Been an on-and-off LA Fitness member for over a year now, and after reading literally thousands of reviews across Yelp, Google, Reddit, and everywhere else, here’s the honest, no-BS summary that matches what pretty much everyone says:
It’s the ultimate “you get what you pay for” gym. For the price (still one of the cheapest national chains with month-to-month options), you get a ridiculous amount of locations, decent equipment variety, a pool, basketball courts, and free group classes. If you just want to show up, lift, do some cardio, maybe swim or shoot hoops, and leave, it does the job better than most places in this price range. Off-peak hours can actually feel halfway decent plenty of machines, shorter waits, and the vibe is tolerable.
Now the part literally everyone complains about (because it’s true):
Cleanliness is a coin flip. Some days it’s fine, other days the locker room smells like regret and the equipment is sticky.
Stuff breaks and stays broken forever saunas, hot tubs, half the cable machines, you name it.
Towel service? Good luck. Bring your own or prepare to air-dry.
Staff ranges from genuinely cool humans to people who act like you’re bothering them by existing.
Canceling or fixing billing issues? People write horror stories that could be Netflix documentaries. Read the contract twice and screenshot everything.
Bottom line: If your expectations are “affordable big-box gym with tons of locations and I’m not a neat freak,” you’ll be perfectly happy and probably give it 4 stars. If you want spotless, high-end, white-glove service, you’re shopping in the wrong aisle go pay triple for Equinox or Lifetime.
For the money, it’s still a solid 3 stars. Wipe down your own stuff, go at weird hours, and you’ll survive just fine. Millions of us do.

Men's Sauna down for more than 3 weeks. AGAIN .

This place is truly run down. The locker room AC has been leaking for 2 weeks now. They keep replacing the ceiling tiles without fixing the issue. Also, they need to enforce proper dress code. Some guys working out without shirts on, and they don’t enforce the shoe policy ( people wearing opened toed crocs and flip flops). One guy was picking his toenails on the turf while he was “resting” in between sets. Shower stalls missing shower curtains and the shower stalls are disgusting. Someone needs to be held accountable for the lack of care in this place.

Pretty Aggressive - I was there because a friend offered me a free pass to try out the facilities and maybe sign up for it. When I arrived, the manager immediately detained me for 20 minutes while my friend was waiting for me all this time just to try and convince me to sign up for one of his subscriptions. What's the point of a free pass if they're not even going to let you use it before you sign up?

I would have given this club one star a few months ago. However the new manager Vinnie is great. As well as Christian at the front desk. Super friendly. The club has a ways to go, but I’ve noticed significant improvements since Vinnie took charge. The weight room is mostly clear of weights on the floor. Vinnie has responded to all my comments and concerns. Just ask for him if you are having any issues

Hands down the worst LA fitness in south Florida. This morning was the 4th time this month they didn’t open on time. Usually it’s 10-15 minutes but today I waited 45 until I left. How do they only have one person scheduled to open? The place is dirty and the weights are never racked. It’s a shame because the crowd that works out in the morning is super cool and all very respectful. A few months ago I got a new debit card and forgot to update the info. When my payment didn’t go through they certainly didn’t have a shortage of employees and I must have received three calls that day about payment info. It’s a shame none of them were available to open this morning.

Cant even open up on time! 3 times in last month! It was the best la I have never been to, but looks like the Manager that was there is gone now. Literally the last month things have gone to shit.
The young guy that sits in Manager chair seems to not give a dam nor the front desk. I've ask 5 different people kindly to see about picking up weights. I've seen same weights lying in same spot 5 days now in a walk way. DISAPPOINTING!

Visited this LA Fitness while traveling and was impressed by the size of the gym and the wide variety of equipment available—plenty of machines, free weights, and cardio options. Definitely a plus if you like to switch up your workouts.

That said, it was pretty packed during my visit, which made it tough to move around or get into a good flow. What stood out the most, though, was the lack of basic gym etiquette. I’m used to a gym where members wipe down equipment and re-rack their weights, but that didn’t seem to be the norm here.

All in all, a decent gym with good facilities, but the crowdedness and lack of member courtesy were a bit of a downside.

Like many locations in Broward,this is a really nice location. The abs machine is so cool it even lets you target your side abs. The weights are mostly in their place compared to other locations in Miami ,especially the horrendous 123rd. There's a few machines that need reupholstering,though.

I’m a big fan of LA Fitness and truly love the brand, but unfortunately, this particular location is not living up to the standards I’ve come to expect.

The equipment is rusted, there’s an unpleasant odor throughout the gym, and the bathrooms consistently smell like urine. I believe this location would greatly benefit from a deep cleaning and some much-needed updates.

I’m sharing this feedback because I care about the brand and would love to see this gym reflect the quality LA Fitness is known for.

Worst experience ever at LA fitness. Manager Makesh at cypress creek was very rude and unprofessional. He accused me of lying about my pass, faking my ID and said if im not here to spend money today I can get out. I started a 2 week pass at another location 2 days prior and wanted to check out the gym closer to me and he definitely ruined this location for me. I would recommend aventura for their hospitality and extra amenities even if it is a further drive.

The cleanliness of this gym leaves much to be desired.

First and foremost, the gym equipment is not properly maintained. It’s concerning to see that the same mop used for the floors is also used to clean the machines. This practice not only seems ineffective but also raises serious hygiene issues. I’ve personally witnessed crumbs and grime accumulating on various machines, making it hard to feel comfortable during workouts.

The bathrooms are another major issue. They are consistently dirty and have a strong smell of urine, which is incredibly off-putting. It’s frustrating to see that such a fundamental aspect of gym hygiene is being neglected.

I really hope Managment takes these concerns seriously and makes necessary improvements. Until then, I cannot recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean and pleasant workout environment.

Before I would have given them zero stars. I came in today to take a shower after work and wasn’t prepared for what I saw.
I’m glad that they got a new operations manager. He seems very professional and friendly. A good personality goes a long way in this day and age. I get tired of going everywhere just to encounter miserable unpleasant workers. Not like the other guy that was rude and always acting like a little nasty Diva. So bad that I had to report him to corporate.

This is the cleanest that I’ve seen the locker room all year since the new lady started working. I haven’t been in a while because it was always so dirty. So I was pleasantly surprised. The other two Haitian women weren’t doing jack ish and the place was filthy. The showers had all been cleaned and even the sauna door had been wiped down. It was spotless. Now all they need to do is enforce the rules and get some better equipment then maybe I’ll start working out here again.

5 star customer service. The GM went above and beyond on a membership issue I had, that was my fault, he did not have to fix the issue that was my mistake, but he did. Thank you! Also, the ladies at the fr desk are super friendly and helpful.

I landed in Fort Lauderdale on a redeye flight, but with my hotel check-in not available until 2 PM, I decided to visit the LA Fitness nearby to work out and recharge after the long journey. Carrying around my backpack and carry-on wasn’t ideal at first, and I set out to find a lock for the lockers, but there weren’t any stores nearby. Thankfully, the manager at LA Fitness was kind enough to lend me a lock, which made things much easier.

The gym was excellent—clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped. I had a great workout, including stretching, cardio, and weightlifting. The sauna was perfectly hot, the locker room was spotless, and the showers were clean and refreshing.

Having been to many gyms in California, I can confidently say that the Fort Lauderdale LA Fitness stands out. The exceptional service and cleanliness made my visit a great experience, and it was the perfect way to start my day before checking into the hotel.

I am updating my review. I renewed my membership and Leslie was teriffic. She was courteous and efficient. I got to speak to Mel...he knows his stuff if you need assistance. They have decent cardio, free weights, machines, trainers, classes, a pool, basket ball court, child care, sauna, snack bar, drinks, gloves, etc💪 What I do like is that it is not a meat market. The gym suits my needs and if you are in it for a good workout check it out. LA Fitness will be revamping this location soon. They have so many other locations as well. Nice people but facilities are old and rarely cleaned. On my last visit, in the locker room, the janitor started spraying straight bleach on all the surfaces, and I nearly had an asthma attack. I politely ask him to please stop spraying the bleach around me as I could not breathe. I also made hand motions as I think he did not speak English but only Spanish I said no no no please stop for a moment. He walked over within 6 inches of me and started spraying the bleach right around my feet. When I tried to exit the locker room, he proceeded to the entryway of the locker room and started spraying right in front of me almost like a challenge. I notified the manager Maria and she did not even get up from her chair. She simply said “I’ll call him.” I told her that I work for the fire department and that straight bleach is a carcinogen and a hazardous material. Since then, I have filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Health and the LA Fitness district office. I don’t think anything will happen. The machines here are broken and tattered and when they fall apart, they never get replaced example: the bicep machine has never been replaced. I’m going to cancel my membership and never walk into an LA fitness again after 20 years of working out there.

In this all gym, there are only 3 squat racks, while upstairs is full of cardio equipments. Seriously? Su ubicación es buena pero las máquinas están viejas y poco mantenimiento. El descuido es increíble, siempre está sucio y los baños dan asco. Las pareces y techo de los baños con moho, duchas rotas, lookers rotos. No todos los baños cuentan con jabón. No te sorprendas si solo hay agua fría , ha pasado. Así que si piensas ducharte te recomiendo que traigas todo lo que necesites. El sauna no lo limpian y en ocasiones huele horrible por el sudor viejo y puedes ver tierra en el piso por que no lo barren. Cuando cierran la piscina y el jacuzzi pueden durar más de tres semanas el repararlo. Hace falta un plan de limpieza constante. Solo ves un empleado y no puede con todo. I am a member of the gym and I am very disappointed with the leg equipment. I just moved from North miami to Ft Lauderdale and there is no comparison. It’s unbelievable that for such a gigantic gym there is not enough leg machines… there are not many options in Fort Lauderdale. Can you please buy more leg equipment? PLEASE!!!

Its really not a bad gym… The staff and lack of cleanliness is what brings this place down. The last 30 minutes before the gym closes you’ll be barked at every 5 minutes on the loudspeaker reminding you that you need to leave soon. Once they even threatened to terminate memberships if you weren’t out the door at 10pm on the dot lol this place could also be much cleaner if the cleaning staff were actually supervised. Ive observed numerous times machines being cleaned with the same mop they use to clean the floor. 🤮 i cant speak about the changing rooms/saunas because im too afraid to see the mess that’s in there. Other than that, there’s really barely any wait time for any of the cardio and weight machines and the gym is never too packed which i like.

This La fitness at cypress creek needs to improve cleaning process. The men’s locker rooms are always dirty messy without sanity due to frequent homeless people came in occupying locker as storage then staying in sauna shower for hours. Photo taken was on Sunday 04/07/2024, where men’s locker rooms were full of trashes wet watery conditions without any janitor’s cleaning process during entire afternoon until close at 7pm. I came to gym to use amenities we pay for and was denied access 20 minutes before closing due to policy Jasmine a new employee of 1 month stated . I have been coming for years and never heard of this policy. This white lady who was over hearing approached me after I left and stated she has never been denied for coming in during that hour which concludes me to wonder whether this was racially motivated. I pay to have access to gym during operating hours and was ultimately denied. This is the first time of me hearing this policy as well as the first time of it being enforced. I will be speaking to management and ultimately corporate in regards to this.

Don't sign up here. They lie about cancellation policy. They say its a requirement that the general manager be there and can only do it in person when GM is present. I called two other locations and they indicated this is a straight up lie.

The General Manager Jerry at this location is unprofessional and not customer/client centric. I visited last month to cancel my membership and was still charged, I called to resolve the issue and was scolded saying I needed to speak or the Operations Manager to process (Not my fault the employee there didn’t advise). Jerry still refused to cancel my membership.

This location is more spacious than the other ones. It nice but some of the equipments are just so rusted up. They also have only one of the favorite machines like the rear deltoid and pec dec machines.

So far I’ve gone on a Tuesday at 7:30 PM and Wednesday at 11 AM, super empty and manageable!
