Active duty. Deployed in Iraq. Tried canceling my membership through ABC solutions support email. They cant do anything becuase I have to physically be in person to do so. I cannot call internationally because of the time zone difference and it is impossible for me to show up. They are thieves and a disgrace to active duty service members.

I joined as the advertisement was a group of women age 50+ wanting to join a group and lose weight.

It was a group of 3 then 5 then 3 again, different people every time and not women my age.

I got covid, the trainer left.. I forgot to cancel and got that $16 every 2 weeks and thought maybe I’ll go back.

False portrayed when I joined and left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Just cancelled my membership today it is possible! Had to fly down from Chicago to do it but I just made a trip out of it. The girl was really nice, the trainers were great no complaints there, however I had to pay the annual $44 Maintenance fee that comes out every April (that’s in 6 business days from when i cancelled)and because I’m only 9 business days before the next billing I had to pay for next month $28+. Advice I have is make sure that you do it within 10 business days of your next billing that way you only have to pay the $44.

I’ve been to a few Anytime fitness locations around Florida and this one is the best I’ve seen. However, my only complaint would be that when there’s a problem with the key reader at the door, there should be a method to contact someone and let them know that you are unable to access the gym. I showed up a little before 7 AM this morning and the key reader was not functioning. Of course the doorbell goes nowhere apparently. I rang it and waited three or four minutes and got a recording and that was about it. Otherwise it’s a very good gym and the layout of the equipment is pretty thoughtful.

I’m a long time member of the fitness classes. Jonny is a really good coach. The classes are small so he identifies each participant’s level and sets up exercises with modifications for your ability, if needed. There’s no jumping around or getting down on the floor but there’s lots of variety. You’ll be amazed at what you can do with Jonny’s guidance and his smiling support. Give him a try you’ll be glad you did.

Great place to workout! I initially signed up for group classes for 6 months and let me tell you, Jonny is the best!! He is a personal trainer who also led our classes. Jonny challenged, instructed, corrected and pushed me to do my best! He went above and beyond to make sure I am ready and comfortable to transition to workout in the gym on my own!! This is huge for me! He not only worked with me in the classroom but also around the gym, explaining and correcting where i needed help. I got most of my results in the one moth since Jonny joined Anytime Fitness.
Today I am an Anytime Fitness member, because of him.

This rating is based on Elder abuse. They take advantage of elderly that don't speak fluent English... having them sign on for $300/month classes when they just went in for the trial class. The elderly thought it was a waiver for the class since she doesn't read English. This is NOT okay, and shouldn't represent North Port.

Signed up for 18 session group training and was with Zach. He has been wonderful to work with. Class has been good, and he allows me to push myself even harder with encouragement. He listens, as I mentioned it would be great to learn the machines also and he created a class for that but in the morning. I then requested an evening class for us working folk and he added an evening class for machines. He is always positive and helpful. He also does single one on one sessions and I would recommend him.

I have been there 11 years. It has changed majorly over the years. The people who work there are very unfriendly. They have favorites that go there. If you want to sit on cell phones or walk around and gossip this is the gym for you. If you want a real gym where you can use the equipment and get a hard workout stay away from here. If the manager does not like what you say they will lock you out.

For the manager, there is no discrepancy in the facts stated here, like you say on other reviews.

Good luck to anyone trying to cancel their gym membership here. It's harder than trying to close your bank account. It's really frustrating how hard they try to nickle and dime you when you just want out! I showed up with letter in hand and everything required, and they still tried to give me a hard time just to cancel a monthly subscription.

It's also the smallest gym I went to with a small amount of equipment. I went here for 6 months just because it was close by.

UGH!! The doors are still locked at 10:26 am on Sunday, September 3rd!! Numerous members have called the site without success, the business/manager phone isn't working, FB won't take messages and we can't leave a review. We've even been pressing the RING doorbell leaving messages without success.

More importantly our hats go off to Dominic for the way he handled an unfortunate incident by one of the members who behaved inappropriately with his phone usage and rude comments. The owner and Son (assistant manager) are TERRIBLE.
I tried several times to cancel my membership. I was told I was signed into a contract and couldn’t.
Today I called and asked to speak to a manager. The young gentleman laughs and says he’s the assistant manager. I told him I would like to leave a message for the manager. He was to what I assume, offended and laughed again. He took down my name and number. Asked me for my message.
I told him I wanted to speak to the manager about either pausing my membership or canceling entirely. He said it wasn’t possible.
I insisted on leaving the message to her anyway.
She calls me later, she asked me what the emergency was. And I told her I didn’t have an emergency. I was trying to pause my account or cancel entirely, and only a manager could do that for me. She tells me she can’t help me at all. She can’t do anything for me.
I tell her okay, that’s fine. However I won’t be coming back into the gym. The front desk gentleman, made me very uncomfortable. The way he spoke to me and laughed at me.
She then tells me the gentleman is her son. That he is a Minor. That I am not allowed to call the gym anymore. She also says I was being rude and erratic. She said she heard through the security system, our entire conversation.
I was not rude. I didn’t even say anything about him laughing at me. I ignored his outbursts. Trying to just get my point across.
I told her that she was lying. For one, because if she really did hear the conversation through security system, she would be upset at him. For acting so unprofessionally, for bullying someone because he has the “authority” to. She Gaslights me and says her son was only laughing at me to try to make light of the situation.
Not true.
I told her I would reach out to the corporate office, which I will again Monday when they reopen.
She calls me back a few minutes later and says she canceled my membership.
🥜 Thank GOD I don’t ever need to go back there!

Joined Anytime Fitness - North Port location 3 weeks ago! Having a great time working out and doing cardio and lifting weights by machines. Clean facility and has a decent amount of equipment and machines to accomplish my fitness and strength goals. The huge difference is being able to get a workout done literally anytime even when the facility is not staffed. This gives me ultimate versatility and value as my work schedule changes constantly. Also, I can workout at other Anytime Fitness locations when I’m on the road because the membership is portable after 30 days. Tonyia did a great job getting my wife and I signed up ASAP and I can always add a personal trainer or workout in their large exercise room! Best gym in the local area as I was a member of another gym that does not have this level of service or convenience.

Arguably the most uninspiring gym I’ve ever been too. When we moved to FL 5 + years ago I wanted to join a gym I could access also while traveling for work, anytime checked all those boxes. After moving from Sarasota to North Port 15 months ago I can comfortably say the North Port location is the worst AF gym I’ve been too in the state of FL, I’ve used their facilities all over this state. It’s a shame considering this would have been my “home gym” but instead me and my wife decided to cancel our memberships and invest in turning our garage into a home gym. I literally invested in 7k worth of my own equipment than pay another month of $40 dollars. If you don’t care about poorly maintained equipment, outdated equipment, broken (for 4-5 months) and poorly cleaned gym then you’ll be fine here. If you value yourself and your workouts look elsewhere.

North Port needs more gym options as AF has gotten rich off being the only game in town. That will surely end eventually as North Port develops likes crazy.

I came in 4/24/2023 around 3:25pm-4:00pm. I had my keys and was about to get it scanned for the door to unlock. But two men left at the same time and both of them were holding the door for me. I didn’t think much about it said thank you and went inside. I went to the bathroom before anything else. I usually use the bathroom before working out. When I came out two trainers were asking me from across the room, “ Hey ! Hey” “did you scan your key repeatedly.” I was pulling my earbud out to hear them. I got confused and stumbled on my words and said yes. And then I quickly remembered that the two guys had opened the door for me. I said “wait, I didn’t-“ the lady who seemed like a coach yelled from across the room she said “No she didn’t!” Repeatedly. As if I was trying to lie. I was addressed in a weird way and didn’t put my thoughts together in time. She told me that i had to go outside and scan my key. So I did. The door unlocked because I have a contract and I’m an actual member. She then pulled my account on her tablet and asked if I was (name) and I said “yes thats me and asked her if she wanted to see my ID too.” She replied “no.”Before the convo ended I told her that I felt that the situation should’ve been handled better and professionally. She had told me that after she saw me walk in the gym she noticed that I went to the bathroom first. She said that she “thought” that it was “suspicious”. Her reasoning was that people would come in their gym to do drugs in the bathroom. (I’m 21 year old, women who also just happens to be hispanic.) I didn’t know what to think about that explanation. I felt profiled and uncomfortable. I cut my workout short and left early. I’m bringing this to corporate as well. Never did they thought to walk up to me and talk to me privately and treat me like a person. I felt embarrassed. It’s already hard for people to work out publicly. It didn’t feel accepting or safe. I have a contact that I won’t be renewing next year. Awful customer service. No apologies just “make sure you scan it next time.” Ughhh

I had an appointment at 11am and called at around 1015 asking if I could come in early, to my surprise I was able to come in early to get more information about the gym.
Dominic was the gentleman that helped me with acquiring more information about the gym and promos going on at that time.
I asked for a tour and went through it and it met all of my expectations. Although it’s pricey, I’m glad I picked that gym. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Small gym with clean and maintained equipment, 24 hour access, and friendly staff.

This gym is always clean and it has new equipment. Rarely do you find an out of order piece of equipment. It has a steady stream of patrons whenever I've been there and it is in a safe area. However, it is pricey for the amenities offered as there are only a couple of classes/week and none of the extras you might expect for a high dollar fitness center (pool, sauna, classes throughout the day).

Please devote more of the space to the strength training equipment like bench press, squat rack, free weights. It’s stuffed in the corner with many people waiting while the other remaining 75% of the equipment is used much less frequently.

It’s like if a grocery store used most of the space for paper cups and only had one aisle for the rest of the groceries. People are largely there for the groceries not the paper cups. I understand it is still being used occasionally.

I enjoy coming to this location very much. I am never bothered by anyone (staff or patrons) and it is always clean.

You don't have many options of equipment like you'd see at a bigger gym, but it has all of the necessities. I don't find myself waiting around to use a piece of equipment which has happened to me before at bigger gyms with more people.

Recently they replaced the tread mills which are now brand new, the AC always works, and they fixed the WiFi issue.

I bought a 6-week fitness challenge package that includes 3 fitness classes per week. I work during the day, so I appreciate having classes available after work hours. The size is small and not intimidating. Zachary, the trainer, is personable and works with each of us to ensure we have proper form. I gave 4- stars because the package also includes access to the gym, but I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. Much different from my AF at home. Some machines are newer and nice, but others are so old they barely work. Treadmills we’re very nice but the stair masters didn’t work at all. 24/7 availability is awesome. Gym is not huge but has a good variety of equipment. It's a bit pricey to not have any extra amenities, i.e. pool, sauna, daycare. Would love to have more classes! A single class at 11:30am doesn't work for people who work regular business hours. Also, you can only bring a guest on Friday when the gym has staff present, which again is very limiting for some's work schedules. Overall good but more expensive than it's probably worth, especially since they got rid of the projector classes you could do on your own.

Just bought my membership three days ago, and so far the only pro for me is that it's a small gym. Customer service is really terrible, and I didn't know there was an actual training session included with the free consultation because the trainer definitely didn't bother to offer. It was basically a 5 minute sit down of: "buy my services twice a week for thirty minutes, even though I'm not gonna run you though an exercise today so you know what you're getting into."

Never been to an AF before. EVER. I asked if he could at least just walk me around so I knew where everything was, but it basically boiled down to another push for me to spend money, or ask the rude guy in the other office to walk me around... Speaking of the office guy- I arrived early for the consultation and chilled in the waiting area. Wasn't bothering anyone, just on my phone waiting, when he approaches with an attitude to ask if I needed help with something. I let him know what was up - that I was waiting for the trainer - and he proceeds to condescendingly tell me what time it was (as if I didn't have a working phone in my hand), and that I'd be waiting a while since the trainers show up on the dot. Didn't know that, but thanks?

My takeaway is that members are better off coming in after the staff leaves. There won't be much help when they're there, so what's the difference?

Bought a personal training package because i felt obligated, then every single time I reached out to set something up, the guy would tell me that the trainer would reach out to me and that never happened. At one point I went in there to see what was up, and they made me feel better about the situation, new management and all... I'm a pretty understanding person I would say, but the way these guys do business is disappointing. I only ever got one session and it was the free one before you buy the package. Looking to join a gym and heard about your gym through some friends and family and looked into joining your gym except your hours that you are open are completely ridiculous. Most local gym's are open until at least 10-11 pm during the week and at least until 9pm on weekends. What gym is ever closed on a weekend??? When I read your hours of operation I almost laugh. I mean seriously.... That's when everyone usually goes to a gym is on the weekend to release stress from the work week or just to get/stay in shape. After being with anytime fitness for 3 plus years coming from the palmetto location to the beautiful clean location in Sarasota this is absolutely atrocious! I do not understand where my money is going because half the equipment is old, broken, outdated, or unusable to me. And my money sure isn’t going towards cleaning because the cardio machine I used today was caked in about an inch of dust and dried sweat stains. During Covid you’d think they’d at least make cleaning the gym a top priority? Not here. This is the saddest, most uninspiring gym I’ve ever been to. In the 3 months since I’ve moved to north port I’ve gone a handful of times because it’s just dark, depressing, and dirty. I really just want to cancel my membership because this isn’t it!

Really really small gym. I signed up to my local Anytime in Wisconsin 6 months ago. I moved to North Port and was very disappointed in this studio apartment of a gym that is ALWAYS busy, equipment all over the place and overall poor quality of equipment. For $45 a month you can easily find better. Unfortunately I'm stuck in a contract due to the proximity of the gym to my new home. 10/10 would not recommend.

Employees are rarely ever around. Theyre only there for few hours and take well over hour breaks. Was hard catching someone to sign up for membership or ask questions. I noticed deliveries would show up and noone here. Theyd open door and leave again. What kind of business runs this way?

We sent s letter to cancel membership and sent back the Fobs as instructed in February and are still being charged and harassed by their financial company. Then was told my was different because we had move to Parrish and we both used that location and they moved my membership to Parrish and my husbands membership stayed with North Port. This is a f*%ked up company.

Not worth getting your business. It sounds like this place has the same complaints about them. It’s a theme. You have a membership there for a long enough time, you go to cancel it, and do you end up finding out that they’re charging you for extra months.

When you confront them, they make it look like it’s your fault and make it impossible to get your money back. It’s a huge headache and not worth it.

We joined but once it opened there were classes that were cut, additional fees, and a few other changes that were less than optimal. Fortunately we had read reviews of Anytime fitness and knew it would be hard to cancel and keep them from dipping into the checking account once we did cancel so we put it on month to month on the charge card. Once we canceled they were not able to continue to charge us. It's clean, it's pretty, but they did not provide the classes as advertised prior to opening....everything that was there that we were utilizing, we could do at home for free.

I broke my ankle and leg and they wouldn't refund my money for the month and they just withdrew it. I'm going to be out of work for a couple of months money's going to be short. Well, they just lost a lot more then a monthly payment.
I wasn't even in a year contract I was a month to month and paid more, so I would be stuck in a contract. I'll find a more courteous gym when I get better.

Avoid Anytime Fitness at all costs. They overcharge, and then when you go to quit, they keep attempting to take money out of your account, it's a point where you have to change your whole account number.

Well the gym was great. Clean all the time. The staff was great at first sign up. I had done month to month. I had a back injury and I went from hell to back to give my 30 days notice for cancellation. Oh yeah, even though they tell you there's no cancellation fee, they will still try to charge you. There's a reason I paid more to not be in a contract with anytime fitness....but they treated it exactly the same. Cancelled and would not recommended for others just because the sales pitch is a lie.

Joined online and couldn't get in. I am on inverted schedule and so I can never come in during business hours to get a card. Guess I can never work out. Horrible experience! Someone was even there, opened the door - but wouldn't let me in. Don't advertise 24 hours if you aren't 24 hours!!!!
