Amazing!!! This is the best place to get a real understanding of YOGA. Not just asana, but YOGA. It is unique, and there are rules to follow, but yoga is a discipline and learning that is part of the practice. If you are looking for a profound experience, IMHO there has to be reverence for the tradition, and you will find it here (whether house music is pumping and you're flowing in Vinyasa or devotional music is flooding the room while you melt away in Anuttara Raja Yoga). It is truly an honor to train with Yogacharya Philip Christodoulou, who founded Anuttara Yoga Shala, and has dedicated his life to studying, practicing, and teaching Yoga. If you take his classes, you will understand why, but please start with Hatha or Anuttara Raja...do not start with Vinyasa! :) If you're looking for a strong but gentle intro or re-entry into yoga, I highly recommend Hatha to Raja with Michelle Rasner-Cash, one of my favorites! There is something for everyone and the desk staff will guide you if you ask. They are also kind and friendly souls who know their stuff. Namaste! See you on the mat...

I’ve practiced yoga at many studios, but nothing compares to the transformative experience here. The space feels genuinely special, and the classes are both challenging and accessible, with thoughtfully crafted sequences for every level (though the vinyasa class is best suited for advanced practitioners). What truly sets these classes apart is Philip’s remarkable ability to weave spiritual themes and inspiring stories into every sequence, making each session a meaningful journey for body, mind, and spirit.

I also want to highlight the studio’s approach to hot yoga etiquette, especially around sweat safety. In hot yoga, sweat is expected, and the Shala is clear about bringing a large towel—both to minimize impact on others and to clean your space afterward. During a recent class, I practiced beside a student whose sweat unintentionally affected those nearby. Philip addressed this with kindness, even offering a beach towel, and maintained a focus on safety and respect for everyone. The student, unfortunately, had a reaction to this, I suspect they may have been struggling to see the situation from anyone else's perspective. In group settings, emotions sometimes run high; if someone finds their emotional response out of proportion to the event, support from a therapist may be beneficial. Of course, continuing a mindful yoga practice is also invaluable for self-awareness and well-being.

I highly recommend this studio to anyone seeking skilled guidance, a unique setting, and a deeply meaningful yoga experience.

I have been coming here on and off for years and while some of their practices have been a little quirky (discouraging wiping sweat, prescription of very specific variations of poses), I have attended classes there because I like many of the teachers and it is conveniently close to my house. They have a towel requirement in hot classes and I always bring extra towels to clean my sweat from my mat after class. I do not place the towel on my mat during the class because I have neuropathy from chemotherapy that makes it very uncomfortable to feel a towel under my hands. I sweat a lot so I use a yoloha cork/rubber mat that is actually incredibly grippy when wet for this very reason. Placing a towel on it makes it lose grip and very uncomfortable with the chemo neuropathy I have.
Students are expected to clean their space after class so I always bring multiple towels with me and am INCREDIBLY thorough in cleaning my sweat. In a recent class with the owner, he started making more and more passive aggressive comments about sweaty mats and safety and "unpleasantness" which I found odd but didn't realize they were directed at me until he called me in front of about 25 people for merely having the towels surround my mat (keeping my sweat on the mat and off the floor) and not using the towel on the mat making it clear that he has been basically directly all this passive aggressive sweat-shaming at me. Never have I felt more uncomfortable or unwelcome in a yoga class. I have been to his classes before, had a very sweaty and safely grippy mat (thanks, yoloha!) and yet he felt it necessary to call me out and seemingly try to humliate me in front of the entire yoga class when he even IRONICALLY HAS A RULE NOT TO WIPE YOUR SWEAT. What does it matter aesthetically to anyone that I have a sweaty mat when that sweat is contained on my mat and promptly and thoroughly cleaned at the end of class (that almost always starts late and ends late FYI) I wish I didn't have 6 more classes left on this class pack that will now go to waste, but I will NEVER step foot in this studio again. There are plenty of studios with kind teachers out there.

Beyond grateful for this studio and for the authentic Raja yoga practice that it delivers. I’ve practiced “yin” and “restorative” yoga at other studios and the Raja classes go far beyond what I’ve experienced elsewhere over the past 20 years of practicing. Since coming here regularly I no longer suffer from vertigo, insomnia, or lower back pain. The instructors are very knowledgeable when it comes to the science of yoga and always deliver a very thorough and effective class.

LOVE this Shala!
Been coming for about a year and it’s been life changing. Phillip is a master yoga instructor who shares his knowledge in every class and leads the best Yoga Training Center anywhere! A great variety of classes, training and special events like sound baths, Tea & Mantra, Ariel along with Vinyasa, Hatha and my favorite, Anuttara Raja. Classes are heated or room temperature.
You haven’t fully experienced Yoga til you take a class here. Every instructor is top notch!

I really have been enjoying my classes with Jackie. After my third session, I was able to realize I have sleep anxiety. At night my mind was always racing, jaw tight, just no sleep! Since I started yoga I have been more aware of my breathing, tension in my body and it has helped me to truly relax. The tension in my neck is gone, my hips are getting looser and I’m sleeping better. I highly recommend.

Also my son attends the children’s sessions and he absolutely LOVES Jackie! I HIGHLY recommend yoga sessions for the whole family

Truly one of the best if not THE best yoga studio in the US (and I’ve been to a lot!). The sequences are carefully thought out so that you never injure yourself whilst opening & strengthening. The music is so good, it feels like being in a club/concert because the sound system is top and the lighting is perfect. The whole thing has been thought out with much love & care. Philip is a true yogi & his wisdom is an honor to be a witness of. A bow down to you! Namaste 🙏🏽

Anuttara Yoga Shala is more than just a studio—it is a sanctuary for those seeking the deeper dimensions and ancient teachings of yoga. The Hatha classes embody the essence of balance and force, cultivating strength and stillness in equal measure. The Vinyasa flows are intelligent and intentional, weaving breath and movement with philosophy into a seamless meditation in motion. But it is in the Raja yoga offerings that the true depth of this space reveals itself—guiding practitioners beyond the physical into the realms of inner stillness and self-inquiry. Every class is infused with authenticity, reverence, and a profound understanding of yoga’s transformative power. This is a place for seekers, for those who wish to not only practice yoga but to live it.

I have been practicing yoga for 10 plus years and consider myself to be an accepting and adaptable student regardless of the studio I am in. My consistent understanding of yoga revolves around tolerance and understanding for all students through all walks of life. This school is the active embodiment of the exact opposite of the latter principles. I can appreciate the studio and the cleanliness and facilities- I enjoyed the flooring and students seemed welcoming. The issue comes with the tyrannical environment of this studio from the teacher I attended. At no point in any yoga discipline should a teacher scold a student for simply wiping sweat out of their eyes in order to simply see and practice at my full potential. It was almost like this teacher had no interest in bettering my practice but instead honed in on their rules and regulations that are not advertised before booking a class. If this studio is so concerned with their clientele, I recommend not opening doors to the public and instead promoting a private environment where rest assured no one will be drinking water out of unison.

The environment of the studio was amazing, and at face value the people were great. I took two classes with Michelle and will say I will not be coming back. I am not as experienced as I’d like to be, and have very low blood pressure which makes me feel very light headed. I was called out time after time, and told I was only allowed to drink water in unison. I felt singled out and uncomfortable which is exactly what yoga is NOT about. I respect that this is a specific kind of school, however being ridiculed for wiping sweat, drinking water, and taking a break, this is not something I can confidently recommend. I was hoping to find a local studio I could learn and grow at, and unfortunately I just left with less confidences

My friend Sandi and I took Jacky's class on Saturday (1-11-25) I have known Jacky for a long time I volunteered in her classroom years ago with the kids and every experience was amazing. I felt like I stepped into a little bit of heaven Every time I stepped into the classroom so I know her energy is unbelievable. I kept telling my friend you're gonna love her class because her energy is just so great and once again Jacky never disappoints. The class was wonderful. I stretched areas of my body that I don't think I have stretched before and I could tell where I was holding a lot of stress. It was magical. Thank you so much, Jacky. I would highly recommend her class to anybody. ♥️♥️♥️💕💕💕💕

I’ve been following Philip Christodoulou, the incredible instructor at Anuttara Shala Yoga, for over 13 years. From Deerfield Beach to Delray, and now in Fort Lauderdale, every location has been a sanctuary of wisdom and growth. Philip is deeply spiritual, always encouraging us to focus on our own journey without comparison, while gently inspiring us to practice for the incredible benefits yoga offers.

I practice 90-minute hot yoga here, and it’s been life-changing. The staff is very friendly, and the other teachers are highly knowledgeable. The studio has a warm, welcoming community. I highly recommend it to everyone! :)

I was incredibly blessed to wander into Anattara Yoga School over 12 years ago as a first-time student. It was my introduction to classical yoga, and the experience planted seeds that have grown throughout my life. Over the years, I’ve found myself returning to places like this, seeking Raja Yoga to help manage body pain and chronic illness.

Recently, I decided to fully immerse myself in Anattara’s teacher training program, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. The program provided me with an incredible foundation—not just in yoga postures, but in philosophy, mindfulness, and self-discovery.

Phillip, who runs the school, is an extraordinary teacher. His depth of knowledge, warmth, and dedication to the practice make him a true pillar of the yoga community. The supportive and welcoming environment he’s cultivated at Anattara is a reflection of his passion for sharing the gifts of yoga.

I highly recommend this studio to anyone, whether you’re new to yoga or looking to deepen your practice. The incredible community and wisdom you’ll find here will inspire and transform you.

Went there few times before (few months ago) and did not really fully vibed with Michelle. She is kinda dry and unpleasant to deal with. For that very reason we signed up for a class with an owner Phillip. Today I took my fiance and friend with me and she was extremely unpleasant at the front desk. Our friend is black skinned and she was acting in a racist manner towards him. This is so bad for any person to experience and I felt really bad when he told us AFTER the class :(
Furthermore - I think Phillip is even worse than her. He is just giving very toxic and controlling vibes. He said multiple times during 90 minutes class that nobody should leave the class before it ends because it’s gonna be very bad and disrespectful. As much as I overall would agree with it - the way he said it was very controlling, some lady next to us literally said under her nose that she needed to go to toilet.. Nobody left the class. I regret I didn’t because overall it wasn’t even good - vibes were terrible and safe to say we never coming back. It’s the opposite for what yoga is supposed to be (especially on a Friday night)

This place is awesome in general but if you use class pass prepare to be shamed throughout the class which obviously is not what you are looking for when going to practice yoga, however I understand why the instructor feels cheated by class pass because whoever set up their credits set them up very low which is unusual , my two cents will be Instead of shaming people that come to class for using class pass, just up your credits like the rest of the places or send an email to whoever signs up through class pass informing them of whatever expectations you have or just don’t offer class pass at all .
You can’t accuse people of being cheap and taking advantage of the “offer” when you set up the price very low in the app.
Up your price and be happy , don’t shame people for your lack of understanding of how the app works for the user.
If it wasn’t for the shaming portion I would’ve given it 5 stars.

I did not feel welcomed. The worst experience I’ve ever had at any yoga studio. The instructor, Philip, was extremely toxic. Yelled at multiple people for not doing exactly what he wanted them to do when he wanted it done. Although he never yelled at me, it made me feel very uncomfortable the way he be belittled and ridiculed newer people who could not perform to his liking. He also yelled at the front desk girl in front of the entire class. She was the nicest person there. He was very judgmental on everyone but himself. This guy should NOT be an instructor as you can see from the other comments he promotes a community of hate and confrontation. He is very quick to anger and hyper controlling.

Title: Experiencing the Bliss: A Yoga Class Beyond Amazing

Introduction:
Yoga, an ancient practice that combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation, has been captivating people for centuries. It offers numerous benefits for the mind, body, and soul. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a yoga class that surpassed all my expectations, leaving me in a state of pure bliss…

1. The Skillful Instructor:
The foundation of any exceptional yoga class lies in the guidance of a skilled instructor. Jackie not only possessed a deep understanding of yoga but also had the remarkable ability to create a harmonious atmosphere. Her soothing voice, clear instructions, and gentle guidance made the session not only educational but also deeply meditative.

2. The Perfect Ambiance:
The ambiance of the yoga class played a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience. The room was tastefully decorated with calming colors and soft lighting, creating a serene and peaceful environment. The carefully selected background music further added to the soothing atmosphere, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the practice.

3.Encouraging and Supportive Environment:
One of the most remarkable aspects of this yoga class was the sense of community and support among participants. The instructor fostered an environment of acceptance and non-judgment, allowing everyone to practice at their own pace and comfort level. This created a safe space where individuals could explore their limits, challenge themselves, and celebrate their progress without any pressure or comparison.

Conclusion:
Attending this yoga class was not just a physical exercise but a soul-nourishing experience. From the skillful instructor to the tranquil ambiance, every element contributed to the class's exceptional nature. It reminded me of the transformative power of yoga and its ability to bring harmony and balance to our lives. If you ever get the opportunity to attend a yoga class that goes beyond the ordinary, I highly recommend embracing it with open arms. Namaste.

I joined Anuttara about 3 months a go. I have dabbled off and on since 2016. My primary purpose in returning was therapeutic. The physical pain had become so much and a belief it yoga could bring relief.

When I entered the building there was an energy I hadn’t experienced at previously with yoga and studios. There is a reverence, peace, calmness, which felt deep to my core. It was intriguing and was one contributing factor to why I am still there.

I hadn’t done “heated” yoga prior and had this fear I was going to pass out, or something bad would happen. No stories to go off, just the story I told myself, lol.

After a regular session of yoga with Michelle and she was great I decided to try out the 7AM yoga class that runs Tuesdays/Thursdays. It was a meditative flow and allowed me to “tip the toe” into hot yoga. And I was not disappointed.

Sarah instructs the class. She kind, warmhearted, and an exceptional teacher. She really cares and you can tell. For someone new, she was the perfect fit. And the time works great with my schedule.

After a few sessions, I had the courage to join Phillips class. I had shared with my friends were ideas going. They knew him for years back and noting but positive things to say about him and what they learned from him while being taught.

Phillip didn’t disappoint. The instruction, since of humor, incorporating spirit, mind and body is transformative. He truly has a unique energy that slows him to touch many lives in different ways. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, you will love Anuttara.

My overall quality of life has improved in part by incorporating my new yoga family into my life.

For someone that was “scared” of the unknown, I have no regrets and no plans of leaving anytime soon!

Thank you Phillip, Sarah, Michelle and all you you keep this place up and running! It really is transforming lives one person at a time.

My first week. A weekly pass for $50. Such relief for so many 'ailments'. 2 days to go. Tomorrow will be the 4th, 90 minute class. I'm talking stenosis, and all that goes with it. I am 71 yrs old. I never thought I would like a heated class. Raja is fascinatingly healing and education. With spirital sprinkles all over and topped with positivity. 5 stars all the way. Bring 2 waters and towels. Thank you Phillip.

Some people have only taken fru fru yoga previously! 😂😂Positive energy and good vibes!!

Kind, knowledgeable and welcoming staff.
Understanding vibe for being just a couple minutes late.
Clean and accommodating facilities.
Pleasant and helpful in class communication about schedule changes/updates.
And- not that Anuttara can control this, but the student population was non-judgemental.

And for some constructive input- I thought the studio could be just a bit hotter 😊

Thank you.

DIRECTIONS: on the SE corner of Federal & Oakland, FACING NORTH (Oakland Pk & the Target store), there is a door with ANUTTARA on it & large plants on either side of it, past the pizza place & vegan restaurant, The Shala (studio) is upstairs! You can park in front on the north side or the east side in parking lot.

Quite simply, there is no place better in the southeast for yoga classes. The teachers are all classically trained with extensive knowledge and understanding of the science. Once a person takes a class at Anuttara, they will remain there for the rest of their yogic life!

As a matter of fact, after you attend the master class with owner & teacher, Philip, you’ll find every other ‘Shala’ (formal name for yoga teaching schools) to be just studios that imitate. The magic, visually stunning rooms, authentic music and variety of class options will quickly help you realize, there is only one Anuttara and your search will be over!

This is where the majority of truly masterful teachers train to become teachers! Please understand, this is true, authentic yoga…not a gym class or an add on or a trendy studio! This is as close to an original Indian ashram as you’ll find in SoFla. Be ready to experience REAL YOGA, which just might change your life from the inside out!

I purchased to attend a class and when I show up I don’t find the studio. Their address is the address for School of Rock. Anuttara yoga is an awesome studio for those with an advance practice. It’s strict on its students following the instructor & not doing their own thing. But, they are lax on timeliness, so it’s ok to arrive late (but be quite 🤫). It’s heated & is 1 1/2 hrs. They are accepting to all & has a great community, but as stated, it’s advanced so be ready for a workout. I advise bringing a mat, towel, and PLENTY of water.

Best yoga studio I've ever been to. I was doing yoga throughout south Florida and knew I needed something with more intention, something "more spiritual" for lack of a better word. I absolutely LOVE Anuttara Yoga Shala!
My 1st class I every experienced was 2009 the 1st week Anuttara, Deerfield Beach opened.
My friend from college encouraged me to come explore. It was definitely challenging YET I stuck with it for over a decade. Each practice I was committed to surrender unhealthy habits & mental pain which in time Dissolved from my Life. Yoga shaped me into who I grew into presently.
My teacher Philip always mentioned, save a Soul, invite a friend to join you. Eventually I became Certified in Hatha & Raja Yoga!! Definitely a Liberating LIFESTYLE.

Anuttara has changed my life in more ways than I can articulate or even try and put into words. This isn't your typical yoga studio where you get into positions and then walk out the door. From the moment you walk in, to the moment you're rolling up your mat and walking out the doors, something very profound happens. The instructors gently guide you through different poses, all which have a deeper meaning behind them, that essentially help your body and mind to remove blockages you've accumulated over time. While you're on that mat, you can feel a transformation being made and the connection to spirit growing. After going to Anuttara consistently for 2 months, I can honestly say I have never in my life felt this good mentally and physically. If you want the best yoga around, Anuttara is the place to go.

I used to attend the Raja Yoga classes at Anuttara in Deerfield Beach, where I used to live, over 10 years ago with Philip. Once they moved north to Del Ray I gave up on Yoga as I could never find a Yoga studio that offered this type of class. Over 10 years later while driving home to Coral Ridge, where I live now, I see the Anuttara logo on the top floor of the School of Rock building so I say to myself this is destiny and I have to reestablish my connection with Anuttara. Just had my first Raja class in over 10 years this morning with Mike Oliveira ,who is an amazing instructor, and I loved it. If you don't know Raja, in simple words, I would describe it as a great way to stretch your body and relax your mind. Think about it as a stress reduction session. It is mostly done on the ground and it welcomes beginners and others in higher levels. Mike has taught a great class where he opened my eyes to remind me how great it is when a soul learns to control their mind allowing the body to be free. Regarding the facility, it is in a very accessible location with easy parking. Bathrooms have benches for changing, cubbies are available to store your personal items. Place is newly remodeled, very clean and it has both hot and regular rooms. It has showers as well. I highly recommend it. Ask for a free trial class if you are not sure.

I was drawn to Anuttara Yoga because the practice is unlike any other I’ve ever experienced. My first Anuttara Yoga teacher was Sean Greentree and I was instantly hooked on his practice. The combination of teachings from the sacred Hindu texts on how to walk the path of life while moving through a flow of Asanas like a dance was simply captivating. The use of mudras and bandas elevate the practice! All of the teachers are extremely knowledgeable in both Yoga poses and Hindu scriptures. AnaSa Devi’s class is very energetic. She is also very knowledgeable on the Hindu scripts and Asanas. I love that she gives the opportunities to try different variations of poses to try and try again! All of the teachers are incredibly strong in their practice. It’s hard to find that. Anuttara Yoga Shala is a special place. It’s a must try. You will love it. Find your new home here.
