The gym itself is fine, not overcrowded, although every time I visited it seemed like at least one of the weight machines was broken.

However, they make it very difficult to cancel your membership - I had to go in and fill out a form, then they charged my card for the final fee while I was there; however, after I left they emailed saying the card was declined and I needed to call and provide additional payment over the phone. I called to see what was going on and the person at the desk said there were no notes on my account about cancelling and that the owner would contact me the following Monday (three days ago).

I have been attempting to contact them but the phone keeps going to voicemail and their voicemail is full so I can't even leave a message. Feels at the very least like unprofessional behavior if not predatory.

Edit to add: finally reached someone to cancel and was berated over the phone for the review I’ve left. Very, very poor experience.

I used to go to Platinum gym all the time when I lived closer I want to start out by saying that their strongest selling point is they're amazing classes that happen every hour of the day and have a great variety of different types of classes to choose from and each class tends to have a great instructor in it from my experience that keeps each time you go a fresh new experience that gets you excited. The staff is very friendly and the place is kept clean my only downside that I can have to say something about would be the machine seem a little outdated they're definitely missing some of the gold's gym type of equipment such as the NeverEnding rope or the Jacob's ladder or any of the really elevated stair climbers or the more creative types of resistance equipment. Also family operated gym which is very cute and quaint but the downside of that is it's pretty small and basically the whole town goes there which is pretty cool to meet everybody but hard to get a area to do any type of free-form calisthenics or any type of stretching that requires space. hard enough just to.clear a path for lunges.

BEWARE!!!!! I really don’t like to do this but am left no choice. I had to pay 45 dollars to cancel my membership 7 months ago come to find out 6 months later they are still charging me. Thinking this would be an easy fix quick refund and stop the payments from. Two weeks after speaking with them assuring me it was fixed I was charged again. Not only was it charged again I still haven’t been refunded one cent. I would not recommend this gym at all. Unless you want to chase your money and go through living hell trying to get a refund. Absolutely crazy

Went into this gym 6 months ago and PAID 45$ to canceled my membership long story short they have been charging my card for the past 6 months on top of the cancellation fee I called and spoke with a women at the desk named Ashley she claimed that the owner would get back to me to handle the situation and it’s been over a week and I’ve called over 5 times no response from anyone they do not care about thier customers I even emailed the owner my cancelation fee still no response they are pretty Crocked and will do whatever they can to drain as much money out of you as possible save your self the trouble and stay away from this gym oh and also after I had this conversation with Ashley 3 days later my card was charged for another months fee absolutely ridiculous! I think the gym is practical it has everything you need I do not like the lack of cardio equipment and too many of the cardio equipment are not properly functional I love the workout I get here a lot though I never been to a gym that I feel the results this well. Very empty I love it. Well ventilated. I don’t like that nothing is really categorized you kinda have to find everything when you first start here. I love the bathrooms so much though reminds me of home. Would recommend to a friend just know it isn’t the most modernized gym!! So far love it though. The male staff that is a manager I do not remember his name but he has glasses and brown hair he was so helpful to me when I first started really left a great impression on the company.

Love the atmosphere when i come in. Very warm and welcoming. Got a great group of trainers and the staff is very nice. They started new classes and fitness challenges. I love it! Something for everyone! Insurances are accepted too so that's good to know.

Best gym around here! The staff is super helpful whenever you ask a question and the personal training is unbeatable from people who really know what they are doing. Many people see results if they stick to training the right way. Pricing is very fair for what they offer and I have been very pleased with my experience of this place. I highly recommend this gym for anyone of all ages new or not!

The gym is nice. It’s never overcrowded. The customer service isn’t always the best though. 9/10 the person at the desk does not speak to me when I walk in or leave. I don’t know if others experience this but it rubs me the wrong way. I also canceled my membership due to medical reason but was charged an extra month after being told I would no longer be charged.

Stay away! they area horrible place. Beside their equipment not working half the time and their trainers being incredibly incompetent, they are overpriced and they will scam you out of any penny they can. I was having a horrible experience with their equipment and their personal trainer who I paid a lot of money to never showed up on time. After giving them a shot for a couple of weeks I decided that this gym was not for me. And I went in person and signed a termination to my membership.It’s been 3 years and I just recently found that even though I canceled my membership they had added a dispute of over 900$ to my credit bureau, ruining my credit report. Apparently their team never put in the paperwork to cancel my membership and they argue that I still owe them for a full years worth of services when I was only a member for 3 weeks. Please save yourself from my experience and go to a professional gym and someone who is competent. I am still disputing this outrageous charge with them. And I know they lacked cleanliness, so during COVID I doubt that they are protecting their members the way they should be. They only care about making money from you, they do not care about your experience or personal fitnesses goals.

Hello I work for Del-Air and was told this gym was good , I came and join and is perfect love the old school style and people. Front desk cool and respectful lady’s . Lots of free weights and machines. Very clean and sanitize please .

i love this place....The owners are very nice as are all the staff. They are helpful and attentive, and they have some great trainers too. The people who go here care about being in shape, as it isn't about showing off, but more about doing it right. Family run with family fun as it is also good for the members who bring the kids as they have a room for them as well... Free weights galore, nice machines, plenty of cardio, a cycling room, and a big separate room for zumba, yoga, dance, boxing, or whatever you like...

Please dont believe the 1 star ratings. This is a quality family owned gym. The manager, Lynn, is a pleasure and she is very fair with her prices. The gym is for people who want to see results, from the people that walk in to the equipment being used. Yeah it's not a typical corporate gym like LA or 24 but hell it gets the job done without the gimmicks.

It's not a "luxury" gym where all the equipment are brand new and people are asked to wipe down after each use (even though they are supposed to) it's just not enforced like others and the locker room and showers are a bit outdated but very clean! And for the price and friendliness of the staff, this place cannot be beat. Contract is the best out there. Close to none! And it's never really crowded to where you have to wait in line for machines!

I signed a 2 year contract after buying a home in the area this is a no thrills gym with all the equipment you need to loose fat and gain muscle. Also has tanning which is nice for some. Now here's where it gets good I see people complaining how they were stuck in there "contract" ??? Of course you are that's the point in a contract with discounted rates they also offer month to month and if you can prove you moved away they cancel no problem or in my case I shattered my arm they deferred the payments till I'm healed. That's absolutely fantastic customer services!

Att or android user.. expect to have no service 9/10 visits. Their wifi never works and the modem is in a locked room so the attendant can't reset it. It's in a steel building so you dont get signal to even use yout own data.. Great works out with no music..
As for the equipment, a few bent bars and the floor in the free weight area is uneven. If you're a picky power lifter this might not be the place, however the best option in the area. A few machines are covered in duct tape and not quite calibrated. Again.. best option in the area.
You get what you pay for.

This gym is dirty and the majority of their equipment does not work. It is impossible to get two treadmills next to each other that work. They always have an error code on them and the front desk says they will try to look up what that error code means on the internet, but nothing is ever fixed. If a treadmill has the speed option working, then the incline is usually broken or vice versa. The owners do not seem to care that their equipment is outdated and broken so they are going to lose a lot of business to the new gym.

I love the energy of this place. There isn't anything going on here but fitness as a gym should be. It's not like the fake places you see now a days such as chains and franchises. My daughters just started coming to Platinum Gym and it is honestly one of the best personal training experiences I have ever seen for my girls. I have seen them with numerous Coaches and Trainers throughout their athletic years. I must say when I call Lynn (Owner of Platinum Gym) I was skeptical at first on who I could trust with my teenage girls. She said without any hesitation, Matt Doman would be a great fit for them. Matt is an expert in creating customized and constantly evolving workouts that have allowed them to improve functional strength, increase power, and reduce body fat while having fun doing it. The workouts are targeted and intense but still manageable. He has even worked around their athletic and school schedules which change weekly. I have found that all of the trainers are friendly, have a great attitude, and are always willing to share nutrition and recovery advice.

I love this place and would not hesitate to recommend Platinum Gym to anyone! Hell, I might even start going myself!

***PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING UP*** I have never been to a gym with more spiratic membership prices. One week it will be $10/month the next month it will be $15/month.
When I signed up they made me pay $35/month. They also make you pay of annual maintenance fee of $20 and I have never seen a dime being invested into this gym. I recently cancelled my membership. They also have terrible hours that they are open.

I've been working out here for about 4 years now and there are several pros and cons.

Pros:
They seem to have really increased membership and the rates are reasonable.
Tons of selection and I've rarely had to wait on equipment, except for the benches and the Smith Machine.
They fix broken cardio machines pretty quick.

Cons:
Some of the equipment is showing its age.
They're running out of parking on weekday evenings. I've been there a couple times and cars are almost getting blocked in around back.
I've seen the police there for two car break ins over the years. Word of advice: Don't park along the wooded side of the lot. I don't know if there are people living in those woods or what, but don't become a target.
Air conditioning can be spotty, especially where it's needed most out front on the cardio machines. People go in and out a lot and it gets warm quickly.
I've almost taken out a motorcyclist a couple times as they just pull right in front of the front door and the door swings outward. Watch your step.

I'll keep working out here, but just wish they'd address some of the issues.

From the first day I walked in I knew I was going to like this gym. The front desk was able to answer all of my questions without jumping into a sales pitch and from the beginning I never had to wait for a weight machine since there are so much to choose from along with free weights. Fellow gym goers are more than friendly if you want to share or ask for a spotter. In fact, I have more friends at the Gym now than anywhere else in Sanford.
Thankfully they have plenty of parking because their Zumba class is crazy popular (I see why they use such a large space for it).
I was worried after leaving Chicago that I wasn't going to find an outlet that can match what I'm use to in the big city but I can honestly say I feel more at home in Sanford because of Platinum Gym. It's now a part of my daily routine.
