Wonderful experience and practice with Lisa at Community Wellness and Yoga on Amelia Island. We’ve been back twice now after originally finding the studio when it first opened. Always look forward to it when visiting Amelia. I’m a yoga teacher and love the Iyengar approach and Lisa’s facilitation and compassion. Always learn something new. 🙏

Every community needs a studio like this. Lisa is at once a consummate pro and an open hearted yogi. Made me feel like part of the family the day I walked in and encouraged me to challenge my body and soul with strength and ease.

Went as a first timer today. Class was very kind about my rookie mistakes and Lisa, the teacher, was as helpful as I needed. I'll be back.

I am so happy that my daughter talked to me about this alternative to help with the back pain that I've been in Pain Management for over 20 years. I appreciate the personal help of getting in the correct positions. I felt so much better leaving than what I felt coming in. Looking forward to next weekend. Thank you, Lisa! You are awesome and really care about your students!

I had practiced yoga in several states for years before we moved to Florida , and enrolled in the Community Yoga Fernandina beginner 8 week course as a refresher. In comparison, so much of my past yoga teaching was rather “made up”. This studio Community Yoga. and Igengar yoga is the real deal. This yoga practice builds inner and outer strength and incredible flexibility in many amazing ways. A loving, precise and precious teacher is Lisa, who explains and works with each and every student to inform and instruct. Your mind and body will thank you after every class. Community yoga is a local treasure. Whether you are a resident, new to the area, new to yoga, or here on vacation in our sweet corner of the world, give this studio your time and attention. There is nothing comparable in our region.

I have tried yoga before only to feel clumsy and incompetent. I am so glad I found Community Yoga. The attitude is welcoming and embracing. The instruction is professional and patient, and the method ensures you are doing things correctly for your ability.
Lisa Waas, the owner and one of the teachers, has an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and can work with you to address concerns and problem areas.
I am at the beginning of my practice, but I have learned you’re never too old to improve your mental and physical health. This is truly a life changing experience for me! I hope you check it out!!

I teach at Community Yoga + Wellness, via Zoom, and feel privileged to do so: the owner, LIsa Waas, is supportive and communicative. I am also a regular student, because of the wide variety of classes offered online (hey, not all of us live in beautiful Fernandina), and because of the exceptional quality and depth of Lisa's instruction. I have taken advantage of her Level 2 classes, which challenge me, as well as her therapeutic-style courses (e.g. Healing Back, Healing Knee is upcoming), which help keep my aging joints in good working condition - as well as helping me become a more knowledgeable teacher. Although I now live far away and must participate mostly online, I've been to the studio many times. It's spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Wish I lived closer!

Community Yoga + Wellness is based in Florida, but it is available to anyone willing to use Zoom, via the variety of classes offered online. The owner, Lisa Waas, is an exceptionally qualified teacher. She offers fun, challenging classes. For those of us with conditions or limitations or the usual accumulation of injuries, there are also several therapeutic-style courses - for example, Healing Back, Healing Knee - as well as Gentle and Healthy Aging classes. If you are interested but have never tried yoga before, watch for Lisa’s Beginner series, offered periodically. There’s something for everyone!

Wonderful studio even better teachers—Community Yoga and Wellness on Amelia Island is the perfect place to practice yoga! The studio is immaculate and stocked with all the props one needs to practice even the most challenging poses. The teachers are knowledgeable and compassionate taking every student safely and deeper into the poses. The other students are friendly and welcoming. Whether you are on vacation or live nearby go and check it out, and after you do when you are a total addict and cannot get to the studio, take an online class. You will be happy you did.

Lisa Waas is a fabulous teacher. I attend the Gentle Class and the Healing class. She knows just the right props to use and she walks around and makes sure we are all doing the pose correctly. I have a neuro-muscular condition (Charcut-Marie-Tooth syndrome) but since starting 7 months ago I already see positive results in my balance and strength.

The yoga experience at this studio is fabulous- Lisa has such a vast knowledge and expertise of the moves and body that she teaches to us every class. We learn how each pose helps us and why we do it along with getting our energy healthy. She is the most loving and helpful instructor- and we laugh and have fun!

This review pertains to Lisa's classes. I have been attending now for several years. In that time I have developed improved balance, better focus, greater body awareness and enough understanding of my body to develop adjustments that help with the occasional 'curve balls' thrown at me by my aging. I have been helped enormously with better knee health and increased flexibility in my shoulders. I have found this practice is much more palatable than physical therapy and for me, possibly more beneficial. I find Lisa to be the most knowledgeable yoga practitioner I have ever known, as well as being kind, patient, committed, compassionate and humorous. (I had been doing yoga for 15 years before coming to Community yoga) I like the wisdom behind the Iyengar method she follows and feel very safe under her direction. She always knows a way to suggest adjustments that reduce any occasional encounters with discomfort. The studio offers a fantastic array of classes that are accessible for all levels of ability. I completely recommend this studio.

I’ve been attending community yoga zoom classes since spring of 2020. Lisa is an amazing, professional, and very well trained. She is very knowledgeable in the iyengar style of yoga. Very disciplined and precise, and yet she brings her sense of humor and gentleness to the class, making it enjoyable and accessible for everyone. I recommend Lisa and community yoga and wellness to anyone interested in developing their Iyengar yoga practice online.

I first started coming to Community Yoga + Wellness after I moved to Amelia Island 5.5 years ago.
Lisa Waas the owner was the only teacher at the time. I had previously practiced Iyengar yoga for 10 years in California. Lisa has taught me more in the last several years than I ever imagined. She has developed my practice into a joy and has been patient enough to work with me through some very debilitating sports injuries.
Yoga is for everyone. Consider trying yoga and being taught by one of the most gifted teachers around. As a community we are lucky to have such a wonderful studio and all the talented teachers.

This yoga studio has saved me during the pandemic! I take the online Level 2 class with Lisa Waas (the owner of the studio) and have been consistently impressed with the high quality of the instruction, the variety, and the personal attention. She makes it fun, interesting, challenging and rich with the underlying philosophy. I much prefer in person classes but I've been amazed at how much I've improved in a zoom class! And that is all due to Lisa who has gently pushed me further than I ever thought I could go

I have been studying Iyengar Yoga with Lisa Wass for six years. In that time I have learned to appreciate so many things about Yoga, not the least of which is the attainment of inner peace and personal betterment through the practice of asana. I believe that Lisa’s outstanding teaching, commitment to the values and art at the very core of the discipline, is a primary example of what makes Community Yoga and Wellness a wonderful tribute to a tradition begun by BKS Iyengar. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who has ever thought of studying Yoga. You will not be disappointed.

My day snaps into place after a session at Community Yoga + Wellness. The owner and lead teacher Lisa Waas is dedicated to teaching the best Iyengar Yoga and many Healing workshops. Her trained eye and detailed instruction have helped me recover from joint replacements and then keep getting stronger. This studio brings together a rich diversity of yoga classes and talented teachers in the best-equipped studio in the Southeast. What a gift to our community.

I am so thankful I found the Community Yoga & Wellness Studio. I started with the healing back and knee classes and continued with gentle yoga classes after a knee replacement. Lisa is amazing! She pushes me out of my comfort zone and is constantly monitoring to suggest adjustments so I don’t hurt anything. I feel so much stronger and move better than I have in several years. Classes are safe, fun and have helped reduce my knee, back and hip pain. I always walk out feeling great!

Iyengar yoga with the instruction/guidance/support provided by Lisa Waas, CIYT Level 2, E-RYT 500hour at Community Yoga + Wellness (also owner/operator) has had such a profound positive impact on my health and well-being in the last three years...it is hard to explain. I can tell you about becoming more flexible (touching not only my toes, but hands to the floor)! I can mention better balance and coordination, or after having a back injury not having pain or stiffness within 3-4 weeks. Or even how I walk taller. I not only feel but know Iyengar yoga has become my means to aging gracefully, maintaining strength and vitality physically and mentally. Lisa is not only my guru, but a dedicated yogini who teaches all aspects of practice and personally strives to continually advance herself and her knowledge. She is currently studying for Level 3 certification and Certified Yoga Therapist. One last thought and by no means the least important is Lisa Wass has created “Community” not only for those in the yoga studio, but for every student who attends even on-line. She has practiced and has become adept at integrating “all the students” in attendance! The studio/classes are a safe space for learning and development with no pretenses. It has become and extension of home and Lisa and the “community” an extension of my family.

Friends and I all LOVE this yoga studio. Very professional instructors who strive to customize classes to meet the unique needs of each student. Clean and sanitized exceptionally well, which is so important. To top it off, reasonable rates and a user friendly online registration system! Highly recommended by this very particular student. 😁

Community Yoga is the best! Lisa is an excellent and experienced instructor and is very attuned to her clients’ needs. The space is attractive and comfortable. I signed up for a Gentle Yoga class while on vacation in Fernandina Beach, and I can say with confidence it is the best hour I have spent in quite a while! I can recommend Lisa and her studio enthusiastically!

I do basic yoga regularly, but I was gently challenged in Lisa's class. I really enjoyed how she personally coached everyone in the class and helped improve foundational posses. I also thought that the support features like the rope wall were fantastic.

One of the friendliest and most welcoming yoga studios I have walked into. The place was very well set up on the inside with all the equipment anyone could ever need. Both the staff and other patrons were a joy. Prices were also exceptionally reasonable. The whole place was also very unpretentious which may be hard to find depending on where you are from.

Lisa, the instructor is knowledgeable, caring, and fun. Been doing yoga for 35 years. Learned more in an hour and a half with her than I had in all that time. The atmosphere is welcoming and Serene. Everything yoga should be. Wish I lived in the area. I would be a regular
