Looking for a new gym after moving to Connecticut, I discovered New Haven Powerhouse Gym—and I’m so glad I did! With many LA Fitness locations closing, I needed a serious workout spot. After reading some reviews, I gave them a call and spoke with Antonio about memberships. He was incredibly helpful and encouraged me to visit the facility.

When I walked in, I was blown away. This is an old-school gym with equipment you rarely see in today’s gyms. From the machines to the weights, everything felt designed for serious training. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into making this gym a unique and standout place—it’s truly a hidden gem.

I was able to get a workout in during my visit, and it exceeded my expectations. I’m definitely making plans to join and would highly recommend New Haven Powerhouse Gym to anyone serious about building muscle, cutting fat, or even preparing for competition. This place is the real deal!

I signed up for a monthly membership and who ever signed me up did it incorrectly. Each time I tried to use the facility I was stopped by the front desk because my card was not linked to a membership. And each time this prevented me from working out because I’d have to stand there while they searched their entire database for my membership. This went on for 2 weeks before I decided to just cancel. I got the run around for another 2 weeks, front desk told me to call a number, the number I called told me to go into the gym. I just simply wanted to be reimbursed which I had to dispute through my own bank. I haven’t been back to the gym since they won’t let me use it because they cannot locate me in their system due to whatever mistake the person made when they signed me up. Now, 2 months later, their bank is threatening to send me to collections for non payment. I’ve spent many hours between many days on the phone with their bank to explain to them that the gym their gym will not give me access to the facility. They refuse to reach out to the gym for reconciliation and when I reach out no one answers the phone. Ever. The most recent email their bank sent is that I’ll be charged for an additional 2 months (3 months total) before they cancel my imaginary membership. Expectations for an individual to continue to make payments for a service/access they aren’t receiving is unreasonable and theft.

Really awesome gym. All the positive reviews are spot on. Kind of an old skool vibe. This is where the serious minded train. I don’t think you will find the gym selfie TwerkTok instagarbage “influencers” here.
Customer service is top notch. Honest and down to earth. Also, the boxing coach Will is a gem. This place is 5 stars all around. I will definitely be back when I’m in town.

The gym is an awesome environment.
The only problem I have is with Johns mouth.
Every single time there's a female around he tends to run his mouth a little too much. The joking around/insulting doesn't really bother me between us guys. But he likes to try and humiliate others around women to show off and takes it too far. It gets very annoying after a while. That's my reason for giving three stars.

Lots of vintage equipment which we love including our favorite Nebula hack squat and leg press! There's quite a lot of space to move around considering the many choices for each movement. We visited on a day pass and hope to visit again soon!

The gym itself is good with the equipment, but I was put through the ringer just trying to cancel my membership. I was told by the owner I needed to contact a 3rd party company to cancel, then the same 3rd party company told me to contact the owner again to cancel. Never ending cycle. Someone was lying. It’s a dirty trick to get free money from people under contract who don’t go to the gym anymore. It’s like pulling teeth with these people. Terrible experience. I can work out at any other gym with the same equipment. And other gyms are cleaner.

****Lack of ethics ! **** I have never given a bad review in past , because I understand it hurts the business . But the owner/ management of this gym doesn't have much ethics. My son was suffering with an acute sciatica pain from last year and early few months of 2022. He decided to have him enrolled to this gym as per his Chiropractor's advice just to try out .My husband has called and explained the situation with the front desk guy and requested to sign him up for a monthly plan .But when he showed up they signed him for a yearly plan . His sciatica pain has came back within a week and one point he became almost bed ridden , We requested to cancel his yearly membership with the report from Chiropractor but they declined to do so with a lame excuse...Its sad to see when people run businesses without any moral values !

One of the best gyms in the UNITED STATES . The front desk gentleman , welcomed me as a guest from Nashville , shook my hand and told me to come back . All the equipment then some more . This is a place where you come to grow . The other gym members are polite and friendly too . Clean very clean , so much space . Didn’t have to wait on equipment . Has all the old school training stuff and all the new stuff as well .
Truth is , the world needs more of these type gyms .

This is the best gym I've ever been to, full stop. Was a member at multiple NY Sports Club locations in NYC as well as Blink Fitness before joining here and it's a whole different league -- literally, since actual bodybuilders and powerlifters train at Montanari Bros. It's not slick and sterile, it's not soft and pampering, it's a gym as gyms were meant to be. Also worth mentioning: very affordable rates, equipment is excellently maintained, management is incredibly friendly/helpful, environment is very upbeat and motivating.

Powerhouse is amazing. I’ve been a member of every gym in the area and none of them come close to here.
You can always find a parking place without driving laps for a half hour. The staff is knowledgeable, encouraging, and always excited to help. All of the equipment is properly maintained, clean, and in great condition. I’ve only ever seen one machine “out of order” and it was fixed the next day. The entire building has an amazing energy,

Dirty.. Restroom facilities are below standard, no locker per say unless you don't care about your stuff.. basically the gym is only parked with workout machines... not even a drinking fountain available ... You have to buy water in case you didn't bring a keg.. Most go there because of prob the name and desire to use an outdated old school machine..plus every meathead wanna be goes there to showcase. All good but if you want comfort values for ur money, you in the wrong place considering competition out there.
