As a night shift worker, Planet Fitness has been a great place for me to get a late night or early morning workout and tan. Unfortunately, the last time I visited this facility, I was told that they do not allow tanning late at night into the early morning dut to the fact that several customers were using the tanning rooms without notifying the employees. In over 15 years of visiting various PF facilities at all times either day or night, this was the first time I had ever been told that. That being said, I cant recommend this location if you work at night and would like to tan at a PF when you are able to. Everything else regarding weight training or cardio was pretty much standard.

Maintaining a membership at the San Carlos Park location is becoming increasingly frustrating. The facility often feels more like a hangout spot for unsupervised teenagers than a gym on a daily basis. Groups of underage individuals routinely occupy machines far beyond reasonable time limits, frequently engaging in disruptive behavior such as slap boxing, loitering, and excessive phone use. Despite this, staff members appear unwilling or unable to enforce basic rules of conduct or equipment usage.

It’s disappointing that there’s little to no accountability when it comes to monitoring time spent on machines or managing large groups using multiple stations. This lack of oversight leaves many members with limited access to equipment and, more often than not, no choice but to cut their workouts short or leave entirely. It’s been the talk amongst many of the adults who used to be members here and have since moved to other facilities.

A Gym is actually required by Lee County building code to have operational water fountains. I came to use this Planet Fitness from out of town. It's gross. No drinking water available to guests. It's very rundown and dark and dreary. Also smells weird. Employees were arguing about who had to clean the facility.

This workout center doesn’t even have running water… and their water fountains haven’t worked for almost a month! At first, they said it was a filter problem, then a plumbing problem, then a fixture problem, but they still seem very incompetent or unwilling to take care of it… though their members still pay full price and annual maintenance fees for what should be a working gym. The employees don’t seem to care and upper management/ownership doesn’t seem to be at all concerned if people have drinking water or not when working out and dripping in sweat (at least bring in a 5-gallon cooler of drinking water, how hard is that)?

Oh, PF management! You can do better than what it offered at this Gym. And I go to many PF's across FL bc of my job, but this one has the worst showers. Only the ADA one had somewhat hot water. All the faucets spin endlessly so u never know where the hot water setting it at thus causing a lot wasted running water only to find out no setting will render hot water. Your bathrooms need serious attention. But you already know this based on All the prev reviews and you have chosen ro ignore w/ your "cookie-cutter" answers. Shame shame!

This location, despite what people say is incredibly clean last time the water system was down. They were giving out free bottles of water. Most of the complaints on here are unfounded at least based on the experience I have over the last seven months staff is good. Location is good. Changing area is nice and clean. This place is disgusting! The employee are RUDE and JUDGEMENTAL! And they LIE! They are EXTREMELY disorganized and do not know how to treat people. Staff is uneducated on how to operate equipment and how to speak with members. And apparently feel the need to repeatedly yell at members EVERY few weeks or so. It's like they get off on annoying members instead of letting members just work out, you know, the very thing they signed up for! The facilatiy is extremely high end with the best equipment that is well maintained and clean. However the music that is played does not match the very well thought out business model. The music is psychotic and distracting. Very negative topics that broadcasts violent lyric inuendos.Does not match the classy environment. The choice in music should of been thought through more professionally. Seemingly some how that was overlooked originally . I was very intimated joining a gym. I forced myself to be apart of Planet Fitness because of their logo "No Judgement Zone". This gym is exactly what they say.

It's a great place to workout. I go when their is less of a crowd. The two of my favorite machines are the rowing machine and the hand bike. I always wondered about the hand bike, only some particular people use the machine, so I decided that I would give it a try and I tell you what! It's awesome. It's strength training, and it's amazing. You'll get a burnout. it's difficult but very satisfying. Anyways, have an amazing workout at whatever gym you're at. Planet Finess is a good fit for me, and with the membership i have, my wife can come for free with a blackpass that I get on the phone. Have a great day.

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this poorly maintained and managed location. There has been several pieces of key equipment broken for several months. Anytime I’ve asked when repairs will be made the answer is always “I don’t know” or “repairs are made on a rotation”. It must be one massive rotation because nothing gets repaired here. Also rules are not enforced people wear boots, string tank tops, don’t wipe down equipment, and etc. I have even seen people vaping here! One of them I think works here or she is a staff groupie. There is a total void of gym etiquette at this place. If corporate does surprise inspections of their franchises, this would be a great one for them to visit. I think my next email will be to corporate to ask for such an inspection. So save your 10 bucks a month and go elsewhere.

We gave PF a fair shot of 4 months and really nothing improved. There were two toilets in the women’s locker room, main water fountain and multiple leg machines broken for 3 months. The leg machines are still broken. It is dirty- really dirty. The machines haven’t looked wiped down in months- as in deep cleaning: hair, dust bunnies etc under all machines. Preventative maintenance on the machines is to clean them, wipe the cables down, which isn’t done just by looking at all the machines, especially under them and where the weight plates sit.
The cable machine in the PF 360 room has snapped (its cable) in a few places and it is all over the floor. Many of the machines have a lot of the purple paint chipped off in huge sections, rust etc. Many of their Smith Machines are not oiled regularly and they drag.
I finally saw someone with a Swiffer duster just this week for the first time.
The a/c leaks all over the floor near the front desk that they keep buckets out- that has been broken for awhile. Roof has also leaked that long whenever it rains. Their lighting needs repairs - one light strobed for weeks so then they finally had to turn that whole section off. This week another one started to do it to which is so aggravating trying to work out with a strobe party above you.
Quite a few people sleep in their cars in this parking lot- you see the same 5 cars with people sleeping them early mornings- I assume they use the showers and restrooms as members- last week one of them was actually buzzing his hair with clippers in the men’s locker room- my husband watched him do it- and then left his hair everywhere. The two urinals in the men’s locker room had out of order signs for over three weeks. There were at least 4- 5 missing clips for the cable machines since we joined so you were constantly taking one from somewhere else. Those just got replaced.
Not sure who the manager is at this location- we never saw anyone but front desk employees. I tried contacting a manager back in December- he called me and I called back and left a voicemail and he never called me back. I have even filled out PF surveys sent in email to me- but no one calls or emails about the issues this location has.
The turn over at the front desk was often - many of them were rude and on their phones the entire time. One of the guys they had in the mornings- he wouldn’t even speak to you if you asked him something. And most of them were annoyed if you asked to use the massage chairs. I will say the two guys that work Sat and Sun mornings are always so nice and helpful. They have worked there since we joined.
We traveled to Orlando about 2 months ago and used one of the PF there- we couldn’t believe the difference!! It was immaculate- super clean and everything worked. I have managed fitness centers myself and I was amazed at the lack of cleaning and maintenance in this location and it has gone on for months which is a shame. To run a gym well- maintenance has to be the upmost priority along with keeping the gym clean.
We canceled our Black Membership this week- this location isn’t worth $25 a month.

This location needs to update their equipment, there have been multiple machines broken for 2 years and they are never repaired when they brake. They probably have a dozen machines down and they just got the urinals working again after 2 weeks broken. i even asked the staff to use some WD40 on some of moving parts and they said they have nothing to help maintain the equipment. I go to 2 PF gyms in Ohio most of the year and their equipment is always in working condition and repaired in a timely manner. The franchisee should be forced to repair or sell back to corporate. The owner is like a slumlord and corporate PF shouldn't allow it. And don't write back saying you're sorry and improvements are coming soon, because until management changes it will continue to deteriorate along with the membership.

I’m particularly impressed with an employee Planet Fitness at the San Carlos location. Her name is Adrian and she is probably the nicest person I’ve ever met in a setting like this and she has restored my faith and customer service just the other day. She told me that I had been nominated for the guest of the week, and I could have anything on the huge wall, I chose a black hat that bore the label of Planet Fitness and I was so proud of that hat and she treats me so nice and bear in mind I am a silver sneakers member that means that I am 75 years old and she has no reason to be nice to me, but she smiles at me and she glows every time I come in and she makes me feel special and motivates me to want to work out this young woman’s attitude is so wonderful. She’ll be running this place in a short time and everybody in the club loves Sarah and she is the spark plug for the whole club. Thank God for Adrian.

Too many broken machines on the main floor; the yellow room has filthy/damaged walls and the short rope for cable exercises is shredded to the point it looks like it will break if someone uses heavy weight with it. I asked to use a tanning bed and the employee led me to a room and manually turned the machine on for me. He didn't have eye protection for himself (I guess remote doesn't work). I warned him if he does that too much it will damage his eyes. The tanning room floor was filthy. The ladies' room was disgusting and the lockers were rusty. This PF location does not measure up to a typical PF - I travel and have been to so many. This one is the worst I've seen.

I noticed negative reviews get an eloquent response from PF asking the writer to contact the manager. I won't be doing this. You can tell your manager yourself. Besides, I'm sure they already know based on prior reviews.

Make sure to bring your water with you.. It's been more than 6 months they've had 'out of service' signs on their water fountains with no signs of getting them fixed. As a gym, you'd think providing patrons with water would be a high priority, not here.

The cherry on top, when I cancelled because of this, I was informed that I would still be charged for next month in the coming week.. The management of this operation is poor, at best. I highly recommend finding another gym.

My friend finally convinced me to get out and go with her to the gym. I was pretty excited because I used to be a black card member and frequented the pf in cape coral.
Walking in, it was eh. A little small but no biggie.
What got me, was that 20 minutes into my workout I got super thirsty just to find out their water fountains are broken. I honestly expected free water, but no. They're $1 a bottle.. that's so wrong!
I saved what little water I had to take a shower and go. I'm a new mom and dehydrate QUICKLY. That was a huge downer.
I was so ready to get my own membership! I'm so disappointed!
It appeared clean and decent. Their extras with the black card are pretty slim. Just really thrown off by the whole no free water at a GYM part.

Edit— good news everyone I just learned we will have a new gym January 1st in estero. So this dump only gets two more months of my stupid black card. Shannon is literally amazing she's such a ray of sunshine! Really starts my day out great when I come in in the morning and see her smiley and positive face! She is literally the sweetest person!
So helpful with everything! And always makes sure we're taken care of!!!

If you don’t want people bringing in gallon jugs of water, you should probably get the water fountains that have been broken for months fixed. And the sign above the broken water fountains about the member discounts on drinks is sus 👀

Place is filthy. Bathrooms always gross. Water fountains broken all the time and charge for water when they can’t provide a water fountain. Go to Bonita!

Edit. It’s Thursday, still no water fountains but the unfriendly desk attendant said he didn’t break the water fountain so if you want a drink of water while working out buy a bottle of water. Any customer service orientated organization would have free water or bring in a water cooler.

There is rarely anyone working the desk. I watched people stand there for 10-15 minutes and walk away because no one came. Last time I went I was there 45 minutes and never saw someone there!! When someone is actually there, they aren't always friendly either.

Worst planet fitness I've been to. It's August 7, 2023 and more than half the leg machines are broken. And only about 1/3 of the broken machines have out of order signs. Guessing they ran out of signs because too many machines are broken.

Today I went the gym at 6:00 like I do every morning but this morning no one was there to open the doors. This is not the first time this has happened. They were supposed to open at 6 and I waited until 7:30. I couldn’t wait any longer. The place has gotten worse over the last month or so. Definitely not a good look on management.

I am just waiting to see a closed permanently sign any day now. I have only been a member for a month, but since joining I am seeing a lot of issues. Their computer system where you scan your membership has been down for 3 weeks, equipment has been out of order since starting and there are homeless people sleeping in the parking lot. I am hoping they get their act together soon, this is a very convenient place for me to work out. I would be sad to see it close, but I also think I deserve to work out in a well maintained facility!

Like someone said previously only reason I’m giving one star is because it makes you to write a review. Laziest PF club staff I’ve ever witnessed. Here for work so calling this my local gym for the time being only because I have no other options close by. Filthy equipment multiple machines have torn grips on the handles and if you grab them you get the black tar adhesive on your hands, at least 5 broken machines every time I’ve been here, staff doesn’t wipe down equipment like other clubs, no wifi or computer that works so you have to write your personal info down on paper to sign in, staff vaping behind front counter with no regard to members health, puke in the urinal, broken sink, just to name a few oh ya don’t forget pretty much all towel dispensers are empty so we can’t even wipe the stuff down ourselves. Worst club I’ve experienced what are we paying for if nothing is fixed or tended to?!! Owner should be ashamed of their “management”

Nice place to workout. The employees were very friendly and did a great job cleaning up after Ian. Only sad part was to many of the regulars don’t like to pick up after their selves and jump in between sets. Can’t blame PF for people like that

Been a member for a while and things have changed significantly... You received some new equipment post hurricane yay.. but you're out of paper towels in the whole gym? Also, the check in system is down so I have to handwrite my name on a booklet.. Might consider doing regular inventory monitoring and getting check in equipment fixed asap (been broken a week and a half). When something is low it's time to re-order, don't wait until it's out. Hopefully this feedback promotes change. Thanks!
