I was so embarrassed when I showed up at my gym yesterday with a guest and learned that I can no longer bring my son or a guest to the gym with me. I chose the specific membership with Bailey's that included this feature. Now that things have changed to Chuze Fitness, I'm being told that I need to "upgrade" my membership and sign a new contract to have the same benefits I had when the gym was Bailey's. That's the most bait and switch type shit I've had to deal with in recent times.

I normally love this gym and have never had a problem until yesterday, I came in and tried to use the members door using my card and it wouldn’t scan so I came in the other door and that is when Casey said in a very rude attitude that I need to use the app instead of my card and I let him know I have both, and he said well cards will be no one soon so I need to get to get the app and use my membership that way. I came in again today and Natasha was so much nicer and tried her best to help me and we got it figured out.

The music will raise your estrogen levels. It's on a loop so you have to hear the same thing everytime you come in if you are consistently in at the same time each day. I pay for use of the athletic room and now they have decided to move the athletic training equipment to the large weight training room, giving everyone access to what I have been paying extra for. So what am I paying for? The machines are not in any kind of order, some benches are bolted into the ground crooked and with a grid on the ceiling not lining up with the angle of the bar, it makes it hard to use the flat benches. Some machines are facing eachother so it put you face to face with someone else doing their workout. Creepy. What up with all the Qtips outside the gym. Seems pretty unsanitary. There are paper towels all over the bathroom floor. The sales area is bare.

I’m there for now because it’s the closest gym to my house. The problem that I’m having is the temperature. I’ve asked them a few times and they say it’s 72 degrees but it feels steamy and too hot and possibly hight 70s close to 80 degrees. I’ll probably end up switching.

I don’t write reviews often, but I absolutely have to give credit where credit is due. A couple of months ago, I found myself in an ordeal that I’d been dealing with for months, thanks to unfulfilled promises and poor follow-through from the assistant manager at the Saint Augustine location. I won’t go into detail except to say I’m glad I no longer have to deal with that mess — or hear excuses that went nowhere from the girl with the lisp.

Enter Nelle, the assistant manager (or manager) at the Old St. Augustine Rd and San Jose Chuze Fitness. She was my saving grace! From the moment I explained my situation, she was nothing but professional, attentive, and genuinely willing to help. Nelle actually listened to my issue, clearly explained what the company could and could not do — setting healthy boundaries — and then got to work to make it right.

I told her that if she could just get me back to where I was before the issue, I’d be happy. LITERALLY within 30 minutes, while I was working out, she came up to me with the good news. She resolved what had been dragging on for months in half an hour — talk about efficiency!

Nelle absolutely deserves recognition — and honestly, a promotion. Not because she’ll do everything perfectly 100% of the time (nobody does), but because she has the character to strive for excellence every single day. She radiates outstanding customer service, truly cares about clients, and does so with the professionalism and poise to balance the needs of both the customer and the company.

Sometimes you need people who just do the job. Other times, you need leaders who move the train forward — and Nelle is that second type of person. People like her build trust, boost client retention, and create an environment where people feel valued.

Thank you, Nelle, for being awesome and helping me when no one else would. Chuze Fitness, I hope you know what a gem you have in her!

What an impressive renovation from legacy Bailey's. This is a gym worth every cent.
It boasts amazing group fitness classes, green room with strength training equipment, new glute lab, wellness room equipped with massage chairs, sauna and compression chairs, zen room offering hot yoga soon, tbasketball courts and a whole array of equipment.
Last but not least, the staff is extremely wonderful. Always smiling, courteous and helpful.

Moreover it's kept clean now. It's not unusual to see the staff constantly cleaning the bathrooms and the equipment. Love it!

I love the gym! On the first day I thought: damn, why did I change LA FITNESS, for this gym with old devices? And soon I started to find myself in the middle of the devices and today I'm in love with every corner of the gym! Obviously, there are still many old devices falling to pieces, but the gym is under renovation and it's getting better every day to train and go to the gym, it's being the best time of my day!

I love this gym tbh, I’ve been going here for years before it was Chuze, but since the buy out the music is just terrible, like it’s some depressing department store, and it’s so loud it comes through the noise canceling on AirPods. Hard to lock in if I’m being forced to listen to Sabrina Carpenter, or that stupid Apt. song that’s comes on hourly. The cramped layout is kinda yikes too.

So far not a fan of the new layout. Chuze Fitness bought Bailey’s and is now remodeling… They’ve crammed all the equipment close together to make room for what I was told is going to be a TRX area?? Unfortunately, -like many- I can’t do TRX due to previous injuries and restrictions. So, to accommodate the TRX group the rest of us are now crammed together in the most inefficient arrangement of equipment. I used to like the openness -especially not being crammed together.
**So, update…I could be wrong about the TRX area…so far it appears to be a huge empty waste of space… the rest of the facility it tightly packed…now… but fortunately we now have a large mostly empty area of fake grass👍 I hope this is not a nod to our terrible NFL team…
I’ll wait to see the finished product but so far the new layout is not making a good impression. Might be time to find a new gym… still miss you Bailey’s…

I walked in today Apr 12 and was AMAZED at the upgrades. 2 hammer abs to my right and a rearrange. 2 LF dip/pull-up machines. Already I was happy. On to the main room! Wow. Organized. I looked for my favorite pieces like hammer press and deadlift, other solid favorites- and they were there and more. LF, Icarian, some real OG units in excellent condition. It was nice to see an upgrade from mid level Matrix. I had the best Leg workout of the year and used some new pieces to do so. You must have read my “what can we do to improve your experience” email bc it was ALL there.
I have never.seen an upgrade response like this in 25 years of gym life. Bravo…

would have rated it 4 stars. Things have changed The new manager Sandy treats her staff without respect also is rude to customers . The daycare has completely changed where it used to be a fun place for kids .Even the front is not the same . They have gotten rid of all the janitors Sandy is more focused at that location on cleaning. Then providing a safe fun environment for the kids.The daycare people are now also the janitors. Sandy the manager no longer is putting the kids first like they used to . I would say this is not a place I would have my children .For the Play attendance are dealing with chemicals and barely in the room to take care of the children. I think if they brought back the janitors to do these jobs that are supposed to be done. I would rate it higher also if new management was there.

I went for a year in 2019 but gave it up because I wasn’t going as often in the last few months. But then after recent health issues and not being in great shape, I started going as a guest in September 2024 here and then signed up again officially in October 2024 and been taking it more serious and have seen improvements since. Now as for the gym itself, It’s overall better than when I went 5 years ago. The Staff is great, The gym culture is much better than it used to be, Me personally I don’t mind what others do despite the stereotypical stories you hear but it’s a pretty good gym culture here. Equipment is always in good condition and there’s a good variety of it, Good variety of amenities. Because of my work schedule, I go in the evenings, (Love the 24 hour gym option) and I’ve enjoyed it overall. If you’re looking to start going to a gym or a different gym company. Bailey’s/Chuze is the best option in Jacksonville because of these things. Now my only complaint is which I won’t decrease the stars for it, I just wish the locker room and shower area was more clean and maintained but people should be picking up after themselves anyways that have trash and not relying on the janitors or staff to do it for them. Also shout out to Luis for the sign up process and shout out to all the staff who works there that makes Baileys great!

I was skeptical of the change over from Baileys to CHUZE but the more I see what Chuze is doing, the more I like it. Their new outdoor signs look great too. Chuze seems to be taking a once great gym to a new level and when the renovations are done, they'll be no gym network in the Jax area that will come close to it. One of the best features that Baileys initiated years ago is the 24/7 hour access which is one reason why I've remained a member for so long. Holiday closings that other gyms adhere to, are moot when it comes to Baileys...you can work out any time you desire at most of the B's locations if you have the all access membership. I welcome CHUZE to our city!

10/10 do not recommend this gym at all. Firstly due to very poor management who does not care about their members and cannot admit when they messed up. I cancelled my membership because they had been charging my little sisters card for MY account for the past 7 months. Whoever put her card on my account did not verify our first names, they only saw that we have the same last name and went ahead and put her credit card on MY file (my sister is a member here too). In doing so, they left my sisters account with an expired card on file because they never updated it. When I went to correct this today, they told me my sister has a balance on her account and her account was sent to collections. My sister was never notified of this and was under the impression she was paying monthly but the gym had mixed up our accounts. They should have completely removed the balance off of her account since they are the ones who made this whole mess by mixing up our names and cards but they told my sister she is responsible for paying her "balance". These people are very unorganized and not to mention, were very condescending and non-chalant about this whole mix up acting like they did not do anything wrong, etc. Needless to say, we both cancelled our memberships and our friends and family will be cancelling as well. This could have easily been solved if they admitted they messed up and removed my sisters fake balance off of the account but instead, they have lost multiple members due to being greedy as well as rude and irresponsible.

I like the Steam Room on occasion. Its the only Bailey's with that accommodation....not a Sauna guy here...Baileys keeps their gyms spotless and they have every possible piece of equipment for cardio or muscle enhancement. With the upgraded membership, you can access most Baileys 24-7 which is a BIG DEAL to me since I workout at odd times and the gyms that close at 10 just don't work for me. Long time member and rarely a complaint. The change to the new CHUZE fitness, I'll wait and see but the Bailey brothers were a strong team and built AAA facilities with no matches in North FLA. There locations are not only LARGE but finished with taste and class. I'll miss the Bailey's team!

I’ve seen someone dusting every time I’m here, but no real cleaning or maintenance is being done. The bathrooms are disgusting and never mopped. The steam room reeks of mold. Do not sign up online, do a tour first… I would gladly pay more to go somewhere clean and now I’m stuck here for now. Looks like other people have had trouble getting out of agreement… Can’t wait. One of the employees entered my wife's payment information wrong resulting in months of late fees, despite having an alternate payment method on the account. When she called to correct it, the manager was heard in the background saying she can come in to fix it. When the employee was informed that she was in Connecticut for a crisis respiratory therapy contract, the manager was overheard saying "well then she can call corporate because I'm not dealing with this."

The gym is very large, spacious and wide open. At the busiest times, you never feel like you’re working out on top of one another. They have a huge variety of equipment on free weights, so that when you’re working a particular muscle group, you have plenty of options, well certain machines are being used. They have more than enough cardio equipment for the busiest times of day as well. My one criticism, would be when I believe many people here share, the locker rooms definitely need a better schedule of cleaning as they are typically not in great shape. They are not clean as awful as they should be. And the toilets unfortunately, regularly get backed up. They also run out of paper products in the bathrooms quite a bit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They do their best to stay on top of it, but they are shorthanded. Aside from that, the overall gym is the best in the area.

Like most of the other comments, my experience with costumer service was horrible and they will try and charge you unlawfully for anything they can. The gym is not clean in general and either is the equipment. Speaking of the equipment, it's old and falling apart, especially in the group exercise room. There are so many better options nearby.

Great place to workout. Excellent equipment. Very clean. Basketball court, cycling center, high intensity training center, free-weights, lots of machines, treadmills, saunas, massage beds, child care center.

I am changing my review from 3 years ago. I have been at this gym 12 years, it has always been clean. Mamosa and her husband use to clean our gym for those 12 years, it was great.
The new company transferred them to another gym. Younger couple is now cleaning. The black rubber flooring where the free weight are is HORRIBLE. It hasn't been mopped in at least 2 months. There are protein spills still on the floor from 2 months ago. There was no contact info on the website or I would has complained privately

Signed a contract for 1 year. Wanted to cancel my contract 18 months later but was told that I'm still under contract.
It wasn't until they changed their system and told me that I wouldn't be able to bring guests any more, that I called and was told the contract was now on monthly and I could have canceled back in January.
I got no help from corporate, but got hung up on.
Called a location I frequent and they hung up on me also, after telling me there is nothing they can do. I called back and the manager basically challenged me to a fight telling me to come to the gym.
Horrible customer service from every location that I've required anything more than them scanning a badge.

I wish they can help you when you need it same way they charge you for everything very fast. Sauna was cold and “No women” was working so the guy upfront could not help at all. Had to leave smh.

First off I want to say in general that I used to love baileys gym the equipment supplied and the use of the child care side as well. Very much worth the price. However…. In 2020 after getting covid I had multiple TIAs stroke and then pregnancy occurred. I gave a note from a physician about my health concerns at the time and it was supposed to be canceled right then (at the 103rd location) little did I know the manager there did not cancel my membership as requested no notes were placed in the system following Discussion.
I signed up for a new membership now almost 2.5 years later, paid 160 online after signing up, just to be told my membership was going to be canceled and my money was going to be forwarded to a past due balance of over $600 !!! I was shocked.
I call corporate office and Jennifer was completely unprofessional rude and nasty with her attitude for one not a person I would ever talk to again whom she stated she’s the boss. I then call sanjose where I registered and Kevin told me to contact Luke the District Manager. I contacted him spoke with him he was going to research and get things situated so I could return , was supposed to call me the next day since he couldn’t reach 103rd location and that’s not his store and still no word back from him 1 week later I was really hopeful something would be done. I sent emails on webmaster and Chelsea was also not helpful
, I get I’m being told I Owe money that I should not owe in the first place mind you, but I’m being told from Chelsea and Jennifer there was no note that they have no notes in the system and I can’t have any membership until I pay the now 462$ balance ( after they transferred my money to the balance I paid for new membership with) . They evidently think they have enough customers and money supplied to the branches so what’s loosing one?
This has been the worst experience at any gym , worst customer service . And to be unheard when speaking of having a stroke and having a doctors note given to break from the gym until cleared and no one taking my concern serious beginning with the staff at 103rd street location is terrible. Very inhumane and money hungry at best. Turning away customers trying to get things taken care of and who want to attend the gym is messed up by all staff not wanting to do their job.

A REALLY BAD AND NOW EXPENSIVE EXPERIENCE.

I moved the the Jacksonville area for work, I was going to be there a few months so when I sign the agreement I was told that I wasn’t going to be issue if I had to cancel my membership earlier then the year contract.

So as expected my contract at work ended like in 8 months after I got to Jacksonville area. I cancel the membership paid the $50 fee and they told me I’m good.

Few months later I got correspondence that I owe money. And that my cancellation was not approved. I need it prove of residence.
So I sent my banco statement, phone bill and such.

Now because the address is the same as the I used when I sign up it does not count. 🤦🏽 I made the argument that of course it is. I live in MD and i was there just for a temporary project. I finish came back home.

I talked to a few people on the phone and the case made sense to me, let me know if it makes sense to you the reader, but it didn’t seem to matter to them.

There is a lot of gyms and companies that are understanding of situations but this is not one of them. I am force to share this experience because now they sent me to collections and affecting my credit with an even higher amount than the one they originally were charging.

If you just need a place to workout it works, but if you care about the culture and values, find somewhere else.

First time today being in this gym and early in the morning. 1. Men's restrooms are very dirty . 2. Smelled super bad. 3. I am currently trying the 7 day free pass. Looked over their membership and compared it to crunch. Just let me say bailey's is not it, and Crunch is . Depending on your membership here, you can bring your guess in a certain amount of times per month and only till 8pm. when at crunch I can bring them in every day of the month till 11pm.

This location is too busy for my availability & liking .. sauna was out for weeks but finally got fixed .. don’t see many people wiping off the equipment when they use it either .. I prefer PF & that’s ok

Staff is very helpful and are able to assist on most tasks. Always looking to improve equipment and have a variety of equipment to use. One of the larger sites and plenty of room even on days where it is a little busy.

It's a decent gym, but you always feel like you're nothing more than a membership. Staff may or may not greet you, even if you're a regular. They blast music so loud I can barely hear my own earpods, and the selection is all 90s pop and other non lifting types of selections. The men's restroom is nasty as all gets out, toilets are clogged with paper towels and human waste, and the trashcans are overflowing. LA Fitness isn't perfect but they're way more on top of keeping things clean.

Best gym in Jacksonville by a mile. However, they need to fix equipment faster and upgrade attachments to more optimal ones etc. machines that are down are down for a while. Frustrating since we pay a maintenance fee annually on top of membership.
