MORE LIKE A NURSING HOME THAN A GYM. This used to be a great gym when I first started going here. They offered so many amenities and an array of different machinery but overtime, with the growing elderly clientele, they have taken away tons of machines including all of the stair climbers and they have closed the basketball courts. All of the original helpful staff that used to work the front desk are gone, replaced by old Karens. Seeing as they only cater to the elderly it looks like I’m going to have to find a different gym that caters to my age group.

Been a member for 40 years. Came to the Lakewood Ranch location which is far from us, but attended a Memorial service out here with my daughter. Juan at the front desk refused to give us a standard guest pass for my daughter which member accounts allow. Called the UTC location, & the manager there Antonio said that was incorrect & asked to speak to Juan. Juan still chose to power play us with
no guest pass to force us to have to drive to a different location. Will post this incident everywhere & call corporate with a formal grievance.

Old crotchety white man working at the front desk hassled us about wearing a KQED hat (Bay Area public radio), which gives you a good sense of their views on individual liberties and how to engage in courteous human interaction (let alone customers).

WATCH OUT WHEN SIGNING UP!!

They will not tell you about the follow up $63 "annual charge" that happens two weeks after signing up. Even in addition to the initiation fee & the first and last months they make you pay to sign up.

But when I call customer service and talk to them, they will say, "It was in the [digital] paperwork" on the small ATM you sign, while they are talking and distracting you. I asked several times to understand the charges, too.

Don't expose yourself to these conditions. LA Fitness should audit this location immediately for quality as the conditions are quite poor.

A pretty good gym…at least one of everything and a long dumbbell rack. Lots of cardio and the classes are popular. Bright, airy and with big ass ceiling fans, a gentle breeze fights the Florida humidity.

It's an okay facility when you're able to use the equipment. Too many teenagers hogging the machines while they are they playing with their damn phones. They have this great space that's been closed up for 6 plus years with the promise of actually doing something with it. Prefer to go to university or the Bee Ridge location near the trail.

The guy that signs you up, ED will tell you that if you cancel, they will give you more time to use what you have… But he will not follow through with anything! Took me almost a month of calling and stopping in every couple days… Finally, I called corporate and they took care of it immediately!

My wife and I just moved to this area from NY. After hurricane Milton, we were eager to check out some of the local gyms. Signed up for a guest pass to try this facility out only to get there and have someone at the front desk rudely tell us that they were not accepting guest passes that day and that if we wanted to work out, it would be 20$ each for the day. I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness member for years and have had great experiences at multiple locations—except this one.
From day one, I was misled by a staff member who promised several things that turned out to be completely false. I was assured I could freeze my account right before my billing date due to an upcoming surgery (Medical Issue), only to be told last minute that this wasn’t possible and that I would be charged the full amount.

The staff at this location is incredibly rude and dishonest!!! clearly just telling you whatever they think will get you to sign up. I’ve never had issues at other LA Fitness locations, but this one is by far the worst.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this gym if you value honesty and good customer service.

Dishonest disrespectful staff (Eli & Dallas)
I have been a member for a few years now at you Lakewood Ranch, FL location. Today my wife had a guest who is visiting us from overseas and we bought passes for her which the staff person (Eli) who told us will be good until she leaves next Monday; however, today they asked us to pay again. This person told my wife today the he lied to us when we bought the passes and that he did not care and that he does anything he wants at the gym. The manager was present (Dallas) but did not do anything about it. This is a total disrespect for my wife and friend and to anybody with some decency and honesty. I hope that you take appropriate corrective actions at the verbal abuse that we suffered today.

This experience was utterly unacceptable. I visited on a free 3-day pass on Saturday, and the gym was in a deplorable state. The cardio equipment was covered in sweat marks, weights were scattered everywhere, and the wipe dispensers were either empty or filled with dry wipes lacking sanitizer. Today, as it was the final day of my pass, I intended to use it once more. However, the staff informed me of a $20 initiation fee for the supposedly free 3-day pass. Due to this experience, I will not be recommending this location, or any other LA Fitness center, to my clients, friends, or family. I hope this feedback is used to improve the standards of this club.

My son needed me to provide him with a gym membership as therapy due to him recovering from his last accident. since he had trouble choosing which one because we have several different options here in our Lakewood ranch and Bradenton area, I advised him to get la fitness free day pass to try it out and get acquainted with the location as well as the staff. But to my dismay that was a terrible suggestion from my part considering how terrible he and his friend were treated at the front desk. aside from the discrimination and false advertisement the store manager (Dallas Johnson) only vaguely try to comprehend my son, all he did was make a joke out of him trying to show off terrible sales skills to his fellow employee while they joke about the situation.. and from my understanding my son couldnt get a tour of the gym or even use his free pass to try them out prior to making a decision.. and no where on the pass was it highlighted that you needed $20 at this specific gym to activate a first time free day pass. Had I known that was the case I would have certainly gave my son and his friend $20 each instead of having Dallas Ridicule my son and his friend. At this point it’s not even about the signing up it’s about the customer service as well as Dallas subliminal intentions which were quite judgmental, my son is an African American and Dallas was playing favoritism which made him feel super uncomfortable which is why my son decided to leave and I had to rush back to get him to to how upset and humiliated he was.. this cannot be corporate because he mentioned himself that they only do this at his store really to encourage membership but in all sincerity how can I commit to something or someone if I have not experienced it yet.. would you. If I’m wrong by all means I will accept my wrong doing of not I truly need Dallas to understand the role of his job also implies getting to know and understand any customer even potential ones. If it’s a free pass that I must pay from, someone must be false advertising either Dallas or corporate and like to get this resolve because money is the least of this issue.

This was a great gym until the management decided to lease out the pool to a private swim lesson school. Two thirds of the lanes will be occupied at peak times so members will have limited access to the pool. It is not good for members that want to swim in a quiet environment. The pool turns into a loud daycare during swim lessons with lots of babies in diapers.
