Rating 4 stars, only because some of the gym equipment has seen better days. The bikes work great, haven't seen anything malfunction yet, 2 older elliptical make a horrible noise when using. They have a indoor basketball court, and pool, they have a sauna and locker rooms upstairs. They keep the wipes stocked to clean the equipment. Everyone had been nice and polite. The gym usually only has maybe 5 people max, we've been 3 times now. The staff is very helpful when asked questions and are very polite. I would recommend giving the gym a try. They also have an outdoor gym with covering.

With not a single fit sailor in sight, there is no reason a base gym shouldn’t be open 24 hours. At least until midnight. Even McDonald’s and the bars on base are open later than the gym. All them sailors you got at the barracks messin around, you can’t set up a watch at the gym?

The staff were super helpful. The gym looks pretty small upon entry but after asking the employees if there was more, they directed me to the crossfit/functional fitness area tucked away in the back. Was surprised by how much equipment was available and it all seemed to be relatively new.

Every comfortable there. Staff is very helpful originally try to stay clear from Gym until I got my weight down, however started going to the gym on the base and the people are really nice and helpful no runway models or competition there the overall feel is down to earth decent and in order. Not to mention, the equipment is very clean The overall facilities are cling to include the showers and bathrooms

Went for the sauna and steam room. They are under renovation. They don't have towels anymore, guests are now $5.00. The parking was great. Update April 4th 2023 sauna up, steam room is still down.

Base Leadership needs to be more proactive in repairs not 7 months to a year in repairing short falls in maintenance repairs i give 1 star in caring to maintain the gym steam room and sauna time its repaired something else is wrong

The pool was awesome! It is a 25 yard by 50 yard pool. When I went it was configured for a 25 yard lap swim. The pool does not have lane or deep/shallow water buoys, but it does have lines at the bottom of the pool for guided lap swims. This pool also does not have the end of lane flags up making it kind of unsafe to practice back stokes or any stoke performed on the back.
Over all though, this was a nice large pool to swim in for that open water feel.

Learned how to swim with the help of the wonderful staff in the gym. You can walk into Walmart, get what you need, use the machine to check and never say a word to the staff. But not this gym. It's not just the place and good equipment, the people make it better.

This gym is up there with some of the best I've seen on a military base. Plenty of equipment, showers are hot, the sauna works most of the time and the pool is heated. It helps that they always have clean towels even during peak times. The staff is very friendly too.

This Gym is far beyond better than the gym at mayport. From quality all the way to customer service! I feel very welcomed every single morning I enter and exit the gym. Love the staff there and definitely will continue to exercise there.

This location is smaller than the fitness center. If used at the right time, it allows for a cozy and focused workout. The really is not floor space so, those that want to do floor exercises or multiple movements with dumbbells are better off using the fitness center.
The equipment is alright, but if money is limited it is the fitness center that will get the newest equipment.
The pool hours for lap swim is limited because it belongs to the AW school. Hours are restricted to when they are not using it.

Very old and lacking equipment. Inside has a musty/rusty smell because the age of the building. Equipment in the very small weight room is covered in a rusty residue. I suggest going to the fitness center behind the gym instead.
