I’ve been going to this gym for over 2 years, and to anytime fitnesses in general since 2018 and here’s my honest review

Cons: gym is a little more dated, smaller and gym equipment is more limited

Pros: the new gym manager Jerry has been absolutely great at keeping the equipment well maintained and the gym clean, as well as just a friendly face in the office. While the equipment is older, it’s a really good style of equipment, I like it a lot better and way more ergonomic than most newer machines. Private bathrooms with showers, I hate locker rooms. Updates are being done and it’s great. I never have to wait for equipment, it’s never crowded, and the people are always nice. You never see tripods or roid ragers in the gym.

Overall the pros outweigh the cons heavily. I will be here as long as I live here or the gym is here

Very average place. Lack of cleaning supplies was a constant theme. They stopped providing towels and spray, and it was very common for the wipes to be empty. Bathroom commonly had toilet plugged up. Very hard to sign up, actually had to go to another location to sign up because everytime i tried to go there, there was no one there despite when they posted it was staffed. Commonly was very hot inside during fall, winter, spring with the heat running.

DONT GO HERE. I had a membership, getting anyone to actually help with an issue was impossible. They claimed if I let them know about late fees they would waive them, but seemed like they were intentionally ignoring me for whatever reason like laziness or lack of functioning phones. Fast forward to leaving I go sign some things and they say I'm good. I received multiple extra charges and called and asked about it, they said they were gonna help and call back. I called them 5 times over a period of 3 months. I still don't have my money back, and they still won't call me back. The last time I talked to the manager he said something completely different from any of the other 4 times I called basically saying it's my fault and I missed a payment. Seth was the person I dealt with the entire time. And he told me on the last call that this would have to be dealt with by the general manager or district. Either way no one has called me in at least a month or 2. I canceled my membership back in December and they don't care at all. Terrible customer service

They have a very unprofessional staff, and the gym is small and not very well maintained. Try to call them and getting a hold of them is difficult. If you leave a message no one gets back to you. Update: This place has taken a severe downturn in recent months. Management and staff are constantly changing, the water machine has been broken for months, the machines are consistently dirty and there's a general stink to the place. A few years ago I would have recommended thsi gym heavily, but not anymore.

I would not recommend this gym! I joined in early May and after being evaluated, I paid for a year's worth of training. I was told that I would receive 2 days a week of individual or small group training and paid the $320 up front. I WAS NOT told that I would be billed an additional $160 every two weeks! I would not have signed up if I had known that. I am retired and on a fixed income. I'm sure it was in the small print but I was not made aware verbally. I see this as a misleading practice and am in the process of trying to get out of the contract. Buyer beware! If you choose to join this gym and want training, be sure to read the fine print and don't sign until you totally understand the terms. I absolutely loved my trainer (Tom) and will miss our sessions. Thanks Tom, but no thanks to Anytime Fitness!

AF Ormond Beach is one of my favorite gyms I have ever step foot in. From the moment you walk in the door, you can tell the environment is great for anyone looking to maximize their fitness goals. The equipment is top notch and always kept clean. The staff in the gym is kind and caring. Seth, the general manager, has always looked out for my needs. He is helpful with answering any questions and wants only the best for his members. I could not recommend this location enough if you are looking for a welcoming gym to begin your fitness journey.

Beware!!!!! This facility is all about your money and don't care about your well being. The place is filthy and machines need to be maintained. I hurt my back to the point that I have had two doctors inform me not to participate in gym activities. I informed the gym and they said bring in a letter from your doctor and I did. They said that a letter from my chiropractor was not good enough so I had my chiropractor send ex Ray to my primary doctor and my primary doctor sent a letter to the gym and that wasn't good enough. They are now after my money with a collection agency. Stay away from this place. They will dig you up from your grave to get their money.

The anytime fitness in Ormond Beach has some of the best equipment in the area packed into a smaller space. Not all of it is brand new, but it is all top quality. A small group of dedicated lifters train here exclusively, because it is never crowded and easy to get your workout done. Cleanliness is impeccable. The ladies running this place do an outstanding job, and everyone is always smiling.
Religious trainer here, have used all the local gyms. This one is by far my favorite. I’m leaving this review because I know they deserve it, but you don’t have to join on my account. I don’t want my secret getting out :-)

Overall it’s a nice gym with quality employees. However, beware you cannot cancel your membership. There is a contract that you sign in order to get out of it you have to wait until it’s almost expired then get out of the contract. If you don’t your contract will automatically renew. Also I never got a copy of the contract I signed make sure you do. After my contract is up I will never again come back to this location and you should avoid it as well. Best of luck!

Misleading website. When you click on their website, it states in huge print, "Try Us For Free." It then asks for your information and lets you schedule a date and time at the specified location. When I arrived for my appointment, the manager who came to the door had a very serious (unwelcoming) look on her face. She told me that they don't offer free trials, although it's all over their website advertising. She claims that she contacted me to tell me. However, there was no message, call, or email from them, despite the fact that they had my correct information on the submitted form. Extremely unprofessional. Since I'd driven all the way there, I decided to take the tour. I had to sign a disclaimer just to look, even if I wasn't going to use the equipment. The manager seemed indifferent which I thought was strange. It left me with a very bad impression so I gave feedback on a form on their website.

The next day, the area manager, Stephanie, responded. She claimed that it's stated in the website that they don't participate in free trials. Well, then they shouldn't schedule appointments at the Ormond Beach location in response to "Try It For Free" which pops up immediately on the website. Then she claimed that the manager called me. If Stephanie wasn't there at the time, then it's inappropriate to say that the manager called me because she has no idea. Lastly, she claimed that the manager was friendly and might have had a bad moment. Having a bad moment is no excuse to make people feel unwelcome when it is literally your job to sell memberships.

In the end, I went to different club which did honor their advertising for free trials. They had much better equipment, classes and all of their staff was very welcoming when anyone entered or left their club. Now that's good gym with good customer service.

Price gouging/contract entrapment. The franchisees here are extremely greedy, 55$/mo for 12 months with 80$ in "maintenance fees" and contract break penalties. Been an anytime member in different regions for around 4 or 5 years on and off. Always paid between 35-45$/mo depending on location amenities offered, never paid a maintenance fee, always been able to have contract waived and pay month to month. Seems like the reviews are accurate on the downgrade in ownership quality.

CJ, the younger guy working there is a good guy, helpful. Absolutely would not sign an extortive inflated contract at this location though. Shame it's the only 24 hour spot around besides planet fitness that's ill equipped for serious lifters. Save yourself some hassle and find a gym with better owners. These types of contracts are meant to give them an excuse to nickel and dime you at every turn, and get the most out of you without giving you any sort of out.

But when I got to Jim to start my membership, the price I got quoted on the phone was not the new quote and then when I was there, there were many other hidden fees. I never even finished signing the contract and yet the person is refusing to give me the credit on my credit card that they charged or their bosses number, so that I can follow up to ensure that I get my money back.

AF traveling member here. This location has an "old school" nostalgic feel to it and isn't your corporate cookie cutter but that is a good thing. Nicely equipped especially if you are a power lifter. Granted, though it is a bit rough around the edges.

Positives:
This gym is kept very clean, and there is an assortment of barbells to choose from for a variety of different needs. There are bumper plates and deadlift platforms, so if you're serious about strength training there is not a shortage of the essentials. There is a modest selection of machines to choose from, and the dumbbell selection was quite reasonable. The location, as with any Anytime Fitness, is open 24 hours, which works great with my oddball schedule. If you're looking for something different, there is a large room for yoga, and there are a lot of cardio machines to choose from.

Negatives:
I was victim of a bait and switch tactic about signup fees, dues, and contract cancellation fees. When the end of my one-month trial period ended I was confronted with news about an overwhelming number of fees, including extra fees to upgrade keyfobs, contract cancellation fees if I moved (this was the biggest bait and switch to me), and some "processing" fees. I intended to renew my membership, even offered to pay for an entire year up front (for a one year membership with my wife I was looking at a bill over $1100). I was extremely clear that I would not sign up for a membership if there were sorts of fees such as "processing fees" when I began my trial.

As far as the gym itself, I frequently found people curling in squat racks. I found myself re-racking and reorganizing the weight trees for other members that do not clean up after themselves. Members frequently did not return safety bars back on the squat racks when they removed them. The space in the strength training area is very cramped and left a lot to be desired.

Ultimately I wanted this gym to serve as a secondary gym to my primary for when I have to work later hours, but unfortunately the manager on duty the day of my renewal soured my relationship and I will be unlikely to return.

Edit: After posting this review I ended up signing up for an annual membership. Before being allowed to sign up, the manager on duty tried to bully me in to taking my review down. I originally rated this a 3/5, and I'm docking another point for this reason alone.

The Ormond Beach anytime fitness is awesome. I especially like this one because everything is always in working order and it's always clean. Equipment is easy to find and the staff is kind and helpful. The owners are supportive and are always there for you. If you ever have a question you can get an answer pretty much immediately.

Lots of equipment including weights in both the weight room, obviously, and more of the independent room if you want some privacy. Plenty of bosu balls, mats, kettlebells, bands, all the good stuff. They also have plenty of sanitizer in two locations for your convenience. I've gone to other gyms in the area and I always come back to this one. The 24 access is always a plus for me!

My favorite part about this gym is that it's always clean and everything is in order. Other gyms don't pick up after themselves and it's just a pet peeve of mine.

I've been using Anytime Fitness, Ormond Beach, as my gym for the past six months. The new owners have made many improvements - repairing old equipment, bringing in new equipment and remodeling the space. The gym has a wide variety of equipment, including cardio, machines, free weights, and an Evolt body scanner. Personal trainers are available. The owners and staff are friendly and actually care about all of their members. This gym has much more of a community feel than other gyms I have used in the past.

Anytime Fitness can't be beat for convenience, price, equipment and community.

Update (8/21/21): I wanted to add an update to my previous review. I dropped off using the gym during 2030, due to COVID-19. All gyms were closed and since I’m older, I was reluctant to expose myself to any possible contact. I resumed workouts after vaccinations in March, and with the help of personal training (Thanks, Luca and Brandon!), I’ve been able to lose 35 lbs and decrease medications.

I can’t emphasize enough the friendliness and care of the staff. Members are created by name, cleanliness is a priority, the facility and equipment are well maintained. Members clean up after themselves, something you don’t see elsewhere. It is a community gym.

Aside from a super uncomfortable experience w/the owner when I first joined, this gym is ok. The first couple times I came, I swiped in and went to a treadmill and started working out and a woman instantly followed me to the treadmill and stood next to the machine staring at me. I ignored her until she said hi, and I said hi and she just kinda kept staring. It was super uncomfortable for me and I was considering quitting and never coming back again. Eventually she started talking and asking me questions while I was trying to work out and asked me to come over and switch my gym to hers and sign up for an email......during my workout. It honestly deterred me from going sometimes. Aside from that little mishap, it's been ok. I'll update this in a few months, but the gym is ok.

Great gym. Great blend of free weights vs machines and an ideal place to work out for any level of fitness goals. I travel all over the U.S and have been to many different locations of Anytime Fitness. Not all clubs are the same. This is one is really big and has equipment that not all other outlets have. For starters they actually have gym chalk, this is extremely useful to me for doing wide grip chins. They have great wide grip chin bars. Also a standing calf machine and a really good lat pull down machine. The restroom are HUGE and luxury style. Also very clean. Huge parking lot in the back for easy parking. I love this club. It is often the highlight of my day to come here. I often come in not feeling motivated, not really wanting to work out and as soon as I step into the gym, a change over comes me, there is a positive energy here that breaks me out of my lazy thinking. I come out of the gym feeling like a brand new person. Suddenly the problems in my life do not feel so big anymore. I come in feeling tired and leave energized, Yes, I love this gym!

I have Attended this gym only a couple times since being back in Florida and I can truly say it's been one of the less hectic gyms that anytime fitness the franchise has to offer. Management immediately approached me with friendly has what they could do to make my experience at that location better. After a flawless workout and Xceptional customer service I have decided to make on the beach anytime fitness my home gym as well as convinced my girlfriend to drop that dump of a gym planet of fitness. WOW! At most gyms your nothing but just another number. Anytime Fitness in Ormond actually cares! I regularly work out between the hours of 3-5 a.m. I was called by Amy(staff member) who informed me that the plaza would be under construction, and that the power would be down around my work out time. Its nice to come to a small place that isnt crowded and delivers what is expected. My experience has always been positive so when you read reviews from out of town haters, let it go. If you choose to use the gym because you have an out of town membership, use it, get your workout in, and go in peace. Life is too short to vent your negativity on Google reviews.

I stopped by this place today at 10:40am, to inquire about a membership and see the facility. Sign on the door saying "open". But the Doors were locked, nobody around, lights on. Website says under new ownership. Not better ownership, new ownership. That's enough for me. Locked doors during business hours. Indicative of what a membership would have been like. No thanks.

I’ve been a gym goer for many years. I’ve tried all types of gyms and I can say that this locally owned and operated gym knows how to get it right. The owner Bonnie is super friendly and clearly really cares about me and my success. With everything going on right now, it’s important to me to go to a gym that actually cares about me versus a big box gym who just sees me as a number. Thank you Bonnie!

When I 1st joined this gym, I was a bit put off by the former owner's rigid
attitude towards lifters-it seemed we were there as an imposition at times. Since Luca and Bonnie purchased the gym, all that has changed: all of the Staff are very engaging, additional weights/equipment and facility upgrades are the norm, and the environment is perfect for using free weights, cardio and machines.

We were on vacation in Florida and I wanted to do my regular 3 day a Week workout only I forgot my key fob at home in Ohio so the young lady that worked at the Anytime Fitness tried to get my. Number but wasn’t able to get it right away so she told me to go ahead and she would get it done and she did . Then I found my number on my app. So I was able to show my number on my phone each time I visited a Anytime Fitness Center. Ormond Beach Fitness did a great job.

The equipment is all in excellent condition, and there is plenty of it, plus a large selection of free weights. The owners are usually on the premises, and all of the people associated with this gym are personable and helpful. Not crowded at the times I go. I've been a member for only a couple of months, but I would definitely recommend..

I am from Az, in the Ormond Beach area visiting family and decided to try this location for a quick work out. Very impressed!!! Location has almost any type equipment you can think of, is very very clean, and has very pleasant staff. Not sure why there are negative reviews regarding this location. Will definitely be back during my stay and any future trips to the area!!

Great and friendly staff. Luca, my personal trainer, set up a nutrition plan for me to follow and has put together a great free weight program to help me strengthen and gain muscle weight back that I lost from an illness. He answers all my questions and knows just when to push me and when I’m gassed.
Overall, awesome place to train.

I came to Anytime Fitness in October, 2019 from another Ormond Beach gym. I think I have finally found the nicest gym in the area by far. Great equipment, but, more importantly, great people. Every one could not be nicer and attentive to my needs. It is very clean and up to date. I have nothing but praise and I am so glad I switched to a better gym in my town!

This was the worst experience I have ever had at Anytime Fitness. There was a lady on staff that acted completely insane and needs some anger management classes. She saw something she didn't like, (unknown by us that this was not allowed) and she flew off the handle and made a scene in the gym. The most unprofessional display of anger I have seen from an Anytime Fitness Employee.

New Owners!!!! This place has made a complete turnaround and is fantastic with cleanliness, maintained equipment and pleasant, helpful staff. They actually just added more new equipment. Between this and AF Ft Pierce, these are the best AF in Florida. Awesome energy and positive vibe here.

The new club owners Bonnie and Luca have made several changes over the last few months since taking over. They’ve eliminated and updated numerous pieces of equipment around the gym. Demolished walls to open up more space for several new pieces of leg equipment and added fresh paint on nearly every wall. This is definitely one of the bigger Anytime Fitness locations I’ve been to. There are several flat screens around the gym, wi-fi, along with numerous cardio options. New purple turf has been added in the functional room, along with kettle bells, punching bag and more. Very impressed with the new equipment selections and dollars getting invested into this location. You can tell the new owners really care. Highly recommend checking them out.

Just like you read below staff was very rude. Gym has no AC. Every time I walked in I got bad vibes from the owners and staff because I was an out of town anytime fitness membership. Yelled at for lifting heavy basically. (I am not grunter ) but I am going actually use the equipment and push myself. A little more hospitality for everyone using the facility would be nicer. I left early because I was very taken back by the rudeness of the staff and then went to golds. I always respect anyone’s business. And appreciate good owners and leadership however this was not a good experience and I won’t be going back even though I really planned on it.

I've been a personal trainer for many years. Yes, this gym doesn't compete with Gold's Gym in Moscow. But it's not supposed to. It's a well run neighborhood fitness center. Equipment is there for both cardio and resistance training. Small, but quite adequate. I don't know anything about the staff. But they seem nice enough. -David

Worst excuse for a Anytime Fitness I've experienced. It's tiny and cramped for starters. The shower and locker room facilities are laughable. Make the drive to the Port Orange location or find another gym would be my best suggestion, the fees for Anytime demand a much better experience than this location offers.

I met the owner and his wife and they where amazing, There is plenty of equipment to pick and choose from and in a great area. I would highly recommend this facility to everyone to come by and check it out. I see some negative reviews but came in with a great attitude and was treated exactly like you should be at a Anytime Fitness location. Called them on the phone to ask for prices (way overpriced.) Ever since then i've gotten constant spam emails from them, even though I never gave them my email? They send me stuff like "When would be a good time to meet us at your neighborhood location?" Extremely shady and invasive business.

I have a membership to another Anytime Fitness came in Saturday after hours and couldn’t find the password posted anywhere as it is in every other Anytime Fitness I have been to. Went in Tuesday and ask a woman why they didn’t post the password she wouldn’t answer while I was my phone she came out and put a piece of paper next to me. This lady was not nice as well as her husband who came out a few minutes later. He said this was their baby I would think that if they want it to survive they would be cordial. Sadly this is by far the worst experience I’ve had at any Anytime Fitness. I will inform other people that there is another Anytime Fitness in the area, try that one instead as I will.

This gym is a joke! If your looking to workout then skip this place. Its basically a planet fitness. Nothing against old ppl but thats mostly the age group. Staff was very rude and complained I was slamming the weights. Either she hasn’t had someone actually work out at that facility or she singled me out because im not a regular. Found a walk-in Zumba fitness class, while visiting from out of state. The instructor was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Facility was clean and everyone was friendly.

Literally the worst anytime fitness I've been to. I'm a traveller and have been all over the country with my membership. This gym makes me want to cancel my membership. The free weight area is so crowded and packed in that members are tripping over each other. The equipment is old and has cracks in the padding.

Staff NEVER answers phone or returns messages. Have been trying to get a hold of someone for over an hour to give them a new member aside from myself! Have tried calling on various weekdays as well with no answer/response!! I live out of town but am frequently in Ormond and would like to be able to work out here as I am already a member, but can NEVER get ahold of anyone!! Terrible experience. I would like to begin that it is a suitable gym for an older crowd, and for someone just getting started and wanting a simple gym. The gym itself is fine, always clean, never crowded and it is open 24 hours!

However, staff were rude. I am on summer vacation from college, and wanted to join a gym for my time here. I signed up for the 7-day free trial and my first day back, I went in to go begin. Immediately, staff making jokes "that I am only here because it's free". Well yes, that is the point of a FREE trial. I opted to pay for a key, because honestly I didn't want to go during staff hours again because I was made to feel embarrassed for a free trial.

I went twice. Both times, not busy, so I was in no one's way or hogging any machines/weights. I cleaned up every machine and I even put away weights and mats that OTHER members had left out. Decided not make a membership because: it was a far drive for me, membership fee too expensive for a college student, and STAFF.

Staff making rude comments about "using their free things" and that "they KNEW I was never going to make a membership in the first place". I politely smiled, and took the completely unnecessary rude insults. They need an attitude adjustment.

The ONLY reason I am not giving this fitness center 5 stars is because it does not carry my favorite piece of cardio equipment, the Cybex Arc Trainer...other than that it's very clean, staff is AWESOME and the hours are 2nd to none. I have worked at a fitness center in Ormond Beach and have gone to a couple others and Anytime Fitness is truly a great place to workout...albeit would be even better if they had the Cybex Arc Trainer
