Came over from the alligator spots gym close by, great when it the old name but that locker room needs to get rebuilt. So many people just leave their stuff with no lock in there that i can’t even find a free one. Got all the equipment at home, just need the sauna. Thank god i did month to month and payed for that upfront. If not it would’ve been a mess.

LOVE this gym! The staff is great also, but SHOUTOUT to Aaliyah for being the best! She is always to helpful, kind and hard-working every time I see her :) If she hasn't already, THIS GIRL NEEDS A RAISE! Bless her. Thank you Aaliyah :)

I absolutely love this gym. High ceilings open space the most importantly, be kind and helpful team at this gym especially Aaliyah. Aaliyah is the absolute best. I’ve been coming this chuze Fitness since we moved to Saint Augustine and Aaliyah has always been so helpful present in helping us with the machines. She’s always moving around the gym cleaning helping members & making us the BEST protein shakes. I don’t know if she’s a manager, but she should be one if not. She’s a hard-working employee that makes it that much better being a member at the gym. She’s actually one of the reasons we joined. If I could give her 10 stars I would.

After canceling the membership in person they continue to charge you and invent reasons why they cannot cancel your membership. This is not a gym but a financial scheme to rob honest people.

The beginning of chuze taking over was a bit messy, but after today's interaction, I have absolutely nothing bad to say. The workers are absolutely amazing, and I know that I can trust them with not only my children, but to professionally handle things when problems arise. I'm just so truly thankful for the support of the staff here.

Easy to get in a workout in reasonable time...enough variety of equipment to meet my needs. The place seems clean, there is a crew cleaning all the time...staff has always been friendly to us. The equipment is well organized and on the few times something is broken, I find it's repaired quickly and back in service...

Aaliyah and Max at the front desk are the most delightful staff members I've met at any gym. I'm sure the others are great as well, I just usually see those two when I go in the mornings.

The gym is always very clean, and now that refurbishing is over, very well laid out. I can't speak for most of the amenities as I don't use them, but the bathroom is clean, the hairdryers are functional, and everyone seems happy to be there. Zumba is always a blast as well.

I use my brother's buddy pass, so we both get pretty good value from his membership, considering it's two for the price of one, essentially.

Very disappointed. I pay the highest membership to have access to kids club. This location always have issues with the pluming, (bathroom) which mine uses Diper. Been turned away multiple times because of this issue. They should start making better accommodations to accept at least kids that don't require bathroom. Besides in school year bigger kids should be at school. Hate to drive 30 minutes to this location just be turned away. 0 communication. If I am going to be charge that much. At least provide with better service.

All the equipment hasn't been adjusted or lubricated or maintained, out of service signs on multiple pieces. This location makes plenty of money, this is just unacceptable. Just because something functions by moving from point A to B does not mean it is OK. Need to contract out a specialist or since this location is extremely profitable, just replace all of it, so the equipment doesnt sound like a 1930s elevator. Really not that hard to replace the pulleys and cables or simply re-tension the equipment

I’m not one to normally leave reviews good or bad But I do want to leave a great review for this gym. I’ve worked in the fitness industry for the last six years as a general manager, so my standards for gyms are high. I’m visiting in town and used a week pass, the staff has been absolutely amazing. The front desk, team and I believe a girl on the maintenance team greeted me each day with such bubbly welcoming energy. Today I struggled to get in here and the moment I walked in the girl at the front with a vacuum backpack greeted me with the biggest smile and cheer. It chatted with one of the trainers or fitness managers for a moment and well yesterday as well and he was also very kind.

The gym has great space and a variety of equipment whether you are focused on more of a functional workout or more a traditional strength training style. The Fit Lab was a great touch as well! Love the vibes and colors.

The only down fall I see about this gym is that it seems to be in its infancy and now when I travel back down south I won’t have this place to go to. Look forward to seeing Chūze Fitness popping up more in FL. Big improvement from the dated, boring beige Baileys that used to be here.

I'm really disappointed with the new company that's taken over my favorite local spot. As a long-time member, I've seen it go from a fun and welcoming place to a total letdown. I was expecting them to upgrade the old equipment, but it's still the same outdated stuff that's always breaking down. It's like they're not even trying to make it a nice place to hang out anymore. The equipment is not only old, it's a hot mess. I think they should look into getting some new, modern equipment that's actually reliable. That would go a long way in making the location feel more inviting. New bars benches. it's time to upgrade.

I've been a member of this gym since it was Bailey's. I used to love it. Bailey's was very clean back then and not too crowded. Now, since ownership changed to Chūze I don't love it anymore. The floors are always dirty durring the day, disinfecting towlets all over the floor, gym bags out on the floors, missing components to the cabel machines, no more paper towels to dry the equipment, staff doesnt seem very knowledgeable, insanely crowded. There are some cool added amenities like the compression chairs, massage gun, infrared sauna which i find enjoyable. But when they moved around the equipment some key things were removed from the main floor which allowed me to sub on my workout when other equipment was used. All of the elypticals are consistently dirty where your feet go and thats pretty gross considering the same dirty spill stain has been there for months. I did mention these things to staff and it doesnt seem like they cared too much about it.

Went to workout today and found that the gym is closed for 24 hrs for maintenance? Why would they decide to close on a busy weekday, and it's a huge facility? Could they not at least keep certain sections open? I have been a member of other gyms and they found a way to stay open even if certain sections were closed. To make it worse this is the second time in a month that I have found them closed.

I’ve been a member of this gym for more than five years. Bailey’s was the former owner. I came to workout today and seven machines were broken and out of order. Many of these machines were broken last week as well. This gym gets very crowded at times and waiting for another member to finish is frustrating when we are all competing to use a machine. Having seven broken machines exacerbates the problem. If these problems are not rectified soon, I’ll be looking for a new gym.

I've never been so disappointed in a gym.

1. The gym has been closed since yesterday (6/15/25) due to plumbing issues. The sign on the door says to check your email for updates. BUT there were no emails sent notifying us of the initial closure or that the gym continues to be closed through another day. There is also no information regarding the closure on any of Chuze's Facebook pages. I've attempted to call the gym several times this morning, but there have been no answers and their voicemail box is full. I found out that they are still closed by reading the new reviews stating so today. Making your paying customers drive to the facility just to find out you're randomly closed on a Monday morning is shameful. This is not the first time they have handled random, sudden closures poorly.

2. Equipment is always broken and takes excessively long to be repaired. It seems that no matter what I'm working out on any given day, my plan is thrown off by a "this machine pulled a hammy" sign. Most machines are old and outdated and don't appear to have been routinely serviced throughout their lifetimes. But at least there's an entirely new paint job, logo, and gym layout we can admire while waiting our turn for the machines that do work. No idea why they would prioritize gym cosmetics over better functioning equipment in the first phase of renovations - all gym goers would much rather have more reliable equipment first and foremost.

3. There was a sudden change out of staff recently. A number of trainers who would be there during my normal workout times are no longer there. Friends that take advantage of the fitness classes have also told me that there was an issue raised about the mistreatment of women's and minors' privacy, which was ignored and likely the cause for several staff members to leave. That said, some fitness classes that members were drawn to when entering the contract are no longer available.

All of this, paired with the clear decline in customer satisfaction, tells you everything you need to know about how Chuze conducts their business.

At some point in the last year, my card expired and I did not think to reach out to Bailey’s about updating it. Being that I had not been in the gym for nine months. Bailey’s rather than reaching out to me to update payment information, Sent me to collections with a law office. Worst customer service possible at this gym. Progress I think not. Once again Corporate America has ruined a local business just so individuals and their cares and concerns could be ignored. What was once a family gym with something for everyone has been reduced to a Corporate Monolith. If you like being told how you should work out by having popular equipment and multipurpose areas removed or “phased out”. Then join Chuze they will treat you like every other Big Corporate Gym. Separate rooms with separate access for different classes of gym members . I get it restrict members movement so they want to pay more to enjoy the full experience. No Thank You, this is still a health club in the United States of America.

This place has gone downhill since it was Bailey's.
They may have given it a facelift but it stinks.

The staff used to know you and it felt like a family-run business. Now it's just a bunch of young dudes who think their job is to say no to every request you have.

They removed much of the functional workout gear and the punching bags.

It's now a standard gym with no soul.

It's generally harder to get on machines because it's more crowded.

Basically they made it into a glorified planet fitness.

I will not be renewing my membership.

This place was taken over by a California corporation they don't understand Florida.
The new staff pretend to be nice with their greetings but are actually rude when it comes to customer service.

They have drastically reduced prices which may seem good at first but the gym is three times as crowded as it ever was. The new members and staff aren't putting their weights away like they did when it was Bailey's.

I utilize a key card for access. I forgot it one day, one of the Bailey's employees was checking me in. Then I was aggressively approached and told by Ryan, allegedly a manager, that I could not be manually checked in because now they have an app and I MUST use it. I don't have the ability to have the app nor do I want one. I have never missed a payment and they have my picture on file. So why the app insistence?

Then I said cancel my membership and I'll continue to come and use my key card until that no longer works or for the reminder of my contract. Rather than de-escalate, Ryan says he will cancel my membership immediately and did so in front of multiple witnesses.

So let me get this straight, you can cancel my year-long contract but you can't check me in manually? Seems like a good business strategy?! Or is the app monetized and they are gathering and selling your data??

Furthermore I tried to contact corporate customer service via email and via phone and they have not gotten back to me.

What is wrong with this place and these new people that work there?

I pay a $38 monthly membership as well as my friend. One night we went to the gym together, and her card was not working due to CHUZE FITNESS (Also known as Baileys Gym) giving her a messed up card on their end. So, I got her in as we literally both PAY to workout here. Today, Chuze Fitness sends me a email charging me $10. When I call, explaining we are members and the situation and even offering to give both of our information to prove we are members, I am told this happens all the time to their members and the charge cannot be waived. Even the employee Brad I had spoken too told me how he understands why I am annoyed multiple times but it’s policy. It is so wrong that Chuze Fitness is taking their members money from a problem THEY caused and not even offering to reimburse. I can’t imagine how many other people they’ve done this to….

what an AWFUL experience with management. two days ago i purchased a premium membership in club and when i returned two days later my keycard for access to all facilities was not working. upon arrival today an employee told me “i’m not sure why you’re keycard is not working, all i could say is to get the app”. Once i downloaded the app, it didn’t recognize any of my information and would not allow me to log in. while i understand chuze wants to use the app and start moving away from the keycards but it is an issue that i cannot gain any access in anyway at all while paying for premium membership. the employee buzzed me into the gym but on the way out i knew i would have to get this handled as i plan to take advantage of their 24 hour options. I first spoke to another employee who couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working which honestly isn’t an issue but one of the managers Tristin tried to aid me. Not only could she not identify what even was the issue, she continuously talked over me and offered no solutions other than “waiting an hour to see if it works”. apparently the keycard takes 24 hours to work but it has already been over 50 hours since i registered in the club. I kept trying to explain this to her but was only met with rude replies about “what the computer says”. For such a beautiful new gym the staff is absolutely terrible, i’m not here to judge new employees but the manager Tristin provided the WORST customer service i’ve ever received. and all of this still isn’t resolved :/

Loved this gym prior to the Chuze acquisition. Since then, it’s underwent a slow and disappointing descent to a far cry of what it was. The renovation was quite underwhelming, no new benches or machinery that’s commonly utilized. To make matters worse, they appear to have permanently discontinued the use of vehicle key compartment boxes and, approximately a month ago, changed the music from classic rock (which nobody complained about) to dreadful pop/hip hop music that many would consider inappropriate for family audiences. Many of my fellow gym-goers share the same sentiments. Chuze should get familiarized with their demographics first, not every Chuze location is the same. After approximately 8 years of being a member, I plan on canceling my membership.

Love the new upgrades, but the smoothies could use some work. I'm not sure what it is, but they're either putting in too much ice or not enough puree (or not water down the puree). It also comes out way too thick or lacking flavor.

I have experience making these smoothies and I know if you follow the instructions exactly, the smoothie doesn't come out right.

I asked if I needed a barcode to access it, and she said no, just my phone number.

Now, as I try to log in, it’s asking for a barcode, meaning I have to return and wait in line again. If you’re transitioning to a new system, please ensure employees are fully trained to provide accurate assistance to customers.

Relatively well equipped gym. Adequate but was open during renovations which was both good and bad. Difficult to navigate the changing landscape but I was able to get a few decent workouts in and the facility offered a no fuss trial membership which was very refreshing since I was visiting from out of town. Didn't have to pay at all and I thought that was super cool. Once the reno is done I am sure it will be a very solid place to get your fitness in check. The only real issue I had was that it was very heavy on cable and pin in plate machines and I would have liked to have seen more hammer/Olympic plate load machines for back and chest, but I'm realy splitting hairs over that.

I’ve been a member at baileys for over 2 years now. I understand there is construction and a remodel. However, for the past 2-3 weeks 5 treadmills have been down, and 3-4 of the 7 stair masters have been down. Before chuze took over, machines were never down this long, if ever. On top of this, I was paying for a higher “premium” tier membership for the access to the training room in the back, which is now open to everyone.that being said, I feel like I am paying more than most others for the same benefits. Sad to see a good gym sellout to a chain. Once summer gets here I will be cancelling, and I would highly consider going elsewhere for a gym.

Zero stars. See below for a copy of my email to the Florida department of health. This isn't cool, guys. People using your gym are being put in all kinds of danger they don't know about. They're trusting you and you're blowing it.
------
Hi I just left Bailey's Fitness on US-1 in Saint Augustine.

Last time I went there, they were still doing construction while open for business with dust only partially separated from the workout areas.

I went back today,.thinking I knew what to expect, but the entire gym reeked of VOCs and petroleum distillates. It smelled like they'd mopped gasoline or rubber cement all over the floor in one of the rooms and let it permeate the gym with no dedicated exhaust ventilation. There's NO WAY it's safe to be in there. None of the employees are wearing respirators and there are people on treadmills within 20' of the work zone that is full of VOCs.

Please let me know if you can do anything about this, and/or forward on to OSHA for further review.

I purchased a day pass while on vacation in St. Augustine - the gym has great equipment but the front desk staff have a bad, un-accommodating attitude. I'm thankful that I'm only here for a week because I would never have an annual membership at a place with employees like Bailey's. Thought it was possible that I had a one-off experience but reading other reviews it seems this is pretty typical.

So being born and raised in Saint Augustine I’ve been going to baileys for quite some time now. At one point in time this gym was a very very good gym and I highly recommended it to a lot of people, however over the last few months the gym has had a drastic decline in performance. Since Chuze has taken over the gyms cleanliness has plummeted, the employees clean the gym at the busiest times of the days so of course that slows your workouts and makes it inconvenient at times. Now I do understand some renovations are being done but when it is going on all day and it’s to the point where it is so loud that I can’t even hear my own music in my headphones is a little much. Now due to the construction parts of the gym that have equipment are being roped off not allowing customers to use that equipment. Also the gym is flooded with young kids using equipment and just leaving all the weight on the machines and not even taking it off once they are completed with their sets. The men’s bathrooms are constantly dirty with paper towels strung everywhere all over the floor and I’ve lost track of the amount of times that I’ve gone to use the bathroom and all the toilets are disabled until further notice. I’ve gone to a lot of gyms in my day and in my personal opinion the only reason baileys stays afloat at this point is because of it being the biggest gym in Saint Augustine. If a crunch fitness, L.A fitness or golds gym were to open up baileys would lose a lot of business quickly.

Horrible. Startled by the employees. They don't inform you well. I went to cancel my membership. The person who attended me told me that everything was fine now and it turns out that they sent me to collection. I spoke with the gym manager. I explained my problem to her and she was very rude. Not like the manager of the place. She didn't even let me speak. Horrible experience. What a rude person

I went there earlier this year and the water in the shower was cold. I had to use the old truck I was told where you turn on another shower at he same time and it worked. Water was warm for a little bit. It's just a shame since it is a waste of water since nobody's in the other shower. Also, anyone know why the gym is no longer twenty four hours anymore?

I'm from Oregon and recently visited this gym for the week. I was unable to find a decent day pass anywhere. While the day pass is $10 here it's so worth it and the staff here certainly make it worth it. Destiny in particular was super helpful and nice. I came to the gym while it was closing for the staff and she still allowed me to come in. She was working her butt off so I'm sure she was exhausted but she still treated me with professionalism and kindness. Great gym overall!

I actually love the gym and the people, but I needed to drop a complaint in here before Chüze comes in and starts renovating… the locker rooms suck. Every time I open the bottom locker the top locker door smacks me in the face. I think those goofy ottoman seat thingies are way too big. Also, there’s no standing mirrors(?). What gym locker room doesn’t have a full sized mirror? My normal gym bag doesn’t fit in the locker itself without me stuffing it in. I could go on and on. Chüze ~ please~ redo the locker rooms while renovating

I'd say more of a 4.5 but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They have everything you need here and they give you a free 2-week trial on their website. Definitely take advantage of that first. The Downside it's they have multiple price options which means in order to use their whole gym you need to pay more. This is just a gimmick to upcharge from the very beginning. It's just not a good look.

I've been coming here for a couple years. They fired the main janitor who was freaking awesome and hard working because he can't read, and now the place is filthy all the time. The mirrors are dirty, the bathrooms are dirty, the workout rooms are littered, dust bunnies everywhere, hair in the corners, left behind drink cans and paper towels on the floor. I won't even use the sauna anymore because I'm afraid that it's never cleaned. There's been a giant male toenail in the corner for 2 weeks. When speaking to new management about the issue, they seem to get upset and blow you off. It really is a shame.

I loved this gym when I first signed up, but it is becoming a horrible place now. I come here specifically because they offer childcare. They are the only gym around that does so you pay the premium price for that. Lately however it is a toss up if someone is actually gonna be working in that area or not. I have been turned away several times due to them having no staff. If you ask the man at the front desk how the situation will be rectified he will be extremely smug and pretend there is no problem. This gym does not care that you have wasted time, gas and money on a membership you may or may not get to actually use.
Edit: I am updating my review to be 4 stars. I am noticing good changesto the childcare area. They have hired several new employees and are staffing properly. I have not been turned away due to lack of employees in several weeks.

It’s very apparent since Chuze took over the maintenance and housekeeping has really slipped. Under Bailey’s ownership it was always well maintained and clean. Not so much now.
I’ve been a member for over three years.

Down grading my review to 2 stars, no improvement in housekeeping.

Been coming for 3 yrs. Gym is great, but since they changed mgmt the bathroom is nasty and childcare workers are overworked and understaffed.

It seems like they fired their best guy who worked mornings. Would recommend adding some more childcare staff so they aren’t stressed and moms aren’t pissed.

Would also recommend emptying trash cans more regularly and checking on toilets because it’s 50/50 if they are clogged with pre workout aftermath.

Gym equipment is fire tho.

★ 1

Terrible customer service. I would never go back!
I was a member of Bally's years ago in New York. Now while visiting in Florida I decided to give it another chance cuz they were giving a 7-day pass so I wanted to try it again...
Went to the one in Jacksonville old equipment but the girl at the desk was nice she said yes 7-Day pass is good for anywhere at any of the ballies. No problem. You're in the computer. Went to St. Augustine the next day went to the gym, showed my 7-Day pass. The woman didn't even want to see it. She said well, you're not in the computer. I said here's a 7-day pass. It's right here. And I use the word woman loosely this was really a 20-year-old millennial snarky lazy kid, not an adult woman) but she did have two other people behind the desk with her, a grown man and a grown woman....
I said here's the pass right on my phone. You can see it if you just raise your eyes. She said well, you're not in the computer and since you're traveling and don't have a local ID, I can't honor it. Then in her continued snarky way, she then said well I guess as a one-time courtesy, I'll do you the favor.
Well you can stop right there!
I basically kind of said "look you're not doing me a favor at all. There are plenty of gyms around here. I'm doing you the favor of thinking if I should join your gym or not." I come from a world where I'm the customer. I'm paying you. You're not doing me a favor by giving me a hard time in honoring your 7-Day pass. I didn't have an attitude. I wasn't snarky or condescending, but you don't make me feel like I'm begging you to come into your gym after you put me through a series of questions that make me feel like I'm breaking into your place. I kindly said no thank you. I don't like the vibe here. I'll find another gym which I did. I went to the AMP gym in St. Augustine. Best gym fantastic people hardcore old school stuff! Another example of when it's not working out it actually is working out. So I thank Bally's for being such a screw-up that it led me to a better gym....
If that's not enough to convince you not to go there as soon as I left Bally's gym I emailed corporate and that was 4 days ago and still have not heard back. So basically it tells me it's just a mill that wants your money and they don't put the customer first. Your choice but I would skip it in a heartbeat especially with all the other gyms around

I enjoy going here a lot. The gym is very clean and well maintained. It’s in a good location, and the 24 hour access is nice. There’s a wide variety of equipment and it’s a good size gym. From my experience even during peak hours it’s still possible to get a workout done without interfering with someone else.

It’s nice they offer classes as well, and the member perks are actually pretty nice and worth it. I’ve tried other gyms before and this is the only one that I’ve actually continued to go to regularly.

My only complaint would be that among the vast variety of equipment there are no ankle weights (at least that I’ve found yet)- and for that being the only issue I’m very satisfied

It's still early. Only my second gym visit...
So far, it's just okay.
The ambiance is good.
The price
There are 3 plans.
Basic plus monthly dues is 24 + registration fee 129+ annual enhancements fee per year 39.
Platinum is 35+99+29.
Platinum plus 49+99+19.
There are family add on discount and build your own plan. ...
Take note of the hydro massage not being unlimited. You can only use it once a day, which is totally a bummer, unlike at P gym, which is really unlimited. And until front desk hours only. ...
Equipments I think it's good for weightlifting people. They have many classes. Indoor Basketball court just seen it.
Sauna was great. The tan section has 2-3 rooms. I haven't tried and am not interested. The hydro massage, as I said , is a bummer. Only once day and needs front desk to be able to use it which means 9pm I think. ...
The lockers and showers room seems basic clean. ...
The service is good...
Let's see after some time if still the same . ...

This review is mainly for Sweat PT. Baileys is great too and their staff is so darn sweet and they always say hi and they're ready to help. Very professional. Destiny makes me the best smoothies and is so patient when I don't know which one I want and she is very easy to ask to change a thing or 2. I appreciate you girl!

Sweat PT is amazing. If you're thinking about trying personal training, give them a try. Nate, sorry forgot your title I think he is the Director here and a couple other locations. Incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to go through all my questions and really helpful and nice guy. I've had other questions and he really took the time to give me great information. He matched me perfectly with my trainer Steve. But he had back ups in case it didn't work out.

Steve knows what he is doing. I'm so impressed. He is the best trainer I've ever had in maybe 20 plus years of hiring trainers. He is so patient and makes sure I'm doing the move correctly, and I notice a huge difference. I wanted to lift heavy, and he goes well sure we can but you wanna try what I'm gonna come up with for you. That's right he actually creates a personal program for you! Not some template workout. And he challenges me but also is helping me with my weak areas. He remembers your injuries and notes. This man is very good. At the end of a set he noticed my ROM was struggling and he gave me the option to do an ROM workout or continue. I gladly chose the ROM.
I was sick today and missed my session, I told him to charge me but because he actually cares, he will try to accommodate you to change the session. He cares and it shows. I'm so excited to work with him. Even if I give him grimacing looks because he makes me do hard things lol. Really happy with this choice, and there's alot of motivation here. Other members are nice too. Lots of equipment and options. You'll find everything you need here.

This gym could be so much better. (I have only used the St Augustine facility)

Pros:
Clean, open all day, good parking, moderately expensive.

Cons:
Lousy music played way to loud. You will need very expensive noise cancelling headphones. Why play music when most people don't listen to it or like it? They never play classic rock, country, oldies, or even jazz. It is all music for "urban" teens, which is weird, because the average age there is about 60.

The air conditioning is terrible, unless you pay extra for a special exercise room. The front office is cooler than the gym......go figure!

They do not maintain the equipment. They let it wear out or break, risking injury to the customer.

They do not enforce any rules. They allow the muscle beach meat heads to reserve multiple pieces of equipment so they can "superset". Not good when it is crowded, which is most of the time.

Bottom line...... This gym is very similar to PLANET FITNES, which costs about half as much. I joined Bailey's because they had better air conditioning, but now the Bailey's AC is worse. I will be leaving Bailey's at month end.
