I dropped in for the 5am class with Coach Sara — such a great experience! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The coaching was top-notch with clear instruction and personal feedback, and the workout was both challenging and fun. Perfect mix of intensity and community — highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

This is the most genuine place to workout if you live in the Tarpon area and want to get in shape. I came in for a few drop in classes and got my butt handed to me, but in the best way and I felt so welcomed. Coach Barbara is amazing. She helped push me when I was struggling towards the end of class more than a few times and was super engaged in helping everyone get the best workout! Coaches are so positive as well and want to keep pushing you to be better both in and out of the gym . Def will be back here when I visit. Thanks guys!

I joined for just one month and was amazed by how much I learned in such a short time. John creates a warm, welcoming environment, and Barbara is incredibly inspiring—her kindness, support, and encouragement truly stand out. I am so grateful for her and the inspiration she has been to me and many others!

As a person new to CrossFit, this gym met me where I was at. The classes were small, with very attentive coaches who prioritized safety and smart training.

I had the opportunity to drop in at this box while visiting from out of town and had the most wonderful experience. The people were friendly and so down to earth. The workout was easily scaled to meet the athletic levels of those participating in the WOD. I would 1000% suggest this location to anyone looking for a place to workout either as a regular homebase or if visiting from out of town. I will definitely drop back in the next time I’m in town!

Words can not describe how much I love this gym and team.

I committed to 6 months at this box and John and his team helped me find my strength and routine. PR after PR a team of coaches and other athletes were there to celebrate my wins. I started out as a person who would go to the traditional gyms and guess my workouts and xfit spongers has shaped me into a pro at the gym knowing exactly what to hit and how to hit it. If you have goals, ask the team for help to get there - whether its to lose weight, gain muscle or just get moving, they will tailor each workout to fit your needs. I was initially scared of crossfit style gyms after a toxic experience at another box, but this is like no other. Go crossfit spongers!!!

If you have ever wanted to try CrossFit, this is the gym for you. This is the nicest most welcoming group of members and coaches you will ever find at a CrossFit gym. Their goal is for you to get fit and healthy in the safest way possible. It’s small groups with 1-2 coaches and longtime members will even stop and help you to make sure your form is safe. This crossfit gym is for every fitness level and every ability as their expert coaches offer scalability for every movement and unlike other gyms, you will see results from consistently going to this gym. And if classes aren’t your thing right now, they offer affordable 1-1 personal training and even nutrition to help get you on your way. I’ve gone to many gyms including several CrossFit gyms and this one ranks as my all time favorite. The saying, “come in a stranger, leave a friend” is 100% true for this gym.

Great community and gym culture. CrossFit Spongers is really focused on individual growth, but does it in a great team and community spirit. Everyone here I've met really helps support each other and lift each other up. The coaches are great and help you grow, while also showing you technique or helping you scale to prevent injury. Yes, if you look you'll probably see some old reviews about Total Fitness or this location from people who don't "get it" about group gyms, who are looking for brand new facilities with all the bells and whistles and more exercise machines than you can count, all for $10 or something, but with no personalization or support. This isn't that. Just look elsewhere. It is true that you get what you pay for. You'll pay more at this (or any) CrossFit or HIIT gym, but there is a return on that: coaching, quality workouts, gains, community, support, accountability, and more. Just give them a try and find out for yourself what it is really all about.

I absolutely love this place and I highly recommend it to Everyone. It doesn't matter the fitness starting level, everyone is welcome and the coaches seems to be able to make everyone doing the best they can.
I also go there because the members are amazing, everyone is very nice and approachable.
Last but not least, all the coaches, especially Barbara and Sherrie are AMAZING! They are my motivation to get up very early in the morning and be there!
If you are looking for a great place and you want to achieve amazing results, you should try it.

I was never a “gym-person” and joined solely in an effort to help me with a fitness challenge I was doing with some friends. Through my time here (starting with absolutely no prior experience) I found a home and a wonderful group of people that I can’t see my life without. I’ve now been consistent with morning CrossFit for over 2 years and feel stronger and healthier than ever, and it’s fun! Every crazy CrossFit move you can imagine has a starting point or “modification” for those of us that might not be as experienced or even have certain injuries. Last year I herniated a disc in my back and through my healing process the coaches here worked with me every step of the way easing me back into workouts so that I didn’t injure myself or stunt my healing process. I can easily say that joining this gym with these coaches and classmates was one of the best decisions of my life.

Great equipment and great coaches. We visited from out of town both for a cf class and also for drop in. Would recommend for either. Lots of good machines, free weights, and cf racks/rings. Coaches Barbara and Ricky were knowledgeable and gave individualized tips even though they knew we were just visiting.

I visited family in Tarpon Springs for the week of Thanksgiving, and signed up for a week of classes at CrossFit Spongers. I attend a functional training gym at home that is similar to CrossFit, but this was my first time trying an official CrossFit gym. This place was amazing. The owner John was so helpful in getting me set up and helping me figure out the app, and the coaches were awesome. Coach Ricky really took the time to make sure I was using proper form and getting the most from my workout. Coach Barb really encouraged us to give our all. I felt very supported and very welcome.
Additionally, the members were the nicest people. Everyone introduced themselves on my first day and really made me feel welcome. They all felt like friends by the end of the week. The vibe in this gym is encouraging and inspiring. If you are looking for a supportive community where you can really push yourself and get strong, this is the place.
I look forward to my next visit to Tarpon Springs when I can drop in again and join this crew!

CrossFit Sponger is a great place to begin or take your fitness to the next level. I have been CrossFitting since 2014 and CF Sponger is my new home away from home. My gymnastics and lifts have improved by leaps and bounds because the coaches teach technique during class so all workouts are safe. They have all the extras, from the ski erg, rowers, GHDs, and an assault runner. Of course they have tons and tons of bumper plates.

If your starting your fitness journey, CrossFit Sponger is a must. The owner and head trainer is educated in sports psychology and has higher level certifications in CrossFit. The coaching staff are all great athletes that can modify any workout to your level.

I just completed my first month at CrossFit Spongers and I’m so excited about my progress this far. Coach Barbara and the 5 am class have been so encouraging and inspiring. Coach Barbara is an amazing coach and gives the best tips when teaching us the movements. I tore my meniscus 14 years ago (at another CrossFit gym) and elected not to have surgery. I thought my fitness journey was over but Coach Barbara and John have scaled my workouts perfectly to keep me injury free, while building strength, flexibility, and stamina. If you’re on the fence about trying this gym, I say do it now! It’s so amazing to feel strong again.

As a 65-year-old woman who spent the vast majority of my life overweight and sedentary, I would have never considered joining CrossFit, let alone a gym. Within the last five years I’ve shed 100 pounds and started walking every day. I was so proud to achieve 5 miles of walking in roughly 1:40:00, a solid 5 days a week. Unfortunately after about 7 months of walking at that pace, I suffered a “repetitive motion injury” as demonstrated by acute tendonitis in my right hamstring. A visit to the Orthopedic Specialist advised me to stop walking but supported the idea of my joining a gym to give me better overall conditioning. As Divine Intervention would have it, I connected with Barbara, a coach at CrossFit Spongers. The first class I participated in was nothing like I’d ever experienced before. Everyone was welcoming and encouraging. I’m still not sure I have ever worked so hard, sweated so much and had so much fun in the course of one hour and, having survived that first session, never felt so proud of myself. The 5am class has now become ritual.
I’ve been a member now for about 10 weeks, attending class 5 days a week. With the constant attention and cooperation of Coach Barbara and John Billiris (owner), I have been treated with respect as an individual and they have worked cooperatively and diligently to ensure I’m reaching my goals safely and effectively. Every single class ends with me catching my breath and wiping the sweat from my face. Am I getting results? I regularly converse with my body now (that’s a first!), my clothes are fitting entirely differently and my hamstring is healing. Next best is the feedback from folks who don’t see me regularly who notice big changes in my appearance as well as my attitude/outlook. But BEST OF ALL is unexpectedly finding that I was “brought into the fold” of a caring, age-diverse, supportive community.
You never know what you might be missing if you don’t try. Come check it out.

What really sold me on this facility was the 5 a.m. class—the only one offered in the area. Crossfit got me.
I've always worked out, but crossfit is organized, structured and programmed for you. Love showing up and just working out. Can't speak of any other crossfit gym, but 'CrossFit Spongers' in Tarpon Springs; as it's the only CrossFit gym I've been to. The people are amazing, the owner cares, and the workouts are phenomenal! And they work with you on diet!! What more can one ask for? Thankful for the techniques learned and the encouraging coaches. Thus far; I have learned how to rope climb, can almost do handstand walks and my squat form (depth) improved tremendously. Thank you CrossFit Spongers for your contribution to my fitness success and the contribution to society's success (keeping people healthy and out of doctor's offices). I have been a member for over 10 years. This is the best place in tarpon springs to work out take classes and train for whatever your goals are. I train for Ironman triathlons and use CrossFit for strength and flexibility conditioning. The owner is a local military man and is steadily making positive improvements to the equipment, class offerings and the ease of use of the facilities. He is extremely knowledgeable and willing to listen. If you have not been inside recently, you should check it out. The staff and coaches are friendly and helpful. It has a real family feel where everyone knows your name. As a small business owner I understand it takes a lot of sweat equity to run a business and make improvements at the same time. I am partial to the 6am crossfit class as I am the coach. Come in and give crossfit a try. You will be glad you did.

I began CrossFit Spongers a little over a year ago and wasn’t sure I was ready or able to do it but John asked me to trust him and that’s what I did. When you join this program you are getting so much more than a membership. You become part of a family that supports, encourages and pushes you to be a better version of yourself. I love this place. I did crossfit for 5 years in my mid 20's and I tore and injured almost every limb in my body. So I left and thought I would never do crossfit again. I tried typical gyms and bootcamps but they weren't cutting it, and I lost all hope. A year later I thought I would give it one more try. I looked for gyms in my area and Total Fitness/Crossfit Spongers popped up. I am sooo happy I looked again. Allie the PM coach is amazing, she is so knowledgeable, cool and fun. She is there constantly with us paying attention, making sure we have the proper form, and cheering and encouraging us. She's the best at helping scale movements and to modify or shift anything you cannot do. John, the owner is also amazing. I have arthritis on my knees and lower back problems, so he suggested I start with one day a week to see how each movement affects my body. That tells you that he cares about YOU and not about getting another unlimited membership. Both John and Allie showed me that you can do Crossfit responsibly, without sacrificing form. I definitely recommend this Crossfit.
