Such a great experience at DC Row. Their location (Dupont) is clean, welcoming, and inviting. I’ve been looking for a convenient place to workout and it’s right near the Dupont Circle metro.
They also have a cute ceiling filled with marigolds that make class so fun (which the owner crafted). The first class is also complimentary!
This weekend they’re having an event for Howard Homecoming and a Halloween event next weekend.

EDIT: I originally gave a very harsh review, when I was in the wrong and misread the confirmation email about class start times and their address. I am so sorry to DC Row and am looking forward to the future class. They responded very kindly and cordially to my review and were very understanding.
Apologies, again for my misunderstanding and original negative review.

Added on class pass and walked all the way in the rain to the gym for it not to be at the address. The advertising on the doors and windows says DC Row, but it’s not for DC row. I called them a few times 10/15 minutes before my class hoping someone could tell me the right entrance, no answer. Won’t be going again— either update the branding on the door or pick up the phone. I’m out $14 because I had to cancel, never found the place.

DC Row is not following Covid protocols that are required in DC right now. When I walked in for my first class the instructor was not wearing a mask and did not check my vaccination card. Another person walked in without a mask and asked the instructor for one. He said masks were optional, and she didn’t put one on.
This is a violation of the current mask requirement and vaccination check in DC restaurants, gyms, etc. When I told him this he acted like he had no idea what this was. I left and did not experience the class.

I can't believe that this place doesn't have more recent reviews! I moved to DC in September and immediately started attending classes at DC Row. This pandemic is never-ending, so the classes are smaller than they might have been before - I am often the only one. But, the machines are pretty well spread out and the instructors do a good job of following mandates for masks/vaccinations, so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable if the classes were fuller.
I've been to all 3 of their class-types. The Crew Clinic is amazing for beginners to learn rowing technique; it's slower paced, but still a good workout. The Row Flow class is more endurance-based, and the Scull and Sculpt class (my fav) is more HIIT-based. Honestly, as someone who despises cardio with every. single. fiber. of my being... I was shocked at how much I truly enjoy rowing.
All of the instructors have been great, too. Brittany is so fun and has amazing energy. Tina's classes kick my a** in the best way. I've also had classes with a couple of other instructors and they've all been wonderful.
Overall - really great place. Great people. Great workout. I bring everyone who visits me to a class here and they all love it. If you've been thinking about it, or just want to try a new type of exercise - do it!

They used to have an instructor Lauren who was great. Their business model is lacking, however, and they cannot keep good instructors. Seems poorly run. I would not buy a ten pack because other locations, including the wharf, have shuttered. Great concept, though. Other boutique row places include Row House. Orange Theory is big on rowing. I bought a Concept 2 rower and don’t need to pay through the nose for classes any longer.

I love these classes. I’ve been twice and had great experiences both times. The instructors are very motivating and take time to teach form. The class goes by quick, it’s fun, and you’ll definitely get a full workout.

Today was my first time trying DC Row and I absolutely loved it. Kate was my instructor and she was fun and made learning proper form fun. I will definitely go back and recommend anyone trying to find an alternative to the gym to check this place out. Thank you!!

Fantastic! I love this place! I’ve maybe taken 4-5 classes at DC Row and I always leave feeling like I received a great full body workout. I just had my first Scull & Sculpt class with Kristen Duncan this morning and I’m currently recovering as I type this. Kristen is extremely motivating and proved to be a highly knowledgeable instructor. In my opinion she put together a perfect high intensity/recovery/off the row machine (modified pushups, bicep curls, abdominal crunches) workout. She was great at reminding you to be mindful of your form, to breathe and of the goals to reach during the class. Great communicator! Great feedback! I’m so glad we have DC Row in our neighborhood and hope that more people take advantage of this fantastic small business!

I love this new place! I now prefer rowing over running on the treadmill and DC Row makes it fun. Definitely a must go!

I attended a class led by an instructor in training named Matt.
The staff was very welcoming. Their main entrance was under construction but they did a great job communicating that well before the start of class.
I had a difficult time catching the flow of class. It was hard to tell when I was supposed to row hard and fast and when we were supposed to be pacing ourselves.
Feedback is below:
1. Make more intentional music choices that reflect the flow of the class
2. More energy from the instructor! Build to the higher energy moments during the row. Know what you want from and for your students during the class.
3. Get mats for the floor work. Laying on heavily waxed floors when your sweaty isn’t pleasant.
4. In an open level class take some time to make form adjustments before you start the class. It’s hard to make adjustments when you’re supposed to be doing a sprint.
5. More face time with the instructor! It be great to see them once or twice during the class. Instead of them just pacing behind you.
6. I know it’s hard to describe how hard someone should be working, but percentages feel very vague. Maybe use workrate as your benchmark for pace.
7. Turn the instructors mic up, it was hard to hear him over the music.
8. Have your instructors in training check out a spin class from Katherine H. or Alli at the Zengo Logan Circle location. Both instructors have mastered motivation, pace, and engaging with their riders.
Overall I had a positive experience and will definitely be going back to give it another go!
