OMG this place was terrible! Front desk staff, horrible. I'm sorry but smiling is a must the ability to be helpful to visitors would be nice. The equipment was crap and I love dirty old school equipment but it does have to work. I'm at the gym now and at 8:50 they turn the lights off. I know the gym closes at 9:00 p.m. maybe they should have made a few announcements. This is totally tacky and low class the way they close down the gym. Meanwhile you got a worker who works there pushing a cart around with a loud radio on sputtering out loud how much he hates racking the weights. The staff at this gym really need some retraining!

What a disgusting excuse for a gym. The one thing we come here for is to use their machines and they can’t even deliver on repairs. There are machines and even a lot of cardio machines that are broken for over 6 months . In most cases there are only one of its kind. Now, the pectoral fly, which are 2 are now both broken. I’d find another fitness center to join because these don’t really care other than collecting membership fees. It’s like a slum landlord who collects the rent but doesn’t repair anything. There are laws that protect tenants but if you’re a member at LA fitness on 10th you’re just royally screwed. After speaking to an associate, a bald German dude and explaining the frustration, he tells me “if you don’t like it go somewhere else.” I rest my case. I hope tons of people dis-enroll and teach them a lesson.

This is unacceptable — a gym like LA Fitness should not be maintained in these conditions on a daily basis. The machines are broken, the bathrooms are destroyed, with no toilet paper, no cleaning, full of urine and feces. There’s absolutely no service or maintenance in the bathrooms, and almost all the machines are out of order. It’s unacceptable and outrageous that they charge a monthly fee but don’t provide proper maintenance to a gym in such a great location. It seems like the staff isn’t doing their job. My question is, what is the manager of this location doing? Do they even have a manager? They should really review the store manager’s performance.

I’ve been an LA Fitness member for over 20 years. Problem is each LA gym offers no continuity on the customer experience. Some are a mess (no re-racking of weights while staff stands around and appears to be pondering life) while other are on top of their game. At this particular gym, machines go weeeeeeeks without being repaired. Take for example the leg extension machine has been out of commission for 4 weeks now. Of the 2 chest fly machines, one has been out of commission for over 6 weeks and these two machines are “critical” or basic workout machines. The bathrooms (forget the moldy showers 🤮) are god awful disgusting no matter if it is 5am or 1030pm. They used to have a guy wiping down cardio equipment, but now these machines are not clean. I don’t mind wiping down my own sweat and tears but I’m not there to re-organize weights/wipe down machines although I always leave my area better than how I find it… not matter how gross it seems. Tiles fall from the roof each time it rains and I can’t imagine the amount of mold accumulating up there. Kinda worrisome come to think about it… considering the exposure to everyone’s lungs as they expand to full capacity taking in all that gunk.

Instead of having 3-5 bloodsucking sales folks spinning in their chairs just passing the day… put them to work. I’ve seen them use the equipment to get their workout out in and THEY don’t even pick up after themselves as if “someone else will do that”. Take some pride in your workplace.

I spoke to Jessie the Operation manager on the phone. I work in customer solutions at MIA and this gentlemen had an additude. Did not want to help. And made me feel small. It's wrong. I don't agree with how he treats another. This says a lot about how one feels about their self. I can't speak on his own personal life however I can speak on how he managed to still do his job but make me feel so small. It's not right especially when you are supposed to help a person. I have been in the fitness industry for years. This is why I stay in it. Because of people like him in this field who treat others less than. I'm applaud.

The gym seriously needs to pay more attention to hygiene and equipment maintenance. The place smells awful, and it has been like this for a long time. One of the leg machines has been out of order for weeks. There are only two machines to begin with, and with one broken, there is always a line of people waiting. I have been waiting for it to be fixed for three weeks now, and still nothing has changed. It is extremely disappointing that such a basic issue has been ignored for this long.

This club should be avoided. Most of the stairmaster machines are broken and have been broken for many many months. The few that are working have audio jacks that are completely stripped out so you can’t listen to the television sets that are attached. They have had “out of service“ paperwork on them for at least a half a year. Maintenance of the machines is totally deficient.

LA Fitness in Fort Lauderdale is a fantastic gym with excellent amenities. The location feels safe and welcoming, and I especially enjoy relaxing in the sauna and jacuzzi after a tough workout. I’ve been to several locations in the area, and this facility is by far the cleanest and most peaceful gym south of the Oakland Park location. Even though I have three or four gyms closer to my apartment in Hollywood, I choose to make the drive here because of the consistently great environment. It’s clear that management takes pride in the space. I’ve personally seen staff walking the floor, picking up weights inside and even picking up trash outside the building.

One small idea that could make the member experience even better would be to have a mat cleaning station in the stretching area. At another facility, I saw a simple setup with a long-handled cleaning pad and a wall-mounted spray bottle, allowing members to quickly wipe down mats before and after use. Something similar could fit discreetly near the vending machines and would help keep the stretching area feeling fresh all day long.

Another small enhancement might be adjusting the timing of vacuuming and floor cleaning in the locker rooms to outside of operating hours.

If vacuuming has to happen during operating hours, something I’ve seen at other facilities, which allow for quicker, quieter cleaning without disrupting member flow but still creating a perception of ongoing-going sanitation, is cordless vacuums.

Overall, this location is doing an outstanding job. The staff clearly cares, and it shows. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a clean, welcoming, and enjoyable environment to work out in. I’m truly grateful to have this gym as part of my routine!

03/2025 update… We’ve had machines broken for over 2 months. This is THE WORST LA Fitness in South Florida

They’ve been out of paper towels for about 3 days now. Paper towels. Just air dry your hands or wipe it on your clothes. They charge you over $100 for a yearly gym maintenance fee, but nothing has changed or improved at this a gym in the past 3 years I’ve been going here. There are better gyms around. Avoid this one.

This whole company can’t figure out how to keep their Jacuzzi and sauna is working. It’s very disappointed. I actually freeze my account and unfroze it only to find that all of the Jacuzzis in my area are broken and nobody knows when they’re gonna get fixed.

The buck doesn’t stop anywhere and people just put the responsibility on somebody else. It’s quite frustrating.

I am visiting the area for the week, and found a promotion on the LA Fitness website for a three day free pass. Upon arriving, I was told that promotion is not valid. So, I was asked to leave a 5 star review to get a free day. I obliged, but am now editing my review to be truthful. The individual who I worked with while checking in was understanding and kind. However, the majority of the equipment was old, grimy, work out, or out of service. Handles were generally worn out and difficult to grip. The dumbbells also were missing quite a few weights, and had odd numbers of the more commonly used weights. Also, quite a few of the toilets were out of service as well. I would not recommend the location.

I workout in Hialeah, Miami Gardens and Pembroke Pines mainly and I have never seen an employee like the one you have at this location.
He not only keeps everything uber organized, like everything put away in the right place but he keeps the area cleaner than I've ever seen in any LA Fitness.
His name is Ramiro Guido. He works the night shift.
I'm a facility manager for a parking company and I can tell you from experience that he takes real ownership of his position.
The LA Fitness's down south are a disaster compared to this one.
I noticed it immediately when i walked in over a year ago. Wow!
Congratulations on finding such a gem of an employee in this market where no one wants to work anymore.
