The water is super cold!!!! The showers suck mainly due to it always being a freezing or lukewarm shower. NO HOT WATER HERE!

Would be 5 stars if they had enough benches. Business is clearly good considering the number of people here—use some of that profit to buy a couple more benches so paying customers aren’t regularly having to wait

JB is the BEST instructor. I have taken club mashup, water aerobics, and water Zumba. I love how his classes are very difficult but he smiles, is cheerful, and makes up laugh. His water Zumba class is SO fun! And I love his music playlists.

Having been apart of OneLife Tennleytown for about a year, I have been nothing but impressed! The new facility with top notch equipment and a pool make this gym a part of my everyday life. Aside from the physical building, it’s the staff that really sets this gym apart from the rest. Taryn and Anson always greet everyone with smile and help make the experience exceptional. I was having a very difficult time with the membership team while trying to get help with my account and my mom’s account. Honestly, I was about to cancel both memberships out of frustration.
Thankfully, Brittany kindly stepped in, explained everything I didn’t fully understand, and helped me find a much better option for both of us. She was always professional, extremely kind, and showed genuine empathy.
Her support made all the difference, and I truly appreciate the way she handled the situation.

I am so grateful for the fantastic training Brian Fu has given me over the last year. When we started I had a lot of mental resistance with going to the gym and Brian helped me do a complete 180. I now go 5 days a week and look forward to it so much. Brian is so attentive and knowledgeable and also has a fantastic sense of humor. He paid so much attention to my form and corrected me and helped me work through a bunch of technical issues I had with exercising. I feel so fortunate that Brian gave me everything I needed to change my life.

OneLife fitness was my first, ever gym experience and it really exceeded my expectations. As someone who doesn’t love going to the gym, I found the place wide and modern enough, and the staff was always very friendly.
Apart from it all, I want to give a major shoutout to Brian Fu. I started working with him as a personal trainer as part of the free session they offered me as a first time client and kept booking sessions with him. He was a great coach, super professional and knowledgeable, but the best part was his attitude and how much he helped me recover from a knee injury that made it almost impossible to work out. He’s a gem.
I moved to another area, but would have kept my membership there if it was possible, in big part thanks to Brian.

I LOVE this gym. It has everything I want and more - it’s clean (the gym, studios, locker room, pool and sauna); staff is pleasant and responsive; trainers are terrific. Such diversity of both machines and free weights … parking is easy, and the towel service is so nice. The recovery room and massage chairs are a luxury. The sign up app (and class reminders if you want them) make it easy. Rave review … from someone who has never, ever liked going to the gym … Thanks, OneLife Tenley ⭐️

I been a gym member of onelife for 5+ years and I have gone to most of onelife gyms in the DMV area and for this to be “tier 3” which means more exclusive and you pay more for the membership is straight up crazy i don’t pay more tho cause i called the front desk and wanted to see if i was allowed to go there after work since it was 5 minutes away that i was good to go and my parking would be free I pulled up parking was cramped no signal since you’re in the basement of course and the gym equipments are good but that doesn’t make it a good gym I’ll tell you why because if you go to Alexandria Hoffman rd, fort Totten, onley, Rockville they feel more like tier 3 vibes more space cleaner free parking except fort totten but even at that they give you 3 hours max which is considerate compare to this location where’s it’s only 2 hours free and it’ll cost you $8 if you surpass that time which isn’t reasonable because let’s be real most gym goers know 2 hours is not enough time but I was upset cause when I left the front desk guy told me you aren’t a tier 3 member so parking isn’t free but on the phone he told me other wise smh unprofessional do better also the placement or the machines was so unorganized even at that the gym isn’t even fully completed there was spaces still being constructed on so why charge tier 3 membership if anything give a discount till the gym is fully completed this location really disappointed me

The management is unprofessional. I felt bullied. There are so many cameras and absolutely no windows which made it all very claustrophobic. But the big reason I left was due to the management. I was sent an unprofessional email that offered to cancel my membership with no reason. There definitely needs to be a staff training on bullying and being inclusive and respectful to members. The behavior of the front desk staff and management is putting a bad rep on the company. I skimmed other reviews and people seemed to have similar experiences with the people who work for onelife fitness at this location.

I found OneLife Fitness -Tenleytown to be the best DC metro fitness facility for my needs. It's attended by thoughtful and well prepared staff, ready to answer questions you might have about membership options which are thought out and could fit a range of different budgets, contract terms or to show you around and attend to questions or remarks you might have about equipment on the floor.
It's a new facility stocked with numerous new equipment that seem to be available even at times that are meant to be particularly busy in the evenings.
The swimming pool is huge, the locker rooms clean and well maintained, as seems to be the general exercise space with dumbbells and weights where they are supposed to be on their racks when you need them.
There is a long list of features that anyone could just go on their web site and look up, but again, I will emphasize that the best impression I have had so far is their friendly and attentive staff.
On the less exciting side of things, I will just mention the fact that parking in the area does not come for free, and there are membership plans that come with 2 hour parking validation, but those are on the two highest pricing tiers. But, you might be able to work around that if you could use public transportation or if you come at times that street parking in the immediate area might be more available.

Update: Shortly after this message, I was reached out to by Brittany at Onelife. She was kind, patient and fair enough in making the situation right. I recommend this gym for its classes, attention to keeping the building clean and more. Thank you Brittany!
Back in January 2025, I upgraded my membership to the Signature tier specifically for access to validated parking, as this location is the most convenient gym since I moved. The gym itself is great—clean, spacious, and well-maintained.
However, about three weeks ago, I was informed that my membership does not include Signature perks such as parking validation. This was surprising, as I have an email exchange with someone named Harold (who I believed to be a manager) confirming the upgrade had been processed.
Since then, I have been waiting for a response from Axel, who was supposed to follow up. When I first raised the issue, I explained to a team member that I’m unavailable to take phone calls during work hours and requested email communication instead. I was told that after work hours, no manager would be available. I understood that, and again reiterated—via another team member—that I need Axel to email me, as my contact details are on file.
It's now been three weeks, and I still haven’t received an email from Axel or any other manager. However, he did call May 19th, this call was done despite me asking for an email to the staff member Lizzie. My membership remains in limbo, and I’m unsure why this issue—which dates back 5 to 6 months—was only just caught, and still hasn’t been resolved.
It’s possible Axel never received the message, or perhaps communication within the team wasn’t followed through completely. Either way, I wanted to share my recent experience with customer service for two reasons:
For anyone signing up—double-check that your membership and included perks are properly reflected in the system to avoid surprises months later.
As someone who works in customer service, I understand how hectic things can get and how communication can fall through the cracks. That said, a three-week delay without any formal response is disappointing.
I’m hopeful I can update this review positively once someone reaches out and helps resolve the issue—both correcting my membership tier and clarifying how the mistake occurred in the first place.

Joining Onelife Fitness Tenleytown has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my wellness journey. From day one, the experience has been exceptional—thanks to the incredible team, especially GM Brittany Wike and my personal trainer, Brayanth Guidicelli.
I became a member when the location first opened and unfortunately had to pause my training due to a leg injury that left me in a cast for five months. When I returned, Brittany honored my original membership rate without hesitation—a gesture that showed not only professionalism, but genuine care. That same spirit of compassion is matched by Brayanth, whose dedication and knowledge as a personal trainer are unmatched. He’s helped me rebuild strength while remaining mindful of an old back injury that occasionally flares up. Both Brittany and Brayanth consistently check in on me, and that level of concern means more than they know.
It’s comforting to be part of a fitness community that prioritizes well-being beyond workouts. Onelife Tenleytown doesn't just build strength—it builds trust, support, and real relationships. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Extremely disappointed in recent crowding issue. Multiple underage teens crowding bench stations and machines. Can’t find a turn with large groups like this and not paying client responsibility to work in with a group of 6.
Abusing time at multiple machines, staring at phone taking excessive rest, talking more than lifting and resting a reasonable amount of time. Makes me feel like leaving the gym for an adults only location. Please enforce strict etiquette for these teens and no more than two should be at any given machine or station.

I had a great experience every time I was at this gym! Even when I just came to be lazy and sit in the dry sauna. 😂 I enjoyed the weights, the cardio equipment and I enjoyed the boxing classes the most. Unfortunately, I had to relocate to Colorado and had to cancel my membership. And I wanted to add that Shecaina in membership services is just amazing. The way she communicated my contract and the terms and helped me with my relocation situation was outstanding. I was sad to leave and I will remember her for her superior service. It’s people like her that make this place special. If I ever return, I’ll definitely join this gym again, I won’t even look at another one. This place is special.

I love the Tenleytown One Life. They have a vast array of quality choices for your workout mood. My favorite classes are in the mind body studio or personal training in the main Gym. The Recovery room has compression and red light therapy, as well as relaxing massage beds. The pool has lanes you can reserve for an exercise experience which really helps with recovery. I com to One life as often as possible. It's well located with parking, EV charging and even a supermarket to grab a few things on my way home. The staff are friendly and once you have tried out different teachers and classes you will quickly pick your favorites. There are plenty of classes included in your membership as well as pay as you go extras if you need extra guidance. Highly recommend!

Kind of messed up to have to pay extra for the recovery room but never get a chance to use it because there’s no enforcement of the 10 minute timing on the massage chairs. I’ve sat and waited and seen people comfortable on the chairs restarting their timing very often, no consideration for the line of people waiting.
Very off-putting. I shouldn’t have to chase down an employee to have them enforce rules every time what’s the point?

My partner and I signed up for this gym when it first opened in September of last year. We were really excited by all of the cool facilities they have (salt water pool, sauna, multiple rooms to workout in, etc), but the cleanliness and timeliness of fixing equipment is MAJORLY lacking.
It took a while to write this review because we really do like the employees, trainers and the space. However, the locker room showers always have balled up hair, the towels have stains, the pool… I’m not sure has ever been cleaned because a bandaids been sitting next to it for months, the sauna is broken every few weeks, the shower temperature is either scorching your skin or freezing cold. They really need more cleaning staff at this location to bring the gym to the quality it needs to be.
Honestly, charge me $5-10 more and clean the place better.

I’ve been doing personal training here for over 3 months now and it’s been one of the best experiences I’ve had in the gym. My trainer Brian has been nothing but supportive, understanding, and encouraging even when I deliberately try to be a nuisance.
I started training with the intent of getting back into oly lifting, which is possibly one of the most frustrating sports on the planet. Some training sessions are harder than others, there’s an 80% chance that I’ll start crying, but in the end I walk away feeing satisfied. Brian does a great job at balancing time for fun and time for focus. 10/10 would recommend.

Good value for the price but the towels/ locker room situation needs some work.
They could move the dirty towel bins inside the locker rooms so people don't have to carry them upstairs. That's the way other OneLife gyms in the area work.
Also the locker rooms need more benches for changing. The sitting space is very limited.

The last six months isn’t only about the 1/2 pound per month weight loss it’s about a gym that has a friendly professional staff that wants me to enjoy the gym experience and cares if I get healthier.
I’m a former athlete many years and pounds ago… who used Netflix instead of exercise to relax… and just the small organized shift of 1.5 hours per day 3 times a week has completely changed my life for the better.
Every day I’m along side of young old male female and all sorts of people who are taking care of themselves and are willing to make an effort with some staff guidance… it’s a place that helps me thrive and I can choose between exercising along side of others in classes or by myself. If I can do this so can you! Cheers, Andrea

Manager Brittany was super helpful and responsive throughout the entire process of obtaining and canceling said membership due to relocation. She is super funny and kind and really made things simple, easy, and comfortable. The gym itself is very large and boasts an efficiently organized layout. The spaces are well-maintained which made it truly enjoyable to go to!

UPDATE 3/19/2025: The gym has really improved on cleanliness and keeping equipment working. I hope the Tenleytown team continues to focus on continuous improvement of the experience!
………….
This is a pretty decent gym. It's a good value, has everything to meet my needs, has good hours for me and is convenient.
Pros: It's large, with lots of little spaces where you can work out and not feel that others are on top of you; The price is quite reasonable for this area given that this has facilities like a pool, jacuzzi, and recovery room; The reservation system on the app for the swimming pool ( and classes) is nice to assure you will have space when you want to swim; Good mix of group classes.
Cons: It is not the cleanest gym I have belonged to -- people leave messes and cleaners don't seem to come through often enough. More of the strength/weight machines would be helpful

The facility is 5/5, clean and not too crowded. would’ve given the place 5 stars if the staff wasn’t consistently unpleasant.
if you aren’t paying for a lesson, dont expect patience or positivity from the staff. the majority of the trainers have a pretty bad attitude towards guests in general, and I haven’t had a single positive experience w them at this location. I’ve been coming for 9 months. not sure if I’ll renew once my year commitment is up.
TLDR; great gym! but unpleasant & unfriendly staff:(

Honestly I am shocked I even joined after the tour I received... I've been a One Life member before with zero complaints and have always been met with great customer service. I get to this location for a tour, am hardly even greeted and taken on a tour where I have to run to keep up with the employee (Anson?). Can barely hear him speak, doesn't ask for any questions and honestly was super unpleasant. When I asked about some of the amenities he told me "yes we have that, but you didn't want to see it"... how would I know what is there/not there to have any preference on seeing it? I was thoroughly unimpressed - the only reason this gets 3 stars is because it is a big gym. Gym has a large demographic range and the parking validation process is super inefficient...

I got an email about me not returning a towel. There is some signage on the machine that I never read because i usually dont have my glasses on when i enter gym.wh3n did this start? Why was not a mass email sent to members to make sure we got the message? I usually leave from the bottom floor elevators and half the time I don't use the towel so I leave in the locker. I was unaware my towel was being tracked. You have to pay for towel service and a one time fee which is usually close to 80 dollars.
I will not be using towel service anymore because I don't want to walk upstairs to drop off a towel. I can bring my own towel if I go back. I am wondering why Bethesda gym does not use this system. I try to go there and sometimes skyline because they have steamrooms. You just pick up a towel and drop the towel in the bin in the lockeroom.
When gyms start to penalize members to try to make them comply it's a negative for me. This gym has had alot of problems when they first open and still continue to have minimal issues.
They could also move the dirty towel bins inside the locker rooms so people don't have to carry them upstairs. That's the way other OneLife gyms in the area work.

I’ve been very pleased with my gym membership here! I think it’s reasonably priced, with a friendly and helpful staff. There are fitness classes, personal trainers and the typical cardio and weight training machines and equipment. Locker rooms have a sauna; there is a pool and hot tub; and for an upgrade to your membership you can have access to towel service, hydromassage, red light therapy and normatec compression therapy as well as validated parking in the attached garage. Brittany, the GM, is absolutely wonderful! Her hard work and excellent customer service does not got unnoticed. Anytime I have any concern or question she is ALWAYS there to take care of it. The gym is busy during “peak hours” (but I suppose that’s because they are doing something right) and I’ve never had an issue with equipment availability. I’ve been happy with my membership, and while I’ve given it some thought - I can’t come up with any con or negative thing to say about this gym! Would highly recommend!

A pretty good deal overall (50 a month) but could be better.
Pros: Super modern location, built 6 months ago so it feels like a great experience when you walk in. Machines in the front are all modern and they keep some of the old ones in the back. Saltwater pool is enjoyable. Sauna is good. Members are generally pretty nice and it’s nice meeting new people. Location is good with a lidl right next to it and abt 10 minute walk from tenley metro.
Cons: Opening hours are genuinely ridiculous. Weekdays are fine but the gym shuts at 6pm on sat and sun, not competitive with any other gym in the area.l and super inconvenient. Some employees are nice but others are quite rude. i don’t drive but the parking validation system is stupid, you have to pay a ridiculous amount for the privilege to park in the building. Also feels stingy that towels aren’t included in the base membership, but those who know how to get them will get them. Also frequently not enough lockers on weekdays from 3-6pm, have to wait a few minutes just for once to become available sometimes.

Ignore the one star reviews, it's a great value for the price. Cheap, but new facilities. Friendly staff and members. Everything you need to do a workout. There's A lot of high schoolers, but they're harmless. I'd consider it 5 stars for even having a pool at this price point in DC. But I'm giving the boxing membership 4 stars.
The classes are mainly guided bag-work, and the trainers are always engaging and happy to be there. My biggest issue is that access to the boxing studio is advertised as unlimited, but it isn't. A trainer needs to be present, so really there's unlimited access to the boxing classes which I can't always make it to. That might be different during the middle of the day, but doesn't help with my work schedule. The price is still fair considering what a boxing gym in the area costs, but the website should be updated.

I don't feel safe visiting this location due to the use of hazardous cleaning products. The facility uses spray bottles of "Spic and Span"for people to clean equipment and mats in various areas, but this detergent is not safe. When people use it, it leaves a strong chemical odor, and I often see it sprayed directly onto mats and equipment.
According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) website (EWG - Spic and Span), this product is rated D in their hazard score range, with F being the worst. It’s worth noting that most troublesome viruses are airborne, meaning wiping surfaces with harsh chemicals like this is unlikely to have a significant impact. If germs are the concern, the best prevention methods are proper handwashing and personal hygiene, such as taking showers.
Ironically, people using the spray believe they are promoting cleanliness, but instead, they contribute to creating a toxic environment in the poorly ventilated sub-basement areas.
I raised this issue with some of the gym staff, but management did not take it seriously. They already provide wipes as an alternative so they should consider removing the sprays entirely and replacing them with safer cleaning products for the cleaning crews who clean the facility all the time.

Overall, this is a good gym option in the area. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 as outlined in the cons section.
Pros: a) huge facility with varying types of equipment. I am more of a functional fitness person so appreciate that there are turf areas on both levels and sleds distributed throughout the gym. I love that there are stall bars, sand bags, kettlebells, and a TRX rig on the lower level. The traditional strength floor is large with multiple types of machines to work each body part. b) recovery room/amenties- this is an upgrade and if you pay attention to recovery as part of your health regimen, it’s great to have hydromassage, percussion guns, red light and Normatec boots available. The women’s locker room has a dry sauna. C) Pool- it’s salt water and I love how you reserve time one a lane on the app so people can’t hog a lane for hours on end. D) staff- everyone I have had an interaction with has been nice and helpful
Cons: 1) This is more of a One Life corporate critique, so if shopping around, just get everything in writing. I joined at Ballston originally and was able to get the option with the towel, recovery and multiple premier level locations add-ons. You don’t need the parking option to get those things. When I first started going to Tenleytown, there was a lag between my option add-ons so I was “denied” at the system. I showed them the confirmation membership email I had so was able to enter. It took about 4 days for the system to sync properly.
2) Cleanliness: I’d rate it a 3.5 out of 5 when it gets busy. I put that on the clientele at the Tenleytown location, not the cleaners or staff.
Compared to other locations (I also go to Ballston and Fort Totten on a regular basis), I’ve observed that a fair amount of the members are inconsiderate in terms of hygiene. They don’t wipe down equipment after they use it (especially in the recovery room), rerack weights, go into the pool with bandaids (so gross), fail to wipe down stretching or yoga mats, throw paper towels on the floor and leave towels strewn all over the locker room or in lockers so you can’t use them during busy times. There have been a couple of times when I had to ask the front desk to ask cleaners to clean up the red light recovery room as someone had left a “nest” of used paper towels all over the floor.
There is no excuse for not wiping down the equipment. There are lots of equipment wipe stations/spray bottles in every part of the gym. This location has a lot of younger kids (high school age) so perhaps their parents haven’t taught them proper gym etiquette. Also, it’s in a very affluent neighborhood so perhaps people have house cleaners who pick up after them. It’s just really annoying to have to wipe down a mat/ equipment after some sweaty dude was on it (who didn’t wipe it down after use), have to look at 3 or 4 lockers to find a clean one because the user never took the towels out, or have to rerack 45 lb plates left in the middle of turf so you have room to do lunges. I have observed that the trainers all rerack equipment as their clients finish using it, so it’s members, leaving mess. I do wish the Tenleytown members were more considerate and conscious about cleanliness.
The above being said, the Tenleytown facility and staff are great overall. I think the membership is a fair price for the value I receive.

Not worth the membership upgrades unfortunately, they take forever to fix anything. Red light therapy has been broken for weeks, and these things break down often. Boxing coaches are not supportive, advertised as for all levels but the coaches get frustrated when you’re a beginner. Good equipment, but the facility is not clean, massive piles of dust everywhere.
In short, if you’re going to spend the kind of money you would on the premium membership here, go to the Equinox two minutes away. Basic membership may be worth it though.

Just make sure you read the fine print. Was charged double this month for what they say is an every-December maintenance fee which they don’t give you any heads up is coming beyond what you sign when you join. Also the app is mostly for their convenience; if a class is cancelled they will email you but the app doesn’t let you know.

This rating is for “Randy!” Customer service with clients goes a long way. I called today to get more information on why I was charged a maintenance fee in December 2024. When I signed up for this gym membership in 11/2023, I was told by the current manager, Brittany, that this gym would be opened in January 2024. This gym did not open up until September 2024. I called to get clarification as to why I was charged a maintenance fee of $39.00 additional dollars with my membership fee. I was given a run around and was told that the General manager was unavailable and with another member, I then asked to speak with a different person (female) whom I spoke to 2-3 months back regarding another account issue. I was told that she was with another member and I can speak to a “male” from member services. I asked the rep, who I wish I had name, as well; to let me know if Brittany, the GM, would call me back this evening or tomorrow. This unknown employed assured me that I would receive a call from Brittany this evening. I asked for Brittany to give me a call back and to speak with the “male” from member service named, Randy. When speaking with him I asked him to explain to me why I’m being charged maintenance fee for a gym that I haven’t been able to utilize for a year, furthermore; the contract that I signed stated that the maintenance fee would come out on April of the year. Randy stated to me that, I should have been charged a maintenance fee in April 2024. I then asked Randy why would I have been charged a maintenance fee for a gym that wasn’t even open in April 2024? James then told me that my account was frozen and not charged membership fees. I then asked so why wouldn’t the maintenance fee be pro-rated for 4 months as I haven’t been able to go to this gym until September 2024, when I was told it would be opening in January 2024. I then asked so if I’m charged a maintenance fee now in December 2024, would I be charged again in April of 2025. Randy told me no I should not be charged again until December 2025. I then asked so if the contract says that I’m supposed to be charged a maintenance fee in April, why would it be changed to December, which is not what I signed in the contract. Randy said, “Let me check your contract.” Randy then replied, “ I’m going to have, Brittany, give you a call back tomorrow morning.” I told Randy that I work during the day and that the previous employee assured me that I would be receiving a call from Brittany this evening. Randy says, “Brittany is gone and leaving for the day.” I then asked, how do I know that I would not be charged again in April 2025. Run around responses from the first employee representative, and definitely the run around from Randy. Randy then told me the reason why he was to have Brittany call me is because he cannot guarantee me anything. Yet Randy just stated to me that I wouldn’t be charged in April of 2025, but only in December of 2025. Yet Randy is quoting my contractual obligation yet it doesn’t not align with the yearly April maintenance charge that I signed on the contract. But you can’t guarantee me anything? So why say any of these things if you don’t have the authority to back them up? I then told him that I will not be available during the day and an email would not suffice. Randy then said, “I will have Brittany to call you”,and hung up the phone on me. Randy your job is member services and you think hanging up the phone is giving good customer service? Randy nothing you said made any sense, you contradicted yourself many times, and you have the audacity to be rude and hang up the phone. This is the second billing issue I had with this gym, furthermore; member services staff like, Randy, whose rudeness and tactless behavior is not appropriate or appreciated. I never disrespected you Randy, I was just asking “member services” clarity questions, why be a member service representative if you have no decency to, if you even can’t “guarantee” anything, to listen to a client’s issues and not be rude and also hang up the phone? Definitely unprofessional!

Buyer beware - 10 month minimum membership - equipment is breaking already, they had challenges offering full access to all amenities when they opened... first 1-2 months, pool wasn't open, now, equipment breaking, running out of towels (which you also pay extra for); tried to use the hydromassage recovery therapy last night (I paid extra in my membership for the recovery area) and 3 of the 4 machines are broken -- overheating, and if you ask someone at the club, they claim they are waiting on a service ticket and look glum/unwilling/unexcited to reset it for you, enough to give them a pass and walk away w/out the service. Some kind of sediment (looks like sand but who knows) on the bottom of the pool since they opened it, still not cleaned up. Shower temps are already having issues... overall, I suspect whoever constructed this very impressive-on-the-surface gym cut corner after corner; I'd hesitate at the 10 month commitment if I could do it again. Yes, I am going, yes, it's good enough, but for the price without the amenities you paid for when the gym is brand news? Just go in with eyes wide open. Also, if you have zone 3 parking, do NOT pay extra for paid parking -- just park on a side street -- free :)

If you like the Spirit Airlines model of business that nickel and dimes you for every little thing, Onelife is the gym for you. Over the course of my 18 months of membership, Onelife has whittled away the locations I can use, while also raising my monthly rate.
I can’t speak specifically to the new facility’s interior because my membership no longer includes a Tenleytown location. The old space was pretty bad and barely maintained, so I’m sure this is an improvement. And while there’s now apparently a parking garage, you gotta pay an additional membership fee to get free hours in it.
I’ve gotten no communication from Onelife about this change to my access. I was excited about a chain of gyms around the city I live and work in, where I could get a good workout consistently whenever I have the time and proximity — but now I’m down to only being able to use Fort Totten affordably. The lack of communication and clarity is so disappointing, and this is no longer a business I trust. If I had any other viable choice for my gym, I’d take it over Onelife.

Basically a barebones gym with virtually no amenities and second rate fitness equipment. The class schedule is great, but the group exercise main studio has no ventilation, no working a/c and is very poorly conceived. It’s long and narrow, and instructors are required to teach from a 1990s era raised platform in the front of the room with no mirror behind it. Therefore class members cannot check body alignment or otherwise see their own movements. There are mirrors on the side walls, but management dictates that the instructors cannot teach from those walls. Additionally, the platform is not wide enough for instructors to do challenging choreography without falling off the edges or the front, so these classes are boring. If tall people stand in the narrow space in front if the platform, then it is nearly impossible to see the instructor. Invariably, every time I’ve gone every 6+ footer in the class is in the front row. Locker rooms lack towels and blow dryers. Management is totally unresponsive to members’ concerns. This is a second gym membership for me, and it’s cheap. Even so, I don’t feel there’s much value here. I would rather pay more and have a better experience.
