I really dislike the renovations. Everything has changed and removing my favorite part of PF (30 min workout station).makes me very upset. The old design had the 30 minute workout in the front so you could come in real quick with limited time before work or school and get a solid workout in. Now all of the machines are scattered throughout the gym like a poorly designed Publix grocery store. Extremely disappointing. Luckily I have a black card so now I go out of my way to go to a better PF.

Tried out this gym but lots of things stood out. One, I noticed a number of people just sitting at the machines on their phones instead of focusing on working out and not tying up the machines. Numerous ones were yapping on their cell phones when you are supposed to leave the workout area for this. People having conversations on the speaker phone while on the treadmill very loudly in Spanish. Several loading up weights on the machines, doing the workout and then leaving the weights on the machines. Nobody seemed to wipe any sweat off the machines after their workout. Ewww.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at the Lake Mary Planet Fitness! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. The atmosphere is friendly and non-intimidating, which makes all the difference!

First off, I've been a member of planet fitness for almost 10 years. This recent remodel is one of the most haphazardly thought out ventures I've ever seen. The machines are scattered out with no rhyme or reason. It should be by muscle group to wear a member can smoothly move from arms, shoulders, chest, etc. However now, you have to wander around to look for specific machines. It makes no sense! Chest machine next to leg machine, next to ab machine? The abdominal machines are littered here and there throughout the whole gym. WTH?? We're not very happy about this and are considering changing gyms as a result. Workouts take us a lot longer having to hunt down machines that are foolishly placed, mixed and littered throughout. Who set this up? A bunch of 5-year-olds?

Since the recent renovation there has been some new hires. The employee at the front desk has no people skills. He doesn't even acknowledge your presence when you come in. Same when you leave. He should not be in a position to interact with the public.

Men’s bathroom shower and toilets are disgusting doesn’t seem like they’ve been cleaned in a LONG TIME . Didn’t even want to touch anything. The stench of URINE made me want to vomit. Management needs to step up in a big way. If employees don’t want to work then there’s many more behind them that do want to work. If management can’t handle telling workers what needs to be done then new management needs to be put in place.

I have been going here for it seems twelve years now. I have seen several managers and staffing teams. I also utilize locations in California, Tennessee , Georgia , North Carolina, Missouri, Vancouver, Canada, Nevada, Colorado and any other area I find myself in. This location is among my top experiences. Most recently this is because of the manager Dejon. Dejon is an extremely hard worker who works as hard as any employee in this business and at this location. His ability to lead by example is laudable. While others seem dormant he is working dusting, wiping down machines, and engaging with members. Dejon could easily handle a regional management position but for this locations sake I hope he passes for our benefit. He seems able to maintain staff also, which says that he is a good manager of people. People don’t leave jobs they leave managers.

The remodel is good in my opinion. Yes, there are some subtle changes here and there but nothing too disruptive. My only notice is that the staff (Dejon excluded) does not seem to care/clean the equipment as frequently as they did before the remodel. They do an adequate job when compared to the aforementioned locations I visit, but the performance was at one time clearly superior. Perhaps they are still adopting to the remodel newness as well.

Good location and overall staff, I have no problems recommending this location.

I'd like to offer some constructive criticism regarding the recent remodel of the Lake Mary FL location.

Sadly PF did away with the 30-minute workout circuit. The room now is essentially useless with a few pieces of equipment that no one uses(!). It's also a very bad look when trying to recruit new club members (see attached pic). It really looks like the pieces were "staged" there just so the room wouldn't be empty. Bring back the equipment that was there as it's nice to have a well-rounded set of equipment in one place; and deepen the overall equipment offerings. Please do not bring back the stupid green/red traffic light timer; and let patrons use without time restrictions.

The main workout room makes little sense. Why not organize similar equipment for specific muscle groups together so club members don't have to wander all over to find similar equipment? - e.g., all the leg machines together; chest/back machines together; arm training machines together, etc.

Poor balance of equipment and many machines were removed - why? Why are there only two(2) shoulder press machines? Conversely, why are there 16 pcs of leg equipment?: 6 squat racks (see pic) ; 2 hack squat machines; 2 leg press machines; 2 leg extension machines; 2 hamstring curl machines; 2 calf raise machines. And WHY are there 60+ (yes, that's sixty plus) pieces of cardio equipment(!). Bring back some more weight machines.

Sadly, none of the employees are monitoring the floor with the re-opening of the club after the re-model. The "machine squatters" who spend more time looking at their phones than using the machine they're monopolizing is a common scene at PF Lake Mary. This is the most annoying aspect of the most gyms. PF management: concentrate on this issue instead of monitoring members who might possibly "grunt" too loud setting off the "lunk alarm" - seriously?!

The new renovations are great. Lots of space and very clean. The staff have always been kind and helpful with one exception. She closed this past Friday evening the 18th. Don't know her name but she is deeply unpleasant and brazenly rude. She has no business whatsoever in customer service. That's the only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars.

Very convenient timings (24hrs on the weekdays), many machines for workout, well maintained, clean. I switched here from the local YMCA, certainly a big difference between these two places.
Update 10/07/23: Excellent upgrade of a lot of equipment!
Update 05/08/2025: we need one 24/7 gym in Lake Mary/Sanford area. I hope this location eventually becomes one after the revamp.

The equipment is good for any casual gym user. However, everytime I visit it is uncomfortably hot and it gets hotter eveytime. It was 76 last time I visited. The fans are almost always on low or turned off completely. It makes it impossible to reach your potential for cardio. While in construction, they will leave the doors open for all the hot air to come in as well. The employees are either always in the break room or standing at the desk doing nothing. There's often trash everywhere and the bathroom is almost always flooded with water.

My husband and I rotate between your Lake Mary location and Sanford/Winter Springs. This location is disappointing almost every time we come here. There is never anyone at the front desk. You can see the associates in the closet on their phones when you have people at the desk just waiting for assistance. It’s not a good look. You’re often out of paper towels which makes it difficult to keep anything wiped down & makes me question how clean the machines are. The AC doesn’t seem to work in the back ab area the last few times I’ve been here. I went to get a massage today and was sent in the massage area with absolutely no lights on. I believe you have a prime location but the quality and customer service suck! Do better.

Worst gym ever,the hot water has been off for 3 weeks now with no solution insight. Also just about all the people that work there wish they were somewhere else! Our gym recently closed down so we were gym shopping. My husband and I decided to take a peak at the Lake Mary location…no one was at the front desk, we waited for a few minutes, there was a young lady in what I’m assuming is an office, poked her head out. I said hello how are you…no response or acknowledgement whatsoever! I felt like we were disrupting her and nothing but a pain to her. We ended up giving ourselves a “tour” of the gym. I’m okay with some of the equipment being old, but the fact that there was NO communication between us and whoever was working, made us feel unwelcome. This gym was immediately crossed off our list.

This gym has gone way downhill. They are unreliable. Many weekends they do not open on time. While MOST of the staff is nice. The manager who manages it is irresponsible. Several of us have spoken with him about the incessant late openings, but nothing has changed. Sure he's always polite....but as I stated, nothing has changed.

This location is always crowded Women's Locker Room like the back ally of a New York restaurant. Downright FILTHY! Toliet Paper all over, clothes and items left in the showers, mold growing in the grout. The staff 1st graders screaming to the top of their lungs "Welcome In!!!" as if trying to scare or wake you up. A peaceful "Hello" would suffice. These kids have no real training abilities so they get paid to judge, criticize, and talk about folk walking in and out. Lastly, why does it take 12 children standing at the front desk not to be helpful but to be a distracting mess!

My girlfriend and I are new members at the Lake Mary, FL location, so we needed to transfer my girlfriend's Knoxville, TN Franchise account to the Lake Mary, FL Corporate account - Trainers/Managers Justyce and Dijon both helped us over a few visits to get everything shifted over and the old Franchise account in Tennessee closed out. Both of these gentlemen were extremely courteous and helpful every time that my girlfriend and I sought out their assistance with our respective memberships - they have provided, and continue to provide, EXTRAORDINARY customer service...they are both a huge credit to the PF organization, and they both (in my opinion) DESERVE A RAISE NOW!!!
