I recently relocated to Miami and requested a transfer from the Coconut Creek Planet Fitness to this location. I decided to transfer here without visiting first because of the 4.5-star rating, which I assumed reflected the same quality and standards I’ve experienced during my 10+ years as a loyal Planet Fitness member. Unfortunately, that rating was very misleading.

I was genuinely shocked by how poor the equipment situation is. There are barely any attachments for the cable machines , not just bars, but almost all of the other attachments you’d typically find, like handles, ropes, or ankle straps. There were very few available, which made it almost impossible to complete a well-rounded workout. Broken equipment and cable machines too.

In addition, most of the paper towel stations were empty, and overall the weight area felt poorly maintained. This is by far one of the least equipped Planet Fitness locations I’ve ever visited.

I shared my concerns with Valerie at the front desk, who was very kind and professional. She even walked with me to the weight area so I could show her the missing attachments. She mentioned that some equipment has been ordered, which I appreciated. However, I don’t recall if a timeline for this was shared with me.

However, given the current state of this location, I plan to visit the North Miami Beach Planet Fitness (1630 NE 163rd St, North Miami Beach, FL 33162), and if that gym is better maintained, I will be requesting a transfer there even though Planet Fitness requires members to wait three months after a transfer before requesting another one. I truly hope that, considering how poor my experience has been at this location, Planet Fitness will honor my transfer request before the three-month requirement.

I’ve been a Planet Fitness member for over a decade, and I’m extremely disappointed by this experience. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves this location, because I’d hate to cancel after so many great years with Planet Fitness.

I was visiting from Texas and decided to go to planet fitness for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the customer service was more specifically the assistant manager , Andre greeted me with a smile and made sure that I knew where all equipment was. The gym was clean and well kept. And all of the employees were kind and attentive. If you live in Miami or if you're just visiting, I'll definitely recommend coming to visit planet fitness in North Miami Beach.

At night the gym gets really messy and unorganized, there are always weight all over the place cause people never put them back and the gym really enforce people putting the weights back.during the day there are always multiple employees however at night there just one guy who really nice but you can just tell he’s stressed because he’s constantly running around the gym cleaning up, dealing with guests and even putting weights back. When I asked him why don’t they give any help he just shrugged and said he tried. Planet fitness you guys need to step it up.

I don't like that the front desk not on the same page. Ive been coming without anyone bothering me about my purse or taking a photo. But a person i havent seen today wants me to put my purse in a locker?? Um no. So ill find a new location. If they would have enforced this from the beginning I could've came prepared with a lock. I live multiple places and no location ever said this, we even bring winter coats and boots up north with no problem no locker. I keep my bag on me it has never been on the floor. You are suppose to be keeping an eye on what's going on in the gym anyway for safety purposes. if you see someone set there stuff down tell them to wear it on their body, then its no problem but i think they want to be lazy and not watch. A few times they weren't paying attention and didn't even scan my membership I just walked right in some times. Luckily I'm honest and went back upfront when someone was paying attention 🤷🏽‍♀️ telling a woman they can't have their purse is crazy. In response to the owner the fact that your brain fails to comprehend the fact your staff doesn't even follow your so called policies that you expect us to follow...

Travis is the reason for five stars. I came in to clear up some things on my account. As I was standing to the side finishing with getting my account started. He made sure to greet every customer. You can tell he keeps up with the regulars. I would feel comfortable working out at this location knowing he’s there because I know he will go above and beyond to assist my needs. Travis is that Guy. Place is great in terms of value and management but there are a few things that should be worked on.

- no one returns weights and rack is usually empty even in slow time. Maybe get more of the popular dumbbells 15, 20, 25.
- water fountain rarely works properly. Hot water or no water
- a lot of people doing super sets and using multiple weights and get offended when you as to use the weights

I honestly love this Planet Fitness. Every time I come in, the staff greets me with a smile and the place is super clean. The machines are always available, and everything works the way it should. Hey Planet Fitness Owners..
I gotta say, both I and other customers really love the hot water dispensers disguised as drinking fountains!
If I want to make a steaming cup of coffee or tea while dripping wet from my workout, at least I know where to go!!
I have at least learned to carefully check the water temp, before drinking because it's a real drag to gulp hot water when you expect cold water.
I also know this is not a new issue.
Reoccurring for maybe a couple of years now.
You know , it's not rocket science to fix this, it would go a long way to fix this minor nagging problem.
No need to reply to this especially if it's from a bot, or from someone expressing suprise or telling me to bring it to the staff.
Andre does a great job running a busy desk, but he's not the repairman!

Planet Fitness was an awesome experience from start to finish! The shift manager, Yonel, was incredibly welcoming and ready to assist anyone who walked through the door. Varnes, another outstanding staff member, worked right alongside him—they made the perfect duo! Both were easy to approach, professionally dressed in their uniforms with ID badges, and consistently made sure the facility was kept up to par. The bathroom? Absolutely beautiful—picture perfect! Clean, modern, and truly an A+ space. The location has an elevator, making it even more convenient and accessible. The AC was so on point—perfectly cool and refreshing throughout the whole visit. And lastly, the motivational quotes on the walls were like icing on the cake—uplifting and energizing. Job well done, Planet Fitness!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Bugs crawling around the gym and everything is disgusting. From the bathrooms to the equipment this is the dirtiest business I’ve been in. People just standing around or on their phones scrolling or having loud conversations while on machines that they aren’t even using. Tons of machines are either outdated or broken. A complete waste of my gas and time to go there. An absolute embarrassment for planet fitness.

I’ve been a loyal member of this Planet Fitness for over a year now, and I’ve officially reached my limit. For the better part of that year, the upstairs workout area has been miserably HOT—and not just “a little warm,” but consistently stifling and uncomfortable no matter what time I come in. Whether it’s 3:45 AM or 7:00 PM, the temperature is always unbearable. The air conditioning system clearly does not work, and the fact that nothing has been done to fix it in MONTHS is both unacceptable and a serious health hazard.

What exactly am I paying for each month? Certainly not a safe or comfortable environment to exercise in. And let’s be real—Planet Fitness constantly markets itself as a “Judgment Free Zone,” but apparently that doesn’t apply to basic operational standards like working climate control.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that members have to sweat through their clothes before even starting a workout. I’ve raised this concern verbally before, and nothing has changed. Who do I need to escalate this to so something actually gets done? Because this level of neglect is infuriating and shows a complete disregard for member wellbeing.

Planet Fitness is by far the worst gym I’ve ever been to. First of all — the locker rooms and showers are absolutely disgusting. Dirty, moldy, trash everywhere — and this isn’t a one-time issue, it’s the norm. I’m attaching photos so you can see for yourself. It’s unacceptable and unsanitary for a place that’s supposed to promote health.

The machines? Half of them are broken or squeaking so loudly it feels unsafe to use them. Clearly, maintenance is not a priority here.

But the worst part — I canceled my membership, and they STILL charged me for the following month that I can’t even use. I called the manager to ask about a refund, and all I got was: “You had to cancel 2 weeks in advance, it’s in the contract.” Really? Who actually reads those tiny-font contracts? This is something that should be clearly communicated — not hidden in the fine print.

All this over $25 — not a huge amount of money, but the stress, frustration, and negative experience were absolutely not worth it.

I feel scammed. I’m beyond disappointed. Don’t waste your time or money here. Pay a little more elsewhere and get clean facilities, functioning equipment, and staff that actually care.
