Extremely grateful that our daughter joined Jacksonville Strength. She started lifting in high school as a sophomore with zero experience. Wanting to get better and improve her technique she heard about Jacksonville Strength and went for a visit. She was provided lifting technique training as well as strength accessories to improve her overall lifting movements. Fast forward to Junior year, she was on the podium for counties, double district champion for her weight class, placed in the top 7 for regionals and if off to STATE Competition in both Olympic and Traditional! Her improvement is a testament to their training. Can't say enough about the support, dedication and mentorship of the coaches at Jacksonville Strength. If your an athlete and want to improve your technique and strength, look no further!

I cannot give this gym enough stars, my 15 year old son has been training under Chad and Jen for a year and half and the results are beyond words. Not only his physic noticably changed but his mindset and confidence have vastly improved.
Workouts change daily and focus not only on strength but flexibility, and overall body fitness.
The atmosphere is nothing short of the definition supportive from the coaches and fellow lifters. It's not just a gym, it's a family.

Update: The response is completely fabricated. My body alignment needed lots of work to be able to even attempt the lifts - who am I to question a coaches direction, programming or educate clientele? Completely false. Outside of saying hello/goodbye or asking for feedback on lifts from coaches, there was never any conversation with anyone (period!) as I am naturally shy. Programming was followed completely and billing changes were always discussed for coach approval - and the response was always ‘you pick, you listen to your body’. Worst case, ask me to leave respectfully - you will not disrespect me ever again. Life will take care of you and me both, either way. Luckily, there is no shortage of group fitness gyms. I wish you success.

There were several instances where Coach Chad’s voice became noticeably louder/abrasive. While no inappropriate language was used, the manner in which he communicated was highly disrespectful, especially with paying clients. His gestures, coupled with an often dissatisfied or stern facial expression, only added to the discomfort. It seems that Coach Chad shows favoritism, and at times, even fabricating situations to push certain clients away.

I was there for my health, not to compete. There were five or six specific instances when his outbursts at me specifically crossed a line. At first I questioned what I could change so he would speak to me respectfully at a bare minimum. To avoid confrontation, I chose to remain silent - but the ongoing disrespect eventually led to my decision to leave.

Respect for paying clients should always be paramount. If a client is not a good fit, it would be more appropriate to professionally explain to the client why their membership cannot continue or to restructure the offerings to attract the desired clientele.

On a positive note, the programming was great and coaches Jen and Ava were always incredibly kind/supportive. Observing fellow weightlifters was a great source of motivation.

This review is not intended to offend but to provide an honest perspective. I hope it serves as constructive feedback and encourages more thoughtful communication in the future.

I can’t say enough good things about Jacksonville Weightlifting and the Coaches! When I first started, my numbers were decent, but with his expert guidance, I’ve seen significant improvements across the board. He has an incredible eye for technique and always knows exactly what adjustments to make to maximize performance.

One of the standout aspects of his coaching is how he handles injuries. I faced a few setbacks, but he was always there with tailored advice and modifications to my training plan, ensuring I could continue to train safely and effectively. His deep understanding of how the body functions has been a game-changer for me, helping me not only recover but come back stronger.

During competitions, his positive attitude and unwavering support were truly inspiring and helps me through competition anxiety . He kept me focused and motivated, which made a huge difference in my performance. His encouragement and strategic insights were invaluable. If you’re looking for a coach who genuinely cares about your progress and well-being, I highly recommend Jacksonville Weightlifting and Coach Chad, Jen, and Ava !

Edit: After almost a year i am still IN LOVE WITH THIS GYM! I am a proud memeber of the pwoer lifting team and have increased my strength and over all fitness more than I ever imagined. Still highly recomend!!
(Original review) Such a welcoming environment! Everyone is supportive and inclusive. The layout is open and easy to navigate, the workouts are varied, yet challenging. The place is set up to help you succeed. I love it there and actually look forward to working out. The coach is one of the most supportive and attentive people I have ever met and supports YOUR journey. The facility is clean and had all the equipment you will need to be successful at functional/strength training or Competitive Lifting. Highly recommend.

tl;dr: this is an absolute gem and a great atmosphere. You’ll notice your snatches, clean & jerks, and overall mobility improve rapidly.

At the time of this review, there are multiple beginner programs, an advanced program, and one for competitors. There is also a strength training program if you’re looking to get in shape but don’t like Olympic lifts. So, something for everyone.

This gym is absolutely stacked with competitive athletes, so you’ll get good fast from learning by example.

Chad breaks down the movements from both the top down and bottom up approaches and gives feedback as necessary. There are other coaches intermittently; and everyone has been very knowledgeable and helpful. Chad puts emphasis on technique instead of weight and has told me a few times that I’m going too heavy; I appreciate that.

The facility is separated out into an area for accessory work and an area with platforms for the lifts. Good use of space overall with tons of toys for accessory work and mobility.

It gets incredibly hot in there since this is Jacksonville, so it may be a good idea to take that into account if you have medical issues.

Overall, 10/10

If you're looking for a gym to TRAIN, this is the gym for you. I have tried a variety of fitness classes, studios, and gyms throughout the years. But what I think is really unique about Jax Strength is that even while being in a group setting, the coaches will take the time to genuinely get to know you as an individual. The community also creates a healthy sense of accountability.

If you're just looking for a place to just lightly "workout" here and there, this might not necessarily be the place for you. But this is definitely the place for you, if you're in a season where you are really willing to invest into your physical (and even mental) health.

I did Beginner Oly Weighlifting with Coach Chad and Powerlifting / Functional Strength Training programming with Coach Chris. Both are great and will teach you good form and foundational technique. I felt like I made a lot of progress in terms of my strength and mobility during my 6 month+ time with them while I was temporarily living in Jacksonville. I also plan to come back during future extended stays.

This probably sounds like an ad. But I can sincerely say all this as I was able to reach goals I didn't think I could before :)! Check it out.

Jacksonville strength taught me so much about my form in the powerlifting lifts. I was clueless before going to them in October of last year and improved so so much since starting with them. My circumstances have changed and I can no longer train with them at this time but as soon as I can get it worked out I def want to be back. The knowledge the coaches share between Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting is phenomenal and the whole environment is inviting and also helpful and will progress you in either sport you want to pursue powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting. I would and will 100 percent recommend them to anyone wanting training in those areas and I surely hope to be able to go back at some point. Thank you Jacksonville Strength for helping me and giving me more knowledge to keep growing

Was desperately in need of a coach who understood the art of Olympic weightlifting and knew how to teach it well. Coach Chad is a total SME in all things fitness and physical health. The fact that he is a certified oly trainer is an added bonus.

The gym is small but is well equipped with weights and enough platforms that are perfectly spaced apart to help you maintain focus and get comp ready. His programming is extremely intentional, even the accessory days.

The classes are also pretty cool as the members are demographically diverse and range from really young to elderly in age. It makes for a great atmosphere.

We love Jacksonville Strength & Athletics! The Athletic Performance training has helped my 13 year old son tremendously! The owner/trainer takes the time to explain the exercises thoroughly and provides positive feedback. He creates a challenging and positive environment for learning and growth. The HIIT classes are INTENSE (in a good way)! No matter what workout you try, you will get an AMAZING workout in a clean and friendly environment at Jacksonville Strength & Athletics.

My family of ages 46, 26, 20, 11, and 8 years old have enjoyed and learned form Coach Chad. He has been able to meet each member at their skill level and build on that, not just physically but mentally.
But the best part is seeing our daughter grow in strength and skill and get back to competitive lifting.

Awesome place to weight-lift in Jacksonville! I visit Jacksonville every year for the holidays and have had trouble in the past finding somewhere that had quality equipment to train with. Not only do they have great equipment, they also have great people too. Coach Chad and all of his team members always make me feel welcome whenever I visit. I look forward to training here whenever I go to Jax!
