Clean gym. Nice staff. Very poor selection of clssses.
I really miss my y in Hollywood Fl! Especially ab lab classes and good spin clssses.
Spin clsss with Jennifer was the worst I’ve been to. She didn’t introduce herself. No playlist. She didn’t help how the bike worked. ( cheap bikes)
I really hope the other instructor are more professional.
Gym is lacking some machines, like for obliques.. it’s not serious weightlifting gym!
Also doesn’t have a good triseps maschine and lacks free weights like 7 lbs.
If i could give this gym 0 stars I would.
The bathroom for ladies feels like steam room. The floor is slippery and filled with water. Law suit waiting to happen! lol
The spinning bikes are all broken, and the instructor blamed it on my shoes! Seriously!
I pay a lot of money for this gym that offers nothing.
Also there’s kids occupying the maschine when it’s busy. Really annoying

I’ve been going for about 3 years and I love it. However, now they cater to only men on the TV’s. Only sports, news or fishing. I asked yesterday to put on something like HGTV or FOOD network but said they can’t change channels. It really helps to have a distraction while doing 45 minutes on treadmill! Something a little interesting on the tv’s near treadmills and elliptical equipment.

A Hidden Gem for YMCA Members Visiting Daytona
We were recently in Daytona for a karate tournament (traveling from Texas), and one of our favorite perks when on the road is being able to use our YMCA membership wherever we go. Just a short 15-minute drive from Daytona, we discovered the Ormond Beach YMCA—and it exceeded our expectations in nearly every way.
From the extended hours to the wide range of amenities and welcoming staff, this facility delivered a top-tier experience—one I genuinely wish we could replicate at our home YMCA.
As a big fan of EGym, I was thrilled to find a full EGym lineup here. But that’s just the beginning. The facility also features:
Stretching racks
TRX suspension trainers
A punching bag
Upright and recumbent bikes
A comprehensive array of resistance machines and free weights
Everything was in excellent working condition, and the space was clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully laid out.
Locker Room Excellence The men’s locker room was another standout: electronic lockers, a sauna, private showers, and restrooms—all spotless and seemingly brand new. It’s the kind of setup that makes you wish your home Y took notes.
Bonus Amenities While we didn’t use them, we noticed a full spin room, a large outdoor pool, and a fenced kids’ play area with a playscape—great options for families.
Ongoing Improvements, Zero Disruption Though it looks like they’re still making upgrades to the facility, none of that interfered with our visit. If anything, it shows their commitment to continuous improvement.
Staff That Makes You Feel at Home What really sealed the experience was the people. Everyone we interacted with was approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Ashley at the front desk handled the visitor check-in with a smile and made navigating the facility easy. And Chris, one of the trainers, kindly paused his own work to help me set up two EGym machines we don’t have at our home Y—above-and-beyond service that made a great impression.

The gym is really great following the renovations. I am giving a 1 star review because of the cancellation policy. Like many other gyms, this YMCA has opted to force members to sign a termination agreement in person. My understanding is that there is no real reason for such a policy other than to make it less convenient for members to cancel their memberships with the hopes of collecting extra payments.

We have been a member for a little over a month and we are already thinking about leaving. We originally signed up for the Y for the use of the pool and swim lessons for our daughter. She is 3.5 and was excited about her lessons. We sign her up for the group lessons and they tell us that they are for 8 days with makeup days on Fri and Sat. Her lessons are at 4 so for two weeks weve made accommodations to get her there whether that be grandma taking her or one of us leaving work early. Monday goes well and she makes friends with a couple kids in her class. Tuesday rolls around and they cancel due to weather which is understandable but hard on a young child as she isn't getting any consistency or repetition. Wednesday she goes and its a bit rocky as she is basically starting over as she has had a day in between. Thursday she goes with grandma and finds out that there are other kids in her class for a make-up day which we were told was on Fri or Sat. 1 instructor that wasn't her original with 8 or 9 kids. At 30 min thats maybe 3 to 4 minutes with each kid and she was wondering where her original teacher was. We were told that it was only 6 to a class at the most. Today (Friday) they cancel her make up day from Tuesday. This is the first week and she basically hasn't done anything and is losing her motivation to go as she expects to and we keep telling her it's cancelled. This is completely unacceptable as we understand these are affordable swim lessons but she should at least get her consistent time in for the two weeks. I will update after we find out what the resolution will be but this isn't a great impression as to how this is run. We are just considering leaving the Y all together as no one has even helped in any way as her mom was told something to the extent of "im just the front desk person" and someone will email you and thats the person to bring these issues up with. Absolutely no help at all so far. Gave 2 stars the facility is fine and no one has been rude, just not helpful. Its been an inconvenience and a major dissapointment to our daughter.
6/30/25 Monday
Signed her up for lesson this year and am in the parking lot updating this. 1st day of new lessons and we walk in 10 minutes before the start time and they tell us they have been cancelled due to the instructor calling moments before to cancel. Since when is it acceptable to call to notify of an absence 10 minutes before you are supposed to be teaching a class barring a major emergency? This is unacceptable. Daughter in tears again. They apologized but we asked for a refund and cancelled her lessons. This YMCA is unprofessional and lacks any type of competent management. Its apparent by all we have experienced last year (previous review) and now this year that certain people here simply don't care. This Y location has been a major dissapointment for anything involving lessons.

The location is nice, but the program is poorly organized and lacks adequate staffing. The classroom space is small and shared with large, noisy groups, making it chaotic. There are no educational activities, and the counselors don’t offer enough help for younger kids who need assistance with sunscreen or changing for swim time.
Swimming supervision is a major concern—only one lifeguard is present, and counselors don’t go in the water, leaving too few eyes on the children. For the cost of this program, I expected a much safer and more supportive environment. I wouldn’t recommend it for younger children.
While the location is nice, this camp lacks organization and adequate staffing. The classrooms are small and shared with large, chaotic groups, and there are no educational activities to engage the kids. Counselors don’t provide enough help with basic needs like applying sunscreen or getting changed for swim time.
The most concerning issue happened during pick-up—my daughter and niece were nearly lost when my sister was trying to sign them out. Staff had no idea where they were, which is completely unacceptable and alarming.
Swim time is also unsafe, with only one lifeguard and no counselors in the water. For the cost of this program, I expected much better care and supervision. I would not recommend this camp for younger children.

NEW Review:
I am again going to swim classes plus with a friend for just relaxing in the pool
They have had a tremendous upgrade with the Ormond Beach facility and are continuing to do more.
First: Ladies locker room
The ladies locker room is exceptional and closer to the main desk.
You won't have to go so far back down the hall.
There are different areas for different needs.
The dressing rooms are apart from the bathroom which are apart from the shower and sauna. They all meet up in the same room with an enormous mirror station. Oops, forgot lockers.
Beautiful new up to date lockers.
******************************
Ormond Y Master's, Hydro4, Masters.
Wellness center, discounts on programs. Especially if you are a member of silver sneaker.🧓👵👴
Group exercise, including Les Mills,
basketball. 🏀
They also have indoor cycling, 🚲
a kid zone and more. 🚸
I forgot the ladies locker room.
It has a sauna, a steam room, showers and.changing areas.
(This is the best part for me)➡️ they have hair dryers and close-up mirrors so you can put your makeup back on.
Wahoo 👩🎤💄
The only thing now is they're changing to their fall schedule and that is not out yet.🍃
There are no annual fees no contracts.

Right now I'm doing water aerobics .👙🙆🙅🤷
Even though I cannot swim, I don't have any balance, and the starts from 4 ft which comes up to my neck up to way over my head. (I don't know because it would be the death of me to find out 🌊
Oh and yes, hours 🕔🕗are from
5am- 8pm Mon-Sat. No Sunday's
I'm really enjoying myself
( I've gone 1 day) but had my pass for 2 years. No one would go with me so I always chickened out.🐔
But, I'm doing myself this time a-ha
and all the members are kind enough to help you out. YAY

Happy to have added the Ymca to our families routine. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The locker rooms are beautifuly renovated and clean. The gym is never overly crowded when I go and a pleasant place for us to get exersice. I love the E-gym, as someone who wasn't confident lifting weights, it makes it pretty fool proof. Sarah E was a great help in getting us set up. Wish more yoga classes were offered durring the day on week days.

The summer basketball league run by Matt is a joke. They pick and choose certain players like sometimes they let them play and other times they say they are too old. How do you even do that when you have 19-year-olds playing? And when they are age-appropriate you say they are too old when they are not! The scoreboard people are half the time not even paying attention. YMCA definitely is not what it used to be.

People need to know the back parking lot has zero cameras… so safety is an issue
My car was recently a victim of someone because I parked on wrong side of cone. In the very back of lot
Eight obscene vulgar cards put on every piece of glass. Hood scratched and stuffed one cone under my car and put two more up against car on each side
There are no signs explaining cones
Cancelled my membership It was my first day!

I have joined YMCAs in several locations throughout the country and the Ormond Beach location is the best. Sure, the mens locker room needs an upgrade, but that is in the works with all of the amazing renovations going on. The gym itself has an incredible set of modern equipment and a great vibrant atmosphere to workout in. The pool is beautiful but the real hidden gems are the instructors and classes. Taking one of Angie's classes is an experience that will motivate you to keep returning to get your body and mind in shape and appreciate this great gift.

Just moved here from west coast of Florida where I belong to the y there. Went to Ormond y today and so disappointed. The water was so dirty even after rinsing my bathing suit with shampoo it smelled like swamp water. Lifeguard said yes it looked dirty and they shocked it last night. Every time my pool was shocked I had to wait 24 hours to swim. It was cloudy and greenish. Then I hear it’s not universal and I’ll have to pay to go there. I’m 70 years old and handicapped. I would never pay to go to that y. Locker room and shower also disappointing. Told the lifeguard, I’ll go swimming in the ocean.

My husband and I are seniors and I am in a wheelchair so we started coming to the pool 4 or 5 years ago it was wonderful until last year. We like to come and walk in the end with the steps I can’t access the pool any other way and walking in water is the only exercise I can do. We also pay 48 dollars a month to just use the pool. I was told today we could use it at 9 and water arobics then maybe in the afternoon but seems to me the seniors who pay all year are shutout when summer come and kids camp begins. We just want to come and enjoy the pool like we once did. Also we still paid when we couldn’t come during the pandemic. Looks like good management could figure out a schedule that would be good for everyone so sad Donna Pittman

The kids zone needs to be updated as asap, YMCA is supposed to be based for families yet they are trying to get rid of the basketball court where the youth play volleyball, basketball and even the younger children love to play in, and they only offer someone to show you how the machines work at 11am which is always full. It took them 2 months to schedule someone to show me the machines and an hour off from work since they only do it that early. I also wish they had Zumba classes during later times like other gyms for people who work. With that being said the staff is very friendly, and the park and pool are gorgeous!

Please avoid this YMCA at all cost. Incompetent staff and absolutely no follow through. I will be issuing a complaint to corporate for the rude way that I was treated by the front desk associate Sherry, who refused to listen and hung up on me twice when I called to inquire about my refund. She was the same person that claimed to have initiated it 6 days prior. Dealing with this place became a nightmare, when all I wanted was private swim lessons for a 3 year old. I do hope management listens to recorded phone calls and hears the way she spoke to me.

Nothing but issues with their child care program. Previously we had our kid at the DeLand location and it was much better ran. Anyone can walk right up and pick up a child. They never check your I.D. We hired a new baby sitter and she commented on the fact that she could walk right in and no one asked anything. The DeLand location you aren't allowed to walk in, they bring your child out. Also they have to be signed out and verified. Sometimes I find myself walking around the facility looking for my child because they're not 100% sure where he is 🤦. Every day we come home with incident reports. Since we've signed him up he's gotten slapped, punched, eyebrow cut with a water bottle thrown at his face, and most recently another child bit him leaving bruising. There's no sense of leadership and management. It seems the counselors just hang out while the children have a free for all in the playground. Our kid is no angel, we aren't that naive. But, it's the employees responsibility to try and prevent all these incidents. Like I said I never had issues at the DeLand YMCA. When asked about the incidents they have a real clueless look on their face. Unfortunately there wasn't any reviews about the facility when we signed up so we're writing this to warn other parents & hopefully they improve the way it's being run.

Both my kids started playing recreational soccer here. And we all enjoy it so much! They have fun mixed teams with both boys and girls and beginners to more experienced players who all show some amazing sportsmanship. Games are exciting and their coach Ariel is awesome!
The gym is packed with new and awesome equipment, they also offer some guided gym activities like HIIT and the full body shape group class Are all great if you need a little motivation like I do 😉
Kids also started junior league swimming to enhance their stroke techniques.
This place is great for young to old, no excuses anymore to be out of shape 😁

Signed my daughter up for swimming, basketball and now volleyball in hopes ot would get better.
1. Swimming - we did do afternoon classes during the summer so of course quite a few got rained out. But no offer after requests of make up classes or money back
2. Basketball - she wanted to try basketball. We get there and instead of instruction, they just let kids play. We'll she doesn't know all the rules and was totally turned off. We did only the one class and then asked for our money back
3. Volleyball - figured one last shot. While I get 2 hurricanes threw a wrench into planning, in a period of one month, we got 2 different schedules and then told the day before the playoff game it was 9am on Saturday instead of 6pm. We had one practice and the rest were games. How can kids learn if they can't practice before playing others?
As a organization that caters to athletic sports, I can't understand how they can be so completely disorganized and unable to get information out correctly the first time.
Needless to say, we will not be back and would never recommend this to any other families that want their kids to be in a sport.

I have been going to this gym on and off for roughly 16 years. The new equipment and gym floor space, i rate 5 stars. The organization of the equipment is 2 stars. All the weights have gotten out of hand and are now scattered amongst the different stations. Not only is it an annoyance to stop and search for weights. But with how badly things are put up, I can see a serious foot injury waiting to happen. I hope more will be done, than just a note for people to ignore. Not trying to be a Karen, but its bad. Please fix that.

Always enjoy this YMCA! They have far more to offer than most Y's plus the Olympic size pool. After being diagnosed with serious knee issues and being told I must get low impact exercise on a regular basis this pool has become my new best friend. The new gym is outstanding however with my issues swimming works better. They also offer multiple exercise group classes and water aerobic classes.

We’ve been in town for 2 weeks so we decided to get a month’s family membership. The staff is friendly and always have smiles on their faces. The equipment is great, large locker rooms and we absolutely love the pool!

Recently joined and so far only used the gym/locker rooms. Locker rooms desperately need an overhaul. Gym is nice, recently updated, very nice equipment. There are a few pieces they don't have that I could really use, but overall pretty good. Love that they offer a 24hr access option for the fitness gym.

I went inside here today and was met with a plus plus customer service I cannot remember the last time I was treated so kindly in a place of business. Sherry helped me with all of the clerical work and even called me after when there was a question about something on the paperwork super kind super helpful!!!! I showed up to register my child for summer camp and the summer camp coordinator Matt was not in however an individual named Martin was and he without question or hesitation took me back and showed me the establishment where my child would be it was beautiful and clean. It looked great.
This place is under construction at the moment but the places that are finished look amazing and the places that still need work I can tell are going to be just as good the pool is huge and gorgeous and the playgrounds are in a nice wooded area.
The location of this facility is absolutely perfect I look forward to my daughter's summer here with confidence that she will be safe and have fun will update if anything changes.

We really want to like the Y and have considered joining. People seem nice but they are very disorganized and digitally behind the times. Two big complaints:
1. I signed my daughters up for private swim lessons. I came in person to fill out the paperwork, despite a broken ankle and living 20 minutes away, but the paperwork was never entered into the system. After the first swim lesson, we waited for 20 minutes for them to find the paperwork. I asked them to please enter it into the system so I could promptly pay after the next weeks lessons. It was so frustrating to return a week later and go through the entire process again while my cold and hungry daughters waited patiently.
2. To sign up for summer swim lessons, I am told that I have to go to the front desk in order to secure a quickly filling spot (again 20 minutes away and broken ankle). It has been so frustrating and inconceivable that simple things like class enrollment cannot be done online like all other major fitness clubs.
Others have already mentioned the state of disrepair and the awful locker rooms. I believe in what the Y stands for and would love to support the mission, but goodness, a little organization and digital competency would go a long way to a better experience. I do hope we are outliers. My point in writing this review is to give an honest assessment to other parents considering programing and to encourage the admins to please invest in physical and digital updates.

I understand the locker room is to be eventually remodeled. I hope the YMCA board will consider putting in a "Far Infrared Sauna." I would maintain my membership for that alone. Far Infrared Saunas heat you deeper. It is very good for arthritis, muscle pains, etc. The warm up time and energy costs are probably significantly less. The remodeled gym is very nice!

Dog park only. Great find bc my poor dogs have been needing to run their energy out while we are traveling. It was very muddy but that's what you get when it rains. Mud washes off. They also have a gated hose off area if you prefer a wet dog in your vehicle to a muddy dog. We really enjoyed it.

Scam to unsign as a member. They require you to sign 15 days before you leave. Apparently 14 days, 1 day short isn't enough time in advance. I will never be going to another YMCA again.

We’ve been members for over 10 years. It’s just not the same as it used to be. Bathrooms are filthy (men’s locker room)
We don’t use the facilities much anymore so we’re thinking of canceling. Outside of the building has mold from rarely if ever being pressure cleaned. Not worth the investment IMO

My view is that if you can't provide a service, then you shouldn't offer the service, cost issue is between your agency and insurance company.

I'm a regular visitor using silver sneakers classes and adult classes for seniors. Two and three days a week. I've also enjoyed water aerobics and stretch classes. The sauna and changing rooms are available for quick in-between appointments, and I'm looking forward to trying the massage therapist in the future. Love this place. Friendly helpful staff. Totally welcoming. I encourage you to try this place out.
