Full transparency. I was a visiting Bikram Teacher from out of the area. I had my own yoga school in California and I have high bar as to what a proper yoga school should be.

The owner at BYFM teaches her students versus leads them as other yoga “studios” do. She serves her students rather than entertain them. This school is for learning and healing versus a place to just sweat. Students come to yoga for various reasons, but they all have some type of healing to do.

Do they ask for discipline? Yes. Do they care about their students? Yes? Are they passionate about the yoga? Yes.

You will leave with what you NEED versus what you think that you Want.

This is a place of transformation and metamorphosis.

I am so grateful to have found this yoga studio. I drive past a studio that is 6 minutes from my home, to get to this studio which is 25 minutes from my home. It is well worth the extra time and mileage. I immediately felt welcome and knew I was in a special place. Dana and Tressa are wonderful instructors and experts in the traditional Bickram 26/2 practice.

The classes are always 90 minutes every day. I practice with experienced yogis that have been there for years; to new students. We are all considered beginners, and I learn something new in every class. The studio is extremely clean with shower facilities. This studio has everything needed to practice and focuses on only yoga. No electronic devices are allowed, which makes this one of the few places in life where you have to focus on you.

Thank you for your wonderful studio and dedication to health and wellness.

This is the BEST disciplined BIKRAM yoga school that I have ever been a part of. I have had a dedicated practice for 15 years. If you desire results physically, emotionally, & spiritually you will receive that here. We tragically lost our founder/teacher/guru one year ago. Part of our yoga family Dana/owner/teacher & Tressa/teacher have graciously taken the reins. Through continued study they have brought the school to a new and amazing level while continuing the strict Bikram discipline expected by the BIKRAM lineage and our founder/teacher Jimmy Ji. You will always have a kind and welcoming family here.
In regards to the NEGATIVE review I read today…I was a part of that class. The new couple who stormed out part way into the practice IMHO did not leave EGO at the door and did not bring an open HEART to our school. That is all that you need when you arrive for class. This is always a beginner class and everyone with an open heart is kindly welcomed. Through a tried and true dialogue, IF you listen closely and follow along with breath & movement, the teachers will assist you in transforming your life. I am living proof!
Thank you BIKRAM YOGA FORT MEYERS!

We love bikram but this studio was by far the worse we have been to. The teacher is completely rude. Yoga is a personal journey and that looks different for all . This teacher thinks it’s only her way . Comp the teacher the teacher is completely infected with Vikram’s ego underscoring why his teaching method never got past a certain point and why there’s more to Yoga and screaming at someone about why their feet aren’t in the appropriate position according to them.

Bikram yoga Ft. Myers is more than just a yoga studio, it's a sanctuary for the mind, body and soul. The instructors Dana and Tressa are motivating, the students are friendly, I feel a warm...super hot, embrace every time I visit. I travel from Naples passing many other studios, but this one has energy and somehow elevates my practice. I guess you have to try it, you'll feel the difference.

I was introduced to this studio by a friend this summer as a relief/break from hurricane Ian restoration. The classes, the studio, are fabulous. Everyone I met was very welcoming. Most have been going for over 12 years. The best yoga to restore yourself. I love this place and grateful for the introduction to hot yoga and the people I have met there.

The bikram Hot Yoga Studio in Fort Myers is outstanding. I have been going there for 9 years. Recently, the studio has been taken over by Dana Simmonds-Short. The previous owner, Jim Mohon, passed away on March 17th, 1923. We are so fortunate that Dana took over the studio, and she is an awesome instructor. She has renovated the studio and it is Beautiful!!! If you are looking for a great bikram practice in Fort Myers, this studio is exceptional. It is a great community of individuals looking to improve their health and energy.

Writing reviews is not my thing and actually never done so before, but I guess there’s a first for everything…
Jimmy Ji had a lot of punctuated lines in his dialogue, his teaching that I could write a book on, but the one that sticks with me the most and will always carry it with me for the rest of my Bikram yoga practice life is “The practice is for everybody but not JUST for anybody”. Interpret it however you want but the meaning of it is as simple as the wording.
He had created and instilled the unwavering mental fortitude of practice in this studio and his students that ever walked thru that door for over 20 something years. Though he’s no longer with us, the tradition is carried on with Dana and Tressa, wonderful, experienced teachers and dedicated students of the practice as well.
Whether you like to challenge yourself, a change a new direction in your life, a new year resolution, or simply just want to know what it really means to be “not JUST for anybody” student, give it a try at Bikram Yoga Fort Myers.
Whatever the reason maybe come with an OPEN HEART AND MIND!!

I have really been enjoying the Bikram practice with Dana. She is an incredible guide, the yoga room is clean, hot, and plenty spacious. I LOVE the showers, and having the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all on site makes it super convenient to shower off after a good class. I highly recommend this studio.

Bikram Yoga Fort Myers teaches the traditional 90 minute Bikram method. Yes, it’s hot…but that is a bit part of what makes the series transformative. I’ve been practicing here since moving to Fort Myers 10 years ago because of the community dedicated to the practice & the quality of the teaching staff. While we lost Jimmy, our teacher and studio founder last year—Dana is carrying on his mission with the same dedication & mission of friends doing yoga with friends. I love this studio & community—come try it.

I've been doing yoga since 09, and i was practicing other types of yoga then, up until 2013 i was introduce to Bikram yoga in San antonio, Tx. Bikram yoga i notice gave me the most results. I notice pain started to dissolve, overall body feeling good. The Bikram class here that Dana and Tressa are teaching has been great. They have created a family type atmosphere always welcoming everyone. They will give out pointers or just talk about anything you would like to know about yoga. I would recommend anyone to come here if they want the full body healing its does for you.

This school offers traditional hot Hatha Yoga, that is Bikram’s Beginning Yoga class: 90’ 26+2 silent practice that purifies body, mind, heart and spirit. Who knew that using the same sequence of pranayama breathing techniques and hatha yoga postures could be so complete, comprehensive and ever-new!!!???
BKFM is a unique gem in SWFL, led by the finest and kindest yoga teachers, and supported by the most disciplined yoga students that I have ever encountered around the world. If you are looking for a life-changing health system, look no further… just get ready for the challenge and for the commitment of regular practice required to fully reap the amazing benefits (-;

I heard about Bikram Yoga on the Joe Rogan show so I had to give it a try. Luckily it’s right down the road from me, but I would travel far to go to this studio. I came in with back pain and years of dealing with a bad knee. I couldn’t believe how intense this Yoga is, in a good way. If you want a true Bikram experience this is a great place to get it. I dropped in for a class while visiting town from Virginia. Facility is nice with adequate room for the 10 students who attended this class. The students were cordial and appeared to be regular practitioners. The instructor (Dana) was right on point with good pace and tried and true instructions/corrections. The shower was clean, if solitary, but the lockers were mere storage and not lockable. In my hometown (Va Beach) there is no true Bikram yoga. I miss it. This studio scratched that itch.

Bikram Yoga in sunny Fort Myers has changed my life. Jim is the real deal and he teaches the practice exactly how it’s intended. To work. Every system in your body, healing you from the inside out. Don’t believe me? I triple dog dare you to give it a shot. It’s not for the weak minded. This is a disciplinary practice. FOR YOU. NObody else is in the room. Tune them out. Nothing else matters. It’s only you, looking deep inside yourself. In a mirror. In a super hot room. For 90 solid (zone out of this world) minutes. I fell in love with Bikram because it reminded me of childbirth. Weird right? Hang in there... It took my mind back to this inner strength we’re naturally born with. This extreme discomfort, not knowing how you will make it out, breathing nonetheless, but you do... and when you do, you are reborn. A new life. You FEEL different. Awake. Everything is brighter, more focused, more aware... Like you’re opening your eyes for the first time... Every class is the same, but everyday is different. Can I add one more thing? There’s no doubt in my mind this practice helped me save a persons life from drowning. I had strength with calmness and a leg lock so tight no strong current could take us down. “You must kill yourself in here so you don’t kill yourself out there.” -Jimmy Ji. If anything, go there for his one liners. They will make you smile. BUT DON’T SMILE! Concentrate. Only on you. In that mirror. Don’t move, wipe, scratch, blink. Stay still. “Quiet as a church mouse on the outside, but busier than a New York City street on the inside. Feel all those sensations. Ping pong balls of energy bouncing around inside of you.” Ahhhh.... ok. I’m done for now, although the benefits are endless, could go on. Go ahead, do yourself a favor and open your mind up to a class.

I have never tried yoga before, though I have always wanted to. I absolutely love it!!! I am hooked! I am seeing how my body transformed itself over the years and is set incorrectly due to injuries.. And I truly believe that yoga will help my body correct itself. It took time for these injuries and deformed postures to set it in, so with patience , in time I feel my body will realign with proper practice.

Also, Jim is AMAZING! He has such knowledge and passion for the practice, and is very helpful and kind.

He is a good guy and I am so happy to have been referred here by my professor at FSW. Not only does he take the time to make sure you are doing the asanas properly to insure that we receive the full benefit, ,but as to also not injure ourselves. He also talks about the lasting benefits .. And how our body is removing toxins- and blood circulating at such a fast rate.. Prevents us from getting sick .. How amazing is that!!! To be impervious to colds and flus and all other common airborne illnesses. Proper Bikram Hatha yoga practice with Jim - along with clean eating... Is a recipe for happiness and long life :)

Thank you Jim for being here for us :) and sharing your knowledge :).

I just came back to Jim's class after about a year away. I'm looking at the reviews here and was quite shocked honestly. If you want a hard workout that will challenge you and provide results, this is the place. If you just want a watered-down version of Bikram yoga that will not give you results or push you to your limits, this is not the place for you. Jim's teaching style may not be the norm, but you will get results attending his class. This is by far the best workout I have ever done and I live a very healthy lifestyle and eat clean. If you want to push yourself to improve in all areas of your life, this is great place. If you are weak-willed, this is not the place for you. Blessings always🙏

I'm not the type of person that typically leaves reviews, but the instructor Jimmy has changed my life. I'm hooked on yoga because of him.

I had never taken a yoga class before, but was looking for something different to do with my girlfriend, so we decided to go for a class. "Hot yoga" for a complete beginner is tough place to start a yoga journey. I didn't think that I would get through the class, in part because I am 42 years old and am extremely inflexible. And the heat was real. I got through the 90 minutes though and was completely drained. But I woke up the next morning feeling better than I had in years. I credit that totally to Jimmy and his amazing instruction and passion for yoga. After that first class, I took a class everyday for 5 days, before I had to fly back to Georgia.

If you are looking for a hot yoga studio in Fort Myers, I am convinced that this is the place for you. Jimmy has taught me a lifestyle that I can use to improve my health, and I am FOREVER grateful. He will inspire you to push yourself and to constantly improve. He makes sure that your poses are correct and precise (to the best of your individual ability), and he will make sure that you get the full benefits of the practice. Finding Jimmy's studio was absolutely one of the 3 best things that's happened to me in all of 2019. I am confident that I will reap the rewards of yoga for years to come. Thank you so much, Jimmy.

Friends practicing yoga with friends is a great description of the Bikram Yoga Fort Myers studio. New to the SW Florida area and new to an official Bikram yoga school, I found the Bikram Yoga Fort Myers school director, staff, and students to be encouraging, kind, and generous. Experienced Bikram students will fit right in. New students, visitors, and snowbirds are equally welcomed.

The studio is new, spacious, clean, and fresh. The temperature is hot. Mats and towels are available for rent and water and fluids are available to purchase. Changing rooms have clean showers with great water pressure. Classes are well organized and offered at convenient times every day of the week.

Jim Mahon, studio director, teaches most classes and puts a great deal effort into teaching and guiding students through a safe and challenging yoga practice. He expects each individual student to work to the best of their ability and the overwhelming majority of students do just that. I have never seen such a large group of men and women of all ages participate in such challenging and vigorous yoga on a regular basis. Jim and my fellow students inspire me to give my best at each and every practice.

Thank you Jim and friends - you are the best!

I had been practicing Bikram Yoga in WA (beyoutiful hot yoga) from an instructor that has studied directly under Bikram, for two years and it was the most comfortable yet disciplined constructive class. I came to this place and did not even make it to the hot room - which after reading these reviews seems like a fortunate thing. I'm type one diabetic and may need to test my blood sugar while exercising (I've only had to about 4 times in two years). The man I spoke with today told me that I was not allowed to test while in class while interrupting me when I was about to ask him the procedure of leaving the room to test with "I don't care". Aside from the legal issue of what he said to me, he was overall very rude, condescending, and talked to me like I was beneath him. He lectured me on doing slight adjustments to the moves (I had brain surgery, some I simply cannot do) telling me that I could only do that one movement and nothing else. The place smells right when you walk in, and the instructor looked and acted very unprofessional. I will absolutely never go there again.

Bikram created these postures to heal yourself and be a better you - a direct quote from him “If you follow my instruction and do my yoga posture sequence to the best of your ability, you will live a better, healthier and more peaceful life.”

- this studio preaches the opposite.

At 64 years of age and starting to lose my health, I decided take up Bikram yoga. Instead of using a cane to help me get up in the morning, I am now springing out of bed, well rested and full of energy. Jim is very helpful in modifying the poses as I get back into shape. He seems to care about the students' health. My flexibility is returning, and my bad knees are much better. The studio is clean and all the students seem to encourage each other. Bikram's system is a journey into self realization and a great way to get to know how your body can exceed your expectations. Some days improvements are small, some days you make a breakthrough in both strength and flexibility. Instructors Lindsey and Jim are very encouraging. You are urged to do the poses correctly, just to the edge of your pain, and allow your body to gradually get better. They stress proper form to prevent injury. For me it is turning into a complete method to improve and maintain my health. I am getting a lot closer to being able to keep up with my 5 year old grandson! Thanks Jim.

Bikram Yoga Fort Myers has completely changed my life. I took my first Bikram Yoga class almost 4 years ago from Jim Mahon. I had never taken a yoga class before and had no idea what to expect. Walking into the studio that day was the best thing I ever did! Jim is a very dedicated owner and teacher. He truly believes that life begins outside your comfort zone. He taught me how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. His dedication to teaching inspired me to pursue my dreams and gave me the courage and confidence I needed to succeed. I have traveled and practiced all over the world and I can assure that Jim Mahon sticks true to the teaching. He is hands down one of a kind! He will make you work hard, will push you beyond your limits, will encourage you, but most importantly he will share his knowledge and experience with you. It is all there for you to receive if you are open to it! The only thing you will regret is not going in and giving it your all! The benefits are endless.

After spending 3 years practicing at Bikram Yoga Fort Myers I decided to take my practice to another level by attending Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. Words cannot describe the support I received from Jim while preparing for training. I graduated from training in November 2014 and I have been teaching all over the world ever since. Without the love and support from my wonderful teacher at Bikram Yoga Fort Myers I would not be living my dream. Thank you Jim Mahon and Bikram Yoga Fort Myers!

If you have ever had a positive experience with Bikram yoga at any other studio, do NOT go to this one. The instructor is disgusting, condescending, sexist and completely inappropriate. He used horrible slang terms for female anatomy, which were completely unnecessary.

At other studios you are expected to be silent while in the hot room - in this class the women cackled like hens until their "master" entered the room. The thought that these women are wives and girlfriends of professional athletes is shocking - shocking that they would pay to be treated in such a disrespectful manner.

I love bikram yoga, but this studio was the worst. It would be amazing if a true bikram instructor opened a studio in Fort Myers. This guy doesn't deserve all this business.

I have a sedate day job mainly behind a desk or in countless meetings. Exercised every now and them but starting to realize that I wasn't as physically capable to do what I did just a few years ago. I then realized that I had runner's knee (knee clicks with every step) after a 5k charity run six months ago and felt I was a few steps away from knee surgery/replacement.
A friend recommended yoga without mentioning the variants and saw Jim's Bikram Yoga class was on the way to work. Entered a heated dark room where ~20 students had laid out their yoga mats. Class starts when Jim turns on the lights and begin the 26 formal stretching, compression, and strength building postures separated by 26 brief breaks or savasanas and 3 water breaks.
Jim would describe what to do and what to emphasize or tries to motivate us as we are doing the postures and during the savasanas. Jim makes it a point to know everyone's first name and I was called out by Jim for not conducting a posture safely which helped me
to correctly position myself. After the 1st session, I was surprised how challenging a workout it was.
Although I expected that the muscles around my knees were extremely weak, because the
26 postures are geared for the entire body I noticed how inflexible my back and legs have become.

Currently I try to attend a Bikram class at least 1-3x week especially when I am traveling for work. Over ~ 6 months, I feel I have more energy, flexibility and amazing heat tolerance. The Florida heat no longer bothers me.
I highly recommend Jim's classes for the following:

1. passion - Jim lives and breathes Bikram and it shows when he is instructing us or trying to motivate us. I believe that I have kept it up and
progressed faster because of it.

2. precise instruction - Jim's Bikram experience shows as he is giving advice on what to emphasize during the different postures.

Highly recommend!

I was not able to do many of the postures and breathing but I did not give up because I just knew that this was the most powerful and healthful thing that I could do for myself. I had read about all of the benefits of Bikram Yoga as well as other's testimonials, and I wanted to experience it too! Through daily practice, perseverance, and believing in myself, I created a mind and body that never felt or looked as good! It was exhilarating for others to notice these changes too, such as my acne disappearing, my healthy skin glow, and my happy, serene moods. I could go on and on about the "new" me but ultimately people need to find out for themselves what this yoga can do for them.

Fast forward to today, and I am practicing Bikram Yoga at 36 weeks pregnant. I have been actively practicing since the beginning of my second trimester and I feel absolutely amazing!!! I'm not having the "typical" pregnancy complaints that many women have, which I believe is largely due to the yoga. My energy levels are up and I am incredibly thankful to have found this yoga and continue practicing during such a miraculous and changing time in my life.

Lastly, I just have to say how much I have grown to love not only the yoga but the people at the Bikram Fort Myers studio. They truly are my family and one of a kind. I feel very fortunate to have Jim as my yoga instructor. His passion and discipline for the yoga practice has driven and inspired me throughout the years, and for that I am eternally grateful....

I Have been practicing Bikram for over a year at the Fort Myers Studio. I have read with interest some of the reviews concerning the smell. Many studios have the "Bikram Yoga smell. (heat + humidity + sweat = smell). I have been to studios in many parts of the country including several in New York where the smell was equally strong. Its part of the practice, get over it, it will not kill you. Regarding the instructor, I would characterize him as "hard core", meaning he expects anyone who comes in to take the practice seriously and try to get the benefits for the time you spend in the class. Of the many instructors I have seen over the past year I put him at the top of the list. He genuinely cares and wants to help everyone improve their practice. If you want to be "babied" and you do not want to work hard and reap the benefits this class is probably not for you. It is and hour and a half of heat, humidity, and hard work. And that is the way it should be. Some people are not prepared for how difficult it is. If you try Bikram for 3 or 4 days a week for two weeks you will be hooked. I am and it changed my life. I wish I had found Bikram 20 years ago. I will put up with a little odor. And by the way, the carpet get cleaned on a regular basis. marty b

I started doing Bikram Yoga over a year ago at the Fort Myers location. I had never done any type of yoga before and was scared to death. I have RA which also made me nervous, but it's the best decision I've ever made and it has changed my life. The classes are not meant to be easy. They are meant to challenge you and make you a better person in every way. Jim is not there to coddle you and make it easy. He is there to challenge you. Most people need that...I know I do. I still cannot do the positions 100% even a year later, but I am never made to feel bad for it or inferior. There are many people in the classes I do that have physical limitations. There are people of all shapes and sizes. I would recommend Bikram Yoga Fort Myers. It will change your life.

HORRIBLE
I love yoga and hoped this would be an interesting practice to start. I sent an email requesting more info and received no response. I figured they were busy and I physically stopped by after work to ask my questions in person with the possible intention of going to a class later that night. No one at the front desk, so I waited. NO HEY HOWS IT GOING OR HOW CAN I HELP YOU?! Just get out, we're closed. I came to ask a couple questions and whoever it was couldn't take 5 minutes to answer them and maybe make me a new customer. It is ridiculous if that is how you treat your customers. I was there to learn and I live down the street. I would have LOVED to take part in the $50 test drive and truly take advantage of what this practice has to offer, but I was so turned off at this guys "customer service". I don't plan on ever going back there again, and if you are like me and would just like to expand your knowledge of the practice don't go here. There people don't care about you, or your work schedule or the fact that you even want to be there to learn. It's all about them and taking your money.

That place has to be in some type of health code violation. It smelled terrible.
