We need to focus on ourselves to be the best we can be. Ashley and her team make this process so natural. Consider exploring naturopathic medicine if you havenβt. You wonβt be disappointed.

I have been doing pilates for over a decade. Whenever I am in Connecticut visiting family, I attend classes at SOMA Movement Studio. Mary is extremely knowledgeable; her cuing is spot on and often hilarious. I've watched Mary grow the studio through COVID and beyond. She's created new spaces; made a beautiful studio; and has taken on new instructors. (Unfortunately I've not had the opportunity to take classes with the newest instructors - Bonnie and Erica). I have taken different level classes not only with Mary, but also with earnest Nancy and sweet Melissa, all gave amazing, beautiful workouts - focusing on purposeful breathing, alignment, core strength, posture, flexibility, and body awareness. Pilates should always focus on those attributes, and SOMA Movement Studio definitely does it right!

I have been in physical therapy for my shoulder since April 2024 at another business. I started taking pilates at Soma simultaneously. Pilates has been a great addition to my physical therapy and the instructors have been very thoughtful and considerate with my physical limitations and have greatly assisted with my recovery.

I just took my 4th class and I love it! Nancy is great and really gives you a challenging work out, but at the same time, truly makes the class fun. All of the other woman in my Monday class have all been so kind and welcoming.

Mary was incredibly insightful and fun to work with. I learned so much in one session that I can take with me not just to future fitness experiences but to my everyday life. Can't wait to visit Connecticut again and take a class with her!

Taking Pilates classes with Mary at Soma Movement has changed my life and improved my strength and flexibility. Mary is simply amazing! She takes the time to explain details about how each exercise should be done with frequent small tweaks to your form that suddenly make the exercises even more beneficial. She has a natural ability to teach and explains things in a simple and methodical way. Mary is constantly aware of each individual and manages to help you with personal adjustments without slowing the rest of the class down. Whether you are just trying Pilates for the first time or have been practicing for years, Mary meets you were you are as an individual and guides you to progress at the speed you want and need.

Classes didnβt have a lot of variety In content like a typical reformer class. Very limited schedule availability. The instructor also cancels classes quite frequently due to weather and sickness. Personally feel that there are much better options in the area.

Great studio with an amazing team. Mary is excellent instructor - she really works to aid the student in body awareness and alignment. The classes have a great vibe - everyone is working at their own pace and working on their personal goals. Very friendly and welcoming. Mary answers all questions and offers excellent support during the Reformer class. Highly recommend!

I love the studio and the instructors are very professional and attentive to using the correct form. The variety of classes has helped my golf swing, skiing and running improve. No matter what level class you take the instructors are able to tailor the class to fit your level of challenge because class sizes are small. They feel like family to me.

Of the various therapies I have tried and used to keep my body balanced and feeling well, I always come back to Soma as the most effective and long-lasting therapy.

Classes really make you work so you achieve your goal of fitness with instructors who are fun, motivating and very competent. Wide range of classes (pilates, yoga, barre, gyrotonics) and great schedule of both morning, afternoon and evening classes. I started coming for Physical Therapy in the clinic and was so impressed with the whole team that I have stayed on and keep progressing.

The Pilates and Somatic classes are excellent. As a retired personal trainer/fitness instructor, I'm very impressed. The instruction I have received at SOMA surpasses any classes I've experienced elsewhere, as does their Pilates equipment. I'm looking forward to taking a Barre class soon!

This studio is amazing for the variety of classes it provides and the excellent teachers who teach them. The teacher's modify the exercises whenever necessary for any injuries or conditions you might have that day. I've done the Pilates classes for 3 years at this studio and couldn't be happier with the classes, they've changed my body and mind while having fun doing it!

I am delighted to tell you that Farmington Valley Physical Therapy has succeeded in rehabilitating me from a sports injury where others have helped either only slightly, or made things worse.
They are the only place in CT with staff trained in Hanna Somatic Movement, an approach to rehab that is very efficient and thorough because it directly works with the bad neuro-muscular patterns (habits) that one forms in compensating for the injury. This allows for release of chronically tense muscles that then can be used more optimally for walking, standing, and whatever else one does. That is, one moves better with less or no pain.
I have been very pleased and impressed with the dedication and teaching ability of the staff. They believe deeply in what they are doing β and for good reason β it really works!
