I am not from the area, but I’m a black card member and have used gems in Southeast Florida in the northern United States over 20 years however come here on my Thanksgiving break. I went to the spa to check in for a massage chair. Couldn’t figure it out for the life of me because none of the other locations used chairs that require coins Aside from that he had started me on the Hydro massage bed and I kindly said I wanted a chair and he brought me over because I said I couldn’t find the number chair. He said they’re on the wall and brought me to a Hydro massage bed and I said that’s not a chair. I wanted a chair kept arguing with me I said Again I wanted to massage chair kept arguing with me said you’re a black card member right and I said yes however I’m not from this location and nowhere where have I went if the chairs needed coins so How was I supposed to know sitting in the chair and did not calibrated for the time to start? The man at the front desk at 10 o’clock in the morning on the day before Thanksgiving needs some gratitude in his life happy Thanksgiving.

The staff is great they keep the gym neat and clean. But to many members set on equipment looking or playing on their cellphones not working out and stopping those of us who are there trying to work out. THE STAFF SHOULD GO AROUND AND REMIND MEMBERS THAT CELLPHONE USE IS NOT ALOUD ON THE EQUIPMENT AND USE THE CELLPHONE AREA. Other then that it is a nice place., almost they need to double up on certain equipment, that people like, since the remodeling they took out alot of machines and you have to wait, also the parking lot needs to be cleaned, to much garbage were you have to park.

I joined Planet Fitness in 2010 just after retiring from the Navy. I’ve used Planet Fitness gyms all over the country. Until using the one in St Augustine, I had a wonderful experience. Do not use this gym! There are many self centered old people who hog the equipment. They are worse than teenagers in regards to playing on their phones while others are impatiently waiting for the equipment. I complained a number of times to the shift manager about this situation. Finally, one of them was candid enough to say the owner only cares about collecting the monthly fees and the old people can more or less do as they please. After this conversation, I immediately cancelled a 15 year membership. There are many other excellent gyms in the area. I could not be happier with Amp Gym.

The gym itself is great
But its always busy, it think we have only been there once and didnt have to wait on machines. Alot of people 60s+. And alot of very rude people. So rude that they will stand over you while you use machine to show they are waiting, you end up either making them mad if you finish your set or leaving the machine early. Pople also sit on machines and play on their phones...
The machines are nice, lots of leaking and buckets, and no paper towels to dry your hands in the bathroom.

Planet Fitness is what it is. A cheap way to have access to fitness equipment. There is no personal training and it's often crowded. It is however, CHEAP. So if you are self motivated and just need a spot to work out with what's available, join up.

However, be aware that they want both your credit card information AND your bank account and routing number when you sign up. Planet Fitness will not notify you that it is time to update your credit card information because your card is about to expire like most similar businesses (that have your CC expiration date) will do. So, if you are wary of sharing bank information you may want to think twice about joining.

I am updating my review. The new machines are growing on me granted, I probably won’t use at least 50% of them and the space has become very crowded with the different machines, but management has made an effort to address the complaints of myself and others by replacing the machines that we were used to with machines that are very similar and with a learning curve getting easier to use, they recently replaced the Glut/ and inner thigh leg machine
Therefore, I am raising my review to four stars, especially for the cost versus benefit.
The air conditioning can be a little sketchy in certain areas, especially the north west corner that gets the late afternoon sun. The tint is peeling off the windows and they really just need some nice blackout blinfs
For a while. The Hydro massagers were not working at all!!! all four of them,!
but that seems to be rectified
I will continue to update my review.

joined last fall and absolutely loved this gym. It was large. The machines were spaciously positioned. It had a great vibe.
Recently, they have cleared out all the machines replaced them with new hard to use machines that are geared towards the 20 and 30 year-old crowd. They’ve taken the nice perimeter spaces and just put heavy duty professional weightlifter equipment for three people in a room that used to be able to accommodate 15 they’ve eliminated a lot of the core. The balance is stretching They’ve switched from being a family gym to being a gym that’s geared to 20 and 30 something hard-core heavy duty weightlifters I am so disappointed.

I have been a black card member at Planet Fitness St Augustine for years. I am seriously considering canceling my membership after the recent renovation. The new machines no longer include the 4 hip adduction and abduction machines, which are especially very important for older members. There are less machines overall, creating over crowding and long wait times for available machines. I now usually leave without being able to complete m
y entire workout. The majority of the gym is now hardcore weightlifting. It no longer feels family friendly for all age groups and workout levels. Very disappointed!

I had a very disappointing interaction with two staff members, Teresa and Christine.

I asked to use the tanning bed and was assigned bed 4. Upon entering, I noticed it was clearly dirty. When I asked if I could use a different bed, I was met with rudeness. Teresa accused me of not knowing how to clean up before and after myself. Both she and Christine explained that they operate on an “honor system,” expecting customers to clean the beds before and after use. Teresa went on to say that she didn’t have time to check if the beds were clean between each session. She told me it is not mandatory that staff clean or even check beds after use. When I signed up with planet fitness I was never told that I was expected to clean the beds before and after use.

The accusatory tone and lack of professionalism displayed by Teresa and Christine was very disappointing.

I used to love this planet fitness. This new renovation is not it. Super disappointing. Not sure why they couldn’t have left some of the machines that everyone used and loved and just added some things instead of re doing everything. It was not necessary. Maybe instead of changing everything they should fix all the ceiling leaks instead. I will unfortunately be looking for a new gym.

I’ve been frequenting this location for 9 months. Staff is cordial and atmosphere is fine.
However, in the 9 months the cleanliness of the workout equipment and areas are subpar. The bathroom and black card area is ok but there are the same dustballs and hair on walls that have always been there. The equipment and mirrors look like a dog has been licking them .. always smudges on them. I see the staff walk around occasionally with a feather like duster … I’m sorry but that only moves dust around. I did take note of one cleaning the dumbbells and rack …BUT .. that’s it. I feel like even post Covid they should be cleaning equipment regularly and not expect the little wiping down that some patrons do suffice.

This is the cleanest and friendliest Planet Fitness I have been in and I have been in many. I am a contractor and have work many disasters all over the US. I went last Sunday to enroll my teens in the summer program. Unfortunately, my first impression wasn’t great. The lady at the front desk seemed like she really disliked being there. She was dismissive when I asked questions, just telling me to check the website. When I asked about a trainer, she responded quite rudely, saying that if I wanted one, I should go to another gym. She also added, in a blunt tone, that they’re not responsible if anyone gets hurt.

As I walked around, I noticed she was completely alone managing a large gym, which might explain part of her attitude. I even saw an older man doing an exercise incorrectly—something that could have easily led to injury. On the bright side, the gym looked very clean.

I'm a black card member and "Briana" who was at the desk wasn't professional and rude. I asked her if I could use the the Red Light and she told me someone is using it and will take 15' minutes, I told her I will wait. I was waiting and she told me the waiting is 30' minutes now. I told her I want to use the room #4, and she told me " that is tanning, I said is fine. She told me is ready but it wasn't true, I back to the desk and she yelled at me at told me to back and do exercises. I told her "don't talk to me in that way" she was very disrespectful and told me in front of another female employee who was scared. Briana said is "her Gym and I done with the tanning" but I never used it. She told me to leave the gym because she will call the police. I had to leave the gym. I've never had a problem before with any employee. I love Planet Fitness. Briana is not professional and bad customer service. This incident happened today Sunday 5/4/2025 10.45am 11.10am

I'm a black card member and was visiting from out of town. I brought my husband as a guest (and he NEVER likes going to the gym... so it took me months to convince him PF would be a great experience.). The guy at the desk was great. Then there was a little confusion about a hydro-massage bed. We don't have these at my local PF, I asked if I could use it, he said sure. I also asked to purchase a lock in the same conversation. I guess in the chaos he didn't actually set up the hydro-massage bed for me to use. (Not my husband - ME) No big issue, we came back out to ask him, but when we returned to the front desk, we were met my a female. We told her what happened, and she looked at us like we were lying to her about the whole thing. THEN she said, "wow, he really said "sure, go ahead... that doesn't sound like him."" As if we were making the whole thing up and lying to her - and it wasn't some one time side comment she repeatedly implied that we were lying to her. Then the guy walks back over and she confronts him in front of us which was awkward... and so he just acted confused about it all to cover his butt. And we were like, wow, really? It truly wasn't a big deal to begin with, but she was just extra rude, judgmental, and NOT kind or friendly at all. It was extremely un-professional and it was not a good experience. Thanks for that. I will most certainly not be bringing a guest (husband or not) to that location. And if that was my home location, I'd cancel my membership. Who wants to be treated like that?

I went in there to cancel my membership as you are not able to do it over the phone. They did some computer work and told me it is canceled, but after 3 months I found out that they are still charging me 27 bucks a month. I called and talked to the GM but he pretty much called me a liar and said he won't be able to refund any money. They basically stole my money and got away with it. I suspect I am not the only one but there's nothing I can do about it. Check your memberships people! Cancel it if you don't use it and make sure you keep the paperwork!!

The equipment is old and not the latest, which I why I prefer to visit the Planet Fitness Bartram location instead. Also, two of the televisions don't have any sound, and I have told the management about this issue several times - NOTHING HAPPENS. There is one show I like to watch at 9:00 am and it is shown on two televisions in the gym, but both these televisions have NO SOUND. Its not my earphones, they work on the other TVs.

One of the better Planet Fitness gyms that I have visited throughout Volusia, Flagler and St Johns counties. Unlike the others, this one still has Tootsie rolls. This place is pretty bad. They will rip you off and overcharge either your credit card or bank account and have no logical explanation as to why. They outsource their billing service to an overseas company that is worthless if you need help trying to sort it out. It's sad they operate in such a way that's basically criminal.

Response to owner - I have made multiple attempts to speak with the staff to resolve the problem and was even told a manager would contact me. I'm really annoyed and that's putting it nicely, with the fact that I had to freeze my account at planet fitness due to something completely out of my control. I fell at work and ended up habing shoulder surgery due to that fall. When I froze my account,no one told me it could only be frozen for 6 months!!!?? Planet Fitness is one of the most welcoming, positive environments I’ve been in in a while. This is the first gym I have ever been to. I only signed up because I wanted to be more healthy. I went for the first time with a couple friends so they could help me get started, and I remember how friendly and helpful the staff were. They greeted all of us with a smile and helped me get settled in. It was that first experience that made me want to keep coming back.

Not to mention the fantastic prices. Planet Fitness has a wide variety of machines and a great layout of everything for one of the cheapest gym prices I’ve seen. I have the black card so I can use the spa and get other perks (which there are a lot; I suggest you look into them if you are interested). It’s only $29.99 per month plus tax. The annual fee and the startup fee plus tax are higher than the regular fee upfront, but in the long run, you pay less wirh the black card and get more benefits!

Finally, PF is open 24 hours (except on holidays, which is expected). I work late hours and sometimes want to go early in the morning or late at night. I’m so happy I don’t have to worry about when they close.

If you are looking for a welcoming, affordable gym, I highly recommend PF.

The gym and PF team are good! Always seemed to be engaged in some gym or service task. 3 stars for transients and cleanliness of parking lot on Rolling Hills side of the building. It’s gross. Smells like a toilet some days and plenty of garbage in the parking lot. Gym is mostly clean and a positive experience.

I love this gym. The staff is always great and positive. The gym is ALWAYS a clean space. I'm here more than half the week. So if you're thinking of joining, do it!!! I'm also a black card member, and their massage chairs are amazing!!!!!!!
