This next week is a sad one for me. The gym I’ve grown to know and love has been such an amazing program, and it’s played a huge role in changing my life for the better. But over time, the work environment and overall culture at this location have become really hard to ignore.
From my experience, a lot of members (myself included) have started to feel the effects of the cliquish behavior coming from staff—especially management. It’s tough to watch a program that preaches community, support, and uplifting each other turn into something that feels the opposite. Instead of everyone being welcomed, it often seems like only a small inner circle gets that sense of belonging.
What makes it even more disappointing is seeing core values promoted to employees and members, but not consistently practiced by the people in charge. It’s unfortunate to watch such a strong, life-changing program get overshadowed by how it’s being run.
Burn Boot Camp has genuinely changed my life, and I still believe deeply in what the program stands for. I truly hope this location finds its way back to the standard that Burn is known for—because the members, the trainers, and the brand deserve better. Unfortunately this Location in my experience has not held up to what the burn standard should be. I pray one day it gets back to the core values and community they preach and what I have seen and felt from other locations.

I absolutely love working with Jocelyn! She is hands down one of the best trainers I've had. She knows just how to keep you motivated, always pushing you to go that extra mile, even when there's less than 15 seconds left on the clock. She encourages you to challenge yourself and add heavier weights because she truly believes in your potential. Beyond her training skills, she's an incredibly kind, sweet, and humble person. I had been searching for almost a year to find a fitness program that would truly challenge me, and I finally found it! Jenn is amazing. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Everyone is supportive and encouraging. No judgement. They offer modifications and keep an eye on you to make sure you are doing exercises correctly to the best of your ability. I want to start by saying that Burn Boot Camp has had a significant impact on my life as a minority woman, wife, and mother. Burn Boot Camp offers a sense of COMMUNITY that will motivate you with focus meetings to discuss goals or challenges, various camp times throughout the day, CHILDCARE, and a space to be VULNERABLE. All of these things matter to me as a minority and a mother.
As a former athlete and military personnel, I took pride in staying in shape. However, that became difficult after having kids. Over the years, I've had memberships at Crunch Fitness, Orangetheory, and a CrossFit gym. Finding childcare, a sense of community, and time for myself to work out was challenging. My friend told me about Burn and encouraged me to try it. However, I felt so defeated by other gyms that I refused to consider another membership, so I just stuck to running outside on my own.
Finally, one day, I decided to visit Fleming Island and give Burn Boot Camp a chance. I was warmly greeted at the door, and the trainers made me feel welcome. To top it off, they offered childcare and a universal membership that allowed me to work out at other locations in other states when I traveled. I tried their trial and ended up signing up for a membership. Since I joined Burn, I've encountered many changes and life challenges, but the community at Burn has supported me through it all. After my last pregnancy, I had difficulties with my emotions, getting back into working out, and achieving my weight goals.
The trainers (Jen, Jocelyn, Jessica & Ashley) are motivating, filled with energy and truly care! During a focus meeting, I spoke with Trainer Jen, who discussed ways to make meal prepping easier for my lifestyle. Social media often portrays meal prepping as something that happens on a Sunday evening, requiring hours to prepare for just one week. Jen helped me meal prep on the fly, even with a busy schedule, which was incredibly helpful. Trainer Lexi pushed me every time I was in the gym and checked in on me when I didn’t show up to see how I was doing. Jen also reached out when I missed workouts. Talk about accountability! You definitely feel motivated to show up the next day after receiving a text from your trainers letting you know they haven’t seen you in a while. 😉 Erin helped guide me back after a challenging emotional life experience. She listened to me and didn’t judge. The desk staff was always kind to my kids and me. At that time, I didn’t know her name, but Tiffany, the childcare employee, always smiled and asked how I was doing when I dropped off my kids. Thanks to the people I mentioned and the rest of the Burn team, I have achieved my weight goals, look forward to going to the gym, and have grown much closer to those around me.
Please do not just try a trial period and make a decision based on other members. With the different camp times, early morning members are still waking up and just trying to get through their workout before their day begins. Midday camp members likely rushed out the door with their toddlers to make it to camp on time. Evening camp members probably had a long day, but they are so happy to squeeze in their workout that they may be feeling more upbeat. Trust me, Burn will suit your personality. Just like a new school, job, or place, we all have to figure out where we belong. You will find the camp time that may work best for you. If you feel that a camp did not fit your needs, please speak to the trainers or front desk to see how they can assist you. They will help!
I delayed signing up when my friend was suggesting Burn. My journey could have started so much sooner if I had listened to my friend and talked with a team member at Burn first. I highly recommend Burn. Please, if you read a bad review, come in first and speak to the team before letting that review turn you away.

I have been a member here for 3 years and attend 5-6 days a week religiously. I have never written a review for Burn. I didn’t feel it was necessary based on all the positive feedback provided over the recent years and high star rating. (Not to mention countless Best of Clay awards in numerous categories)
However, I feel the need to write one now based on the most recent review left by Stephanie “Stephanie.” My review is not intended to insult or embarrass Stephanie. My review is intended for future prospective members who might just find what they are looking for here but consider another option based on her review. I want those prospective members to please read my entire review before making your decision. Stephanie wrote her review based on 2 days worth of experience without knowing the entire picture and wrongly assumed the worst. Please do not let her comments dissuade you from giving Burn a chance. It is like a second home to me and there have been so many friendships formed here, not just for me, but for every single member here. You might not be part of everyone’s social circle but you will find your social circle. That’s just how it is, whether it be at the gym, at work, at church, you name it.
I’d like to address a few things in her comments. First, she stated she did not feel a sense of inclusion during her visit. What she failed to mention is that she was acknowledged in front of the entire group who she just worked out with that it was her first time attending to which everyone gave her a round of applause. Additionally, she was featured on Burn’s IG stories today (her last day) with the caption “You got this!” Ask yourself this, would you feel excluded?
Second, to give you context, there are days we work out on our own or we partner up for the entire workout. Sometimes there are stations with one exercise, sometimes 2 or more and you start where you want. She made a comment about being left alone while others partnered up. Well, the day she is referring to was not a partner day. The station she was assigned had 2 exercise options. Members chose where to begin. For whatever reason, she chose one and the rest in her group chose the other. That’s not unheard of. I’ve worked out by myself in one station before while the members in my group chose the other option. If you attend more than 2 times, you will come to learn this. I never jumped to the conclusion it was me.
Lastly, she referred to “group encouragement moments,” particularly high fives. Throughout the entire workout, trainers will tell us numerous times to high five each other. That’s the vibe here. I’ll be honest, I’m not a “high fiver” and I’m not the only one. I don’t even high five my sister when we work out together or myself for that matter. If you get one from me, go buy a lottery ticket. Anyway, there are 8 different camp times M-F. There are camps with members that don’t high five and there are camps with members that turn your hands red. Every camp time has different personalities. Again, had Stephanie stuck with Burn more than 2 days she would have come to that realization. I’m sorry she feels the way she does and I hope she gives Burn another chance because she left not knowing the full context of this gym and the people here.

I want to start by shouting out Jen, the trainer—she’s absolutely incredible. Super energetic, motivating, and clearly passionate about what she does. Her instruction was top-tier, and she kept the energy up the entire workout.
However, my overall experience at the gym was not what I had hoped for. As an African American woman, I didn’t feel a sense of inclusion during my visit. When it came time to pair up, I was left to work alone while others partnered up. And during the group encouragement moments—like high-fives or tapping in with someone next to you—I was noticeably excluded.
That kind of environment matters just as much as the workout itself. Feeling seen, welcomed, and supported in a fitness space is essential, and unfortunately, I didn’t get that here.
For that reason, I won’t be returning, but I do hope this feedback helps the gym grow and become more intentionally inclusive for everyone walking through their doors.

I’ve always enjoyed some type of work out but would essentially get bored, lose interest or not see any results and then give up a gym membership. I would always find an excuse to not go either. I’d say oh after this week I’ll start it after I’ve recovered from having my baby I’ll get back to it….but I never followed through. That’s not the case with BURN! When I think I’ve got nothing left they cheer me on and help me get one more then another. Every workout is different therefore I’m never bored. On the days I’m like I don’t want to I go and I’m never disappointed….maybe sore but never disappointed! I like that they are willing to make modifications to a workout if it’s to hard or uncomfortable. Allowing me to workout comfortably but effectively is an amazing thing for me! Also with child watch I can’t use the excuse I have no sitter so I can’t go to the gym. It’s the hardest but empowering 30-45 minutes of my day!!

I have been a member of Burn Boot Camp Fleming Island for over 3 years now and I absolutely love it. Our trainers are extremely knowledgeable and are always encouraging and motivating. The atmosphere at Burn Boot Camp is so welcoming. Stepping in the door the first time is the hardest part, but once you do you’ll be hooked. I joined burn boot camp about a month ago. I have 3 kids 3 and under & it was time to take control of my body back. The camps are incredible & trainers are amazing! The 45 minute camps are the perfect amount of time and free childcare makes it so convenient. No more excuses! I am so excited to see where this journey takes me.

Great atmosphere. I walked in not knowing anyone, the trainers were very nice and helpful. Everyone working out welcomed me and made me feel like I belong there. After one week I can tel a big difference physically and mentally.

I first started Burn Boot Camp in June for a one month trial and loved it. The trainers were so supportive and encouraging. After sampling several other gyms. My mind was set. I know I will get a great sweat session and I see my progress. Well worth the price. Every day is something new and challenging. The environment is so motivating. I just restarted my membership and reset my goals and I am excited to see my results.

The trainers are encouraging and show you proper form and have modifications for every level. It really feels like a community. I’m very excited for my Burn journey!

I have been a member for three years now, and I still wake up at 4:15 a.m. to go every day! The trainers are very encouraging and will help you do things you didn't think you were capable of. They have modifications for all exercises so anyone, no matter their fitness level, can get a great workout in! Come check them out, they even have a free trial available.

Legit, the best fitness facility in town for women who want more out of their "gym membership". You'll never be have to think "what will my routine be today". Everyday is a new workout and your trainer does all of the "thinking" for you! This is not typical gym machines, YOU ARE THE MACHINE! Come prepared to sweat and come prepared to make a whole new circle of friends! The staff is incredibly kind! The members are just as welcoming! No clicks, everyone is loved and made to feel welcomed. There is an express 5am camp, and 530 & 630 camps, mid-morning camps at 830 & 930 and evening camps at 430, 530 & 530.. child care is included in your membership for mid-morning and evening camps! All sorts of promotions and discounts, just ask!

All members that pay a lump sum for their membership term in advance(6 months, 12 months, etc.), BE AWARE!
I specifically said I didnt want a monthly financial obligation when I payed for my term upfront. This is dishonest business.
They will turn your contract into a month to month and charge you whatever the monthly fee is (I was never quoted). Even if you payed, signed, and committed to only 6 months. Read your contract, and check your bank account!
