Only the best Pilates studio in SWFL!
I’ve been to a lot of different studios around here, and i love Barre / Pilates classes. The availability here is good, Kelly is a mastermind at choreography and the instructors have incredible energy. The class timeframes are perfect for my schedule and the incentive of taking 14 classes in a month to get custom exclusive merch is SUCH A great incentive to stay accountable. The vibes are casual and come-as-you-are and your spot is always saved because they set it up in advance! So if you’re a Type B girlie (or guy-ie) like me, you’re good to go. Get there 5 til! You’re gonna love it. You’re gonna love the people, and you’re gonna LOVE your results. It’s the most challenging Pilates studio in the area. You absolutely must go! Kelly Porter & Barre Roots, there is SO MUCH to say! What Kelly has created and built is unmatched to say the least. Barre roots is such a Great community of welcoming friendly people of all walks of life and ages. I feel apart of something bigger than me and am always in such a good mode after being in the studio.
The classes that kelly has created are challenging, yet attainable for everyone in any shape or form. I myself have cervical kyphosis in my neck and since consistently going to Barre Roots, I can feel the difference in my neck and all the muscles surrounding feeling much better and stronger.

After years of exhausting super intense group fitness classes I was ready for something different. I had just had my second c-section in 2 years and knew that healing my core needed to be a priority before I could get back to the intense workouts. I heard of Kelly through a friend and originally started with privates post partum. Kelly tailored our workouts to my specific needs while keeping my interest in a much "slower" workout than I was used to. I was shocked how quickly results came from a workout that didn't leave me absolutely drained the rest of the day. I knew I was hooked on Barre Roots. I truly feel more stable on my feet with all the core strength I now have; my entire body is leaner and more toned. I am now pregnant again and continuing group classes- Kelly still makes sure to check in with me as my body is changing and I am adapting. Kelly is such an amazing instructor. I had never taken a Barre Class before and Kelly encouraged me to come out to one of her group classes. I instantly felt comfortable because of how inviting Kelly was. She keeps a positive atmosphere the entire duration of class which makes you feel motivated for the full session. She gives very good instructions including a visual demonstration and walks around throughout the class to ensure you are completely the movements properly. She is very knowledge about the movements and wants to ensure you are not doing anything to hurt yourself. I love her classes so much and enjoy the feeling of having a full body workout within only 45 minutes. I highly recommend taking her class even if you are a beginner. Don't be nervous she is super inviting and will make you feel comfortable during the session!

I am an active runner and have been for years and years. I injured my left foot and was unable to run for a few months and needed to incorporate different workouts into my weekly training and was invited to try Barre Roots class.
Kelly was very welcoming and inviting and I immediately felt comfortable within this atmosphere. She focuses on each person’s personal comfort and provides individual modifications for correct form of each of the isolated movements. This is great for people like myself with an injury.

I had never done a barre class before, and I assummed it was just a bunch of stretching.
Having done a barre class now, I am thoroughly impressed and cannot wait to do another one. Barre is a series of exercises where you get into a position and strengthen different muscles in all parts of your body through what I can describe as muscular endurance. These positions challange not only strength but flexibility which I believe everyone can improve on. I have never done a workout like this kind, and was able to engage muscles I have never focused on before. After a strengthening section, we would do a small portion of stretching to relieve the muscles used which also felt amazing. Kelly Porter is an amazing teacher and explains every exercise simply and in detail on what you should feel and where. She is encouraging and patient, but will also make sure you are getting the best possible workout you can.

"I originally started taking classes with Barre Roots to support my friend, Kelly, the owner of Barre Roots.
However, when I started taking private sessions with Kelly, and really started to understand the mind-body connection, everything started to click and I really felt like I was able to get the most out of the class for ME, and no longer just supporting a friend.
I schedule 30 minute private sessions weekly, which works really well because it's a very digestible amount of time, and not too overwhelming. In addition to that, the private sessions have made me more confident in group classes.

There is something nice about being able to still workout in a group setting while maintaining healthy guidelines. Even in a nontraditional setting (outside) Barre Roots is able to carry out a very normal barre class. When Kelly says, “Lift your left leg” it really is OUR left leg; she mirrors us to make instructions easy to follow along with while still making the workout itself challenging.
