If I could give a half star I would. I have been going to this gym for almost a year and had no issues. Yesterday I went at a time unusual for me. When I got there,sales woman with dark hair never greeted me( just stared me up and down). It was a little crowded when I got there so I got a kettle to workout in another area. This dark haired woman, came behind me, made eye contact and took it back without ever speaking a word to me or ask me any questions. I went and asked her why did she do that, she said “ you can’t use the kettle ball in the sauna”. I told her that I wasn’t planning on using kettle ball in sauna andI asked is it ok if I use it elsewhere. She said “Oh, I didn’t know. I’m sorry. That’s ok..” I took the kettle back and finished my workout. As I was leaving, the same sales woman, who still hasn’t introduced herself says “I saw you in the sauna only using the HotWorx towel and that’s against the rules. You can’t be here if you won’t follow the rules,” I said “ Ma’am you have been being weird since I got here. I am doing the same things I have always done. I don’t like the wood mat because it gets slippery. You haven’t even said hello or told me your name but you keep following me around talking about I don’t need to be here if I can’t follow the rules. I have been very respectful of your building and it’s equipment. If I’m doing something wrong I don’t mind being told but your energy is ruining my workout.” I called to express my concerns to the owner of the gym and she told “my employee did nothing wrong.” I expressed to her that her employee was borderline racial profiling, never spoke, never introduced herself, accused me of breaking rules that I am willing to follow when I know what the rules are and that I don’t mind being redirected (professionally and respectfully) when I am doing something wrong and that her employee behavior was not appropriate, helpful, professional ect. The owner, with a very flippant/dismissive tone said “my employee must just been having a bad day.” I go to Hotworx to disconnect and practice self care. I don’t have an issue with rules (I believe they keep the environment safe) but I do believe a sales associate should be able to convey the rules, culture and policies of facility (especially to a long time customer who has never caused any issues) without making the customer feel embarrassed, disrespected and humiliated.

And let me add that the owner says she reviewed the cameras but she can’t hear what the employee was saying to me and you CAN see her following me, taking the weight and then giving me permission to take it back, stopping me on the way out as I was leaving to tell “why did you only put a towel down in the sauna, that is also against the rules, I haven’t seen you before, did Katie give you permission to only use Hotworx towel?” This employee NEVER said hello..NEVER introduced herself as an employee…The sauna made eye contact with me, took the weight and walked off…this was her how she acted the entire time I was there. All the owner had to do was apologize but she KEEPS defending this employee’s unprofessional behavior!

Update: As you can see the owner is not taking responsibility for the actions of her employee that made one of her long time customers uncomfortable. I have been going to that gym for over a year now and I have had no issues until I went there that day. I had not been doing anything that I would not normally do. Also, I have been reminded of “rules” before in a professional, non threatening way and things were fine. The owner refuses to let me out of my contract so I will continue to go to this gym. I will also continue to make reviews about my visits on here as a way to keep this establishment honest. Racial profiling is very real and this white owner’s flippant dismissal of my experience says a lot about her whole establishment.

Making the choice to join Hotworx was hands down one of the best decisions I’ve made! As a working mom of three boys, it makes it easy to get in an effective workout in less time. I.LOVE.HOTWORX! It has truly changed my life and in 3 months I'm stronger, feeling little to no pain in my knees and shoulders. Its been a rehabbing game changer and getting back me back to strength training. I recently went on vacation, so upgraded from pay in full to sweat everywhere. Searching for a Hotworx between my home studio in Jacksonville Fl to Ashville NC felt like a grown up version of Pokémon Go. I fell off the interstate in Pooler Ga to get a workout in on my way up...and back down. Greenville staff as well as Ashville were polite(Spartanburg needs a HW), but I have to say our HW at the SJTC is head and shoulders above all...thanks to Karah the gen manager. She is beyond polite...always smiling...always moving, cleaning, and available to help. I encountered some things in other studios that made me think "wow...my Hotworx would never...." It's not that every studio is not great because Hotworx is great...its just that Karah is awesome. I tell all my friends about HW and have gotten one to join and number two is on her way to. Keep up the good work and thanks for everything.

I joined Hotworx in Tallahassee and loved that location! However, this location I have not had the best experience. Just note you cannot go to any location that is convenient once you sign up at one, you are contracted to that one and you will have a cancellation fee. The staff and owner were not very welcoming and overall just not a great vibe from this location. Hotworx overall is a great workout so I would recommend a different location!

Hands down one of the best workout studios! I love the fact that there are instructors on the screen broken down to modified versions of the workout ! The cardio classes, 15 minutes in and out and go on with your day!

The benefits of working out in an infrared sauna are amazing how you feel after is even better! Having the free weights in the back is a great addition to the membership! The fact it’s open 24 hours seven days a week what more could you ask for! Clean friendly staff!

I will never visit this location again thanks to Damon Philbeck. Upon arrival, Damon immediately approached us and asked me to sign in as a guest which I had no issue with. My bf and I were both a bit caught off guard with his rude demeanor but let it go. He later came up to us and told me there were notes I had been in several times as a guest. I tried to explain I hadn’t been in over a year and before then I had visited maybe 2-3 times…honestly 2-3 times. Damon said there were notes of me visiting after hours and that I had been in SEVERAL times. I went to speak with him letting him know I was concerned I was being mixed up with someone else (which was a genuine concern) because I genuinely had never been to this location several times. He was very rude and sarcastic, which I couldn’t understand why exactly as I was very nice to him. I tried to question if they were saying I was showing up all the time without registering as a guest at the front, how would it be a positive identification it was in fact me and why wouldn’t I have been notified during one of these “several” times that I wasn’t allowed. I only was trying to get clarification because I honestly have not been to this location like that. It was later discovered that the time slot my bf signed up for was taken by a guest who had not reserved it, but Damon didn’t approach them at all. However, We were spoken to 3 different times within 15 minutes. We couldn’t understand his demeanor towards us and were later approached by the other young lady working there that she had tried to rectify the issue and she hoped we hadn’t taken his behavior as harassment. Which to me was a clear indication she could see that only my bf and I were being targeted. Others walked in, and were not questioned at all. My bf recently rejoined as a member and told me to come along as a guest to get back to the sauna feeling before signing up. I whole heartedly was ready to sign up as a member of hotworx after dealing with illness this passed year. However, after my experience with Damon I will NEVER return to this facility. I had told a few coworkers about trying it out before visiting today, but now I will be warning them of my experience here letting them know other places here in Jax have MUCH better customer service. I usually wouldn’t write such a lengthy review but I have never been treated so poorly for no reason at all, and especially to be accused of something I did not do. I will happily take my business elsewhere. 😊 Thank you.

Well owner was rude! They wound up making me leave after I had a medical issue. They hired this one individual who was very rude . The girls at night making tic toc videos of themselves dancing . This place has been my sanctuary for two years. Most of the negative reviews appear suspicious. They look like they are from ONE bitter person, posing as several people writing their first review. Or, perhaps, they are from an unscrupulous competitor.
The staff is extremely friendly, the place is super clean, and the policy is clear.
I am a Veteran, grandmother, and a well-educated, small business owner.
If this place deserved a negative review, I would write one.
My number one platform to stand against, is racism. I have petitioned, spoken and fought against it, and have even written a Google Review on a truly racist establishment.
I would suggest Google evaluate the negative reviews, and consider the fact NONE of those people were members of this establishment.
As for those who unfairly wrote them, Karma is real.

24 hours. Most of the time you will get a sauna to yourself. Workouts are intermediate to advanced IMO . In the beginning the workouts were super hard but my strength and balance had increased greatly since I began.

This is the best gym / workout facility I’ve ever been a member of - I literally drive 40 miles (1 hour one way) to get a workout in because there is nothing like it around! The workouts are amazing with the sauna and infrared impact immediately felt during and post workout. Additionally, from my travels and usage of other Hotworx facilities around the state, this is the cleanest facility with the nicest staff. I highly recommend Hotworx Jacksonville!

It is open 24/7 so if you have an atypical work schedule, this is a great way to get in a workout if you can't get in to the gym on a particular day. This location is clean and well-maintained. I am a new member to Hotworx but have already gone to the studio more than I ever really have to any gym I’ve joined and phased out from. I love the independent workout while still feeling like part of a community. The 24 hour access is amazing for a busy gal on the go like me. The workouts are highly effective in a shorter period of time and I am really enjoying the diversity of their workout catalog. Favorite gym I’ve been to with an amazing staff. I love the virtual training, it helps give me the structure i was missing in my workouts and i finally feel energized after a work out instead of burnt out which always prompted me to stop show up. I love the app where it tracks my calories.

Super clean gym and friendly staff. You will have a mobile app to unlock the door for safety and easy access. I personally wasn’t a fan when they stopped allowing solo sessions. It’s a relatively small sauna and having to coordinate with a stranger on temperature, volume, etc. was uncomfortable for me so I cancelled.

You sign up everything is great, they tell you no cancellation fees and when life turns it’s ugly head and you have to cancel they hit you with you have to pay an extra 2 months to cancel. Very disappointed, I was going to sign back up when things get settled, but nah I’m good.

Great options inside the saunas and out, bicycles with video instructors are fun, we had a medical issue that forced us to stop the workouts and the staff was very understanding and the owner even called to check on us even though the issue had nothing to do with the company, just doctors orders. It's nice to still see a company taking the old school approach to customer service and appreciation, we will definitely be back as soon as the doctor clears us. A+ 💯

Absolutely love coming here! I have hypothyroidism, loosing weight has been nothing but challenging for me the past couple years since being diagnosed. No matter how much I worked out and ate healthy, I could not loose a pound. Since starting the infrared sauna workouts a few months ago, I am finally seeing the weight come off.
