I started at OTF on 14th street a year ago. I absolutely love it. They are super competent, friendly, and supportive from the staff at the front desk to the coaches. I had a wrist injury recently and I thought I wouldn't be able to workout... But each of the classes I went to, my coach gave me modifications so that I could workout and I was sweating on the floor! It was unbelievable! Huge shout-out to Mel, David M, Chase, Jesse, Laura! I absolutely love the energy they bring to their workouts..Great and wholesome vibes!

I’ve given this group of OTF studios a 5 star review before, but I really wanted to update again as I had another exceptional experience today. I took a completely full 3G Thanksgiving class today with 2 coaches I had never had before. Coach Mel and Coach Laura were really fantastic. Engaging, knowledgeable, fun, and they really made the class feel special. I’ll stress again that this group of studios and all of the coaches and staff are top tier and amazing. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Yes. I froze my account in July 2025. I was unaware that billing would restart automatically. I contacted the studio to ask if at least one of the months from September that I had not attended a single class, could be applied to November. No one was able to help me or answer my questions. I was directed to email a manager. I sent an email on October 27th. I never received a reply or response. Today is November 6th and I called once again for help. I was told they could not find any information about my account ever being frozen and they would not confirm that I could even cancel my account after the next billing cycle! I feel stuck paying for something with no way out! Customer service has never felt less helpful !

I started at OrangeTheory 14th St earlier this year and never want to go to another studio! From the amazing and friendly front desk staff like Rachel, to the encouraging and knowledgeable coaches, this is a place I enjoy coming to weekly. Special shout out to David M., Chase, Mel, Jessie and Laura for making every workout a fun and safe experience!

I’ve been to a few OTF studios in the city, and 14th is definitely the best! Very clean studio & Coach David B is amazing - makes me laugh during class as I’m running on the treadmill. He is also great at correcting form (if needed), which I value a lot when working out, and motivating you to go for that heavier weight if he thinks you’re capable/comfortable (esp since I am sometimes someone who doubts my own strength).
Can’t wait to be back!

The staff in Washington DC 14th st are amazing. I'm from CA and was in DC for a week for a work conference. The team there were exceptional. They remembered my name and workouts were great as usual. I want to especially give a shout out to coach Mel, an amazing coach who's full of energy and motivation. She made me feel at home and even sent me a thank you card when I got back home. That is truly going above and beyond!

I just started OTF a few months ago and love the flexibly of going to another gym, I do travel for work. I was able try another class out of state recently on a visit to see my sister. We did a class at her home gym on 14th St. in Washington DC.
Coach Mel was the instructor and was very welcoming, a lot of fun and had a great workout! Out of the blue at my next workout at my home gym in PA I got a wonderful surprise a thank you note from coach Mel mailed to my OTF gym. This little touch was wonderful and was so sweet! The instructors at my gym said it was a first for them to see mail come in for a client. They were just gushing on how great OTF instructors are and how awesome it was to see the Love!
Thank you to Coach Mel for making me feel like family and I look forward to my next workout in DC!

I want to warn others about what I believe are deceptive practices at Orangetheory on 14th St in DC. What appears to be a simple introductory membership is actually a two-month commitment due to the 30-day cancellation policy that’s never clearly explained. Based on another review from a few months ago, this seems to be a recurring issue at this location.
I signed up for a 2-week unlimited trial and was pressured that same day into purchasing a “month unlimited” package. Despite multiple emails and phone calls while they convinced me to buy the discounted introductory unlimited first month, no one ever mentioned the 30-day cancellation policy. That crucial detail was buried in fine print of the contract (sent as an attachment after they got me to verbally commit), but not included in the body of detailed emails they did send with reminders about everything else.
I called to cancel before the date that had been emailed to me as my regular the renewal date, and the manager assured me it was taken care of. He told me I wouldn’t be charged again and he would follow up if there were any issues. No one followed up, but 10 days later I was charged $232.
When I called to dispute the charge, the managers refused to refund me—even after admitting they had forgotten to send some of the introductory materials and had verbally confirmed my cancellation previously. While the coaches seemed good, the management’s approach to billing and communication felt dishonest and predatory.
UPDATE: The studio replied below suggesting that they were unaware of this issue, however, before posting my original review, I shared this concern in detail with all of the managers at the studio (including writing to the email address that they provide, however no one responded). Their only response was: “We expect everyone to read all of the fine print.”

I came here for fitness accountability and I've gained this and so much more. From the amazing staff who greet you by name every time you show up to the fearless and dedicated coaches who guide you through each workout making 60-minutes a breeze, I find myself grounded and swiftly achieving my fitness goals. At just over a month, I'm down five pounds, stronger than ever mentally/physically, and deeply integrated into a generously kind and welcoming like-minded community.

Big shout out to Coach Jessie at OTF 14th Street! 🧡💪
Coach Jessie brings the energy, the laughs, and the knowledge every time. She's not only funny and motivating, but also incredibly attentive—she made the effort to come around during class to check in on me and others, making sure our posture and form were on point. It made a difference. We appreciate you, Coach Jessie! Keep rocking it and making us all stronger.

I’ve been attending Orange Theory Fitness for a year and a half, logging over 200 classes, and it’s been a game-changer. As someone who’d never joined a class-based fitness program and was skeptical about group workouts versus a gym with personalized routines, I was blown away. The energy from fellow members and the incredible coaches far exceeded my expectations, pushing me weekly to new heights. I’ve seen significant gains in my fitness goals, growing stronger and more motivated with each session.
Coach Mel’s vibrant energy and positivity light up every class. Coach Jesse’s infectious music taste and constant encouragement keep me driven. Above all, Rachel in the front office is the heart of the gym—her warm smile and readiness to help or chat brighten every visit.
I have been attending OTF on a much higher cadence than I ever dreamed of, and will continue so.
Definitely recommend checking it out!

I’ve been visiting multiple Orangetheory studios as part of a personal challenge (108+ workouts), and OTF 14th Street has been one of the most memorable stops so far.
Right when I walked in, I could tell this studio was something special. It’s located underground, which already makes it stand out visually — and it’s honestly one of the coolest OTF layouts I’ve seen. Even coaches from other studios had asked me if I had visited 14th Street yet, so I had to see what the hype was about — and it absolutely delivered.
Andrew at the front desk was amazing — super welcoming, great communication, very professional and charismatic. He made everything smooth and made me feel right at home. Rachel, also at the front, was fantastic with check-ins — super organized and friendly. It’s clear this team takes pride in creating a positive and professional member experience.
I took Strength 50 with Coach Priya, and she was incredible. She paid close attention to every detail, offered thoughtful corrections, and created such a supportive environment. Her attentiveness truly elevated the experience — I felt seen and supported the entire class.
My second class was with Coach Laura, and it was packed with fun energy. She brings a great vibe to the room — she explains every block clearly, keeps the class flowing with confidence and clarity, and makes the time fly. By the end, I genuinely couldn’t believe the class was already over.
As someone who trains daily and approaches fitness as an athlete, I can say I felt in very good hands at this studio. The level of care, professionalism, and energy made it clear that this team truly knows how to deliver not just a workout, but an experience.
This studio is a gem. I’ll definitely be back — and now I fully understand why it’s one of the most talked-about locations.

The past six months at Orange Theory have been an incredible journey! Before joining, I’d only set foot in a gym once or twice in my entire life, and honestly, I never felt the need to make it a part of my routine. I've been going to OTF for approx 3.5 years, and I love the 14th Street studio. The studio is clean; it has good quality equipment; and the members, management, and staff are really welcoming (which is great because I was sooo nervous and very out of shape when I stumbled into OTF for the first time).
Also, the coaches are energentic and motivating (without being annoying), and they do a good job of pushing you to challenge yourself while also encouraging you to modify whatever you need to fit your personal fitness level. And its cool that the coaches correct your weightlifting form during class to help you avoid injury. It's a bit like getting the instruction of a personal training session and the energy/vibe of a group exercise class at the same time. FYI: Coach Mel is a big ball of awesomeness!

I admit I’ve joined the cult.
Friends made this sound way more intense than it actually is- it’s a great workout but you can take it at your own pace and just compete with yourself, as opposed to some of the culty spin studios - where I went so hard I felt like throwing up.
At your first class they walk you through everything before and after the class, which is unusual but in the end is super helpful!
Plus everyone is really friendly and it feels like a community.

Orangetheory 14th Street has me drinking the Kool-Aid—and it’s become a true beacon of hope on my steep journey to recovery.
After being diagnosed with an incurable disease a couple years ago and enduring a 10-month biological treatment at the NIH, I was told that exercise might forever be unavailable to me. A bone marrow condition, which sends my body into anaphylaxis anytime it experiences a change in temperature—from showers, exercise, and sun exposure—left me searching desperately for a way to reclaim a sense of movement and, with it, a sense of life.
That search led me to Orangetheory’s free class. By then, I had tried everything I could think of: barre, cycling, yoga, classical Pilates, swimming. But nothing gave me what I’ve found in Orangetheory —permission to meet myself exactly where I am. No other class hands me a heart monitor and the confidence to approach movement at my own pace, trusting the data, my team of medical professionals, and trusting my body throughout class. On the treadmill, the rower, and the floor, it’s me against me. I can have a green day when needed and I can monitor every second of my workout knowing I’m in control of what I’m asking my body to do. And at the end of every class, I can thank myself for showing up—because that alone is the victory.
At Orangetheory 14th Street, I find so much more than scientifically structured workouts. It’s where I can connect with Coach Jessie, who balances encouragement with genuine care, stopping by to check on me each run—even though she doesn’t know that I carry an invisible disability through those doors every time I take her class. It’s where Coach Mel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays delivers the energy I need most, especially on days when my medication has left me depleted. KD—you’re a boss! And it’s where Chase patiently corrects my form and suggests at-home exercises to help me rebuild strength I thought I’d lost for good.
The OTF studio has given me more than just a place to exercise—it’s given me a lifeline. In a world that told me I will never move freely again, Orangetheory gave me a way to move safely, confidently, and with hope. And for that, I will always be grateful.

I just had a terrible experience at this location. I showed up at 9:30 for a 9:45 class and even though I’ve gone to other Orangetheory locations in the past they refused to let me participate because I wasn’t there THIRTY minutes in advance for an orientation. I’m a busy mom and booked a babysitter to take an hour for myself to get a good workout in and the OTF team’s complete lack of empathy, understanding or compromise lost a customer for life. None of their communications (email or voicemail) made it clear that this orientation was *mandatory* to participate in class. The voicemail said, “if you can arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of class…”, which implied it was optional. You’re setting your participants up for extreme disappointment with these intense policies, and the lack of flexibility or accommodation is incredibly frustrating.

OTF on 14th in DC was a great experience! There was a miscommunication that caused me to miss a class. I reached out complaining, and Abby (I *think* the manager, but possibly an SA) explained what happened and immediately made it right. I felt heard and welcomed and came back for a class the next day.
Additionally, class was awesome! Mel brought energy and expertise, and I felt fabulous walking out the door. Thanks, OrangeTheory 14th Street! Looking forward to coming back.

I've been a member of OrangeTheory on 14th Street since 2019, and I feel like it’s almost a second home for me. The workouts are consistently varied and well-thought-out, keeping things fresh and challenging. The coaches here are truly top-notch: Coach Chase is delightful and always brings great energy to the class, Coach Laura's sense of humor makes every workout fly by, Coach Maddie is the consummate professional, ensuring we all push ourselves while maintaining proper form, and Coach Jessie has been a fantastic addition to the team.
Rachel at the front desk is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, always greeting you with a smile and making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. I don’t often get a chance to take classes with the other coaches due to my schedule, but the few times I have, they've all been excellent. If you're looking for a supportive, fun, and effective fitness community, this is the place to be! (Also the monthly happy hours are a hoot)

My apartment building in collaboration with 14th St Orange Theory offered 2 Free classes and advertised as "no strings attached", I signed up and had my partner sign up as well. When I spoke to them I let them know I am already a member at a different studio and wanting to possibly switch and asked if that was an issue, they confirmed it wasn't and schedule both of us to come in on Saturday. Based on that I planned my weekend
They called the day before my class and let me know that I can not get a free class because I am already a member, clearly the ad saying "no strings attached" has strings attached !
Due to this I am NOT switching to 14th street as my main studio, and I'll have my partner join the studio I now go to. For something that could have been totally avoided they lose 2 customers.

I am totally new to working out and I’m so glad i decided to become a member after my free intro class. I joined during the Black Friday sale - reduced price for unlimited membership and a free heart rate monitor (usually about $100-$120). You can rent a HRM for $15 each class but its not required to wear one. The benefit is tracking your stats in the OrangeTheory app and seeing progress over time.
This location has 3 showers, sweat towels available, and even a vanity mirror with hair dryers in case you need to go somewhere after class. They also often have spray deodorant & dry shampoo available! There are lockers and cubbies to store your bag during class. The layout of this studio is much better than another location I went to. It’s just a big square room which makes it easy to quickly transition between treadmill, rower and weight floor without bumping into anyone else. They have more than enough screens around the room to watch the weight exercise video and check your heart rate. The other location is tried was L-shaped with the weight floor in an awkward corner so it was annoying to turn the corner and there wasnt nearly as much room to spread out or set up a weight bench.
I cannot overstate the quality of the staff at this location. Front-desk agents go above and beyond every day to greet members with a smile and even remember everyone’s names! They provide some special events occasionally such as mobility workshops with guest experts and happy hours near the studio. The coaches are phenomenal, playing fun music during class, cueing all the stations in a timely manner and providing efficient but clear instructions and demonstrations for weight floor. If you have an injury or any orthopedic issues, they will make sure to show you any needed alternatives. They will also kindly correct your form if needed and encourage you to lift heavier if they can tell you’re capable! Coaches also make themselves available by email or set up online or in person consultation to talk about any questions like proper form to nutrition.
If you havent tried OrangeTheory, I highly recommend calling to schedule your first free class. They will check you in early to make sure you’ll be in stations near the coach and go into the workout room before class starts so that you’ll feel comfortable using the treadmill and rower. If you already like OrangeTheory, I’ve heard multiple people say that this is their preferred location in DC-proper.

Where is Jihad???????? He was my favorite coach and the music he played just kept you going. He motivated you, knew most of the people in the class by name and pushed you to be better. Today, I go to sign up for my usual 8:30 AM Class on Friday and I notice, No Jihad. I think, may its just this week, I keep looking, NO JIHAD! What a loss for the studio. Chase is also a good coach (although I wish he'd play more hip hop/R&B) and so is Bri who sometimes coaches there, but I don't get the same motivation or coaching from other coaches the way I did from Jihad. This Studio, its inconsistent practices and just general OTF practices have really been making me reconsider whether or not I will continue to be a member of OTF and I've been a member since 2018. Review should really be a 3.5.

The new management has gotten rid of the best coach and this place is going down the tubes fast. TLDR; JOIN US AT MEAN14!!
I have been a member at OTF 14th street since June 2021. I cannot express enough gratitude and praise for the coaches and staff at this location. I love Orangetheory as a whole and have been to numerous studios, but I also feel like the community and staff really create a different atmosphere that fosters support and encouragement. I have always been into working out and fitness, but I had lost motivation and drive to stick to a consistent routine during the pandemic (and even beforehand haha).
During the first week, I spoke with Head Coach Jihad about my fitness goals and wavering motivation. Jihad has continuously provided individual support and guidance that have far surpassed what I thought I was capable of (and of course, his music and dance moves help too). I increased my jogging base pace from 4.5 mph to 8.0 mph over this past 1.5 years and cut my mile time in half. Being able to do the InBody scans in the studio has been super helpful in tracking progress and boosting confidence/ seeing visible results. I truly do not believe that I could have achieved anywhere near my current stats without each of the staff members.
All of the coaches are absolutely amazing and really try hard to know each person's name, fitness levels, and goals. Special shout out to Coach Bri, Coach Gabi, Coach Chase, Coach Luke, and Coach Meghan for the individual help, fire music, energy, and the extra pushups/burpees (though, often not welcomed at the time).
I think a huge part of my positive experience is the staff. Lauren, Fabi, Aria, Korey, Joe, Martha, Rachel, Elle, Natale, Kendall and Yvonne are awesome and welcoming. Whether it's about scheduling, templates, or just life, the staff and coaches have been my biggest source of support.
Our nickname is Mean14, but the community is the best (and not mean to others)! We are mean in spirit to reach our goals and encourage others to do the same (with a healthy competitive attitude as well). I have made so many strong friendships at OTF14thst and it is a wonderful experience to have this community working hard along side me.
The workouts are challenging, but manageable (and if they're not, I've been known to take a *few* extra walking recoveries- and that's OK!). I know that it can be intimidating to start something new, but I HIGHLY recommend this studio and this community as the place to do so.
Recap:
-Challenging Workouts
-Encouraging and Awesome Community
-Amazing/Knowledgable Coaches
-Fire Music
-Welcoming Staff

The staff go out of their way to know every one by name and make them feel welcome - shout out Lauren and Aria! The coaches are all amazing, especially Jihad and Bri. They bring so much energy to every single class and make even the most challenging workouts fun. Personally, I’ve seen myself improve so much since joining and I can’t thank the coaches enough for pushing me beyond my limits. If you’re thinking about joining just do it! You’ll improve in ways you never thought you could and you’ll make amazing friends along the way!

I have loved working out at OTF 14th St. The energy there is unparalleled and the coaches truly bring their all to each work out. I have noticed that the coaches make an effort to learn every single person's name and motivate each individual throughout the workout. Special shout out to Coach Bri as she pays attention to your speeds/what you can lift and will know how to alter the workouts to push you to be stronger and faster. I have noticed that after her classes I am now able to lift heavier weights. Jihad also deserves a special shoutout for bringing his high energy to each class and putting in effort to ensure everyone has proper form so we don't get hurt. The OTF 14 is excellent for getting in shape and pushing one's fitness to the next level. You see and feel results, a sense of community makes regular workouts fun, and the coaches are excellent.
At least for me, the workout has been effective for getting back in shape and feeling fitter and stronger (after almost a two-year break from any regular exercise). The studio and coaches work with you to understand your goals and offer plenty of challenges to those who have already advanced. I'm also happy that in addition to regular classes (which combine cardio and strength training), the studio offers a good number of just strength training classes, allowing deeper work on muscle definition.
The coaching staff deserves a separate mention. Coach Jihad is absolutely phenomenal. He talks to everyone before each class, explains all exercises in detail, and finds time to pay attention to everyone in the class, gently ensuring that each student has the correct form, gets personal attention, and feels motivated and included. Plus, he is naturally engaging, so his classes are always fun and exciting. Coach Bri is another excellent choice in terms of her explanations and energy, being potentially the most genuinely positive and happy person I have ever encountered.
The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and Yvonne does a fantastic job at remembering everyone and creating a welcoming experience. They are pretty strict about late arrivals, but in their defense, this is consistent with the rules.
Lastly, if you sign up, take advantage of the technique workshops offered, as they helped me to have better form and get more out of the regular workouts.

Super simple instructions for each portion of the workout and you're always competing against yourself. No need to compare yourself to everyone else's progress.

The coaches here are absolutely fantastic. However, the management here is terrible. The management needs to be more clear about their policies. Something as simple as posting what the late arrival window is, in the window would be helpful, but the policies seem inconsistently applied, and I have been told different things on different days. I have also been told different things than what other members have been told.
The coaches here are absolutely great, but the studio is badly managed. Every time I come, I am given a completely different set of policies. For example, I was on the waitlist, and asked to wait 10 minutes for the people who were signed up for class to have their window, and I was allowed in after 12 minutes. So I missed 15 minutes of a 45-minute class. However, when I next came and was seven minutes late, I was told the window was five minutes. Next time, I was told the window was three minutes. Different rules for different people, apparently, or just a manager who does not have a consistent set of policies.
An easy way to ensure that there are not different rules for different people is to just post somewhere, for example, on the window of the studio what exactly the window of arrival is. We are already constrained to not arriving more than five minutes early, due to Covid, and that is posted on the window. So it would make the policy clear for everyone to know what the late arrival window is as well.
My sense is that they don't want to be clear about it because they do, in fact, have different rules for different people, as I have regularly been on the waitlist while others are given ten minutes to arrive.
Most recently, I arrived just outside of a three-minute window (mind you, I've been told previously that it was ten...and on a different day that it was five). I had both called and texted, as staff members had previously advised me to do. (Apparently, it doesn't actually matter to do this, but again, I am being told different things by different people. I might have arrived on time if I hadn't spent my time following what I was told were the rules.) I was okay with the fact that they had to give my spot away to someone else. However, since I arrived just outside of the window, I asked whether I could be put into a later class that day. I was told that it was considered a "no-show," so I was charged $28 for a "no-show," even though I did, in fact, show, as previous staff members have told me to do. I believe the staff members are doing their best, but the studio manager has not provided a consistent set of policies, as I have communicated with her.
I have attended OrangeTheory for five years in all different cities throughout the US - Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Long Beach, New York City, Seattle... the list goes on...I have never encountered a studio with such inconsistent policies before. When there are different rules for different people, this really makes one wonder what the reason for that is...
That said, the coaches are phenomenal, and the staff are great people and are doing their best. Management holds the responsibility for this.

On February 12, 2022, I visited the Orange Theory on 14th street after responding to an advertisement on Facebook/Instagram. It said if I signed up I would receive a free class. I put in my email and did not respond to the repeated calls to get me to come try their studio (see virtual voicemail messages from studio). Finally, after many calls I picked up the phone and the associate convinced me to sign up for a class. They said it would be free and that when I attend I just need to arrive early and fill out my paperwork online before class. I did all that and was at the class.
When I arrived to class this morning and checked-in an associate calls me across the room and says, "Are you David!? You need to pay for the class!" I couldn't hear because we were all masked so I walked closer to understand the situation. And she says that because I previously took a class at another Orange Theory I needed to pay for the class. They offered so me sort of preferred rate but by that time i made a decision to leave because I felt disrespected. I was frustrated and said I would leave and take the SoulCycle class around the corner.
I even referred a full paying friend to come with me to the class that morning. We both left to go to the SoulCycle Survivor class at 9:30am the team at SoulCycle were welcoming and treated me and my friend with respect.
In none of my calls or text with OT did they say I would have to pay for class. In fact, they said it would be free when I chatted with the associate. If they let me know in advance instead of cornering me 20 minutes before class, I may have been more understanding. I wish that they had outlined expectations a little bit better especially since I scheduled this class two weeks in advance.
Needless to say I had a very bad experience. I was upset and I just feel my customer experience was not up to par. My friend and I are now probably not going to this OT in the future. I just cannot believe how this experience turned out.

She was also thinking of joining a gym and I was highly recommending her to join OTF. I signed us up over the phone with Evon and let her know it will be my friend’s first time here. When we arrived 30 min before our work out, there was no one at the front desk for a while. Then when Evon finally came, we find out my friend was not added on to the roster and claimed we were “late”. Evon was being unkind and not understanding that we had called to have my friend try out a class before getting a membership. Evon was arguing back that your friend shouldve called back and that i didnt provide her information, even though she knew I was bringing a potential new member beforehand. She failed to put her on the roster and failed to communicate properly. I ended up cancelling my work out and we left disappointed and unhappy. I felt embarrassed and letdown because i clearly overhyped OTF and, when i brought my friend here the OTF staff did not care about their current member and potential new one.

First time at this gym. Was visiting DC from NJ and took a 2G 45min class. Everyone including the coach was great! Highly recommend OTF!! 🔥🧡

1st Visit:
The team was friendly and welcoming. It made me less nervous before meeting the coach. Luke is such an engaging and motivating coach. He was awesome. The workout class was challenging but oh so worth it. I’ll definitely be back on Thursday.
Update: I joined in May. The coaches, the classes, and the location is amazing. I have recommended OTF to all of my colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Love Coach Jihad, Coach Maddie, and Coach Luke- OTF on 14th is my favorite.

I was a member 2 years ago and I was interested in joining Orange Theory again, it's obvious the people that worked there before are gone because the level customer service has declined. I've called on seperate occasions inquiring about rejoing and my questions and concerns due to covid. I WAS not greeted very friendly and the persons on the phone aren't able to give much information. This disappointing hopefully when the manager is available my questions can be answered.
