I’ve been a member there for many years. I understand there is an air conditioning problem. I have been patient. Today it was 76 inside the gym. There was a huge fan sitting close to the ladies restroom. I went to the front desk to see if it could be plugged in. It was plugged in several times when it was so really hot in there. One of the girls told another to plug it in before she left. I waited and no one came. I started back up to the front desk and ran into one of the girls up there. I asked if she was coming to plug the fan in. No. I said someone was supposed to come plug it in. She said she would go ask. I went back and waited. NOTHING!! I’m very upset that as a paying longtime member my concern wasn’t even addressed. They could have come and told me if they couldn’t plug it in but for the life of me I can’t understand why it couldn’t be. I would have been happy to plug it in. They weren’t busy. Courtesy should always be a given!!

Although I am currently not a member in this facility, I considered the YMCA especial due to the good history we had. This year I finally had flexibility to enroll the kids for swimming, basketball and volleyball. We were having an amazing summer with all 3 sports, until today sadly. I enrolled my 4 year old for swimming lessons. The first class on 7/1/25, there were 4 kids total. We came in, signed our name upfront and proceeded to the pool. Male instructor greeted us I believe his name is Alex (thin/tall young guy, wavy dark hair, with polished nails). Classes started and ended, nothing else transpired. During our second class on 7/8/25, there was literally ONE KID and that happened to be merely my 4 year old boy. At the end of that lesson, I asked the male instructor and another lady by the pool if we were forced to attend all classes every week, meaning did we have flexibility because we had potential family trips to plan the next 2 weeks. YMCA staff responded not, you can come whenever. NEVER, NOT ONCE WAS I TOLD THAT IF I MISSED THE CLASS, WE WOULD FORFEIT SAME. I NEVER GOT READING MATERIALS NOR DO I REMEMBER ANY SIGNS, PAPERS OR EMAILS. My toddler missed the 2 classes because we were told it was ok. On today's date 8/5/25, we showed up ready for lessons and were told by YMCA female instructor that we forfeited those 2 classes. I explained the above, at which time the director had to be called. Shannon essentially confirmed the same thing. I asked why didn't Alex specify this information when I asked back on 7/8/25 at which time she apologized and stated it was on their website. Talk about poor customer service!! Shannon got offended when I told my 4 year old that per the YMCA, we couldn't swim to prevent a huge temper tantrum/scene. I'm the one who lost money, not you Shannon. As I'm saying goodbye to the other 2 parents sitting nearby, to my disbelief they mentioned that when they attended their first day of swimming lessons - ALL PARENTS RECEIVED A HARD COPY/PAPER STATING THAT IF YOU MISSED A CLASS, YOU LOST THAT CLASS!! WHY DIDNT I GET SAID PAPER? THEIR STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY, BUT CERTAINLY THERE IS LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND INCONSISTENT PROCEDURES/PRACTICES. ALL NEW PARENTS SHOULD RECEIVE THAT FORM. Why would one set of parents get papers and I didn't? Me? the single mom of 3 who running around like crazy so that my children remain active and healthy. YMCA - PLEASE NOTE THAT PEOPLE WORK HARD FOR THEIR MONEY. Life is also very expensive, and thus, these types of miscommunication should not occur. Your staff should have consistency and confirm with all parents not only some. You had 1 kid during the class on July 8th - ONE KID!!! There should have been no reason for miscommunication to occur. I would understand if the place was packed and there were interruptions/distractions. Swimming is important in Florida hence why I signed up all 3 of my kids with the YMCA now and prior years. I was going to enroll the kids to sports again, but I'm not so sure now. Why would Shannon not try to correct the mistake YOUR STAFF CLEARLY MADE by allowing the kid to swim??? She said that if spoke to anyone else at the Y, that I would receive the same information. CLEARLY IF THAT WERE TRUE, THE INSTRUCTOR ALEX AND OTHER STAFF WOULD HAVE RESPONDED AS FOLLOWS "No ma'am, you are not forced, but remember you would lose those classes"!!!! Now I would either like my money back or my 4 year old to finish his 2 classes. I paid for 4 classes - not 2. You can also do nothing and lose my business!! My poor kid cried for 1.5 hours. The entire ride home he was kicking my car seat which is not safe but he still learning to control his temper. The kid was so excited to go to lessons, he even forgot to put on his shoes when we left the house. I think it's particularly ridiculous that all parents don't get the same treatment or in this case, notice of forfeiture if classes missed. Thanks.

I took my son to the ymca for summer camp and the first few weeks he loved it. Towards the end he kept telling me he was getting bullied and I was like oh no they are just boys being boys. At the end I just took him out because I didn’t want him feeling that way anymore. They staff seem nice there was one lady that had an attitude with me seemed like she didn’t want to be there. But overall it’s the YMCA

I am writing this review because I am not sure who to talk to in person. My kids take swimming classes at the Golden Triangle YMCA. Today unfortunately we come to find out that the class is cancelled due to the weather only after coming to the YMCA and they made us wait until the class time is over. We didn't get any phone calls or an email notification that the class is cancelled beforehand as mentioned during registration. This wasted an hour time for us. We would appreciate prior notification if the class is cancelled. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Siempre estuve dispuesta a pagar esa clase .
Aprovecho para añadir que mientras los pequeños toman sus clases hay personas mayores con trajes de baños que a la vista se ve partes íntimas con pelos ,incluso el año pasado nadaban muy cerca del área de la clase ,no tenía cuidado.

The facility is nice, gym is clean and usually avaliable but customer service is terrible. It says a different time online than the actual time they close and I was showering there as I am homeless, but when I tried explaining that it said 5 online and not 3 I was met with a rude sneer and aggressively being rushed out by the older man in the gym with the glasses. No communication or care in the world. If it weren't for this I'd actually love going there.

I appreciate the friendly staff and the effort they've made to improve the facility over time. That said, the building and equipment are quite old, which is understandable but worth noting.
My main concern is the consistently warm pool temperature. The YMCA’s posted policy states a target range of 80°–83°F, yet the water is frequently at 83°, 84°, or even 85°F—uncomfortably warm for lap swimming and above their stated range. Despite repeated feedback, the heaters remain set to 83°, and requests to lower the temperature slightly (to 81° or 82°) have been dismissed.
This is especially frustrating because other multi-use pools in the area manage to maintain more swimmer-friendly temperatures. It would be great to see the Y take this feedback seriously and adjust their practices to better reflect their stated policy—especially for those of us who rely on lap swimming for fitness.

I stopped in yesterday (04/21/25) to ask about membership. I was greeted pleasantly and the lady (she got off at 11, I can’t remember her name) was so helpful. She then handed me off to a young lady for a short tour. She made me feel right at home and more than welcome. Then a young lady helped me fill out the information sheet and she went over the different plans. She was friendly and efficient.
One of these girls was named Kelly. I can’t remember which. But both were wonderful.
Everyone I encountered made me think I was going to enjoy the time I spend there.

I really enjoyed my first day working out in the gym area with the machines. Was happy to see there were paper towels and cleaner for using the machines before and after but disappointed to see many men not using it and sweating profusely during using a piece of equipment and just walking away after using it. It was disgusting but I was able to clean before using . Otherwise excited to keep coming and will most likely upgrade in future for classes. I have a friend I will be meeting for lunch next week who is interested in joining 😊

I finally made it back to the "Y" for the first time since covid hit. I think it is a great facility, but was disappointed that my Silver Sneakers membership no longer covered all areas and programs. Very basic now, just covering the gym (if I wanted to shoot some hoops), and the workout area with machines and weights. I'll miss access to the pool and though I hadn't participated, I'll miss access to the various health and fitness programs previously available. Still, I'm glad it's there and am trying to ease myself back into a routine as safely as possible without any guidance.

My grandson is playing soccer there this spring/summer. It was very unorganized and they didn't even have any coaches when they started the season.
They should have coaches lined up ahead of time. If I knew anything about soccer I would step up and coach but I'm a football guy. I coached football for 13 years from little league all the way through high school with my son. I know how hard it is finding coaches and you have to start asking waayyyyy early in order to be ready when the season starts. Luckily we had a couple of high school girls step up to the plate and they did a good job with the kids in the short time they had to work with them. The season is over next week. My grandson loves playing soccer. I hope the next league they have is better because kids these days need to be out of the house playing and being kids. Not on a video game or watching TV. Overall we love the Y. I just hope management gets it together before next season.

At the YMCA, I found a welcoming environment with services and programs that are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, especially for newcomers like myself. With spacious workout areas, indoor and outdoor pools for year-round enjoyment, a variety of classes to choose from, and a well-equipped gym, it's easy to find activities that suit my fitness goals and interests.

My family and I are new to the area and are looking for a gym to frequent. We visited this gym and received a tour of the facility. The staff who assisted us were extremely nice and professional. Unfortunately this has been the worst facility we've set foot in. The gym reeks of mildew. Every area is extremely dark or badly lit. The machines appear to have been around since the last world war. Being motivated to work out is already difficult as it is - knowing I'd have to come to this location would make it near impossible. I would not feel incentivize to recommend this facility to anyone. Additionally the showers in the restroom weren't maintained properly - the shower curtains were hanging on a single cord - there was also underwear on the floor in the middle of the restroom during our tour. As if that all isn't bad enough - the pricing and the different price tiers are exorbitant given the quality of this facility. You're better off paying a bit less somewhere else for a lot more.

The fact that the Golden triangle YMCA does not have ping pong tables which they could easily set up on three corners of the basketball court is overcompensated by its three indoor pickleball nets set up from 11-2 on the same basketball court. I’ve read the huge number of good reviews and went there intending to join. Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, there’s no other way to put it, the place just smelled bad and was dirty. Also the exercise equipment was in a dark, depressing room. The locker room leading to the pool not only had dirty floors and a really bad smell, but also had towels and junk strewn around. Even after leaving the building I still had the foul smell in my system for awhile. For what they charge, there are more desirable options.

I’d give this place 3.5-4 stars. Things I like, it’s def family friendly, the pool area is nice and large, staff is very friendly, this isn’t a gymbro type of place where you might feel intimidated working out. They seem to have many classes if that’s your thing. Now the downside, the weight area is in desperate need of an upgrade, many machines are unavailable due to not working. They don’t have enough of popular machines like the leg press, Pec dec fly, cable machine. Free weight area can feel very cramped even if there are only 4-5 people in it. They definitely need to upgrade/fix equipment, add a couple more of the popular machines and maybe consider rearranging the setup of the weight area to better the flow. Also extending hours a bit on Saturday or adding a shortened schedule on Sunday would be awesome. Overall it’s decent gym depending on your needs

Awful volleyball coach. Only pays attention to players who have prior experience, leaving the kids with none to just stand there feeling awful... or maybe cause the whole squad is young white girls and the 2 new girls are dark skins 🤔... the staff is very unprofessional and no communication skills... we drove twice 45 minutes one-way, when the kids first started going here, to find out after sitting their waiting, that practice was canceled, what a disappointment...

Personalized and Family 👪activities are not in short supply here. And membership is not as expensive as most health clubs.

Their swimming pool is so much larger than our pool in Lake Wales. I didn't think I was ever going to reach the end of the lane, lol! But our turn is coming, with our expansion in the future. The personnel were all extremely nice, and I appreciated that very much. I'm trying to encourage my cousin who lives there to join the YMCA. It would be very beneficial to her.

I want to start off by saying the staff is always friendly. However, the building is old and could use significant renovations. I frequently use the gym and although there are plenty of machines, they are pretty old and beat up. Only 1 incline/decline bench, 1 squat rack, and the leg press is fairly old. There’s about 3 chest machines but only one back machine to load plates. Overall, it seems they have plenty to do there for families. I only use the gym therefore cannot speak for other amenities there.

Awful basketball coach. Only pays attention/plays with students who gave prior experience, leaving the kids with none to just stand there feeling awful. I have been asking for a refund since the coach never showed this last time around and honestly in not quite sure what else is going on. Never heard back. The water safety program had instructors who spent an egregious amount of time flirting with the life guard. Bathrooms/showers are disgusting and you are forced the walk through them just to get to the pool area. NOT Okay.
