I've been training with Dan for about two months. I'm already feeling much stronger and my flexibility has increased. Working with Dan twice a week holds me accountable to a routine and inspires me to achieve my goals. Without the commitment I've made to Darwin Fitness, it would be too easy to blow off exercising or allow other obligations to get in the way. I look forward to showing up on time and ready to work. I’ve been training with Coach Dan at Darwin Fitness since December of last year, and I can genuinely say he’s an outstanding personal trainer! What I appreciate most about Dan is his flexibility with scheduling. Given my demanding hours at the hospital, my only opportunity to work out is early mornings. I train with Dan twice a week from 5 to 6 am, and the workouts are intense! He motivates me to improve and keeps me accountable to my goals. I've been working out regularly for over 40 years. The trainers at Darwin Fitness excel at putting me through routines that are a perfect balance of weightlifting and aerobic exercise. My routine has changed now that I'm 68 and yet they still push to get the perfect training session in. It's the perfect balance of staying well fit with still a focus on looking good. Their older clients all look much younger than their actual age. I would strongly recommend giving them a try. Their location between Winter Park and Maitland also makes it very convenient. If you're interested in only body building and strength training they have a great group of younger guys there that are looking massive and generally phenomenal. A very strong recommendation for Darwin Fitness here. You've got nothing to lose and a great opportunity to look and feel great!

I have been working with Dan now for 4 months. The facility is never overcrowded and there is always a station or machine available for myself and Dan to work on. My best recommendation is that there are days where I'd rather not go, but Dan makes it work for me. He listens and designs the workout to meet my needs. He cares and I've always fetl that he was focused on me. My impression of the business in general is excellent. Everyone I've interacted with has been pleasant. You should give Darwin a try and ask for Dan.

Love this gym! Super clean and fully stocked! Personally, I’m obsessed with my trainer Megan. She makes sure I reach my goals and encourages me to push myself further (in a safe and reasonable way). I’ve worked with other personal fitness gyms and I truly feel heard at this gym. I feel like my goals are achievable and maintainable. Iv’e been working with Dan at Darwin Fitness since mid September 2023, and it’s been 6 months. I’m an 67 female very over weight. I started Darwin fitness to help improve by balance, increase my overall strength and hopefully reverse osteoporosis and other medical issues that comes with aging. Dan doesn’t let me slack off - he very dedicated to making the most of my work out and that I am getting the greatest benefit - while still working within my limitations - now that it has been 6 months i can tell that I am stronger - I am more confident walking up and down stairs- my fatigue on the golf course while walking has greatly improved and I love my golf - Dan works to make sure that I work on making my movements stronger. If you live in the Maitland area and go to the Publix in Maitland the Fitness center is so close - you should consider a personal trainer - I’ve never had a trainer before - but this I can tell you - given to my own device I don’t have the fortitude to be this dedicated - I attribute this to Dan and Darwin fitness

Being elderly with health issues, my husband began an exercise program with Dan at Darwin Ftness,in order to gain muscle strength and improve and maintain mobility and activity both physically and mentally. I feel lucky to have found Darwin Fitness. I was considering joining a major gym, but the vibes were off for me and I was mainly looking for personal training. I am the type of person who can spin her wheels with information, and get overwhelmed. So, I sought out a personal trainer to understand correct form and get help with my fitness journey. I have PCOS and specifically wanted to train with someone who had an understanding of it.
Thankfully, I found Siobhan. She understands PCOS. She is also cheerful and supportive, even when I'm non-caffeinated and dead in the morning. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes me feel like I am capable of so much more than I thought. I can already feel a difference.

Pam’s 2x a week workouts have been amazing at stretching the muscles when they are sore, and strengthening the back so it does not hurt to begin with. Edit: I recently started working out with Pete, one of the newest members to join JS’s team of personal trainers. Pete is passionate about what he does and it is reflected in his training sessions, which he clearly takes the time to design to tailor to individualistic needs. My training sessions have been sporadic at best, due to the hectic nature of my life. However, Pete has always been extremely accommodating and understating. He doesn’t make me feel guilty when I have to miss one, but instead cheers me on when I’m able to make it in and always does his best to maximize our time together. Pete’s workouts are extremely effective and always the right amount of challenging. Each session is filled with so much vibrant energy and consist of variety, which I love because it’s not the same tired routine over and over. In fact, I don’t think I have ever done the same workout with him twice and some of the combos that he’s designed I’ve never done before in my life, period. But most importantly, his workout sessions are fun. Peppered between our sets is laughter because Pete’s a funny guy. He takes the time to listen to your needs to help you meet your goals, he’s professional, he’s knowledgeable, he’s kind, and he makes exercising enjoyable.

Pete is extremely knowledgeable in all things fitness; focusing on form during all exercises and adjusting weights accordingly. But don’t be fooled, he WILL push you farther than you expect. What's my "why" for training with Pamela at Darwin Fitness?
A personal trainer is only as good as how well they do their homework (your history, joints, hormones, what motivates you, when to push you, and days you may need to dial it back etc . . .). Pamela is not a one size fits all trainer and I appreciate that because my reason for seeking out a personal trainer in midlife is very different than when I was in my late 20s and early 30s. Back then I did not have some of the injuries that I have accumulated over the years. Today as a working mom, I require workouts that are efficient and effective. Pamela thoughtfully designs my workouts "for me." I recall a particularly tough week at work how cathartic it was that she included boxing in our session. Pamela mentioned that she created my workout on Sunday and there was no way for her to know that it was just what I needed that week but I think there is a certain intuitiveness and synchronicity that comes with taking the time to truly get to know your clients where you can anticipate their needs. I am never fearful that I will injure/reinjure myself. I have seen tremendous gains in my energy level, conditioning and muscle tone. I am able to enjoy activities that I once loved stronger than ever before such as rollerblading, hiking/walking, headstands in yoga etc . . . In addition, the nutrition support provided at Darwin Fitness and sense of community will keep you encouraged and coming back for more.

If you're searching for a gym that will get you results - your search is over. It's this one. PLUS it's the only gym that regularly plays French rap - which may just be the secret ingredient to fitness success (it's at least working for me).
I've been working with Dustin here for about six months. He's awesome, able to work around my schedule and prior injury history (shoulders and lower back) to create a routine that's challenging, keeps me progressing week after week, and DELIVERS RESULTS.
Since coming here I've cut almost 3% of my body fat while consistently adding strength and weight to my routine every week. I got terribly sick for an entire month, came back in quite a bit weaker - no worries. Dustin had a plan to get me back on track and I quickly regained what I'd lost and progressed past my previous point.
Beyond just my trainer, everyone else in the gym from staff to other patrons are very supportive. Trainers Jean-Sebastien and Pamela are always greeting people when they come in and encouraging/supporting others, even if you're not their direct client.
Also I should mention they're all certified Nutrition experts as well. If you've done any sort of training before, you'll know nutrition is half the battle, if not more. They'll absolutely get you set up to succeed on all fronts of the health journey.
If you're considering them, just do it. I've done other places and programs before them and gotten some results, but they came much more slowly. If you follow the focused formula here like they tell you, the results will stack up a lot faster than you think.

Going into it I knew I wanted a small local gym that was well maintained (it’s always so clean!) and a “no pressure” environment. Late last year, I committed myself to losing weight and getting in shape, and I decided to try something new since my previous attempts hadn't worked so well. I eventually found my way to Darwin Fitness, and I’m very glad that I did.
After a few introductory text messages with the owner, Jean-Sébastien, I was scheduled for a consultation with Dustin, one of the gym’s trainers. The consultation itself was good; I never felt overly pressured, and the intake mostly consisted of gathering a baseline to measure progress against over time.
I’ve been training with Dustin for close to half a year now, and I’m very pleased with my progress. In conjunction with dietary changes and a not-insignificant amount of calorie reduction, I’ve lost nearly 50 lbs. in less than six months and have also put on a good amount of muscle, which I always had trouble doing in the past. Similarly, my stamina is greatly improved, I don’t find myself getting out of breath, and I’m able to move around more easily.
I’ll continue coming to Darwin Fitness, not only to further my weight loss journey but for the people as well. Dustin is a pleasure to work with; aside from being a genuinely friendly and nice guy, he’s never judgmental and is always encouraging, and he knows how to push you without coming off as a drill sergeant.
Admittedly, I don’t get a lot of opportunities to chat with Pamela (one of the other trainers), but she’s always friendly and greets you as you walk in. And then there’s Jean-Sébastien, the real-life Gaston. I swear this guy eats five dozen eggs since he’s roughly the size of a barge. Jokes aside, he genuinely cares about his clients and wants what’s best for them. He’s also very knowledgeable and can cater to your specific needs. His Parisian accent and sensibilities are just the icing on the cake, err, I mean gâteau.

Jean-Sebastien has a great knack for pushing me to my limits in every workout, without pushing me OVER my limit. He is creative with modifying difficult exercises to match my current level of capability, while also showing me a path forward to developing further progress. He pays close attention to details such as correct posture, breathing, and proper stretching after a workout to help prevent unnecessary strain and injury, which has been a problem for me in the past. Beyond our actual workouts together, I can see that the knowledge he is teaching me will continue to benefit me for the rest of my life. I've learned a lot about how to properly use target muscle, proper position & movement, and increase weight. The program is very well structured and my trainer; Dustin is very professional and guides really well on how to use equipment and contract & release target muscles. Without training at Darwin these past couple of months, I wouldn't have been in the right shape for the modeling showcase I had to do. Talk about a great experience! I was looking for something to help me get back into decent shape before getting married this coming year. I can say this has exceeded my expectations. The workouts are tailored, challenging, and never dull so I always look forward to the workout, even after a rough day. Jean-Sebastian is also very knowledgeable with the nutritional side as well which rounds out the tailored approach for fitness goals.

I trained with Jean Sebastian for just over 2 years and the only reason I am not still working with him is because I moved. When I first met with JS I had a free session to see if we would be a good fit. He was knowledgeable, straight forward, and listened to what I was trying to accomplish. For the first 6 months I trained without really watching what I was eating so I gained muscle but didn't lose weight. Once I started to combine the two I saw the weight start to come off. During this time, JS never pressured me on the weight and I feel that because I made the decision to eat better it was a success. In the first year of working with JS I lost 35lbs, ran my first 10k, and hardly ever repeated the same exercise more than a couple times. In the second year I trained for a Half Marathon and ran in 3 of them that year. The things I liked best about training with JS are he mixes up the exercises, he is patient, he listens, he pushes you to get better but not beyond your limits, and he truly wants you to be successful. Overall, if you are looking for a trainer who can help you to reach your goals and keep it interesting and fun then I would definitely recommend Jean Sebastien and Darwin Fitness.

I have been training with Jean-Sebastien for over 4 years now. He really has incredible knowledge and helps his clients tremendously. My 50-yr old body feels (& looks) great because of him. Jean-Sebastien's new personal gym located in Maitland is wonderful. Not only are you the only person in the gym with him (read: you don't have to wait for machines), he has every conceivable piece of equipment. One of JS's really good qualities that keeps me (& probably many of his clients) coming for so long is that he never does the same routine twice. Every day is something new and something geared specifically for *you*. In our current pandemic situation, Jean-Sebastien is incredible about his cleaning practices. I am a 33 years old male with already years of running and workouts alone and from time to time with fitness trainers. I hired JS mainly to break a plateau. It took 6 months of training to lower my bodyfat to 12%. My initial goal was 10% but I am very happy where I am now and confident I can maintain my weight loss.I never had a personal trainer who brings this level of variety in his sessions. Jean Sebastian has been my trainer for about two years now. I have to admit I don’t like working out, but I do it because I love food! Plus I like feeling stronger. JS does a wonderful job by keeping it interesting, it’s never the same workout twice, so I don’t get bored. He’s very good at pushing you further, but not beyond your limits. I’ve made steady progress with my fitness thanks to his guidance. He’s also got a great sense of humor which I find necessary! He personally cleans all equipment after use. He honors my discomfort during this pandemic and wears a mask to make me feel better. He is well educated and "knows his stuff". He can work me to my limits at every session. He constantly attends his clients to be sure they are using proper form. Jean-Sebastian has been my trainer for several years. He is very knowledgeable about the mechanics of the body. I always feel safe that I don’t have to worry about getting hurt. He always changes up the workout so I never get bored. He is training people individually right now with the virus. He disinfects everything after each person.
