Tried joining for a student trial offer and was told I could cancel anytime. Come to find out you have to cancel in person during staffed hours and there’s a $100 cancellation fee which was not brought up when I signed up in person…also paid $90 for a training program that I never received. I tried supporting a smaller gym cuz I thought they didn’t need to resort to these tactics.

I started my journey by visiting different gyms in the area. As a prior body builder I have had extensive gym experience at places like PowerHouse & Gold's Gym. Every gym i toured here, with the exception of EnerGym, I found to be bougie and frou frou. Ridiculous noise rules, people running around looking like they are in a fashion show, and employees who couldn't answer questions, didnt join me on my walk of their facilities, and facilities that were dark and dingy or unbelievabely obnoxious and crowded with equipment so close together it was hard to walk through.

Then I drove past a small gym on my way home that wasnt even on my list from the internet. The moment I walked in, I liked what I saw. The place was on the small side, but the equipment was spaced correctly was a good mix and was CLEAN! The gym was bright and clean with fresh colors, AND the CARPET was clean!!! The ceiling light fixtures were CLEAN! I cant stress clean enough!

People were dressed like they were ready to get tired and sweaty and it was obvious REAL working out was encouraged rather than stifled. Then I met Brad, the owner who was in his office and came out to greet me. He gave me a tour, people greeted him as we walked around which is an indicator that people know him and that he has a personable relationship with his members. On top of all that, he took the time to ask about me and my goals. Turned out to be a great guy.

I have now been a member for years, even kept up my membership because I really like Brad and I love his gym, when I had a long term injury (not gym related) that kept me out. My husband and my son joined and have been going for 2 years now.

Earlier this year I ended up in physical therapy. They suggested I do some Yoga. Oh look, my gym offers free classes! Well I started going and day ONE i felt better. HUGE SHOUTOUT to the instructor, Marilyn!!

Recently, I decided to get back in the gym but not for cardio as before, but for lifting. Due to the combination of an old lifting injury, and the newer issue, I was nervous about lifting again. So I decided to use the personal trainers offered by EnerGym. I met with Logan, really nice guy, and did the initial meeting. He hooked me up with Jay Norton, a business partner of Brad's.

I have been working with Jay three times a week for the last three weeks and it has been wonderful! With his help, direction, and attention he has shown me that I can do it! Jay has gone, what i feel is, above and beyond normal personal trainer behavior and not only took my actual issues into consideration while also addressing my nervousness, but helped me to not be afraid of the weights. That I can do it! I am beyond grateful to Jay, Brad, and Logan.

EnerGym is truly the best gym i have ever used. I encourage everyone to give EnerGym a try. And once again, THANK YOU JAY!!

To whom it may concern. It was told to me you don't judge a company when everything is going good, you judge a company when the shit hits the fan and how they deal with the situation. I was told on the phone that I would only have to pay $40 today and $30 on the 20th of each month and a $40 fee on 01/01 of each year. So I went online to become a member and the screenshot is what internet said I'll have to pay. ( Oh I got pissed) Cuz I felt like, I was just lied to but that was far from the case. I texted Logan at the number on Google map and he responded that was incorrect and if I did go through with the payment he could fix it. I told him I deleted my card when I seen that craziness. So we discuss that I will be coming into the gym tomorrow and he will set up my membership for the price he quoted me on the phone. That my people is great business!!!!!

Energym has been an awesome place to workout. The gym is spacious and has tons of equipment, you name it and they probably have it. The best thing is the equipment isn’t all on top of each other. They also have a room for stretching, classes, etc. The staff is extremely friendly and is a great place to get some cardio and a lift in when I get off shift. You don’t need to have a key card attached to your car keys either, you can buzz yourself in from the app on your phone, and it is a 24 hour gym!

I was visiting the area and asked if I could drop in to the Alta road location for a few days. The staff was super friendly and while the place is not the biggest gym I’ve ever seen it had everything you could ask for in a gym.

It has a power rack, deadlift platform, smith machine, a great combination of free weight stations, dumbbells, cable towers, weight machines and cardio machines. The gym was clean and had a super friendly vibe. I wish there was a gym like this in my home area. I would sign up in a flash.

If you live in North Jacksonville and are looking for a gym, you should check this place out.

This is a great gym on main Street. The facility has some great new and old school equipment. I work out here about once a year with a day pass. They have equipment you don't find too much anymore and it's a joy to be in the old school environment. I've been in physique culture since the late '70s and any professional bodybuilder or power builder would love this place. It has 24 hours access, sauna and of course the heavy duty machines dumbbells and plate loaded equipment. Really enjoyed it! The day passes well worth it if you're coming down for a vacation, you don't have to skip a workout. We are friendly acquaintances with Scott and Gail who used to own this facility and building, the new owners have improved and maintained everything very well. All the equipment I used on my last workout worked perfect. Highly recommend this place.

I heard great things about EnerGym so I had to check it out myself. And boy, I was not disappointed! They have two great locations and both facilities are worth the $$. While there, I looked into their group fitness classes and yes even as a guy I was willing to try them out. One in particular was the MixxedFit class taught by Pamela Burr. Amazing class and amazing instructor. I burned a ton of calories and fulfilled my cardio goal for the day. I will def be returning for more future MixxedFit classes!

I use to go to this gym when it was Anytime Fitness. Recently I decided to go back and get into shape and found out that Anytime closed and is now EnerGym NorthJax. This location hosts new, vibrant, colors and overall just looks amazing! The equipment looks new and well maintained as well as the staff being very friendly and helpful. This Gym is nice overall but management needs to get it together. Last year I opened a membership and cancelled it with it within a month. I went in person and they agreed to let me and my husband cancel and even allowed us to sign paperwork stating we were good to go. A month later August 2023, I get billed again and attempt to contact them. They almost never answer the phone and when they follow up through text never resolve the issue. I submitted a dispute with my bank and then they called me and asked why, after I explained they said they solved it on their end because we were not supposed to be allowed to cancel within that short period. But since an employee allowed it they said they’d honor. Fast forward to now April, they haven’t been charging me all these months I realize they charged my card again March 26th. Called, again no answer??

Forgot to mention how we signed up in North Jax and when we went to cancel they couldn’t find our names in this location because the girl had accidentally signed us up for the other location. I have never even been there!

EDIT: shortly after writing this review and leaving a message someone contacted me to try and “solve the issue”. They are claiming because of an update on software some accounts were reactivated but they had already issued a refund to those customers, which I have not received nor was I notified by email, phone call or any other way. He was also trying to clear up the situation with the cancellation last year which only made it worse. If you guys want to avoid having these type of issues with customers you need to get better at communicating with customers. If I go in person and cancel and you allow me to do so, you cannot backtrack and say that it was a request when that was never stated by anyone. Additionally, instead of arguing you should admit your team just messed up instead of trying to blame the customer for an issue you created. I would’ve had no problem paying a cancellation fee if that’s what was required because that is the standards. But instead this process was dragged by mistakes your employees made. I go by what you tell me since that is your establishment. I hope to never have to hear from you all again!

The staff at this gym was absolutely amazing and their selection of equipment for the size of the facility was impressive. However their business practices only have themselves in mind and do not care about the customer at all. I moved and needed to cancel. The first response was that I had to physically come in and sign the cancellation form. Then once I reiterated that I am no longer in the area they said it could be emailed but I would still be charged for next month because of the “billing cycle”. Let me make this perfectly clear, my monthly bill is due November 6th and the date of my cancellation is October 25th. Absurd. After telling them I would just dispute the charge with my bank they told me that it would just create an on going balance for my account. I am a month to month member and pay a premium for this as I did not sign any long term contract. They said that the final “charge” would be waved…. As uncle Joey would say, do better.

*EDIT* per response by owner I would just like to say that there is absolutely no reason a gym would need a 30 day notice for cancellation besides trying to con customers out of money. You see bad business practices like this everywhere. Hide fees and terms for the unsuspecting but as soon as there is pushback you wave all of the ridiculous terms. I work with contracts for a living and you can put absolutely anything you want in there but 90% has no legal weight or value. Simply put, you should treat your customers like friends and family not just dollar signs for you to extort. If I pay a premium to be a month to month customer than I have the right to cancel anytime I please.

Update November 15th 2023, I was contacted so many times for this review by the company that I nearly blocked communications. Eventually they subsided until I read an email today following up in a nice and professional matter. As I read through the email I was impressed by their articulation until I read this paragraph that I can only interpret as a professional way of telling me to be careful what I say online as it could impact my job. “ While it’s clear you hold a significant position in the industrial machinery manufacturing sector (My employer which I have removed for the review), we believe personal matters and professional roles should remain separate, especially in public discussions. Our intention is always to resolve issues directly and amicably with our members.”. This is where I draw the line and urge all current members and potential future members to think about the type of management for this business and their morals. I truly hope every person has a better experience than this but from what I have dealt with I would say that is unlikely.

I’ve been coming to this gym for 6 months now. I started back going to the gym after 3 years of not going and I didn’t want to get back into a big chain gym like I was in before. I took a tour with Miss G, who was more than happy to show me around, and she has since greeted me with a warm welcome every time I come through the doors. All of the staff are great. The equipment is all great and very well kept. I can tell the other gym members really take pride in this gym and help keep everything in shape and in its place. This is a great gym! I've lived on the north side of Jacksonville for the better part of 15 years and pass by this place all the time, but have held a membership at the UNF gym for a while now. It's very inconvenient with my schedule to drive over the bridge to work out, so I tried this place and Adam was very kind and gave me a tour. It's very clean, has all the equipment I want, and most importantly was close to my house. Adam suggested I try their new location on Main St. by the Winn Dixie since I'm a powerlifter and it's a lot bigger. Going to try that location next, but I'm definitely getting a membership at either this location or both!

I visited this gym to attend Sarah's MixxedFit class. I've never had so much fun working out! Sarah is so welcoming and puts a lot of energy into her MixxedFit class. She will make you feel right at home with her encouragement and positive attitude. The routines are easy to follow for all experience levels. I joined this gym after seeing great reviews and finding out about their classes. After trying Danielle's zumba class on Monday and Sarah's Mixxedfit class on Tuesday, I knew I wasn't going anywhere. I was the first and only person in the Mixxedfit class for Sarah's first class and I left out wanting more, she is amazing. Ever since that first day her class continued to grow. I've invited my friends to come and brought one in last week and she loved it. Mixxedfit is an amazing way to not only lose weight, but tone and it's so fun!! With Sarah instructing you'll forget you're working out until you have to grab water and see all the sweat that your body has produced. She has a positive attitude and helps us to keep pushing ourselves, she reminds us to not compare ourselves to others and just keep moving. She shows us ways to adjust the movements if we have to. If you haven't tried MixxedFit you have to come out and try it with Sarah, you will not regret it. If anything you'll want to return over and over again. Danielle is by far one of the best Zumba instructors I've ever had and I enjoy her class too. I would definitely invite people to come on over to EnerGYM NorthJAX and check these ladies out!!

I visit Jax frequently to see my son. I came into town for his graduation and I knew I’d be here for a week and didn’t want to not work out for a whole week. I messaged Energym and within a couple hours, I got a reply from the owner Brad. I wasn’t sure if he allowed drop in members but he assured me he did and asked me to come in the next morning. I went in, got quickly signed up and was on my way to a great workout. They have some fabulous equipment and I was really happy with my experience. This gym is very accepting to new members getting back into the grind. The owner - Bradley is a friend i went to school with and always been a stand up man. As i train and lose weight for my next career path, the staff team has been very accommodating and friendly even so far as to check on me as im recovering from organ failure. it shows the true southern hospitality that we need more of in our community. My husband and I joined this gym in January and we love it. The owner is super sweet, smart, and ambitious.
He personally met us on a Sunday and gave us a tour and signed us up. This gym is close to home and they have everything we need to get in a good workout. I have never seen it over crowded which makes it nice to not have to wait for equipment. The gym is clean, the equipment works great, the staff is very friendly. I love that it's open 24 hrs, therefore we can workout anytime. I would definitely recommend this gym.

Great gym!!! I'm one of the more"seasoned" members that works out here on a regular basis, but instead of being cocky and stuffy, most all of the younger folks that I interact with are very helpful and accommodating, especially when I ask for advice about a machine or a technique.
