I'm getting back to fitness. Started back in March 2025 I love it here. I have not experienced any of the negativity I've read in these reviews. I come early in the morning 6 days a week. Always clean and I always see a staff member walking through the gym wiping down machines, stretch mats, and cleaning the floors when I'm there. Always have wipes available. Plenty of equipment & free weights.**Update Nov 2025. Nice remodel new equipment. Pilates room with reformers. I still love it here 💕

I come here often, and after a short break I’m really impressed — the gym looks cleaner, more organized, and the new equipment is great.

To those complaining about closing time: if you’re still in the pool near 11, the staff are just doing their job by asking you to leave. Unless you’re paying overtime, it’s a bit ironic to blame them.

Agree with Pinguino’s review. With 10 mins left they tell customers like 3 times within a 2 minute frame that they’re closing in ten minutes. Did it to an old disabled couple sitting in the pool. And they wonder why people take their time.

I would understand if someone took like 10 minutes past close, but for God’s sakes give people a few mins to change their clothes. These are PAYING customers. Manners have gone out the window

Gym itself is big enough for everybody. Great locations. Love my Zumba and Body Works instructor Lori. She has great personality and her classes always productive and fun. Love Karolina and Gisela - Zumba insructors, they are professional and super friendly.
Receptionists are much more helpful and friendly then year ago. Janitors are great hardworking guys. Only thing needs more cleaning attention is hot tub and lockers cabinets.

UPDATE: They lost their stars due to their lying corporate business practices. I got a 3-day guest pass through my mother that expired after 2 days. It literally does not make sense except as a means to get more memberships. This kind of underhanded, lying greedy practices should not be rewarded (this hurts as someone from L.A.!)

Standardbearer of what amenities and services a gym should have: pool, changing rooms, saunas, cycling room, dance hall, gym, plenty of machines, and a personal training area. The staff is friendly enough and the instructors energetic and fun at what they do. Only star demerit is that it has no smoothie stand and its design is too suburban-oriented - it will ever not be absurd that people drive to the gym instead of bike and walk.

I've been a satisfied member of the LA Fitness gym on Hollywood and Palm Bay Road for 5 years; I go every day, Monday through Friday. I attend 10 fitness classes per week. My favorite day has always been Tuesday for Vicky's Senior Fit class at 11:00 followed by her Pilates class at 12:00. These classes are popular and well-attended. For some crazy reason, they have taken away her Pilates class and replaced it with a second Senior Fit class. NOBODY wants this. We've always managed to accommodate anybody who wants a Senior Fit class on Tuesday in the 11:00 class. (If they're looking to add another Senior Fit class, it should be on Monday, the one day of the week that doesn't have one.) Numbers for this second Senior Fit class are very low, and there are a lot of upset Pilates people, who've faithfully attended Vicky's class for several years. Complaints have been made at the gym and seem not to have been heard. I'm writing about it in this platform in the hopes that someone from the LA Fitness Management Team will see it and do something!

My suggestion is to avoid this place at all costs. As my Partner, whom is older like myself, was physically threatened by a younger member, and the gym did NOTHING about the situation. It started when my Partner got on a piece of equipment, not knowing the younger member was using that piece as well as others! At the same time! The young guy had a smart mouth, and my partner gave it back to him. When the nonsense escaped to being physically threatened, my husband immediately notified management. The manager just tried to smooth it over with the tough guy, rather than having him leave for the day. Clearly, the Management team supports these types of people and actions. We are happily canceling our membership. This place isn’t the “shiny penny” it appears to be - be warned!

Walking through the parking lot there were used syringes on the sidewalk to get in doors and another day there was a syringe on the front window, not really a place to bring kinds to if there’s needles laying everywhere. There’s hardly any sanitary wipes for equipment and that’s gross, there’s been the same hair ball/lint ball on the dumbbell rack for over three months so that doesn’t get cleaned. Equipment could be updated/upgraded there’s always broken attachments for cables and cardio machines are pretty bad. Good location but definitely needs a retail of cleanliness and equipment.

This is my primary gym and typically it's decent. You have a mix of teens and adults who don't like to put their weights away and staff that doesn't care when you bring it up to them.

Additionally, Trey at the front desk needs to take some classes on customer service. Had an issue and rather than explaining the actual issue, where I would've understood his position, he was rude, confrontational and accusatory. Insinuating I was trying to gain the system. Very unprofessional and pissed me off. No manager was on duty to express my concern.

Update 4/14/25: I think the employee I mentioned above no longer works there as I haven't seen him lately.

A different issue arose just a few days ago when I witnessed an altercation with someone working on 3 machines and another guy who started working out on one of the machines "in use". A fight between the two almost ensued. It's bad etiquette, yes, but I'm not sure it's against the rules. When an employee came over to address the problem, he was able to split the two up, but the guy working on 3 machines kept working the 3 machines. Really not sure what can be done about this.... Other than post it in a review 🥴

I am thankful for the time and energy my instructors at LA Fitness give each day. I have recently started attending classes again after a long absence. We had a positive tour of the gym but when it came to reviewing pricing they fed me numbers verbally and when I said I need to write it down to understand they said it was against company policy, then continued telling me the numbers verbally. Wouldn't even give me a pen to organize my thoughts. Poor guy is bound by an outdated sales method probably pushed on him by the regional executives out of touch.

Their sales process felt icky over ten years ago in another state and I can't believe it hasn't changed! Second attempt to try LA fitness failed.

I am giving this club at this location the lowest review for the following reason:

On November 15, I informed the young man at the front desk that I wanted to freeze my membership starting December 14, as I would be out of town for a few months. He assured me it was taken care of and even showed me the screen confirming that it was frozen. He explained that it would cost $10 per month and could be frozen at any time.

I left town on December 14 and just recently checked my credit card statement, only to find that I was still charged the full membership fee on December 15. When I called the front desk, I was informed that my membership was never actually frozen.

This indicates negligence on the part of the staff member who assured me the freeze had been processed. The gym’s records clearly show I did not use the facility after December 13. Additionally, I canceled private lessons due to my travel plans and informed multiple gym staff members about my trip, even receiving well wishes from one of the instructors.

Despite this, when I spoke with the manager on this location over the phone, he refused to refund the December fee. His attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, even though the records support my claim that I informed the gym well in advance and did not use the facility and also canceled private training class due to my trip out of town.

This experience has been deeply disappointing, and I feel cheated as a customer.

I completely agree with the previous reviewer regarding the management team’s inexperience and lack of professionalism at this location. Their approach to handling issues is not only inefficient, inexperience, unprofessional but also extremely rude.

UPDATE: It is disappointing that this facility is putting patrons at risk for serious diseases, and being complacent about it. After the staff was notified several times that disinfectant wipes were empty throughout the facility they continued to sit there and say “we will get it soon.” After waiting for over 30 minutes for the staff to take action many of us had no choice but to leave for the day. We chose not to risk being infected, or spreading infection due to staff refusing to take action.

Great gym with lots of options to work out. This facility is 2 stories with plenty of weight machines, free weights, stretching area, personal workout area, private training sessions, racquetball courts, dance room, basketball court, cycling room, hot tub/pool, and a sauna in the locker room. There are daily lockers and showers for anyone planning to go elsewhere after a workout. It even has a daycare facility during the working hours.

I have been a member for 9+ years and used my membership all over FL, all up the east coast, throughout the mid-west, and even out on the west coast. It's great to have a membership valid in so many other cities and states.

The guy Norman who i assume is a manager, was extremely rude & dismissive. He never greeted us with a smile or welcoming gestures before we even got to talking. Well, we tried to get a membership through silver sneakers for my disabled aunt & told him i would be of an assistance for her. To help her on & off the bicycle machine & pool workouts. This is after we already got confirmation that she was allowed to have a personal assistant. He rudely says “well you got wrong information, you would have to either be a member or pay a huge guest fee” with zero emotion. As if we were actually annoying him & wasting his time for even being in his presence.

Before that, he again, with annoyance, demands her to download the LA Fitness app for check ins. I asked if it would be ok if i did it on my phone because i would be with her each time, & he goes “and you are?….” See, the issue is not him relying information on the gym policies but HOW he said it. He had such a nasty attitude the whole time.

Nevertheless, we aren't the type to argue with clear as day miserable people who probably hates their job... We left, went to Crunch Fitness on New Haven, & was greeted with positivity, smiles & welcomes. It worked out better since i already have a membership there. We got her signed up & enjoyed each workout since. Go to Crunch, its a better atmosphere, experience & WAY cheaper, WITH updated, NEW equipment 🙂‍↔️

This experience actually reminded me why I cancelled this membership years ago, the stuck up attitudes! So i guess this is the norm & nothing will be done. So im here to warn future customers to think of going somewhere else.

I would like to start off with how this place is one of the most expensive gyms around but yet there open hrs are limited from 6-9 and weekends even less time open . Secondly they encourage you to sign up so bad just to tell you there’s no other fees or expenses until a certain date after the $106 starting fee. Just to lie and charge your card an additional $63. 2 weeks later . I called to have it refunded bc I wasn’t aware about a “annual fee” which they should have mentioned when I asked if there were any other fees or charges I’d have to pay . Mind you after paying $100 may 25 I was told my next charge would be July 25th unless I cancel before hand . I look on my account just to see a $53 charge in June 25th . I will be calling once again to have that refunded as well . LA fitness is a scam and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Unless of course your rich and don’t mind being robbed of money and lied too !

The general manager very unprofessional and judgmental if you are a young black folk. I ask for a free trial pass to see the gym and he didn’t even allow me to and tried to force me into a membership. When I said that I wanted to try it first and I already got a pass online, he said that I just want to use gym for free and didn’t even give me a chance to show the pass that I got from the Lafitness website. Just joined LA Fitness, best experience ever. Met and worked with Norman, I cannot say enough nice things about him. Extremely knowledgeable, kind, respectful and patient. He is helping me so much with lifestyle changes and getting healthier. Great asset to LA Fitness for sure!

Finally going to the gym again. The equipment is in good shape and the staff is very friendly. The cardio machines are popular but there always seems to be some available with no waiting.

9/18 update: Cardio machines all seem to be well taken care of. Ellipticals are smooth and easier on my knees than at other gyms

Love Karen’s Senior Fit classes. Great instructor with such an upbeat attitude. When leaving her class you definitely know you’ve had a good workout!
Classes are always full so a few more chairs would be nice.

Love this gym very much, it’s big and spacious. It has excellent machines and instructors and definitely some great classes. My favorite classes are definitely yoga, abs plus body works, Zumba, spinning and Pilates. My favorite instructors are Lori, Linda, Jessica, Debra, Mitchell, Mariely, Vicky and Gisela.

They were so helpful getting me signed up, installed the app on my phone, gave me class info and offered me a first free session with a trainer. The facilities are clean and well cared for. The pool, hot tub and a water aerobics class were the biggest draw for me.

I have an active and fit membership and came to this location to use it, they told me I would have to come back when the insurance person is working. I will not be coming back to this location, I have never had this issue at any other gym with my active and fit membership.
