Went in for a day trial. Probably would have joined this gym if not for the insane number of second amendment, police, and other conservative leaning flags hanging all around the gym. Honestly just weird and tacky vibes due to the pure number of them everywhere. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone thinking of making a trip to check out this gym who might be put off by this like I was. Owner was reasonably friendly & equipment/space decent. Unfortunately they made sure I didn’t feel very welcome or aligned with the folks there based on the decorations.

I have been a member of many gyms through the years. Universal is by far the best. I have been a member since they opened their first location. The atmosphere is excellent, the equipment is superior to other gyms, lots of specialty pieces for any body part, it’s clean, the owners are always there and are more than happy to assist you including showing you how new equipment can be used. FYI, they are always adding a new pieces of equipment! Five star!

Unfortunately there’s only one man in this gym (Nick) who’s friendly and will greet you at the front desk every time. Every other employee will just look at you as you walk in. The last thing I’m going to do is spend my hard earned money at an unfriendly establishment.

This gym is one of the best in CT, whether you want to train hardcore or just got to the gym and excercise they have both atmospheres covered. And the 2 owners are always there and are great guys no wonder this gyms atmosphere is super positive and makes you feel at home. I own a gym and I still come to train here cause the owners have always been cool with me since I was 13 years old and walked through there doors. I highly recommend Training here and making it your home gym!!!!

By far the best gym i’ve ever been to. They have a huge variety of equipment so you can do your whole routine without having to wait for a machine. Nick and Tony are very nice, make the gym feel sooo welcoming, and push you to do one more rep and be your best. I was very intimidated when I first joined, but now it truly feels like a community of great people. I love Universal so much I don’t plan on switching gyms again. Highly highly recommend!!!

Moved away...and after trying a few other gyms I immediately called and restarted my membership its a bit out of my way but worth it. Nothing compares to this gym especially the morning crew. Thanks guys I felt so welcomed back by the staff and members I felt like the undertaker coming back for one last wrestlemania!!!

Don't let them get your, credit card info. Half a year now, I have been charged after canceling my membership. I loved the gym, but need to start saving. When I canceled I was told next month, I won't be charged. But I had to go in and talk to the owner. Seemed nice, sounded like an honest mistake. He offered a refund, that I never received.I opened a fraudulent charge case. When that didn't work, I was told I need a new card. But they are still charging me. I don't know how that's even possible.

I used to personally dislike gyms because I was intimidated. When my whole family signed up for “Universal fitness” to start healthier habits it really helped me lose weight and learn different workouts I thought I’d never try.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner really goes out of his way to make people laugh and enjoy just simply attending the gym. If you’re looking for a family friendly gym this is your place to try out or look into.

I love going to this gym !! Its not like the other gyms, won't name names, but you know the $10 a month gyms. This gym is professionally run, great selection of fitness equipment, classes, trainers and you feel comfortable when you walk in. You're treated like family ! Those other gyms,and yes i have been a member at a few of them, they are not welcoming and they feel more like you're walking into a club to meet someone 😉 these guys at Universal know what they are doing and are helpful with any questions you may have from how to workout on certain machines and offering their personal opinions on fitness. I cannot say enough about this gym !! I had to stop going due to needing double hip replacements but as soon as I healed I jumped right back in and felt like I never left. Thank you to the staff for making people feel good coming into your establishment.

Good machines to workout but the hygiene is poor. No hands sanitizer at all only few paper towels and sprays. People doesn't clean the machines after use so is a high risk of caching something specially with the covid situation.

Great gym the staff is very helpful and friendly they greet everyone that comes in and remembers people’s names and needs. The owners work hard to maintain everything and keep the place clean. Nice new gym located in the Mario's pizza parking lot. New equipment, good amount of power racks, dumbbells that go up to 130, and a decent sized cardio area with a separate room for classes and whatnot. The staff is attentive, and it's nice to see the owners take pride in the place. I always see the owners cleaning up the gym and interacting with the clientele. Membership prices are cheap, 20$ per month. I made the switch from the competitor, and it was a good decision.
