Definitely gets its fair amount of usage. Somewhat clean, bathrooms need a thoughough cleaning, sauna is always filthy.
Update gym is much cleaner, new cleaning staff is walking around doing a good job with the equipment side. However, sauna is still disgusting. I think there is black mold growing along the base of the floor.
Gym is definitely improving with good operational machinery. Bathrooms are better some club members could use a hygiene class on bathroom etiquette, but most are friendly and clean.

Just re-joined after a few years, hoping things had improved. Walked in this morning and told the young man behind the counter that it was my first visit. He told me to scan the app to sign in and then stood there. No offer to show me around, point me in any direction at all. I was able to see where the cardio equipment is located so I went there. When I was finished I walked myself around and found most everything and a few patrons were kind enough to point me in the direction of the rest. Reminded me of why I left the first time. At least this time it’s free for me.

Experiencia con LA Fitness
Una de las peores experiencias que he tenido con un gimnasio. Te dicen una cosa y en el contrato aparece otra. Prometen que puedes salirte cuando quieras, pero en realidad te atan a un contrato y te hacen pagar un dineral por adelantado.

Al inicio dicen un precio mensual, pero luego te salen con otra cantidad, sumándole aranceles y cargos que nunca explican claramente. Además, al darles tu tarjeta, cobran lo que quieren y no detallan bien los pagos adicionales.

En resumen, todo lo que prometen es mentira. Aunque sigo en LA Fitness, no lo recomiendo para nada. Ha sido una de mis peores experiencias en un gimnasio.

Nice gym but always packed and a bunch of weird old men that will just sit and stare while making faces at you. They have a good variety of equipment but it’s hard to feel comfortable when this is a consistent thing. A lot of my friends have experienced this at this exact location, as well. LA please do something about this!! It’s making the environment unenjoyable for young women.

Very dirty showers...mildew on the shower curtains, floor and walls. Showers haven't been cleaned in a long time and shower heads don't all work correctly. Same goes for the Signature location, Tampa. That location has low performing AC in mens locker room....prepare to sweat after your shower.

They have had an HVAC issue in the basketball court for 3-4 months. Was told by corporate that they just found out that they have a leak and put a ticket in just now to fix the A/C. I watch grown men slip on this court because it was so humid the floors were sweating.
Prior to that the court was closed for 3 months due to the floor being warped. Most likely more of the floor will be warped shortly.

I’ve been coming to this gym location for 2 years now & feels like my days here are numbered. The truth is this gym feels too nursing-home-ish with the amount of seniors they have as members. They take up every part of the gym most days- pool classes, shaving in sauna , cardio equipment. If you are a young, you may want to seek out another gym because the amount of old people & the way they act can really wear on you here.

Unfortunately, LA Fitness does not care about this gym or its members - the AC has been broken in the back half of facility, in the free weight area and basketball courts since MAY. It is extremely hot with no airflow - they need to at least install ceiling fans for airflow. The staff seems to have no solutions or time frames of, only that it’s going to be fixed. Sadly they are losing members. Hopefully this club does not shut down

As a loyal member of LA Fitness for over sixteen years, I write this review with a heavy sense of betrayal, frustration, and emotional distress after enduring one of the most appalling cases of prolonged consumer mistreatment and corporate negligence I have ever experienced. What began as a commitment to fitness in 2008 has devolved into an unrelenting nightmare of fraudulent billing, unethical behavior, and persistent humiliation by the management and staff at this location.

Over the years, I made extraordinary efforts—financially, physically, and emotionally—to maintain this membership, despite the fact that the facility continuously declined in quality while my dues mysteriously inflated. Initiation fees, monthly payments, and annual renewal costs ballooned with no explanation, and amenities once promised have either been stripped away or rendered inaccessible. Racquetball courts and group classes—core offerings when I joined—have disappeared, all while management justifies inflated rates with empty promises and broken facilities.

The gym equipment is severely outdated, heavily deteriorated, and in many cases, unsafe to use. Maintenance is clearly an afterthought, with hazards routinely ignored. Despite years of patronage, I was treated with absolute disregard, especially after my credit card expired. Rather than notify me respectfully, I was publicly shamed and humiliated in front of other members by the staff—a devastating and unnecessary violation that caused me significant emotional and psychological harm. It was dehumanizing and legally questionable, violating the standards of conduct any service-based business should uphold.

When I attempted to resolve my membership after a short freeze due to mental anguish, I was met with inconsistent, deceitful billing practices. I was quoted three completely different balances—$104.99, $138.02, and then inexplicably $320.09—within a span of just a few days, by three different employees. Each time I asked for a printed or emailed itemized statement, my requests were denied, a gross violation of basic consumer transparency. Even a simple request to take a photo of the screen showing my account was refused. This evasiveness reeks of intentional misconduct, designed to confuse, exploit, and wear down paying customers.

The high staff turnover, absence of experienced personnel, and consistent lack of accountability are clear indicators of systemic failure. The unprofessionalism exhibited here goes beyond negligence—it demonstrates a willful disregard for ethical standards and the wellbeing of long-standing members.

I have seen firsthand why class action lawsuits are emerging against LA Fitness for deceptive billing and misrepresentation. My experience qualifies as textbook grounds for inclusion. I will never return to this facility unless it is to witness its well-deserved closure. The management should be ashamed, and corporate should be held accountable. Until then, I will do everything in my power to ensure other potential members know exactly what they’re signing up for: a contract with deception, dysfunction, and distress.

They have decent equipment. But run very poorly. They have fitness instructors who take over the group fitness room, including the punching bags, well before any class starts. Very selfish and rude people there, to the point where I canceled my membership after years with LA fitness. I think all of them are going downhill, but this one was especially unpleasant.

1* review does not suffice my dissatisfaction about my visit with this location. I walked in with my husband and immediately I was told by front desk that my Humana Medicare membership does not include guest visits. How else am I suppose to refer someone if I couldn't bring a guest to use the facility? There was no offer of a one time courtesy guest pass. I was also told there's an extra charge of $20 to bring a guest wherein there was a guest pass being offered to first timer at the desk. Horrible customer service. The young guy behind the counter didnt even apologize. It was an obvious oh well tough approach. Would never refer anyone to this location. Because of this terrible experience I am convince I will be canceling my membership with LA Fitness. Oh well tough, to you too !!!

Before there would be stains and hair all over the mats, equipment all mix matched over the place and sweat stains on the cardio equipment. I had a very disappointing experience at LA fitness today. I came in with a valid 7 day guest pass from my mom who is a member. We just went Sunday and everything was fine but when I came today I was told I’m only able to come once every 6 months. Which I was never told before. I had only been twice before today last month and a couple days ago. I even told the worker I drove all the way here just for the sauna as he tried to still sell me on memberships I didn’t want. Despite driving all the way there for 20 mins in the sauna I had to leave unless I bought a membership or wait 6 months to come back. I left feeling like my time wasn’t valued. They definitely won’t be getting my money just for this! My advice don’t get a guest pass unless you wanna be misinformed then turned away.

I’ve been to a lot of gyms over the years, but my experience at LA Fitness has been one of the best. From the moment you walk in, the space feels clean, well-organized, and focused on helping people reach their goals.

Whether you’re into strength training, cardio, or just need space to stretch and move, this gym has everything you need. I’ve never had to wait long for a machine or weight bench, even during busier hours.

Supportive Staff

The team here is helpful, approachable, and knowledgeable—but I have to give a special shoutout to Katy and Hugo. Katy is incredibly welcoming and makes the gym feel like a friendly place to be. Hugo is always willing to give tips or answer questions about technique or training. Both of them make a real difference in the day-to-day experience.

Great Community Feel

There’s a good mix of people at this gym, and the atmosphere is encouraging without being overly intense or intimidating. It’s a place where beginners and experienced lifters alike can feel comfortable.

Try educating your employees on some basic, common knowledge like “acknowledging paying customers who walk in the door.”

I’ve been a member of LA for ten years and I’ve never seen a more check-out, disrespectful and downright ignorant group of dolts working a front desk. It sets the tone for every visit - these people could not possibly care less. No eye contact, no “hello,” no help of any kind when you need it and definitely nobody ever walking around checking on things.

This is a management problem and I’ve never seen a more mismanaged gym before. Step your game up, I’m running out of reasons to pay for this lack of basic service.

Sauna and showers should be shut down by the Health department until they get it cleaned and regrouted. Members come and use their cell phones to check their messages , and conduct business at the expense of your time, instead of getting up to let you in to get in your work out. Management doesn't do anything about these complaints, one manager told me that it was her day off and she wasn't supposed to be there so she couldn't take my complaint.

Love this LA Fitness location and the personal training they offer! Endless equipment here, and the basketball court is a huge plus. My trainer, Kalen (Kal), has been instrumental in getting me out of my fitness/exercise rut and helping me achieve some real progress physically. Kal’s tailored approach to training is clearly backed up by extensive knowledge, and the workouts he designs for me are the right balance between challenging my body and smart/safe practices. This was key for me, as I have had issues with consistency in the past. Kal makes it fun and effective, and I’ve been in the gym weekly and realizing gains with Kal for a several months. I would highly recommend his services for all fitness levels!

Defeats the purpose, the proper way is nude sitting on towel or if modest wrap a towel around you. You do need a towel to sit on. Overall great place that offers a lot.

I have been a member here for more than 12 years.. constantly getting worse. The hours of operation are very inconvenient as they used to close on weekends at 2200 or 2300 hours now they close at 1800 hours….

Equipment is constantly broken. TVs haven’t worked in weeks (convenient with the election soon).

Not worth the money when there are numerous gyms close by with working equipment, better hours of operation, and cheaper memberships.

We usually play racquetball at the signature club in South Tampa. For various reasons, we played in the lutes LA fitness and the facility is nicer, cleaner, the temperature on the racquetball courts is cooler like it’s supposed to be.

Members are paying premium money for gym membership, however the gym opens late on weekends.Opening hours should be adjusted to 6am on weekends. Similarly closing hours should be looked at. Especially if they want to remain competitive with the other gyms

I've been working out at this gym even through different names for seventeen years. I just can't believe it's gone so downhill I had to cancel my Membership today. I can't bring my son-in any more.Because of how many old men are hanging out completely naked walking around In the dressing room and so my son can't even use the bathroom When he comes with me. I saw A young Man walking around barefoot working out. He wears sandals into the gym and then takes them off and walks around barefoot And nobody has a problem with that. I can't Believe this place is gone so downhill

The machines are filthy, some of them has so much dirt you could plant corn on them.The a/c return vent is black and needs to be cleaned. Overall the gym needs a top to bottom cleaning

Aaron Burke has been my personal trainer for 6 months. He has so much knowledge and has been so positive and encouraging, working with me to increase my core strength and flexibility. His videos are also very helpful. I would refer my best friends and family to him.

Work out at Van Dyke location 3 to 4 days a week. Great equipment. My Grand Boys have taken 16 weeks of swimming lessons - great instructor and program. My 2 sons work out regularly. Big complaint - b-ball court has been out of commission for several weeks with no apparent plan to fix. A result of this is an apparent significant drop in members in the facility (I guess for several reasons). The longer the b-ball court stays unusable, the worse it is for LA Fitness.

Do yourself a favor and go to EOS or some other gym close by. There are very few good staff members; the rest just don't care. If something gets broken it'll stay broken for months and then they're fix it to a degree of just being "less broken." It's a pretty good bet that while you're there some other member somewhere will have a strong odor of weed. The company seems to have forgotten about this location and is content on just letting it die. I did a trial week at one of the EOS locations and it's so much better. I've been an LA Fitness member for 15 years and this location is probably going to force me to switch.

Oh! They also canceled the kids' center. If you're a mom or dad, don't even think about it.

I signed up for a 3-day guest pass to determine if I wanted to leave EoS, since EoS has gotten so crowded. I showed up at 6am planning to do my daily routine before work and was told by the staff that they do not honor the 3-day pass that is offered on their website and they asked me to pay $20 for a single day workout.
First, why offer a visitor pass on your website if your not going to honor it?
Second, why charge a potential member $20 for a single workout?
Third, what justifies LA fitness having the highest membership fee in the area?

I don't expect answers. This place obviously has poor managemen. Looks like I'll be staying at EoS....

Absolute nightmare to cancel membership at this LA. I work a full time job and the past two times I rushed in the manager ( the only person who can cancel my membership) is gone. I woke up early enough today to come in before work and conveniently the manager is gone till Wednesday. The only other way is to print out a form, sign it and mail it in… it’s 2024 this process should be simpler. At least allow other employees to cancel memberships I’m sure it’s not that complicated.
