idk who hired these guards but the level of unprofessionalism is abhorrent. i've seen 4 different guards and not a single one of them did their job. 3 used their phones, another kept getting off the chair while on surveillance duty, and all 4 had shoes on. none of them even put the guard tube strap around themselves! it's absolutely ridiculous and i fear for the day when someone gets seriously hurt because of this ineptitude. hire more lifeguard managers so you can have SOMEONE watching these guards at all times

The Boynton Beach YMCA is a really nice place to workout and the cleanliness of the facility speaks volumes about the management. My wife and I love the facility.

The steam room and jacuzzi are why I go here, last 2 months every Sunday they do not turn on the Steam room. I asked and was told because only women work on Sunday and they can’t go into the men’s room to turn it on. I asked so why not turn it on before you open the doors? No reply just said they cannot operate it due to the schedule. UNBELIEVABLE. Just installed a new boiler last week and it’s not working, asked lifeguard advised to wait 15 minutes I waited 30 and nothing. How does nobody working there half the day know it’s not working. I’d recommend a change in management starting with who makes the schedule. Hard working part time the other half disabled and I can’t use the steam room on Sunday due to a gender issue. Update now no steam on Saturday as well. Might be back working again. All right!

I have to give a shout out to Coach Eric at the Boynton YMCA. My daughter loves his class and he has built up her confidence and unlocked a love for the sport! He’s patient, and positive and my daughter loves that he provides feedback so she can learn and develop her skills. Thank you!

My daughter started out with higher level swim lessons to learn the different swim strokes which she learned a lot. She was then able to join the boynton ymca Rays swim team which has completely transformed how she swims. I am incredibly happy how much she has improved in her swim skills. They are given the opportunity to practice 4 times a week with their coaches. The coaches have been great and very responsive. I now have full confidence in her swimming abilities and relieved as a parent that I know she is safe in the water. Every swim meet I have seen her improve in her skill and speed. She was 6-7 years old going into this which I think was a great age to start.

We have been members of the the Y for a couple years now and absolutely love it. From the gym to the child watch to the workout classes. Both of my kids have been in swim lessons there for a while and are just thriving. Teri in particular has been our swim instructor and she is just amazing. My kids adore her and both have immensely improved in swimming thanks to her. The facility is very well ran, very clean and overall just a very welcoming great place. We have done youth team sports there for a few seasons as well and the Athletic Director, Ian is a true pleasure. Very helpful and always there to answer questions. Keep being amazing Boynton Beach YMCA!

My daughter absolutely loves being part of the swim team, and we’re so thankful for the amazing coaches Yarelis, Emely, and Evan. With their guidance, she’s not only improved her times from one competition to the next but has also gained the confidence to overcome her fear of competing.

The absolute worst place to bring your children for swim lessons, especially if they are beginners. It is a literal factory. Clearly what matters is quantity in this case, definitely not quality. Everything is extremely rushed. I did not get to meet or converse with the instructor- at least to let him know that my daughter is a beginner. I was in the water with my youngest daughter, when I hear that my 3 year old is screaming and crying. She fell into the pool while the instructor was on the opposite side with another student.
The lifeguard was the one to take her out. They had 6 kids sitting on the edge of the pool. How is this safe? They know nothing about my daughter and she was expected to sit on the edge and not move, and boom, she fell in. I was shocked and pissed. I don't care if the classes are free, the most expensive. But I will never step foot into a YMCA again. It's a FACTORY. Waste of time and thanks for traumatizing my daughter.

Aww man I'm very disappointed with how they handle a situation that just happened. I really like the ymca but today while working out a big white guy started yelling at the gym at another smaller one and told him to go where he came from. I'm here to work out not here to listen to a big guy bullying a smaller one. It was very distracting and I was very disappointed with the way they handled the situation.

So far so good for us.

Nothing ever is perfect in life, and sometimes I feel people just leave a bad review because they didn't get their own way. We are human right, and we have emotions. Feelings get hurt.
I have used the facility on the 2 day welcome pass with my wife. I am an Iraq War Military Veteran, and maybe I have a different outlook on life.. I am just grateful to be alive. I'm not better than anyone, but the facility Devos-Blum is fine for us. I worked out with my wife, jumped in jacuzzi, and did swimming for an hr. Went home, had some chicken, and watched the game with my wife. I am considering joining with my wife on my payday. Thanks, and this is my review. 5 stars 🌟
We will be back.

YMCA from Boynton beach it’s a good place , but what makes me unhappy is the reason that the building isn’t grounded (bonded) by code of florida all building supposed to be grounded.
And then when rains start or some lightning, we need to leave the indoor pools , saunas and jacuzzi.
They should consider make some improvements there to avoid those type of embarrassments.

The bathrooms (not all) have been recently renovated which was a good thing because they were absolutely disgusting. The membership cost just increased and so did other things, such as swimming classes. My child has been taking private swimming classes for awhile and it would cost us $225 for 6 - thirty minute lessons. I just paid for another session and the bill was a whopping $250! That's almost $42 for 30 minutes. That's just wrong. Group lessons are a JOKE because it's 30 minutes with one instructor with 5 or 6 kids. There is no way your child is going to get more than 5 minutes of instruction. I know because I signed my child up for group swimming classes and it was a waste of time & money. I was told the increase was to pay for the locker room renovation which is a joke because there are already issues with the newly renovated women's locker room. The last shower stall on the right is missing a shower curtain and the shower stall in front of that one is already missing the towel hooks. When I brought it up with the front desk they said that they were already aware of it. Well, it's been weeks now and you would think that they would already installed the shower curtain and replaced the missing towels hooks. Hand sanitizer dispenser by the main entrance is always empty, the flooring in the gym is bubbling up in several places which I have already witnessed an older lady trip on it, staffing is inadequate at the front desk, there isn't a great variety of classes, and also when summer camp is in session it is complete hell. It is loud, counselors have no control over the kids and if you want to use the swimming pool during those months prepare yourself! The outrageous price increases is unfair. Several months ago I overheard the director telling one of the male members at the gym that the gym demographic has changed and that wealthier people are now using the gym. The YMCA IS NOT Equinox or New York Sports Club! Far from it but they want to charge you as if you are attending some premier gym. They have forgotten their own history, who opened the 1st YMCA and why it came to be. I am probably going to get the same generic response to this comment like others have.

We visited YMCA at Boynton Beach today for a first time. We were looking for a youth volleyball information. Christina Sentmanat (front desk) met us with such lovely smile. The way this young lady is welcoming the customers is priceless. Christina provided us with all needed information, she has patiently replied on dozen of our questions. We couldn’t stand in front of her charm and such an amazing service! We got our memberships right away and signed our kids for volleyball. We are looking forward for a great time with YMCA!

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at YMCA in Boynton Beach. While I have been a member for some time and generally enjoy working out here, one encounter with a personal trainer by the name of Dawn McCormick was enough to make me feel unwelcome and humiliated.

I was already working out in a shared space when a personal trainer came over and demanded that I leave because the area “takes precedence” for her and her client. While I understand that personal trainers have their own needs, her approach was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. She argued with me in front of other gym members, raising her voice and creating a scene even while I was working out.

In the past, I’ve always been polite and considerate when sharing gym spaces with others. I often ask people if they’re almost done so I can patiently wait or adjust my workout. I’ve never had any issues with members or staff because I make an effort to work around others. This trainer, however, wasn’t willing to work with me at all. Even though I was there first, she refused to collaborate or consider another area of the gym for her session.

This could have been handled so much better. Instead of being confrontational, she could have explained the situation politely and worked out a solution that respected both her client’s needs and mine. A gym should foster respect and inclusivity for all members, not make them feel like they don’t belong.

I hope management addresses Ms. McCormick’s behavior and ensures that staff are trained to handle such situations with professionalism and courtesy. Members should feel valued, and this experience left me questioning whether I should continue working out here.

I've had a good experience, overall. The gym is pretty decent, staff friendly, place is in decent shape. I've used better/cleaner places, but normally 3x the price tag or half the amenities, so I think this place is good quality for what they charge. Only complaint is the water slide - you should rrally have designated times its on. Right now your kid has to get very lucky unless they are in camp.

This is probably the worst Y I've ever been to. I'm a visiting member from Des Moines. It's nice that they have the e-gym here even though I don't participate. I noticed a lot of people in the program. There seemed to be quite a few trainers around but just one person at the front desk while they were having tech issues.

The weight machines are pretty outdated albeit decently maintained. There was a huge variety of equipment all around though I only saw one set of kettlebells. They use paper towels to clean the machines here which is extremely wasteful.

There's a basketball court and some outdoor fields (which other Y's don't always have). I think I saw a cycling studio and a freestyle workout room. No racquetball courts here.

I'll reiterate what someone else mentioned about the locker rooms/bathrooms. They are DISGUSTING. Stains everywhere, mold, mildew, chipped sinks and counters. I needed to pee but I high-tailed it out of there and waited till I got to the store. A Y membership is not cheap, and the facility was full towards the end of our visit. I wonder what's happening to all of the money they're getting. A clean bathroom should be standard. It's 2024. You can tell they really don't care by the generic responses they give to all of the negative reviews.

Thanks to the Y we have made new relationships with others who bring positive attributes into our families lives. This review is only for swimming lessons:
If your child Can swim it's a good place to do classes but if your child is a beginner look for another place. 1st off they are way too many kids in a swimming class 6-7 small children who don't know how to swim so out of that 30 min lesson you child will get 5 minutes at the most with the swimming teacher ... save your money and time and look at another place. I wish I had known this but no one will give this information upfront!!!

My son is 3 and does evening swim classes here and there is a cool down area for the kids to play after their session is done, HOWEVER I don’t like the fact that the shallow end immediately drops into deep waters as soon as the kids pass the rope. There was no lifeguard on the side of the kids, either. The instructors on the opposite side are busy with other groups of kids. One of the kids in his class actually fell in but luckily his mom saved him. These kids are still learning so I expected them to have a guard present. 🤷‍♀️

I wanted to give five star for the Y because I loved it as my son with 15 years old does, we spent very nice time there, my son signed in the soccer program that he love and he was so excited about, but the coach that was there insisted to put him as goal keeper he didn't like it and he was not enjoy it at all when he talk to his caoch about and he said that i want to play he told him you have to be goal keeper otherwise you have to change the team in the middle of his practice session 😳 and he went to the manger to do that, my hasband went to talk to him with the manager and there no communication or professional manner with the two of them, and even if we want change the team for him the other team is full, so he got to stop him in his practice session my hasband didn't like that so we went to cancel our membership unfortunately and it was the first day of this month and the other funny thing that they charged us of the whole month and that's not fair at all
My son was so sad and disappointed that day.
It's was really very bad experience there.

Joining the Y has been such an amazing decision for our family. We started with summer camp, and joined in June for the family membership. I am able to adhere to a strength training program for the first time in years, in part thanks to our daughter’s interest in going to Child Watch. The options for programs for our daughter are endless! What an amazing community resource we missed out in for the last 6 years. I’m just so grateful that we have found a home that supports the care, connection, and health of our entire family, and offers a safe, enriching environment for our daughter to grow up in outside of home and school.

So happy I became a member! So many ways to stay in shape , group classes from yoga to high intensity training. Two heated pools. Sauna, steam room and my favorite very warm jacuzzi! They also provide child care, amazing.

Love that the pool is indoors and has a play area for kids. Tanisha was an awesome swim teacher! She was kind, soft spoken with the kids and very patient. My son loved her and I would recommend her to everyone!

Great center with large pool, tons of equipment and clean facilities. Family friendly with multiple programs for children and adults. We have been members as a family for 10 years and are treated like family. The staff is the BEST! They greet by name and are professional. Love this place!!!

The friendly staff does a great job of keeping the Wellness Center clean and observes CDC guidelines for keeping members and their families safe from the coronavirus. I've been a member of the Boynton Beach YMCA for almost 20 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else to workout. 👍

I would love to be able to give this Y a great review, due to the convenient location to my home. Unfortunately, I cannot. While they offer great services for children, their communication is poor and unprofessional. My daughter was registered (and paid) for camp and when we arrived in the morning, I was told she wasn’t able to attend. Being a working mom, I pleaded for assistance as no one had communicated she wasn’t accepted. I showed the camp leader my phone, with no calls/emails but she insisted my daughter could not stay. The leader even acknowledged that I was not communicated with. I should’ve known this was going to be the case, since the summer prior the camp leader refused to allow my daughter to obtain her eye glasses when she asked. I attempted to escalate these situations to the Director, Mr. Davis, however, nothing was addressed. For the price of this camp, I had higher expectations. I will go out of the local area for sports and camp.

If there were other options we would go somewhere else. This isn’t to say that there aren’t good people here ,but obviously the culture of the facility set by their director “Barry” is very negative. In our time here we have had coaches curse and yell at our children and “Barry” refused to take action, difficulty getting accurate game schedules and once again “Barry” refused to take action, and most recently a lack professionalism and fairness from trainers in the gym and of course “Barry” joined in and refused to take action. As a leader by profession I understand the need to set a positive culture, develop community, relationships, and provide good customer service to your guest. None of this occurs here ,and I doubt it ever will with the current leadership structure in place

The BASKETBALL PROGRAM at THIS YMCA IS TERRIBLE! There are children running the scoreboard, they have inexperienced, poorly trained volunteers as the referees, the team are imbalanced and the gym floor is always dirty/slippery. SAD.

Had a membership for over 3 years. I never really made time to use the facilities. I just went to cancel my membership. I got hit with a 30-day cancellation policy. When the time comes to get another membership I will look elsewhere.

Play YMCA is supposed to be family friendly. At this specific YMCA in Boynton Beach the attendant at the front desk was extremely rude. The facility is small but fairly Clean..
