. I was out of town due to military obligations got back to work out. Realize membership billing was seven days overdue asked if I could work out and bring card information in tomorrow. They said no and that I was not allowed in until new card on file.

Stay away from this gym unless you want to have a bunch of unauthorized charges hit your card.
Moved cities in Sept, tried to give notice in person several times but was turned away because "they dont take notices on the weekend". I emailed and told them I moved but then in Nov saw more charges hit my acct. Called to resolve the issue and they acknowledged I gave notice in Sept but also said I "didn't reply to their email". I said fine, just keep the charges to date and asked if he could confirm that was the last of the charges. He said no and that he still needs to "charge for November to get it to cancel". WHAT??? WHY?? He said "I just can't cancel it without charging for November too". This makes no sense. Now I have to dispute this as fraud with my bank. I tried diligently to resolve this with the location, all to no avail. This seems very unethical and they are certainly not customer service oriented.

I cannot even give this company a star. They do not treat you with any respect and when you have an issue when you request an owner to call you multiple occasions over the time of months to even a year they refuse to do with such and treat you as a human being and call you. They do not care all they want to do is get their money and continue to charge you without talking to you or noticing that you haven't used their gym in over two years so when you called to cancel, they want to continue to take out more money even though you sent emails that verify that you've asked to cancel they say they can't get the payment but get the credit card company shows that they do but yet they continue to charge you and when you call about all the issues again, no one will ever return your call. There is no management supposedly and absolutely. The owner will not have the decency to return a phone call. I posted a one star because it will not let you, but I would never give this place a one star and I have made sure to tell everybody that I know and I know plenty of people who work out to never go to this gym because they don't treat you like a human.

Been going here for over 3 years an as of recently the place is hardly cleaned the staff is rude there system is always down there equipment is always broken but have no problem charging your card!!! Then trying to cancel your membership is damn near impossible!!! I would rather pay someone to punch me in the face then have to deal with this establishment or the people in it...

I’ve been coming to this gym a very long time, and recently got a personal protection order on someone who’s been stalking me and harassing me at the gym along with other places. This person goes to this gym. I asked if I went to the gym and he showed up if they could just let me know or offer me any kind of support since this is the closest gym to me and he already has a membership at another gym 25 minutes closer to his home… This was a temporary request until I go to court to get more information on how to go about this. In response the owner of the gym cancelled my membership for no given reason and kept my Stalkers membership active…

I find their business practices, very deceitful. My son has tried to cancel his membership for the last four months and initially he went in to the front desk as he was told was necessary and the gentleman at the front desk who appears to be either the manager or the owner Said OK it’s taken care of four months later my husband realizes he is still getting billed. My son goes back, speaks to the same gentleman, and the gentleman tells him it’s because he didn’t fill out a form. He asked to fill out the form and was tld cancellations had to be done before 7 PM. It was about 715.
My son returned back the next day at 4 PM and there is no sign on the door saying all cancellations must be done between 7 AM and 3 PM if your business is so desperate for money that you take advantage of teenagers you need a different business model I would stay away from the facility because the staff is not trustworthy.

Asked to transfer the membership from my wife to my daughter and they want to cancel so they can get paid twice .
Most people on reception are nice but don’t expect anything good from Michael cause he is just ignorante and disrespectful.

Like the size of the gym and the traffic isn’t very bad throughout the day, but the lady that owns the gym is very rude and hits everybody with a $50 a year equipment and maintenance fee which I think is crap, especially when they don’t tell you that they’re gonna do this to you and you find out by your credit card statement. The lady is super cheap. Some equipment needs to be updated and there’s tons of stuff that is broken that takes weeks to get fixed. And honestly, I wouldn’t mind the fee if it was used for what they claim it’s intended for, and if not, just let people know that that Yearly service fee instead of blowing smoke talking about it’s for equipment and repairs. I’ve been at this gym for four years and only have seen the dumbbells replaced on one side, but no new machines point blank. And also, the bathrooms are horrible. Haven’t seen a dime invested into any of The men’s restrooms they smell like homeless camps. Again, the size of the gym is great and the traffic is very low, but the lady needs to try to be a little more accommodating and utilize the money. She saying she’s taking from people and putting it back into her gym.
Below is the door knob that has been broken for months. The machine and the photo has been broken for weeks. And there is a spot for a speed bag and there hasn’t been a speed bag there in three years, which really a bag isn’t gonna break the bank, but it has not been replaced nor have been one there since I’ve had my membership there are also other machines that are on their last limb I need repaired or replaced just didn’t have time to take the photos. But I do give her this. It seems like she puts more into her outside plants which are nice then she does the gym.

I visited this gym on Sunday around 5 PM and asked the front desk for help with signing up and to take a quick tour of the facility. The staff member refused to assist with the signup and wouldn’t allow a tour, telling me to come back at another time. I felt discriminated by the way I was treated and left disappointed by the lack of customer service. I hope they improve sign-up assistance and make tours more accessible, and ensure all customers are treated respectfully.

Honestly used to think this gym was really good, until I was put on bed rest and couldn’t go to the gym for awhile. Tried to cancel my membership and it was basically dragged out. I was told I couldn’t cancel until a 30 day notice of next month was paid, which it was and they continued to charge me for this month. Then I called back to make sure it was cancelled and the front office guy who handles cancellations refused to cancel it, stating I had to pay ANOTHER month. He was beyond rude and contradicting everything he said when I have an email and payments with dates of proof of him acknowledging the cancellation and the payments being made. He refused to allow me to speak to the owner or give me any information to reach out to them to get it resolved, he then told me he’s not going to help me and just send my account to collections and hung up. It’s astounding the customer service these days and the ways they just try to make money and not give two craps about someone who has been put on bed rest for medical reasons. I will not go to the gym once I’m off bed rest I can guarantee that. My business will be taken elsewhere and I highly recommend others do the same. Such a let down.

A decent old school style gym, personally in my opinion one of the best gyms you can go to in the Cape. Open 24hours, decently priced and a lot of equipment to choose from. Now I've been to many gyms, including lifetime fitness gyms in other states, this isn't a luxury gym and you're not paying those prices either. Great place to get a workout in and have your own space.

I haven't work out in years. This gym does it for me. It's suitable for all my needs. If you don't like the equipment on one side there is the other side with newer equipment. I don't see a problem with Cleanliness but I don't use the lockers. Did change in there once I saw no problems.

I didn’t like this gym, it is horrible, I barely can see because the lights are so weak, also all the gym stinks; and I’m not even going to talk about the bathroom smells like old urine and the lights are even worse there. Also there is so many machines out of services and for the price monthly it is ridiculous. Also today was my first time going to that gym and they didn’t even gave me a free pass like other gyms always do. I had to pay 10 dollars to go one day and I just waste my money because I had to leave in 30 min because I couldn’t even breath because of the smell

Update: The gym has now given me a refund for the remainder of the year. I am happy with that outcome and only wish that they would have done the right thing without me having to escalate. I am therefore raising my rating from one to three stars.

My issue begins with the childcare. The very sweet childcare worker informed me that my three year old jumped on a chair and threw a toy. I agreed that was a behavior that I would work on.

The next morning the manager informed me that my children were no longer welcome there. She said that I had been warned three times about behavior issues. This is simply not true. The day before was the first that I had heard about anything. In fact any time I asked how the children did I was told that they were great. I tried to have a discussion with the manager to understand what had happened and she was very rude, dismissive, and talked over me. My children are good kids but they are kids. I expect to be informed of any behavior issues and if there were any other incidents the gym failed to inform me.

I tried to adjust my schedule to go by myself without the children but am unable to do so with any sort of regularity. The way the manager handled the situation also made going to the gym unpleasant, even on my own.

I decided that the gym just simply wasn't a good match and the use really was contingent upon childcare, so went to cancel my membership. I had paid ahead for the year. I was informed that they would not be able to refund me any money. I am not an unreasonable person. I would of course expect them to keep money for any months used, equipment fees, even a cancellation fee.

This is not a business that has dealt honestly with me. They failed to inform me of any issues that had, the manager was disrespectful when I tried to talk to her and deceitful when she said that I had been told three times about behavior issues. The refusal to try to make any attempt refund what is owed is also a form of dishonesty.

I am sure that my review will make little difference to the management or owners of Mid Cape.

If you intend to use the childcare, be aware that they are not equipped to handle developementally expected behavior (that I would have been happy to help correct if they had given the opportunity).

Do not expect to be treated with any degree of reasonableness or respect. Certainly don't expect for them to deal honestly with you.

I personally just didn’t enjoy it here. A lot of the equipment is super old and worn out, or just broken down. Also, if you place a value on back day, they barely have any equipment for it. And the ventilation is terrible. It’s hot in there and some areas would smell musty. I think people over exaggerate it being difficult to cancel or that the terms are misleading. There’s technically no cancellation fee. There is however an annual fee you agree to upon signing that comes out on your 3rd month from when you sign up. That must be paid, even if you cancel before 3 months. I recommend spending $10 for the day pass and trying it out yourself. You might like it, but this gym just wasn’t for me.

I will just continue to say what the other reviews say, this gym will not allow you to cancel! I went in person twice and was told to send them an email with my contact information and approving one more charge with my 30 day notice to cancel. I did that and they continued to charge me. I then disputed the charge with my bank and provided proof of my cancellation. They now have tried sending me to collections. I will continue to dispute these charges, but warn anyone from joining this gym.

Honestly I did enjoy this gym and probably never would’ve cancelled if I hadn’t moved 35 mins away. Mainly my only complaint is how ridiculous their cancellation policy is. They make it almost impossible for anyone who works full time to be able to cancel. You can’t cancel on the weekends, over the phone, or online. You can only cancel in person Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm. I rushed in there today and made it there at 3:20 just for the front desk guy to tell me I can’t cancel because it’s passed 3pm. Oh yeah - there’s also a $21 cancellation fee. You can’t tell me that policy wasn’t designed to prevent people from being able to cancel. Other than that it’s a pretty decent gym.

In a city where your work out options are Crunch(full of scammers and children), and many other sketchy gyms…. Midcape is a light in the darkness. Mid cape is the only place that offers a clean, old school style gym, with more than enough weight options for all lifters. One of the most important parts of a gym you decide to start working out is the other people that lift there, and I can say first hand the standard occupant of mid-cape seems to be older crowds, couples, and pro fighters, offering a safe and family friendly dynamic. The equipment is older but still very safe, and honestly the aged equipment is not a problem in comparison to other gyms in the area. Highly recommend this gym to all of my “don’t wanna be bothered” types out there, that just want to go to the gym to make gains. Check them out, rates are very affordable as well

I leave the worst comments to this gym. When I came to start my membership everything was fine and then to cancel it I had to come 5 times and it was always a different excuse until they finally managed to cancel it and I had to pay almost 100 dollars supposedly that the card had been declining. Something that is not possible because it is a credit card and I have been seeing the monthly charges from the gym on it. It seems like a scam to me. I do not recommend it.

The office has to do a better job of notifying the customers of changes. Sticking a note on the door is not satisfactory in this day and age. Hurricane Milton was a great example of this. I asked the desk if they notified the patrons about closing and was told that they were in a rush to close so they just put a note on the door. We knew that Milton was coming a week in advance and knew that it was going to be a major hurricane several days in advance. A website notification or a note on social media would help. Even their phone messaging system is not attended to. Come on Mid Cape you can do better.

Been a member for over a year. I work out mornings and lately evenings. Mornings are an older crowd. Evenings are a younger crowd. Around the clock fitness closed across the street so it's gotten more crowded.

Pros - fairly large and when it's not busy equipment is available. Price is fairly inexpensive.

Cons - You get what you pay for. Equipment is old and a large amount of equipment that's broken. No standards. As I type, 3 young men without shirts on working out. Approached staff only to met with the only clothing requirement is to not wear open toe shoes. Even this is not enforced. But who wants sweaty half naked people working out on equipment without wiping it down. Wi-Fi is there but doesn't work. Air filters don't appear they've been changed in a year or longer. There's no air circulation so everywhere is muggy, especially the locker rooms.
Good luck getting any issues resolved thru ownership. Each time I've requested their contact information I've been denied. So I pass along my information. No response.

At some point I will move along to a better gym or join the old people in the morning. And this gym will close down only to have someone else try again to get it right.

I just signed back up to this gym after a couple years of not attending a gym.
Pros:
you never have to wait for a machine.
The mornings are great bc not alot of people.
Most members are dressed appropriately
Everyone is friendly
Classes included
Daycare option included
Cons:
No amenities like steam room sauna etc..
Showers are mostly clean but not stocked with soap etc
Many many broken equipment.
To many machines are broken and/ or missing parts, rusted, dangerous to be on. They really need to fix and upgrade equipment. This is very unacceptable. ( since I have posted this they have put signs up on elipticals that they are replacing them before Christmas 2024)

I like the convenience of this gym and the fact it's not packed.
But.. I'm not sure we will be staying at this gym due to all the equipment issues. I guess I would rather wait for machines then use broken ones.

SCAM, canceled the subscription via email to admin and in person with the manager back in May. Come to find out they are STILL charging me even after they said WITH THEIR OWN WORDS that everything is canceled and no more charges would be occuring. For people seriously considering joining this gym: all the reviews about how difficult they make it to cancel are true! Don't be like me and fall for this scam of a gym. Just tried to cancel myself less than a month after signing up, and ok they charge you for another month you will not use their membership. But they have the NERVE to charge the annual fee on top of that in order to cancel when they specifically told me at time of signing up that I will not be charged those fees if I cancel within the first 3 months!!!! No wonder they have an F rating on BBB. They fully deserve it.

I have a membership here, and I have been getting charged an extra 20 dollars a month. For a late fee, but the card they have on file has the money on it. When I called to try and get it resolved the guy on the phone was pretty rude about it and said that there is nothing they can do about billing.

Worse than any other gym I've tried to leave. If you try to cancel your membership, you may end up in a lawsuit to get your membership cancelled, like me. I was called out of town for several months due to work. As a result, I wanted to cancel my membership temporarily until I returned to Florida. After this experience, not only will I not be rejoining this dumpster fire of a gym, but I if I don't receive a refund for my cancelled membership within the next several business days I will also be filing a suit in small claims court. What a nightmare just to cancel a membership!! They asked me to send an email to their admin site but then conveniently say they never received it however, I have documented evidence that they did indeed receive and open the email. I will also be filing a claim with the BBB if they are associated with them. When I called back to discuss they were rude, yelled over me, or just refused answer 36 of my calls in a row... They are literally the WORST! NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR BANKING INFORMATION!!! They are still trying to charge a card that has been expired for the last several weeks and in fact the only way I realized I was still being charged was that I got a call from their management company stating my card was declined. IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE DECLINED... FOREVER! I will tell every single person I know what a absolute trash can this gym and it's owners are. Oh, they also won't tell you who you need to speak with in order to get it resolved. When I asked Adrian who I could call back and ask for, she said "I have been told not to tell you that". What an absolute joke! You won't even tell me the name of the person I need to speak with to resolve the issue???

The only reason I am giving them a 1 is because I can't give them a zero. I am getting ready to have a shoulder replacement surgery. I wanted to postpone my membership but that is not an option unless you want to pay for it. So I came in what I thought was 30 days prior to end the membership. Ends up it was 28 days and they would not let me cancel unless I paid for another month. They were very dismissive, unsympathetic and basically just want to get every dime they can force out of you. I was going to rejoin once I healed but not now. If being a valued customer is important to you, this is not the place you want to come.

A great gym that has a variety of equipment, from free weights to cable machines, squat racks etc., gym staff is friendly and helpful, I personally think the best gym crowd is the community that is in the gym between 7am to around 1-2pm you have a variety of different level fitness influencers and experienced lifters and trainers, it’s a good crowd.. everyone cleans up after themselves, and keeps equipment clean! I would have given this review a 5 star but as for the night crowd of young teens that are in the gym it is beyond insane, the gym is an absolute mess at night kids never pick up after themselves or clean equipment, always on their phones wasting time holding up
Equipment… due to my work life occasionally I have to hit a late evening/night gym hour and try to get a decent workout in….it is what it is, I wouldn’t be so bad if the kids at night would just pick up after themselves!!

The majority of the cardio machines are very old and even make a squeaky noise when they are being used. There’s a yearly 100 dollar fee which is probably for maintenance but the majority of the equipment is not well maintained. Like most gyms they have hired unprofessional teenagers that make fun of the members as they check in and leave. The toilets are dirty most of the times I’ve gone into to use them.

I had similar experiences. Gym was fine, yearly fee a bit of a surprise. Dumbest policy was you have to come in to cancel. That was obnoxious. I wanted to cancel during covid for obvious reasons, couldn't use it.. These a holes tried to insist I come in. I had to beach slap them but I was finally able to get it canceled. Don't have stupid policies, what are you gaining??

When I signed up I asked if there was a yearly fee or hidden fees the employee said and I quote
*nope, just the monthly membership fee. "
There's a 70 something dollar yearly fee that came out 3 months later.
You can only cancel m-f 7am-3pm
So if you have a job you basically need to take time off work to cancel

Update 4/13/23 - I've been here for over 2 years now. In this time, basically everything that's ever been broken, still is. The basic items are still needed. We all pay a yearly membership fee on top of monthly memberships. Use that money to buy some stuff. Maybe 3 total muscle clamp sets throughout the place. Still not enough barbells. Missing dumbbells. Real shady management style that makes you pay an extra month when you cancel because they require "30 days notice". Which is super sketchy because I asked the kid working the front desk in March when I could cancel my membership if I was moving out of state in April. He said to cancel it after my next withdrawal. Then, come to find out, they're going to charge you another month regardless, so they lie just to get another month out of you. It's only gone down hill since I've started and am glad to be leaving. Notice how ownership doesn't reply to a single review? They checked out

Probably should take care of that mold in the bathroom too.

I give this place 3 stars since it's just an average gym with so much potential. For example, the free weight room off to the right when you first walk in. It has 3 bench press and 2 squat rack. But there's only 4 45 lbs barbell bars, so there's always one machine you can't use. There's also only 2 sets of muscle clamps, which when you add in the preacher curl or smaller barbell bars, there's never enough clamps. It's the same thing in the other room. Lots of open machines with not enough clamps or bars to fill them up. The front room is always missing dumbbells and the ones that are there need attention to tighten up loose plates. Maybe fixing the broken mirrors and getting enough equipment to actually fill the machines and we could have a 5 star.

I would never join a facility where the General Manager/Owner makes offers of employment, to very qualified people, to only then retract the offer within 48 hours of extending. I’ve heard negative things about this facility and how it’s managed and now I’ve witnessed it myself. My recommendation, stay far away from this place as many more reputable establishments exist on the Cape and in Ft Myers. Don’t trust Mid-Cape Fitness.

The gym is run down, needs major revamping. Pretty expensive monthly rate compared to other gyms nearby, especially if you want to take classes. On top of it all, the customer service is not good. I decided to move gyms and cancel my membership, I called and was told my membership was canceled. Low and behold many months later I realize I am still being charged monthly and my membership was never canceled. I called the staff and was told in order to cancel I had to come in person Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. What normal working person can come in during those times without taking time off of work? Not only that but when I emailed then I was told that even though I had been charged for all of those months where my membership was supposedly canceled and the charge for that current month had just gone through a couple of hours before I sent the cancelation email, I had to pay yet another month due to their 30-day cancellation policy. Frankly, I heard of a lot of people speaking badly of this gym and how they had issues canceling but I didn't think it would be this difficult yet somehow I've been scammed into paying at least 6 months of gym fees and I still haven't gotten confirmation that my membership has been canceled.

After he being a member of this gym for almost 3 years I am disgusted by the way their staff handles situations.I was put on hold for 10 minutes by Adrian a because he was “looking for paperwork” a manager named Carmen came on the phone who had no clue of the situation and I had to explain myself all over again. I then get a call telling me that cancellation papers could not be found and that we would have to pay a late fee. When asked to send me the cancellation forms thru email, Carmen stated that it cannot be done. He was rude to my wife and when she asked for his superiors information he told her ‘you have to deal with me’. This gym must have changed owners because when we joined in 2019 things were not like they are now.

Water fountains are dirty, it actually makes you want to vomit when you taste the water cause the filters are never changed.

The workout equipment is torn and the majority of them are too dangerous to even sit and consider doing a set

Equipment broken and not repaired, some pieces not touched for eight months. Pads ripped and not repaired on the majority of equipment. Owners lie about getting repairs done. People…smh…please see how nice this place is for yourselves and do not go by these negative reviews..mask can be worn if you feel you need to wear one..your choice..disinfectant wipes are provided in multiple locations on the floors to wipe machines before using..and the locker rooms are really clean…go and judge for yourselves…I have no idea why the reviews are outrageously negative..smh..SWEAT SPOTS ARE NOT on the machines, etc…

I'm convinced their business model is to make it prohibitively difficult to cancel your membership so you just continue to go smh. Cancellation process is a single form, which can easily be emailed. Has to be completed in person, during working hours 7-3 M-F. Despite it being staffed until later hours. Who's taking time off work to cancel their gym membership? Also, men's locker room perpetually smells like walrus dookie.

Pros: affordable, open 24h, music selection, size/machine quantity

Cons: locker room, equipment maintenance, difficult cancellation, no mask policy

Been paying on my membership for five years. Been trying to cancel it since the very first year. Been there to use the facility....never. My only visits were to cancel. I tried stopping payment on my credit card, they threaten to sue me. Every time I come in to make a cancellation, they tell me “the manager” is not there and I need to come back.
