I had been suffering with knee issues for about a year before my knee replacement surgery actually took place. My activity level during that time had been severely limited which led to my overall body strength and endurance being significantly reduced. After my surgery, my strength continued to degrade for the rest of my body and my shoulders became somewhat hunched.
I was released from physical therapy eight weeks after my surgery. At that point, I could straighten and bend my leg to the doctor’s required specifications, walk unassisted, walk up and down one step while maintaining a death grip on the banister, and do a few minimal strength related tests but my knee was nowhere near strong enough to return to normal activities. I had always done HIIT/Bootcamp type workouts and I wasn’t able to do the majority of the moves in those workouts because of my knee. I decided to work with a personal trainer to help continue to strengthen my leg and body and to improve my endurance.
Jesse and I decided on a personal training regimen of 3–30-minute workouts a week for 12 weeks to work on overall strengthening of my leg as well as the rest of my body and my overall conditioning. After those 12 weeks working with Jesse and Chase, I am very pleased with my results.
Before I started with Jesse and Chase, I could not stand for very long without my leg hurting. I had difficulty walking down hills. I walked up and down steps like a toddler, always using the same leg to raise up or lower down. I couldn’t sit or stand without using something for assistance and I was still favoring my right leg so my gait was off and my squats were uneven.
During my training regimen, they used a variety of different exercises to strengthen my body and were always able to adapt exercises when my knee would not allow me to do an exercise they originally planned. They started slow and built up as I became stronger. They worked me hard but always made sure not to overdo my knee. They corrected my posture, my gait and my squats. I am now able to stand for extended periods without my leg hurting, walk up and down steps and hills with no problem. I can sit without assistance and stand from most seats without having to use my hands to assist. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is looking to recover from knee replacement surgery.

I have been trying to get my health back on track for years, between excuses, lack of motivation, accountability, and not knowing what to do or where to start, I was the queen of falling short and procrastination! I decided, I'm All In, put my pride aside, and took my nervous/anxious ridden body and mind in to Ascend. Coach Chase and Coach Jesse had me Day 1. From the welcoming attitude, to brutal honesty, to motivation...I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. The accountability, motivation, and community they coach through the workouts exudes in the family you create in the gym, I have met some amazing people. 5 STARS all day everyday. Owner & Coach Jesse Walker & his associate & friend Coach Chase are THE BEST. I joined late February 2025 with a March 3, 2025 start date. I weighed 220 lbs., age 62, diabetic type 2, a 2" stent in my heart after 90% blockage, asthma, and on a dozen Rx medications for depression, anxiety, GERD, high blood pressure & angina, felt fatigued, fat, weak, and older than 62. 40 years earlier I was a cop, 144 lbs., strong, brown belt in TaekwonDo & loved almost daily gym workouts. I couldn't even open my half & half carton for my coffee, which was my wake-up call to my deterioration. Coach Jesse AND Coach Chase lead small class sizes for individualized attention to skill, technique, building mental & physical weakness into literal mental & physical strength, from the first couple workouts. I was part of a team who wasn't focused on any "hype" wearing makeup or the cutest gym clothing. It was about genuinely striving for health inward, outward, and spiritually (in your heart). Everyone was uplifting & positive & the coaches insisted by example that THAT preceded our success. Music, comradery, personal attention to detail (doing exercises correctly for optimum strength NOT injury) made each person feel empowered to permanently improve our overall health & strength. I'm down 21 lbs in 6 months, and I'm off of some Rx medications while a couple other Rx meds have their doses cut in half. My back no longer hurts trying to stand up doing dishes, my self image & muscle strength are renewed! For 35years of full-time working, mothering 4 children & caretaking of my 2nd husband & my mom & stepdad, I never had TIME and ENERGY at the same time, to care for ME. Retired, weak, sickly, and angry about my physical status, I prioritized ME and it has paid off with the hugest of health dividends!!! It's the best money and time I could've spent. I've made Friends for life there. My spiritual life has improved as my love for self and self-care priorities has blossomed. Pep talks (genuine GOOD stuff) happened after each class which lifted us up & we declared "RISE UP!!" together. I cannot recommend THIS personal trainer location of ASCEND FITNESS strongly enough. Being healthy has always been my priority, and out of the many gyms I've tried, Ascend stands out as the place where I've made the most progress.
The small training groups are ideal for me as they allow me to accomplish focused and highly effective workouts that are also brief. Yay!!!!!!!

I didn’t grow up with a healthy perspective of exercise and body image and so working with Jesse at Ascend has been an amazing adventure! I frequently tell my family/friends/work associates about how shocking and necessary it was (my mindset shift). When I would achieve a goal with Jesse, he would grab another 5 pounds to add to it. I’ve been working with Sean at Ascend for almost a year now! My focus has been and continues to be strength training (started with 0 experience). I can’t recommend Sean enough! He has shown great patience in teaching me the fundamentals over the months and has kept me steadily challenged as my skills and strength have grown. I feel so much better and stronger than this time last year! My energy levels are up and I can give my kids shoulder rides now and carry them around all day without pain/significant fatigue! I’ve also lost some weight to boot (though that has been more due to some adjustments to my nutrition I’ve been doing). If you can afford a personal trainer definitely give Ascend a shot! Having someone hold me accountable week after week and coming up with the workouts for me has made it so easy to stay consistent!

I trained with Sean for 4 months. 2x a week. My goal was to get stronger and trim down. Success! I noticed my results and so did my Husband and others, such a great feeling. Best yet my Cholesterol went down 15 points in that 4 months. Huge!! Sean made my HIIT workouts tougher as I progressed/got stronger. He was always ready each day for me, workouts planned and set up to go. If something was super sore he knew just how to stretch it out and if a particular exercise hurt he knew another one to get around it. I purchased Ascend's "pre-workout" powder which was a must for me as my workouts got harder and the "Recovery" powder is game changer as far as helping with soreness. I love that Ascend Fitness is mainly personal training, never crowded and its conveniently located in Lake Mary. Thanks Sean and Jessie, I will be back!!

We've mainly focused on strength and mobility exercises. My flexibility has increased immensely. If 10 stars was an option it would be given here, over the last six month of attending Ascend my process has been amazing. Three jean sizes down, 21 pounds down. The atmosphere alone is amazing. Everyone of all ages are friends and are joined together. The programs are modified for everyone at different levels. Very inclusive. When I started I wanted a one-on-one experience but after joining I came to realize that the best was the group classes, everyone is family and friends and they care and encourage everyone on their own journey. A judgement free zone. I have gained confidence in my weightloss and Jesse's team was there to belive in me until I was ready to believe in myself.

For those of you who would like a more personal approach to your workouts, this is the place for you! I joined Ascend Fitness a little over a year ago and immediately could tell their focus was on improving the body AND mind of their members. Their coaches are well-versed in exercise physiology and kinesiology as well as much of the psychology behind motivating others to reach their training goals. They reach out by phone to see how you are feeling after a particularly tough workout or to encourage your attendance if they haven’t seen you in a bit. It is a welcoming environment for people of all ages and exercise abilities offering group classes as well as personal training. It was definitely the right decision for me and I’m sure it will be for you too.

Everytime I walk into the gym I feel welcome and supported. The coaches are very knowledgeable and hands on. I truly feel like they're paying attention to me and my needs and not just trying to get paid. They push me beyond my limits without being too pushy. Every work out is about doing enough to be healthy and fit so you can come back for the next days training.
I love it here and it's worth it. I don't have to think about the work out of the day. And I'm not stuck on a treadmill for an hour.

Ascend Fitness is so much more than a gym it is a place where breakthrough and transformation takes place. I’ve had memberships at Bally’s back in the day, L.A. Fitness, I’ve done P90X, Insanity, P90X3 and many other routines. All that to say that I’ve seen faster results training at Ascend than I did in any of the other places/routines.

This gym is amazing. I truly hate exercising and this gym has made me want to get up at 5:30 am for a 6am workout 3x per week. I have signed up for gyms in the past throughout my life and never end up going. My husband and I have consistently been coming to this gym since January and I truly can say that we feel a difference in our bodies. The trainers are the best. They care about you as a person and are constantly watching your form to ensure that you are doing the right exercises the right way and preventing injuries. It is so much better to exercise in a group than having to go to a gym by yourself trying to figure out what exercises to do and want machines to use. The owner is absolutely out of this world. He constantly checks on you, talks to you about your diet as well as helping you change your mind and behaviors. He is extremely motivational and inspiring.If you have been struggling with your weight loss I recommend that you join this gym you will not regret it.

I’ve been going to this gym for about 5 months now, and I absolutely love it. The people are just amazing, the workouts are quick and effective, and the availability of classes is exceptional. I’ve been going to Ascend Fitness for 5 weeks now and I’ve been able to drop 5 to 8 pounds. Coach Jesse has a very professional and motivational approach with each individual and I was very impressed with how comfortable I felt with his training. Now I have a better understanding and practice when it comes to lifting weights. He has creative workouts with each session making the vibe very exciting and achievable for any person at any level. Jesse is super knowledgeable and all around has a really motivating personality. This is so much better than Crossfit! I tried that for a little while and wrecked my knees, shoulder, and back! The Crossfit crew actually pressured me into squatting in a form that just ended up in injury, and the workouts were insanely dangerous. In contrast, Jesse has a great knowledge of physiology, and in minutes he fixed my squat. Not only was I squatting without pain—but I was squatting more effectively, too. I encourage you to go in and visit. You'll get a safer, more effective, injury free workout and with Jesse's personality and the atmosphere of this place, you'll be glad you did!

TFW Lake Mary is amazing! Coach Jesse is super knowledgeable about body mechanics and the fitness science. I get a great workout every time I go and I'm seeing results. The workouts are also structured in a way where I don't feel particularly sore the next day so it helps me to keep a regular schedule and not have to fight through the day-after pain. Probably the best thing about this place tho is the culture. Everyone is like a big family, and this place has encouragement in spades. We're all at different places in our fitness journey but when you're pushing through your last set whether it's 5 lbs or 45lbs everbody here wants to see you succeed and finish strong. I can not recommend this place enough to people looking to make a change. Simply put, it works.

One of the best decisions I've made in a long time; on my last week of a 6 week challenge at Training for Warriors lake Mary. The coaches & members there couldn't be more helpful and encouraging. The gym may be small, but it's all heart in there, everyone is there to better themselves and you can pick up on that right away. There are absolutely no egos in the gym either. Jesse is super knowledgeable and is great at explaining stuff no matter what level you're at. If you're on the fence about joining don't be! Training for Warriors Lake Mary really helped me not only physically, but mentally as well. I hope to be a member for a long time!

I met Jesse through the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce. He is very knowledgeable, patient and he really emphasizes on the form rather than the ego, which is what I need.
As an Army vet, the first session had me drifting back to group PT in basic training, except focused, faster and towards a goal.
I love the group classes and the competitive aspect of it as well as the team work. It's a great gym, the plans are steady and the diet isn't super tough to follow. Stick with it and I can guarantee you will see results. I would definitely recommend TFW to anyone looking for a good workout, whether you are looking for something new or just getting started.

Training for Warriors (TFW) provides an excellent environment to work out in a team setting. In the past I've been intimated going to gyms and not knowing how to use the equipment so would end up doing cardio. Under Jesse's guidance, I was taught how to exercise using weights, stretch correctly, and learn a balanced approach to eating.
Each workout session is one hour long, and definitely pushes and encourages you to keep pushing. The team approach provides excellent supplemental support from more tenured members and everyone is encouraging and pushing you to reach your full potential.
Jesse is a wonderful trainer and works with each person on their specific needs and knows when to push you to reach the next level.
The Dojo (gym) is clean and well maintained.

Training For Warriors (TFW) is a fantastic fitness alternative to grinding it out in a traditional gym. The one hour training sessions are structured team-based sets of exercises that are designed to challenge people at all fitness levels in agility, endurance, flexibility, and strength. The TFW system provides for a wide range of exercises that work all parts of the body. The Dojo is clean, well lit, and contains all of the equipment needed to work through all of the exercises in a given session.
Jesse genuinely cares about improving peoples' health and helping them achieve their fitness goals. He motivates and pushes with positive reinforcement while understanding that we all have different physiology and fitness levels. He demonstrates each exercise performed in a given sessions, explains why they're being done, and helps people with perfecting movement and form.
TFW Lake Mary provides for an overall excellent fitness experience and is highly recommended regardless if you're already in shape or need to shed those extra pounds.

Joining Traing For Warriors has completely turned my life around. I hadn’t seriously worked out since I was in high school ( I’m 50 years old now). I tried other gyms but never followed through. I think that’s because I always blended in with everyone else. There was no accountability and if I didn’t show up for months at a time, no one ever noticed. With TFW I truly feel that Jesse cares about my success. It’s a very personal type of training with accountability which is what I need, accountability!!!
