Black Cat is a divine portal of healing. This yoga studio is more than a studio; it is a community of souls coming together to raise the vibration of the collective. The owners are amazing, and show up to every class with their own authentic truth. By far the best yoga studio in Jacksonville in my opinion.

The Black Cat Yoga studio brings me tranquility, joy and a sense of coming back to me. The energy of the studio. The energy of Lisa and Kevin, as the guides of the studio, feels like a big hug. I have attended Kirtan sessions, full moon and sound healing meditations. I always leave with a sense of union, a sense of Yoga - where my mind, body and spirit have become one. This is a wonderful and magical studio that allows me, to connect to me.

I can’t say enough good things about Black Cat Yoga! From the moment you walk in, Lisa and Kevin make you feel so incredibly welcome. Their positive energy is infectious, and it truly sets the tone for a wonderful experience.
I primarily attend their weekly summer special events and the monthly sound baths, and each session has been transformative. Lisa and Kevin's practice has helped me feel more grounded and has given me the tools to navigate life with better balance and clarity.
Their classes have allowed me to reconnect with my body, release stress, and build strength—both inside and out. I wouldn’t have experienced this growth without their guidance. If you’re looking for a supportive and uplifting yoga community, Black Cat Yoga is the place to be! Highly recommend!

I’m so grateful I decided to take a class with Lisa a few months ago! I’ve been coming regularly ever since. This studio is so very unique in every way! Kevin & Lisa are so warm and welcoming. The studio is serene and simply beautiful. I consider myself a beginner yogi, I’ve taken many classes at a variety of places over the years. This is the first studio that I’ve officially “joined”. I feel so comfortable and welcomed by the entire Black Cat community! Lisa’s classes are exactly what I needed to really be able to understand and embrace what yoga truly is. It’s so much more than exercise. It’s a “practice”, it’s meditative, it’s going within yourself and connecting with your body & mind. Her wisdom that she shares in each class is profound! She amazes, as well as
inspires me with her musical talents, her calming voice, and her gentle guidance & instruction. I’ve been to several workshops with both Kevin & Lisa. Kudos to Kevin too!!
Our community is very blessed to have such a lovely yoga haven! Namaste 🙏🏼

I have done yoga only a handful of times. I often don't return to classes because I feel so out of place as a beginner. A friend recommended Black Cat Yoga studio to me and I desperately needed some ME time to unwind. The candlelight restorative class was just what I needed. Kevin made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The space is beautiful and intimate. I cannot wait to go back.

I recently attended a yoga retreat at with Lisa and Kevin at Heartwood Retreat Center in Blue Ridge, GA and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Lisa and Kevin McCormick are truly awesome and their passion for yoga shines through in their teaching. The center itself is a peaceful oasis surrounded by nature, providing the perfect environment for connecting with oneself and finding inner peace. The daily yoga practice was challenging yet nourishing and the sound bath was heaven. I left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the experience. I highly recommend Heartwood Retreat Center and Lisa and Kevin as instructors for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice and connect with nature.

I was invited to attend a yoga retreat being hosted by Black Cat Yoga in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It seemed like the perfect place to unplug and get away from the world, and it was!! Once I arrived to the cabin, there was a thoughtful swag bag curated with a black cat studio blanket, sticker, journal, itinerary, and flashlight for evening walks. Lisa and Kevin worked together and created a perfect environment for us to enjoy. The yoga practices were full of permissions to modify postures, information that I can only explain as yummy nuggets to deepen your practice or help you drop in for the ride, and they provide their own soundtrack using their own instruments. I trained to be an instructor at a big school in Jax, but have never experienced a studio that offers asana (physical practice), kirtan (singing in Sanskrit), yoga nidra (deep meditation), and sound baths (just magical). These are all of the things Lisa and Kevin planned out painstakingly for us. Additionally, we took a field trip to an orchard and tried different ciders and had a planned trip to hike to a waterfall (weather did not permit the latter). Aside from the planned itinerary, there was some down time should you be interested in a Thai massage or emotional release session. I highly recommend an emotional release session with Christina, that is also the cook at The Heartwood Retreat.
I look forward to visiting Black Cat Yoga when I visit home again, as well as booking a future retreat. What an experience!!

I've only done a handful of 'yoga' classes in my life, and most of those were with fairly untrained instructors. What a difference at Black Cat Yoga. Kevin and Lisa are welcoming, kind, and devoted to the practice of yoga and to the people who attend their classes. I feel comfortable despite being a Type A who doesn't do 'hippie' and who knows almost nothing about yoga or yoga studios. In other words, they aren't too weird. lol
Practicing yoga has been incredibly helpful for me to find a few quiet hours during the week where I am completely disconnected from email, phone calls, texts, and notifications of all kinds. It's been good for my spirit and soul. Not to mention how much better I feel physically. It has helped reduce the amount of back pain that I experience daily from sitting at a desk all day long.
I can't tell you what kind of yoga they practice and I don't understand most of the terminology. I can tell you that it's a new found passion and I love going and being there in the space Kevin and Lisa have created. I particularly love the Wednesday Yin class.
If you are interested in trying yoga for the first time this is a good place to start. Of course, there are people there who are clearly further along the path but they are also welcoming and affirming. 5 out of five stars, highly recommend.

Authentic, welcoming, and peaceful are just a few words that come to mind when I think of Black Cat Yoga! Kevin and Lisa have created a sanctuary here in Riverside/Avondale. Convenient class times with a variety of offerings from yin yoga to vinyasa and regular sound baths. If only I could give them more than five stars.

I began practicing at Black Cat Yoga in 2018 when I was staying with my parents while my husband were in the process relocating from Alabama to Orlando and we were looking for a new home. At the time, I was incredibly stressed, in pain from an injury and feeling helpless. I purchase classes through a Groupon special and all I can say was it was the best thing for me at the time.
I mostly took Lisa's classes while I was staying with my family and I am so thankful and grateful for her kindness while I was feeling broken. She made me feel welcome, seen and care for and it was the perfect place for me to start deepening my yoga practice. I told her about my injury (torn hip labrum) and she showed me modifications. She encouraged me to be gentle and to go at my own pace.
Now, when I am in Jacksonville visiting my family, Black Cat Yoga is my studio of choice for practicing. I love the calm and peaceful energy of the studio and both Lisa and Kevin a wonderful yoga teachers.
If you are looking for a yoga studio to call home, or are visiting when in town, I encourage you to go. You'll be happy you did.

I love this place! The owners are very sweet and caring. They always make sure that your practice and progress is noticed, without being overbearing. There are night-time and morning classes, which is a big plus, and there are also weekend and other themed classes. They use many different instruments and props to enhance the experience. The studio is very clean and always smells nice. The lighting is nice, the artwork is pretty, and the studio itself has a homey feel. The atmosphere is positive and open, and there is room for both the beginner and the advanced. They have a wide range of membership options at a great price. The app used for scheduling classes is very user friendly. They also have a small selection of products for sale like candles, sprays, etc, that all smell very nice.

This studio was by far my favorite yoga studio I've ever been to, and my only regret is that I didn't find it sooner!
As a relative beginner to yoga, I found it to be a welcoming, friendly, and judgment free environment. The instructors are fantastic. They take into consideration that every body is different, and offer different versions of each pose from beginner to advanced. Whenever corrections to my form were made, it was very gentle, and never made me feel like "Oh no, I'm doing it wrong".
I started with a sound bath class (an experience I couldn't recommend enough), and moved into some of the different yoga classes. All of them were great, and I definitely recommend Yin yoga for a beginner or for a more meditative experience.
Overall, I have nothing but good things to say. The prices are very reasonable, the studio itself is welcoming, clean, smells nice, and is decorated in a way that contributes to the experience. I've since left Jacksonville, but anytime I'm back in the area, I will certainly be checking back in at this studio.
This studio felt like home after only a few visits! Try it out, and I guarantee you'll feel the same. 🙏

You can feel the love from the moment you step into Black Cat - Kevin and Lisa are both so welcoming and open. The classes are well paced and balanced and always leave me with a feeling of love, appreciation and gratitude for my teachers and those around me. Members get to leave their mats at the studio, which for me invites a sense of belonging to this space Lisa and Kevin have created.
The packages are well priced and some are structured to never expire, which is a huge benefit for those who cannot come as often as they would like. This leaves me with the impression that Black Cat is more about the experience than the money.
The studio has been set up to accommodate the pandemic with plenty of spaces between mats and cleaning supplies as well.
I love Black Cat Yoga - try it for yourself!

The difference with Black Cat Yoga is that the owners, Kevin and Lisa McCormack, welcome you as if you are in their home. i came here completely unaware of what yoga even was. i was in pain and not able to walk well, i was using a cane at the time, and i just wanted some relief so i thought i would try some chair yoga. i took my first class with lisa and the rest is history! i fell in love with their space. they have created such a warm, welcoming, safe space for literally ANYONE to practice. as a trans man i find it hard to allow myself to be in a room full of cisgender people. at black cat i am able to just be and it is such a beautiful and freeing feeling. my practice went from the chair to the mat within 6 months. kevin and lisa helped me build not only physical strength but they helped me build confidnce in my own practice and life. black cat offers a ton of great classes for any skill level. kevin and lisa offer support and will help correct your posture while posing (with consent which is awesome!) during classes. they are both great teachers. they support their community (even the lgbt community!). they really care about their students. they watched me become a dad and rooted for me the entire time. even though my time in their studio feels very non-existent these days they are still a part of our lives. i love black cat and all it has given me. i promise anyone who enters through those doors that you will not regret practicing here!

I have dabbled in yoga over the years, but never found a studio where I felt comfortable. I wanted to get diligent about my yoga practice and decided to try Black Cat Yoga because one of my felines is a black cat and he’s awesome. Also, I attended an event at Cattyshack (you should also check that place out), where we did yoga with the tigers! Kevin’s clear instructions and the vibe told me I had to check out their studio. I’m so very glad I did. As other reviews have mentioned, Lisa & Kevin do an amazing job with instruction, they are friendly, welcoming, accommodating of skill level and conditions. This is the only studio I’ve ever been where the instructor may offer a prop during a pose if they see me struggling or think I might like one. It’s much easier to integrate yoga into my life when practicing with them and the community. I’m very grateful for the space they have and hold for us. Try it. You’ll love it.

I have been practicing yoga for 25 years and this is my favorite place in Jacksonville. Lisa and Kevin make it so but caring so very much about each and every person in the studio. One of the biggest differences is that they don't take the class when they instruct....they focus on you, providing great clarity to the poses and modifications to reach all levels. The practice at Black Cat Yoga goes beyond stretching and bending. You will feel the difference.

I had never done yoga before but I really enjoyed it.
I then realized that the studio was right on the path that I take going home everyday.
I noticed on line that they offered a foundational flow class that both worked with my schedule and appealed to me as a person who new nothing about yoga. After taking classes at this amazing studio I am feeling more comfortable with the poses.
