I've been a planet fitness black member for several years. Im seriously thinking of switching to another gym because pf hasnt been treating their members very well as of late with several gyms I've been to across the US including this one.

I couldn't check in with my phone number even though it was programmed into the system by my home gym.

The water pressure at the shower is weak. The water is cold. The changing rooms are filthy. There's obnoxious heavy metal music playing in the shower space/room at night.

The employees can't do anything about.

What am I paying for im asking myself...

If I keep having unpleasant experiences with planet fitness it is definitely time to consider a gym that appreciates and respects their brand hence their customers...

I came on a Friday. I read on Google they close at 10. I got there at 9:20. I just wanted to do tanning for a few minutes and total body enhancement.

Only one stand up tanning booth was operational and it was taken. The guy at the desk said I could do the total body and he would make sure I get into the tanning booth as soon as I get out.

I get out and the girl working there put someone else in the booth. So I had to do the lay down bed.

They cut my total body session short and then cut the lay down tanning bed session short.

They said they close at 9:45. It’s that’s the case just post that on the door, website, and google. This is my first one will be my last time coming to this location.

If you are on the fence about joining here, just sign up with another gym.

Came in to see about signing up for a membership. I'm a beginner to most gym equipment and am interested in learning to lift weights and find out what routines will be best for me specifically for my fitness goals. The staff was not unfriendly, but they told me that their gym had absolutely no one there who would be able to help me learn the equipment or with anything specific. The girl at the counter showed me some videos I could access on the app if I really wanted to. She didn't even talk to me about which videos would be helpful for me. She just kind of passed me the tablet and seemed disinterested. Pretty disappointed with my experience; not necessarily blaming anyone who worked there, but I'm very surprised that they don't have a single employee who can help people one-on-one, even someone willing to pay for the service.

Stopped in for a late Sunday workout. Front desk staff was completely disengaged—head down on their phone, didn’t acknowledge a single person walking in. The gym is uncomfortably warm, especially on the free weight floor, with minimal airflow. A couple of large fans back there would go a long way. Lighting is also inconsistent—too dim in most areas, and overly harsh in others (like the rear floor space where you do core work and end up staring into a spotlight).

Equipment overall is pretty dated and worn down. My home gym just replaced newer machines than what this place still has. There are a few newer Matrix pieces that are nice, but most of the gear is aging Life Fitness and Precor. Strange layout, too—cable attachments are tucked along a wall far from the cable machines.

It’s not awful, but definitely not worth the 4+ star rating. Just average.
2.5/3 and I’ll bump it to 3 as the phone loving associate in all black wished me well as I walked out.

Let me start by saying how much I love Planet Fitness in general. I travel a lot and have used Planet Fitness gyms all around the US - you just can't beat it for the price! However... in saying that, this is the worst of any of their gyms that I've been to... The equipment is old and they keep it so hot in there (which also means it's really humid, too) that the equipment is rusting, and because of that, you can't adjust half of the equipment properly. They spent money on things like the ability to check yourself in for tanning and massage chairs, but won't spend the money on keeping the gym cool or equipment maintained. It's clean enough, but if you don't have equipment that works well, what's the point? If you are the manager of this gym, please take note! Turn your air conditioner down a few degrees and maintain/update your equipment, please!

What’s the point of bringing a guest under my black card privileges if we BOTH can't use the amentities such as the massage chair?? BUT.. I bring my guest and every other machine is out of service??? I've been working out here since 19 and am considering canceling my membership and never rejoining because of that alone! Fix your policies. My guest won’t join now that you've turned them away from using the massage chair too! Good selling point!!!

I was happily with planet fitness for years paying $10 a month. I made a huge mistake of deciding to upgrade to the black card membership. I tried using the tanning booth and got a horrific burn. It caused me 3 days of horrific pain and almost lost my job over it. Nobody advised me that I needed to use a special tanning cream nor advised me how long I should have stayed in the booth as a beginner.
Within the same month of having the black card membership, I wanted my classic membership back. They wanted to start charging me $16 a month instead of the $10 a month as I was paying.
Although the staff members are friendly, I decided to cancel my membership 😔

Excellent, the night shift is excellent. It's always clean. The staff is very friendly. I'd like to make two recommendations: add more Body-Solid Fixed Weight Barbells, but heavier ones. Add a hip thrust machine. I've seen many women use the Smith machine for this.

The condition of the men's showers is appalling and the handicapped chair is a health hazard it fell on my leg while I was showering if that's what you can even call what I was doing in such a disgusting place with barely any water pressure, I've attached a photo you're lucky I don't sue you. If this is infected I'll be calling an attorney. That chair is not only disgusting it's not secured and the plastic safety caps are gone so when it fell it cut my leg. I have this place saved under HORRIBLE SHOWERS DO NOT GO. I've been a local guide for a long time and rarely give one star reviews but considering I pay $400 a year not to workout, but to SHOWER, I felt compelled to make this public.

Overall it's a really nice gym. The only complaint that I have is I that more than once I have watched a planet fitness trainer bring a client into the 30 minute routine area to use one machine then return to the regular area. They shouldn't be teaching people that using a machine in the 30 minute area because the others are in use is ok. Beyond that the gym is well maintained, the staff is friendly, and I would definitely recommend using this gym.

I have been coming to this gym for quite a while now and up until now I’ve absolutely LOVED how welcoming and how clean and accessible this gym is. It’s affordable and the staff is typically always very nice and attentive….until today. So- story time- my car was involved in an accident previously so while it’s being repaired in the body shop, I am having to ride a motorized electric scooter. Until now, the staff has been very understanding and has allowed me to bring my scooter inside of the building so it does not get stolen. Let’s be honest I grew up in this area and it isn’t the best neighborhood. There is a ton of drug activity and crime in the area and if left unattended outside it will most definitely be stolen. The attendant, who is brand new or at least this is my first time seeing him and I have been coming here every single day for quite some time, said that they are “cracking down” on “that sort of thing” and said I’m not allowed to have my scooter inside of the premises. Let me be clear, not cracking down on crime, cracking down on having a scooter inside. (Apparently). Now this is not a moped. This is not a bicycle that has loops and crevices that I’m able to loop a chain through, it’s a motorized large version of, let’s say: a razor scooter, for comparison purposes.
I have had this scooter inside so many times prior to this. In the lobby. In the locker room, wherever the attendant allows/requires. I am very disappointed and now have to sit outside of the gym in the heat with my belongings and patiently wait for my boyfriend to get off work and drive down here so that he can put my scooter in his vehicle so that I am able to workout. I have never, ever been in this type of situation and I am very very disappointed in staff right now. Everyone has different circumstances. Things happen. Alternate methods of transportation need to be used occasionally. I am not happy that this is how planet fitness is choosing to operate especially because I have never had this issue and have done this numerous times in the past. I am all of a sudden being dismissed from being able to have a healthy workout due to the fact that I do not want my property stolen. If it were $50 I’d take my chances and say whatever; but it’s over $500 and I have people close to me that would be very mad if I left it unattended outside.
Might I add, if there was a way to tie/chain this up, I would happily comply with keeping it outside hooked up to the bike rack- but it is impossible and there is no where and no way to tie a chain to this type of scooter. All you would have to do is pick up the scooter or move it and the chain would slip right off. I’ll provide an image as well so you can see what I mean. I’m disappointed. Truly.

I am updating my review. BEWARE !!! I am very disappointed with this location. Actually......location on Manatee Ave (NW Bradenton) also. I do not have too much time on my hands, I am making new members or members that are changing locations aware.
-14th St location: I moved into a new codo close by. My first visit was M.1.13.25. I was on the treadmill looking at a machine/equipment that I like to use. There was a younger "kid" sitting on the machine looking scrolling TT & IG for 20 minutes. When I went over there, he was still scrolling, I used a different machine waiting for him to do something. I finished and asked him if I could use the machine. He said sarcastically ''when I am finished''. I told him he was on his phone, and he said again sarcastically,'I am in between reps. When I was younger, I would have addressed him differently ! I did not engage. New manager, just a 16 year old kid there running everything at the front desk. The homeless and people without showers pay $10 per month and access to all bathroom, locker, and shower facilities. I do not like this location. Young rude group
-NW Bradenton. Staff are thieves. They stole my $150 bottle of Armani cologne out of my locker. They took all of my belongings out of 2 lockers I had with locks on them. I was unaware that you could not leave items in the locker(s) overnight. I left a business card in both lockers. No one called me to tell me that they bagged up my items in 2 trash bags. I went to my lockers, and the locks have been cut off with bolt cutters. I asked DAN (SO CALLED MANAGER) what happened to my belongings. He told me he cut the locks along with Alex. I asked him if he saw my Armani, Nike shoes, shirts when he opened lockers, Alex and Dan said they did not pay attention to items (BS). I told them they both were lying. Dan and Alex (4 eyes did not see what they were taking out and putting into bags ?? When I asked them where my stuff was, they said belongings were in lost and found, which was in a laundry room on the floor by the mop bucket and cleaning supplies. I said ''Really" I asked them why there was only one bag, they said they threw out the other bag (only 1). I was so disgusted. I hope that these 2 are the only corrupt employees there ?? Dan is very egotistic and condescending. BEWARE !!!!

I don't write a lot of reviews unless they are really deserving. That said this Planet Fitness deserves a very positive review. I have to compliment TY. I have been a member since the gym opened and she is by far the best Customer service agent at that location. She is always very courteous, caring and makes you feel very welcome. She greets most guests by name, always tells them to have a great workout and when you leave tells you to have a great day. She makes you feel very welcome! I miss her on the afternoon shift. Don't get me wrong the girls that work the afternoon shift are good too, but TY shines!!!! Must compliment the entire staff as well the gym is always clean and a pleasure to workout in. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking to join a good gym at a reasonable price.

I’ve been a member with this Planet Fitness since February of this year and have nothing but good things to say about the club itself and the majority of its employees. However today I called to ask a simple question about my membership, an employee by the name of Shane answered my call and I let him know that I needed help with my membership to which Shane just laughed and hung the phone up. I called back and Shane once again answered, I let him know it was the same person that he just hung up on calling back and of course he hung up again. I called back 2x after that and I’m assuming Shane was the one still answering and immediately hanging up the phone. After that I decided to call Planet Fitness on Manatee Ave, unfortunately I can’t remember his name but the employee was very nice and answered my question within seconds. Planet Fitness on 14th please do better with who you hire to do the basic job of answering a phone and customer questions.

I have been a member of this location for over five years. At one time, I gave this gym a glowing review. Sadly, the gym seems to be in a state of constant decline. The homeless seem to have a mission to take over. This has been an ongoing problem for well over a year now and did improve for a short time. Sadly, it seems to be difficult to keep employees, especially overnight, and they take full advantage of this by sneaking in, trashing the bathrooms/locker rooms, SLEEPING IN THE BLACK CARD AREA, SLEEPING ON THE HYDRO MASSAGE BEDS, etc. This has become a nightly occurrence and I know of members that have cancelled their memberships because of this. I am a black card member that does not want to use this perk due to not wanting to deal with a "flop house" environment. I too would have left but the location is very convenient but even convenience has its limits. Hopefully, management will get this turned around. Will never happen but a system like Anytime Fitness has where you have a fob to swipe to be allowed access, no fob, delinquent account, not a member, no access. Latest photo taken 08/29/23... Sometimes you just want to flop out in the locker room!!! This guy is making this his personal flop house. Can not make this up!!!

This is the second time reviewing this planet fitness. The place is cleaner than ever. The manager Jess makes sure of that. The people who work there are so nice and knowledgeable. This location is atrocious. Nothing ever gets cleaned, all the equipment is older than the great pyramids and the employees are never working. Not to mention it’s a revolving door of employees. Which really isn’t surprising because the manager is terrible. She never makes her presence known at any time of the day, spends most of her time in the office and is incredibly unprofessional. The bathrooms are horrid and I’ve seen dirty needles left sitting in there for days on end. No one is seemingly doing anything about anything at this gym to make it at least safe to be in. If you could put negative stars then that would be 100% of their ratings these days.

I was a member for exactly 2 weeks the better Business bureau rate them D- I. Say F. They were not friendly and kind as they said. They never trained me for any equipment or informed me about any policy's when I sign up and then they took my club membership away as they said first that I got sick that night and on my first night there.She stated she was tired of cleaning up after me. Then they said I broke a policy by staying in a room too long after my sessi I never threw up nor did they have any proof as I asked her to provide proof

They complicate guest check in, a lot of equipment is down, outdated, or sticky and gross. The bathrooms and showers were horrible. Limited technology and limited black card lounge. Not nice will not go back lasted less then 20 minutes there

This place does not deserves even one star, the showers are disgusting, they never clean it, full of homeless in the evening and they bring all their trash bags to inside of the dress rooms, wash their dirty dishes while they take baths, the floors and walls are filthy and smelled, the drains in the showers full of peaces of carrots, noodles, it looks like they take over, the staff that work after midnight specially the short guy with glasses very arrogant, rude, enter in the dress rooms not even check prior enter, i don’t know what for because in year and a half first time i see someone cleaning the showers was a member with clorox cleaner and she was complaining because they never clean the bathrooms and dress rooms and showers, the manager just got the paid check easily because the staff is constantly on their phones chatting. Its an embarrassment for a business but definitely the 14th street w is not a safe place to ho, a lots of of people sleeping in the cars over night, weed being smock constantly in that parking. I definitely will not renew my membership. They recently change management but i don't see any better, just worse because the staff that are overnight specially the short man with a glasses and bear i never see so much rudness and careless on my life. He is insolent and sarcastic, also the front area many times no one there.

I have been a Black Card member for a decade and hit many locations around the US and this was, hands down, the BEST location. All equipment worked, the gym was spacious, the TVs weren't all on the same channels in the cardio area and the sound for each matched the number of the TV, there was wifi and they even had a comfy lounge. I wish my home gym in Chicago (Little Village location) wasn't the polar opposite. My thoughts are that this owner(s) handles broken equipment within 24 hours instead of 24 days and actually listens to feedback from their guests. I certainly hope HQ uses this site as an example of what other owner-operated sites should strive to be.

Equipment could use some updates, usually fairly busy. But not uncomfortably so. Bathrooms need some TLC more often than they do. Can't beat the price though.

So I was nervous after reading some of the reviews here, but I went to join since it's the closest gym to where we are. This location is clean. Plenty of machines without fighting. Staff is helpful and friendly. Glad I joined!

Big space. Lots of equipment though not enough for anything hard core. Relatively clean. Disappointing that showers had no soap or shampoo,no hairdryer, etc. Pretty empty for such a big space.

I've been coming here for a few days since You fit closed. The staff has been very friendly and welcoming. Nice facility but if management sees this, there is no audio on channels 6 or 8 for the TV's. Can you please rectify? Perhaps the satellite box needs to be rebooted. There are plenty of machines and room to work out, and plenty of TVs to keep you occupied when you are on the treadmill.

I’m a travel chef I drive pretty far about my second time being there not to mention all the machines are broken down and old! The front dest customer service is horrible lady at front dest has a terrible attitude that twice another guy is there and seen it! He talk to me while I was work and I told him what was going on he said he felt that she coming off very rude! I nicely told him can I get a report down because upper management is not there! He said he would get me something to write ✍🏾 down while I’m hot 🥵 working and blood pressure is soring up! I walk to leave but turn back to ask for a slip he gave me a bunch excuse! Really terrible place and experience to come work out with disrespectable people! While our month payment aren’t playing for broken down equipment
