed me how to use some of the machines. The locker rooms are nice and clean, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

Planet is a good size and has free weight barbells. Downside is when I came here they had one rope attachment and one pair of clips for 3 barbells. Stuff probably got stolen though, that’s Waterbury for ya

Don’t really do reviews . I like this gym because of the bench presses they have . Smith machines suck . Anyway , I was there a few weeks ago and forgot my hoodie in a locker . I called the same night and told the staff what locker it was in . They described the same hoodie and said they would secure it for me behind the counter . I came in the next week and they couldn’t find it . They said they left it in the lost and found with my name on a paper on top of it . It was not found although they initially found it in the locker when I called . Not too upset about a hoodie but my only concern is that a staff member would take it or give it away without confirming identity . I’ve heard of stolen things at planet fitness and I understand it’s not their responsibility. However , confirming over the phone and then not having it makes me believe a staff member threw it away or stole it . The lost and found has other peoples things . Not sure why the hoodie wouldn’t be there with it . My only critique is that planet fitness should pay their employees more so that they don’t feel the need to take a hoodie . I only say that because who else would have access to the lost and found items . Besides that , decent gym with friendly staff .

This facility was under renovation at my last visit, I am eager to see the completed gym. The fitness area was always clean, the staff pleasant and there's a lot of equipment. It was just low lit and a bit dark for my liking. Hopefully other than that will I am hoping to see the new entry way and painting jobs.

There’s a total comfort and ease when you go to a PF gym. There is no pressure, no one pressures you to join this or that, you just checked in and do your own thing. A variety of equipments to used a the gym and the gym is very spacious and clean. The staffs members are awesome and professional. My PF in Waterbury is a five star location that I would recommend to anyone.
