I pay for a membership and the condition of the gym is horrible. I understand wear and tear on equipment but it’s ridiculous how many machines are broken for over a week. the ceiling is missing tiles, gym and locker room is dirty. but if I’m late making a payment I get charged a late fee. Management really needs to get engaged and fix that gym up .

It is a decent gym with aqua massage, tanning beds, two dark cardio rooms and a punching bag room. A lot of the equipment however squeaks and squeals with their needs of oil and maintenance. It is a fairly large space at a fair monthly rate, but it hard for me to suggest a slightly further drive to get there if you have a closer option.

Don’t let the fresh paint and new sign on the front of the building deceive you. It’s still the same crusty old Baileys on the inside. Frozen in time from 20 some odd years ago. Even the sign that greets you to “stay connected” via MySpace. Good for nostalgia purposes, I suppose.

Old rusty equipment, musty moldy smell on the inside. Not enough free standing squat racks or “popular machines” for everyone. And I don’t go at the peak times either.

I guess Chuze ran out of their renovation budget for this location. I’ll gladly update my review if/when they renovate it like the other locations.

Well here we are 3 months later, roof still leaks & equipment is old/ worn out.
8/24@6pm the ceiling tiles fell out from water damage due leaking roof.
I Never recommend this place, you would expect Chuze leadership to take immediate action to get better facility & equipment.

My expectations were Chuze leadership would invest in this facility & equipment. The facility is horrible, the roof leaks, the AC doesn’t work in men’s locker room. This week after a rainstorm, over the cable machines, roof was leaking on me during workout.
The equipment is old & worn out, often broken / under repair.
Have ask leadership to get additional / new nautilus adjustable incline benches for 2 yrs. Nothing.

Unfortunately I will not renew my annual contract, you are the gym closest to my home but I will make an effort to go somewhere else, the temperature of the gym is VERY VERY high, everyone is soaked in sweat, the smell of the gym gets terrible, the equipment get dirty and stink, the Sunbeam unit and the beach have been revitalized, but not this one. There are many broken equipment and none maintenance on cables, many machines making noise and screwing.

The office closes at 4pm on weekends. Im a couple blocks from the gym and could of easily made it there. So tell me why your workers dont answer the phone? I called 8 times from 330pm to 345. There's no acceptable reason for a business to send calls to vm that many times. Definitely never going to sign up at this place. I have no doubt the facility is fine. But what if I were a member and had a real issue. Yall just ignore calls for your own convenience. I hope the owner or gm sees this and takes action on the staff for this. Absolutely outrageous.

I signed up at Choose Fitness (formerly Bailey’s) on March 28th of last year, paying for a one-year membership in full. I told the person who signed me up that I was only going to be in the area for work for one year, and he assured me my account would not be set to renew. No credit card info was taken, and I trusted that it was all handled.

Now, a year later, I’ve received emails saying I owe money for two months past due. I went to the gym and spoke with the manager, Matt, who said there were no notes in the system and refused to cancel the account unless I paid the balance. I gave the name of the employee who signed me up, and Matt said he’d look into it—then proceeded to imply that I was being dishonest, referencing “company policy” as the reason he couldn’t do anything.

But here’s where the inconsistency really shows: I also paid for personal training at this location for over six months. When I canceled in December, I was still charged beyond the agreement. I disputed the charge through my credit card company—and the personal training manager was responsive, respectful, and handled it promptly. He took care of the situation the right way.

So I know this company can operate with integrity—because I experienced it. But not with this gym manager. Matt’s handling of the situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly insulting. After all the time, money, and energy I spent here, I was treated like a con artist.

This isn’t just about $75. It’s about respect. It’s about principle. If you sign up here, make sure you get every agreement in writing—because commitments that were noted on the account magically disappear, may mean nothing when the time comes.

Personal training team? Excellent.
Gym Management at this location? Deeply disappointing.

They need to open another location in St. Johns county for all those people who come here. Used to love coming to the gym, but its just teenagers running it, or working out without their shirts on and its just annoying. Rather just stay at home or keep driving to a bigger one...

This must be the ORIGINAL location in Jacksonville that has never even been thought of for upgrades.. you start with the parking lot that’s barely big enough for the baileys but is shared with multiple other businesses so even at 2 pm on a Thursday, there’s no where to park.. then you have to find the front door that looks like a back alley employees only entrance that has this tiny little box off to the side that you have to hold your barcode just right at about 4 inches below the arrow that points outwards but the scanner is directly below.. then move on to the fact that they only have 2 tanning beds, one stand up and one lay down, so you better pray it’s slow when you come in, which it won’t be because it’s always busy as other reviews state as well, and now I’m standing here trying to figure out how to tan with my shoes or socks on because of how disgusting this floor is right now.. let’s just say I’m glad I pass 2 other baileys on the way home from work so I will never be back to this one

Baileys reeks of bad faith. I canceled my membership December 4, 2024, seven days before the next billing cycle. They silently piled on $178 in charges, then dumped it on collections (Aldous & Associates) by March 2025, despite knowing payment couldn’t process. This place is a nightmare when it comes to finances. They don’t care about customer service they just care about their $30 a month. Well they are burning bridges. I had a credit card on file which has never been overdrawn was a member for three years. Being a truck driver, I Asked to cancel, followed all their cancellation instructions. Fast forward a year later a collection agency is calling me telling me I did not pay my final three months I I’ve never not paid my bills. I never got a courtesy call from them. I called and spoke to a manager who said she was going to help me. Never got a call back and the collection agency is still calling me. Shame on you Bailey’s gym did not know you were that starving for money.

Good gym. However, I signed up for the package for access to multiple locations. I never read the paperwork. I just assumed the guy that signed me up did it correctly.

So months later, I told my friend about the gym and he signed up at the other location that has a court. I tried to go shoot hoops with him and noticed I could not access the gym. I went the next day to find out why. Turns out I was signed up for the basic package which only allows access to the gym I signed up at in Mandarin.

So they said there was nothing I could do and they gave me the corporate number to call. When I called, I was told there was nothing that could be done except I sign a new contract.

I did not want to extend my contract, I just wanted to correct my current contract going forward. So, it was frustrating but I guess that is their business model.

I am a very rational and non judgemental person and like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I did exactly what you have recommended in your response. If you actually read my initial review, you would see that. I went to your front desk twice actually; the location with the basketball court and the location I signed up at (Mandarin). I also called corporate.
I do not want to signal new contract since I become a month to month member soon. I don't like contracts of any kind. Since it was your gym's error for not signing me up correctly, I don't see why I should have to sign a new contract. So I will just leave things as they are. My contract period ends in a few months.

Went to the gym with the 5-6am crowd almost every day since August 2020. Only left due to moving away. They keep up on the maintenance of equipment and turnaround the equipment repairs fast. They need another squat rack (get rid of the hack squat machine that is rarely used) as many of us had to wait or substitute an exercise for the rack (there really is no substitute for a squat rack). Locker rooms and bath rooms were kept relatively clean. Good facility and friendly staff. Enjoyed my time there and was sorry to have to say good-bye.

In my particular gym it’s the feeling of being at home, it may be the smaller of the facilities but it’s comfortable. The staff is amazing, the members are super helpful as well, it’s why I drive to this location on San Jose and Loretto when there is one by my house. I have been a member for about 20 years as the gym has changed locations a few times. The equipment is getting a little dated the last year it has been way to crowed. Everybody stands around in groups and either talks while doing a full pose like they're on stage at a competition or making a tiktok video. There is no etiquette with the younger crowd. The language is terrible. Earlier times its great.

Baileys Corporate strategy involves charging late fees without notifying the customer via email that there is an issue with the payment method on file. They do this so they can charge late fees regardless of the reason the payment didn't go through. They also don't allow minors to be on the same account (even though the payment method is the same) with their parents so that they can charge an additional late fee without warning. Baileys customer service policy is a disgrace and their motive is simply to fleece unaware club members. All they care about is the bottom line as opposed to caring about the members.

I went in there this morning psed off and I yelled at the front desk cuz I thought my trainer was late... I was in full ahlole mode u feel me?

But he wasn't late...

Then he led me through a phenomenal workout.

Also this workout was tailored to my body which has 2 surgeries recovering from a motorcycle accident.

I had absolute TRASH PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AT MEMORIAL HOSPTIAL...

... so I did not expect much from this Shawn guy but wow I was impressed. His level of awareness of my physical limitations was like that of the best physical therapist I ever met (Malcom at Harts Harbor rehab). So i give him as a trainer 5 star. Plus he put up with my attitude.

So I give 5 star 🌟🤩✨️😍 I appilogized. Yes I do test from ageless men's health too 🫠 so that does make me crazy but I really do like you guys alot!

Soo I’ll have to admit the pinkish name Bailey’s kept me from joining or looking at this gym seriously for a while, thinking it was going to be a lot of machines and another judgement free style gym where people go so they can think they worked out. Wrong! This places has more equipment and free weights than any other place in town. You can work out for a month and still not use every piece of equipment and also learn to work new muscle groups. This place is stocked for beginners and experts alike. If you feel intimidated about joining a gym I recommend signing up for their personal trainer program, it’s not overly expensive and will keep you committed to making gains.

I like it here I want to give 5 stars, but the stretch room needs a vacuum and a shampoo in the worst way. There have been what looks to be two toe nail clippings on the four for 4 weeks now. The stretch room floor feels wet and grimy. The mats need replaced as well. The staff is friendly. The gym is well equipped, but for someone who likes to spend a lot of time in that room specifically, not so much. Would definitely be worth giving 5 stars if those is were addressed

At first look this gym seems great. It’s 24 hours a day, reasonably priced, the staff is friendly and it is centrally located in mandarin. This gym has so much potential, but due to high traffic and dated equipment there is rarely I day I go that at least one machine isn’t posted. With a lack of options in the area (just one anytime fitness which lacks a wide variety of machines) this is your best bet in the mandarin area, but basically by default, which also makes it pretty crowded even at non peak hours.

Today I found 4 machines that were “out of order”, 2 leg curls, 1 assisted dip machine and 1 delt/chest fly which prompted me to write this review. There are other machines that just have their “quirks” too, like a lat pull down that doesn’t work on the 121lb selector. A plate loaded chest press that you can’t get the left and right handles to be the same depth no matter how you adjust them. They don’t oil any of the bars or plate holders, so putting on and taking off weights can be annoying to say the least. It is a lot of little things this location could easily do better that built up over my last two years going here that have finally bothered me enough to leave a review.

A few months ago, Bailey’s was closing a location and instead of moving the newer equipment (seemed logical to me, but maybe not practical) from that location to mandarin, they sold them all to the public.
Compared to the other new locations, this one doesn’t even seem like it is owned by the same ownership. Bailey’s can clearly do better (proof is in their newer locations) but chooses not to here at the mandarin location, for whatever reason.

I have been a member at quite a few gyms as I moved around Jax (planet fitness 👎, “the gym” when it had previous owners 👎, anytime fitness beach Blvd by FSCJ = meh, Florida Extreme fitness 👍👍👍👍, and now baileys mandarin) if baileys mandarin could get better quality equipment that doesn’t break so often it would make a world of difference.

The good...the on-site staff is friendly and helpful, plenty of good equipment, lots of space. The not so good...corporate customer service is poor. I had a concern and called the corporate office...no answer so I left a message. I also sent an email detailing my concern. I received no response to the phone call or the email. Visited with a friend. Gym is spacious and the CrossFit area (addtl. monthly fee) is amazing. Fancy amenities, sauna, showers, etc. Equipment was in great shape.

Whenever I’m in Jacksonville and need to workout this or 103rd are my go too. Prefer this one because it’s less crowded during the day. Plenty of space wide selection of free weights and machines.

It's a great gym that I wish I could give 5 stars. However it would be nice if staff helped a bit with crowding. We can barely access machines because people are taking up the space simply chatting. It's great to workout with friends, but being able to actually workout would be great for the rest of us. I only come to this location for my personal trainer because she's amazing. But, we go to a different Bailey's when my husband and I want to workout together.

Great staff and a great gym. I left Planet Fitness and joined Bailey's to train for my upcoming fight against my dad to see if he continues to be the leader of our family. I believe Bailey's has given me the tools I need to destroy my Dad who runs a gang out of Planet Fitness (They help remove people that are too loud when they workout). Pro tip - I bought a Bailey's shirt two weeks ago and my bench went up by 35lbs. Coincidence? I don't think so.
