I enrolled both of my sons here. My eldest son 7 learned how to swim the right way and moved up in levels. My youngest gets 3 years old is in the process of learning how to swim and loves it. They both are very sensitive to cold water so we are all happy the pool is very warm and clean!

I couldn’t be happier with the swimming school my kids attend! The instructors are amazing — so patient, encouraging, and truly dedicated to helping each child succeed. My children have made incredible progress and gained so much confidence in the water. I’m so proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the positive, fun environment the school provides. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a place that combines skill, safety, and joy in learning! 🏊‍♀️💙

My son started lessons in August. Within just a few lessons he felt confident to put his head under the water. All of the instructors have been great. We look forward to our weekly swim lesson.

my kids have been swimming with Wings for years. We love having the opportunity to swim year round in a warm pool. The teachers are great, and they have built real relationships with my kiddos. The staff is friendly, and patient, and I would highly recommend this school to all of my friends, and family.

This is good for swim classes but you can find better places. The pool is very small and only goes about 5 feet. It is separated into 2 parts so on one side is for little kid swim classes and the other teenagers and young adults. I took swim classes here for a couple weeks and I learned a few things yes but they don’t really care.

When I was practicing some swimming strokes the instructor was chatting to another teenager in my class while I was swimming on the whole other side of the pool and they weren’t even watching me.

Also the class is only about 30-60 mins once a week and they spend about 5-10 minutes doing “warm ups” by the time everyone gets in and starts. So you really don’t get that much time. They force you to do something called zombie walks which is when you go under the water and come back up and walk and do it again to the other end of the pool and back. Even if you aren’t fully comfortable you have to do it or they wont let you start swimming.

Another thing I didn’t like was that mix all the different levels of swimmers together. For example I was a beginner swimmer getting use to being underwater and everyone else in my class was very advanced and I was the slowest one there.

The pool gets very crowded as well, with people and toys since they teach the little kids using water toys so sometimes they drift to the side where the older kids are and I was bumping into them.

Before choosing this place I read through so many reviews and I was a little skeptical. My son who is now 7, had done multiple sessions with another swim group and hadn’t made any progress. Even here I felt the class size was a little too large 4/5 students and he wasn’t picking up the vital things he needed to learn. After 5 months I have somewhat of a swimmer. They have their issues like most places, but we are all human and some things are out of our control. Mr. Ted has taught both my 3 year old and the 7 old and I appreciate his straight forward attitude. You have to be stern with these new kids. My son is confident in the water. When we are at our home pool he uses his cues learned at swim class and he even tries to help others around us. I recommend this place.

We’ve been coming here for about a year and a half. It started great but has really gone downhill. The classes are overbooked and the pool feels chaotic. It is overstimulating and hard for our son to stay focused. Teachers are often missing class so there is no consistency in the instructor. Our son loved the pool and would jump in no issues but for the last several months has refused to even go in. They need to get back to basics and stop overbooking these classes. Even when our son would participate he spent most of the class sitting on the steps because with 4 kids and 30 minutes there just isn’t enough time for instruction. We finally pulled him out because it just doesn’t even feel safe anymore. The instructor has 4 kids to watch and there are two lifeguards who are not always there. I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

My daughter has mostly liked the classes and has improved. The issues are the class sizes and instructors. Her teacher from the first class left soon after we started. Teachers are frequently out and there are subs. When she was put in beginner level there ended up being 6 kids in the class. They spend most of the time sitting on the steps. They increase the length of the class to 45 min, charge more, but let more kids in. Classes should be max 3-4 kids. I did bring concerns to the front desk but they had no resolution to offer.

At first, our experience was good. My son has a very hard time adjusting to new environments, and his instructor, Dani (who is not there anymore), was the perfect mixture of loving and firm. After a few weeks, my son was thriving with consistency and high expectations. Once Dani left, things rapidly declined. My son's instructor was never there, so he couldn't build familiarity to get comfortable. The worst experience of all was at a makeup class, the instructor was working with other students and had her back turned to my son. He quickly went under the water and couldn't get back up. There were two lifeguards on duty (very small pool) who didn't even notice, they were too busy talking. Thank goodness I didn't have my infant daughter with me that day, because I had to quickly jump in and save my son. No one on staff apologized - they just stared at me wide eyed, until I spoke to the receptionist & the lifeguards myself who said she would forward to management. She didn't, or at least the director says so. Finally, I went to schedule makeup classes after my son had a small procedure done that required him to stay out of classes. I called the main number to schedule makeups, who told me to send an email so they could better accommodate me. I sent the email, and the director told me to call the front desk. A minor issue, but after the experiences I'd had, I didn't want to continue our time at Wings Over Water. The director was kind when I let her know we were done, and offered credits to our account, but it wasn't worth it since my son wasn't thriving there. I would avoid if your child needs consistency to feel comfortable.

Update:

Last summer a few months after my review one of the managers finally reached out to me to apologize for the lack of follow up and offered us a credit on our account. She was very attentive and nice. While we didn’t reenroll my daughter we did use the credit for my son for the infant classes and so far it has been a pleasant experience.

Initial:
After an initial great experience I feel things went down hill. Last summer she learned so much and was doing great.
We took some time off from September to January.
When we returned she was in a class with two instructors and 4 kids. I thought that was fantastic because each child would get more practice time because there were two instructors, however I felt the instructors were more concerned with talking to each other than teaching and didn't feel like much was getting done. I didn't say anything I just switched classes after two months. After switching to a new instructor I thought things would get better but we had one class with the instructor and then she was gone for an entire month. Her classes were either canceled or they had a sub, but nobody was ever consistent so therefore they didn't know her skill level or what she needed to work on. Instead I felt like they wasted 10 minutes of a 30 minute class blowing bubbles in a cup when my daughter was already well past this stage. I asked for a manager to call me three times to discuss my concerns and nobody ever called me back. I ended up canceling our lessons. I'm disappointed that I wasted 6 months worth of lessons and money from January to June and never even had the opportunity

My children have been in classes here for many years. The teachers are experienced and patient. I did prefer the way it was when the classes were by semester because it was easier to see growth. However, their perpetual swim classes allow for more flexibility.

Wings over water Swimming school is an awesome place to send your child./ children If you want them to learn how to swim, my son has been going here for like, almost two years and I see great improvement and he is able to swim on his own without a life vest the Staff is wonderful and they treat us like family.

My daughter has been going here for about a year now and we love it. The facilities are well maintained (I’ve seen someone cleaning something every time we’re there), the staff are friendly and knowledgeable (especially Miss Liz and Miss Sue), but most of all the instructors are great. They clearly know how to swim and also how to care for kids. Miss Lauren is friendly and gives off very calming energy. Miss Diamond has also been so much fun when she subbed. Some of the things my daughter learns we’re also able to reinforce at home, which is great. Five stars.

My children have had the best experience here. My son in particular had some anxieties and difficulties in the water and all his instructors have been great. In fact, before this we tried other schools and none could even get him in the water. My older daughter really blossomed as a swimmer in her lessons as well.

This place is awful, do not waste your money or time. The instructors had zero patience and in the 30 minute swim lesson, my son maybe swam 10 ft. The instructor had them sitting on the stairs and would get mad if any of the kids (5 year olds) moved but they had to sit there and just watch. AWFUL, didn't learn anything, was super expensive and there was never availability in any make up classes.

If i could make this one star I would. With toddlers that cannot swim they have 4 children to one teacher. When the teacher is concentrating on one child the other three are all but drowning. It’s a hazard to your children and any responsible parent should beware.

A very nice and friendly place for all kids. I thought they were going to act a little high class because it was Fairfield and my kids are colored... but they seem to be unbiased and accepting of all children and their families. Very happy for that and happy for Liz who works there. Very nice young lady who makes you feel welcome. Would recommend to anyone!

Don’t waste your money and go to this place its the second time my son class been cancelled bc of rain the first time I got a phone call five minutes before the session when I was just about to get off the highway and this time no phone call I’m collecting all my money back and cancelling the remaining session I have for my son and myself. The instructors are not good at helping you learn how to swim anyhow they just let you do whatever you want in the pool for 45 mins. After my first session I was like ok at least I have a pool to swim in and I already paid but it’s a waste of money trust me.

I have no idea how many months/years a child needs to learn how to swim. It is taking longer than I first thought it would. Love the place and my kid really enjoys the classes. My wallet thinks the learning process is too slow, but I think it is a good school after all.

Dont waste your time and money at this place. Wings over water is a complete joke with little children instructors. The owner of this establishment is completely useless and unable to solve the simplest of problems very unprofessional. You are better off just bringing your kid to the y and teaching your child yourself...stay clear from wings over water.

As soon as my little man turned 6months we wanted to get him into some swim classes. we search and Wings over water had a great program for 6months+, though a little pricey for my taste, it was well worth it!!! they are all awesome!!!! and the classes are a great size were you don't feel like your child is not getting the adequate attention they need. as a parent i felt they did a great job at interacting with the little ones and incorporating us as well. All in All i would hands down recommend this swim school to anyone!!!!
