I don’t normally review golf courses, but we couldn’t even finish 9 holes the course was so bad. Just because the grass is green doesn’t mean that it is a quality course. There is no drainage at all. Cart path only, but much of the path is missing and full of water. Fairway shots were affected by how soupy the ground was. I had muck nearly up to my laces in some areas. $20 with a cart isn’t bad, but I would have gladly paid double that for a course I could finish. I know they’ve put a lot of work into it, but it needs a ton more before I give it another go. I feel bad for the homeowners that pay for this.

Well, right now, with all the rain, course is extremely saturated. Having said that, the improvements are making this one of the best experiences in the area. Greens are great and putting fast and true, fairways filling in and the weeds are finally on their last legs. Cypress Management doing wonderful job in spite of the rain. Staff at Pro Shop is the best.

The layout of the course is nice, the greens are about a 9 and in great shape...the course holds alot of water, typical rain fall will get you cart paths only, so be prepared during rainy season. Other wise, I liked the course, didn't see a beverage cart the entire day and no rangers to speed up play.

I've always enjoyed playing this course and support them even when the greens was not up to par...but today I played there,the course was nice . The one thing I hated the most was being rushed even though we were a little slow and let groups go ahead,that being said why were we rushed by the starter...up to that moment I thought I'll come back again and that happens...I normally have a couple of groups...that being said,they lost 8 to 12 guys that would have kept playing there...do you think the course would survive if it keeps up

As the owner of New Outlook Events, my role involves finding the ideal venue to match my clients' vision. The Cypresswood Clubhouse proved perfect for the planned outdoor wedding ceremony, with its patio and bar area ideal for the cocktail hour, and ballroom for the reception. I coordinated a wedding there for Saturday, May 10th and worked with Amy, who is delightful. A face-to-face meeting is highly recommended to fully appreciate her accommodating nature. We rented the entire venue and engaged their catering services. The staff provided exceptional service during the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and especially on the wedding day, adding thoughtful touches to the bar area. They adapted remarkably well to the necessary changes due to rain affecting the outdoor ceremony and patio cocktail hour. Their efficient cleanup afterward was also greatly appreciated.

We dined at the Cypresswood Pub. We sat in a room next to the bar area as the outdoor dining area wasn't available. Our dining choices were a grilled chicken sandwich and a patty melt, served with fries or chips. Both sandwiches were good. We were entertained by a very talented guitarist/ singer. However, the music level was a little loud for that room. We did enjoy our visit, and the customer service was great!

I started Playing this course in Fall of 2018. The course than was in rough shape but, Bob and his Team have done A FANTASTIC Job getting the Course in Great Shape!

They've Opened and Repaired the Fairways, the Drainage of the course has been updated and they've redone the Greens and are continuing to work and Improve the Course. Its a GREAT VALUE for a Beautiful course that continues to get better.

The Restaurant and Food are also excellent!!! Staff and Everyone at the Course are friendly. Definitely Check this place out!!!

I've been driving by this course over the past ten years and have watched more and more players on it. Reading the reviews I could see that improvements were being made. When we played the course it was apparent that they were doing a lot of work to keep it in good shape. Overall, it was a great experience, and we definitely will be going back. A nice golf course here in Winter Haven. I (personally) really enjoyed the pasture and cows hanging around on holes 1-5. My wife only golfed the front 9. The cart path IS in rough shape but the course is better than some friends said it was. We had lunch at the clubhouse, the black and blue burger was good and I love some pub chips and these were great.

Played Cypresswood G&CC today, 7/31/2023. It can only be described as a goat ranch. The rough is minimum 4-6" deep, resulting in balls being lost in the rough and excessive time being taken looking for balls. All of the greens have bare patches and are SLOW. The traps are a mixed bag, some good, some bad. Fairways often have weeds growing in them though overall they were mediocre.

Save your money and play somewhere else.

Lovely welcome yesterday. My nephew and I played and had a tremendous time. Plenty of interest on the course, we played off the reds as he's a developing golfer and this allowed us to have enough challenge without making the length punitive. Delightful staff in the pro shop and bar and amazing value! Greens are coming on and rough was not too punitive. Keep it in play! We will definitely be back and soon!

Played it within the last 2 days; the greens were absolutely horrible with lots of bare spots and very lumpy. Hard to hit a straight putt without the ball jumping all over the place. Bunkers were in terrible shape and if you go off the fairway it is nothing but weeds and bare ground and mud. The course was in very poor shape and we definitely did not get our $40 worth. On a positive note, the ranger and pro shop personnel could not have been nicer. However, in spite of that, I would not play here again.

I’d actually give it 3.5 stars if l could. The cart had no GPS, but did have USB, and it drove quiet and smooth. I didn’t use the practice facilities other than a few putts. The green did appear to roll true to the actual greens. The tee boxes were patchy, but it really didn’t affect play. They were also level. The fairways were “mostly” Bermuda, but there was plenty of other grasses (and weeds) blended in. The rough was what ever grass (or weed) happened to be growing. The traps were nice. The greens, for the most part, were fine. There was some patchy disease, but nothing again that affected play. Their pace was medium. I was told by my playing partners and the starter that they have made a lot of improvements over the past two years. Though they have definitely neglected the cart paths. All in all l enjoyed the round. Very interesting course visually. A lot of water on the front. I’d go back if it wasn’t an hour drive.

Very nice golf course with pristine greens! The greens must be new because they were perfect! Also, there was plenty of ice and ice water for guests of the golf course. Some holes even have cold ice water and cups! This is always to me a very nice touch! Golf cart was also clean.

Overall, the golf course is challenging but there are a few easier holes to birdie out there. The only reason for a 4 star and not 5, is that if you hit you're golf ball anywhere other than the fairways you run a very high risk of losing you're ball. This is due to the high grass outside of the fairways. For this reason pack at least 10 more balls with you. Very easy to lose one in the thick grass. (Other reviewers have stated this, and I found this criticism accurate).

That's the only suggestion I would make, is to cut the grass off the fairways in order to provide a more pleasurable golfing experience for everyone. Other than this, I enjoyed playing the course and will be back to get those birdies!

Nice course! Good challenge for a good price! Lots of water but not so much it's annoying. Gated community with easy signs to find the clubhouse. Beautiful houses maybe a little close to the course at times, but I left all the windows intact today.

Condition was above average but not perfect. A few rough areas in the fairways and on the greens but overall one of the better maintained courses in the area. Sadly, the rough just off the fairways was very tall, 4 to 6 inches deep... So if you missed, it was very difficult to find your ball.

We recently had our SEC football party at the Clubhouse in Cypresswood. The food was excellent and the staff was always available for mixed drinks and wine. We had a room in the back so we were not seen by regular restaurant customers and we had our own space. For the price, I think $1200, we were more than happy. We had about 6 appetizers and a shrimp platter that must have had 200 shrimp on it. The pita finger sandwiches were great and the roast beef sliders were gone in about 30 minutes.

After them just opening back up for maintenance on their tee boxes greens and bunkers, very disappointed in the shape they were in. Greens were covered in sand and fertilizer, tee boxes were garbage, and the bunkers appeared to be nice, but in reality the worse I’ve seen. Do not go there. Not even worth them paying you to play.

Horrible!!! I travel to Florida a few times a year to golf with friends. This year we decided to stay in Winter Haven and try some courses near Tampa and locally. Cypresswood we tried and it is awful. I don't like reviews but if you like golf DO NOT TRY THIS GOLF COURSE!! Greens are shameful...I mean the worst I've ever experienced, bunkers are not maintained whatsoever, and your backyard is probably in better shape. Maybe an ok course if you never played and wanted to try knocking it around. I had a bad feeling when the staff and players were wearing ripped up jeans on the property. I do have to say staff was pleasant, otherwise I would give zero stars if I was able. Save yourself the trip, go to another course!!

Our family decided to throw a birthday party for our sweet aunt Shelby's 80th birthday and the party was suppose to begin at 2 o'clock, but since we are family we arrived early so we could see all of the decorations and to see how everything was going to be set up. When we arrived at the country club nothing was done. It was still decorated from the night before... I mean seriously we have planned to have a nice family gathering and NOTHING was set up. I asked around for someone to help me finish what I needed to get done and a young lady named Brooke was the woman in charge. She was everything but helpful. All she did was roll her eyes at my family and I. If you are not going to be accommodating to families and their needs then you should not offer any party services what so ever. We began to decorate for the party and we were short a table cloth so I asked Miss Brooke if I could get another one and she gave me a CURTAIN. Overall this was a terrible experience and we were very disappointed.

The Wood's Mafia. This development is ran by the Wood's Family. John Wood's does things his way and he does not care who is hurts along the way. He is one of our State Representatives and he is truly a politician. The Wood's Family has their hands in everything. They sale the property, John is the Attorney and handles the closings. John's Brought is the builder and Anne Woods manages the funds for a large portion if not all of the Associates. John is the Kingpin and its his way or the highway and he will figure out how to get it done by threatening whomever. The Wood's Family has leased out the golf course because they could not make it work and it was going downhill fast. That is the main attraction for retirees and they let it run down. The Wood's Family has hurt the development by doing this. But John does not care. He has already gotten his money so he could truly care less about the future of what his Dad started. The Wood's Family it ruthless and it shows.

They nickel and dime the residents in each association. John has figured out ways for all of the associations to maintain his office in the development when it is part of none of the associations and they pay nothing to any of the associations. There are no amenities included in your HOA fees. Not even the pool. The pool is used so little because of this. It just sits there looking pretty.

And the guard shack is a false sense of security. All they do is push a button to let anyone in. There is no consistency on if they ask you where you are going or not. They just punch the bottom and you are in. They could save a lot of money if they would simply put in gates with a punch pad and have a video screen tied to the golf club office so that if someone wants to play golf they can buzz them in during daylight hours. But its a waist of money to have a person there at night to just push a button.

Last but not least, the sales staff at John Woods' Reality are very unprofessional and lake customer service skills. Sue has the worst personality and is normally very short and rude.

I took instruction from Bob Schade 20 years ago, and still use what I learned from him today. Cypresswood is a nice, seasoned course that offers beginners and above average golfer a solid challenge. I would recommend the course, or Bob as an instructor to anyone!
