Where to begin? OTF has changed my life, coming up on 6 years at this studio and just can't say enough good things about it! The coaches are amazing, vibes and energy are unmatched, if you are looking for a great community and a fantastic work out that keeps you excited, energized, and pumped, look no further! 😎πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

I never thought I’d become β€œthat person” who wakes up excited for a workout, but here we are. Orange Theory -- I St is the first real exercise routine I’ve ever stuck with, and it’s 100% thanks to their amazing team. The coaches and staff are funny, welcoming, and know exactly when to push me without making me want to run for the door. They care deeply about every person who walks in, no matter your fitness level. I’m stronger, more confident, and a little (ok, a lot) addicted now. Thanks for changing my life, one class at a time.

Over a thousand classes in the books and Orange Theory workouts continue to challenge and inspire me, especially at the Mount Vernon location!! As I get older and life gets infinitely more challenging, I can always count on Orange Theory to keep me motivated and healthy. From the intensity and variation, to the instructors and the music, to the location and the hours, an Orange Theory workout is always challenging, fun, and accessible! The staff and coaches are phenomenal!

I was visiting DC on vacation and needed to get my Marathon Month miles in. I'm so glad that I made the time to attend this location. For those also traveling, it was super convenient to the hotels/convention center in the area. Staff was very nice. I also want to give a big shoutout to Coach Dwayne. Best playlist. Amazing coaching. He didn't just suggest heavier weights. He actually got SUPER granular in terms of recommending custom rep ranges and adding bonus challenges to the template. I'm 900+ classes into OTF and that was an awesome first for me. Couple heads up for visitors: As of now, they do have the old style treads. No big deal, but I know it took me to acclimate to them again. There was a surcharge for me, but it was reasonable (and lower than other metro areas).

I walked in off the street because I needed a restroom for my daughter and an ABSOLUTE ANGEL was at the front desk. Ashley is one of the most genuine people I have ever spoken with. She was so kind with her directions and concern and I was not even a customer (yet). She was so pleasant I asked her about OTF and how to become a member. Ashley explained it with such detail and enthusiam that I was ready to take a class. I know exactly where I’m coming to workout this summer as soon as my daughter is on vacation. I told her I was still going to leave this review. WHATEVER YOU ARE PAYING HER DOUBLE IT!!

A nice place if you don’t care about personal classes, and coaches and staff are really nice. But, they are ruthless with their cancellation/freezing policies.
After having a new baby and going back to work (I’m a physician) I tried to cancel/freeze my subscription for time and financial reasons. The last day of my month I tried to do it, and because it is the day they charged me, they want to charge me TWO more months before cancelling my account due to their policies of not letting them know the month prior (basically one day ago). Absurd, abusive and inflexible even in the setting of trying to cancel for financial and personal reasons. Maybe if they were more empathic and helpful, I would have freeze my account, but this situation made me cancel and will not consider OT again in the future. I guess this is an issue with big gyms like this one, a lack flexibility.

They’re great at keeping you motivated and I always get a really good workout out of my classes.

Extremely predatory pricing. I had an β€œunlimited” membership, and they still looked for every avenue to nickel and dime me beyond that. When I forgot a heart monitor, they gave me a temp one for the day and didn’t tell me they were charging me ten bucks to β€œrent” it for that session. When I booked a class for the next day at 10pm and cancelled an hour and a half later because I wasn’t feeling well, they charged me fourteen dollars for a β€œcancel fee.” When I went in to cancel my unlimited membership as a result, they informed me I was locked in to pay for another TWO full months. I know gyms have a reputation for this sort of thing, but these folks take it to a new level. If you must, do NOT pay for anything but an individual class or two - you will regret it and end up paying hundreds more than you expected.

When the pandemic first hit, I explained to this studio on the phone, that I have a high-risk health condition and had moved from DC, thereby being unable to come into the studio for classes. They agreed to freeze my account. I received a text in early December stating that I must cancel my account before it goes into collections. As I attempted to cancel my account, the staff informed me that they intended to make me pay for at least 3 months of classes, in addition to the cancellation fee. This is unfair, as I had already explained my health condition and situational change to the studio. I agreed to pay the cancellation fee of one month's fees, but they threaten me with collection. It is extremely unfair to attempt to back-bill past months of classes, especially given COVID circumstances.

Horrible sign up experience, zero communication between staff members.

I signed up for a class online then received a text that I still needed to sign up. I thought I was good to go after my text conversation with a staff member, however I got another text the next day from another staff person that I was not actually signed up.

I then received another text that the class was a charity class that was supposed to be "free" or donation-oriented. The same day I learned my friend was not able to attend the class because it was his first time and first-timers are not able to attend 90 minute classes, after he had already signed up.

Since my friend now can not go, I called to see how I would get my money back, a nice woman on the phone said "no problem, we will refund your credit card." I have not received the refund and have since received two additional texts saying I need to sign up for a class.

This time when I called I sounded noticeably frustrated. The front desk's response was sassy saying, "Ok we'll refund you the THIRTY dollars" implying $30 is not a lot of money.

I have still not received my refund.

What is going on at this studio? There doesn't seem to be any communication between the staff. I will be avoiding this place at all costs in the future and recommend others do the same.

Staff was very nice. Dave was a really nice and personable instructor. My first class was a tornado class, which meant there was a lot going on and a lot of movement between different stations. A bit confusing for a first timer, but to be expected, for my first time.

I like that Orange Theory workouts have a lot of variety, in both the layout of each class (moving between rower, treadmill, and floor) and the goals of each workout (endurance and/or strength). The workout makes you work, pushing me harder than I would push myself on my own, and goes by quickly as you listen to the instructor and move between each section. I also appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff is. Initially, I thought it was a little overkill to have to be there 30 minutes prior to my first workout, but that time was valuable to learn how the class works, what to expect, get setup with a heart rate monitor, and review any injuries that the instructor should be aware of. All in all, it was a great experience!

Love my home studio! I have been a member of Orangetheory for over 2 years, and I continue to LOVE this workout. No two workouts are ever the same. The staff at this studio is very friendly and accommodating. They help you understand the policies and work with you on the technology involved. Plus, they added a towel service which I know is not offered at other studios outside of DC area to stay competitive with the intense gym market. You can customize your own workout, so if you are looking for a new challenge but feel intimidated check Orangetheory out.

The teacher and class were fine--what you'd expect from an OTF class. I was a bit disappointed with their customer service from the staff a few weeks later when I called about a billing issue. I was visiting from out of town and I know that some locations are premium or select locations with a surcharge. I was able to book this class through the app and didn't get an alert that this was one of the fancy locations with extra fees. No one called or texted me ahead of time or told me when I checked in at the front desk that there would be an additional charge for the class--then a few days later I see a $10 charge show up. I called and they made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing. I am fine with an additional fee, but it is nice to be told ahead of time that you will be charged. They kept saying it was corporate policy and there was nothing they could do--all OTF are independently owned and operated...so I am pretty sure there was something they could have done other than offer a half-hearted apology that no one told me and make it seem like it was my fault for not knowing they are a select location that charges additional fees.

I came in as a visitor for a couple months while on an internship in DC. I LOVE my Orange Theory studio in Michigan. I love the workout obviously, and that doesn’t change based on studio, but I love the coaches, the staff, the atmosphere. It feels so welcoming and kind. I loved it so much I didn't want to give it up and was willing to pay extra money for this premium studio so I wouldn't miss out during my internship. My experience at this studio, however, has been mostly negative. The music is incredibly loud (which makes me sound 90 I know, but outrageously loud) and when I asked if it was possible to turn it down a little because it physically hurt the coach laughed at me. They did give me ear plugs which I wore each time, and I did appreciate, but even after explaining the effect of an 85+ decibel exposure over an hour and its impact on hearing loss, they made no attempts to change. Some of the coaches are wonderful, while others are pretty intense and drill sergeant-y, which I guess is probably the case in many places but they don't feel as connected to the people as I've felt at other studios. On a particularly tough day I got out of work late due to a student crisis, got stuck in traffic in my Uber, ran two blocks, ran in the door at 4:38 for the 4:30 class and wasn’t allowed in. It wasn’t a full class that was just their policy. I am not normally late to classes, usually crazy early, but the one time an exception couldn’t be made. My studio at home were so kind and understanding about a situation similar to this, but not so much here. I will say a couple staff members and coaches have been nice and friendly, and I don't want to leave the impression that it is all bad. It isn't. There are a couple gentlemen behind the desk, a coach Ashley (I haven’t had all the coaches to be fair), and some wonderful clients who are all there to make it as positive as possible. But, I guess with all the other studios in DC I would suggest finding one that cared a bit more about the clients overall. They are out there and I think in the end it makes a difference.

Beware of cancellation policy. I tried to cancel a few days after a new period started. I had to pay for that entire period (which I expected) plus the entire following month. Orangetheory has a 30 day notice cancellation policy, which means you must pay for the full next month if it starts before the 30 day period is over. After I cancelled, I effectively had 55 more days of service I had to pay for instead of 30.

Be sure to cancel right before a new pay period starts.

Great, supportive environment with knowledgeable staff that take the time to explain before and after how to get the most of your workout, setting SMART goals using a heart rate monitor. While you're gently encouraged, there is absolutely no judgement. To me, this embodies the idea behind fitness training. I hope to see more Orangetheory Fitness Centers like this one in more communities. I'm glad I did it. It's an experience that has to be experienced.

I love Orange Theory Fitness and was visiting from my home gym. Unfortunately I was really disappointed with my experience with this location. In general I didn't find the staff very welcoming; the other members in the classes hardly communicated with each other giving it an unfriendly vibe. The music in the lobby all three visits was inappropriate (curse words, etc). The AC broke--not their fault but a warning would have been nice as it was really hot and humid outside that day. I was warned about the 10$ charge for the honor of coming to their studio? but was assured this was a one time fee. Nope--10$ each class. Nice little surprise on my credit card statement. I called only to be told I must have must have misunderstood and the charges would stand. Next time I will work out in the hotel.
