I requested to have my membership cancelled. I was sent a form to fill out. Since returning my completed form, they’ve ghosted both me and my husband. We have no confirmation of cancellation. The gym equipment is good. The customer service is SEVERELY LACKING… one of the main reasons we’re trying to get away from this place.

I've tried canceling my membership 10x now. They refuse to answer my emails and won't confirm my cancelation. Huge scam. Always a wait to get on equipment. Always super crowded and over capacity. Could be so much better with a little investment. Equipment is all very close together. Locker rooms are gross and due for updating. Overall pretty dirty compared to my last gym (Equinox). There is a monthly fee to use the towels. Fort Lauderdale is missing a premium experience like Equinox or Lifetime has to offer - but Powerhouse could fill that gap if some improvements are made to gym and locker rooms, and more attention to cleanliness.

I normally love the vibe and equipment at Powerhouse Fort Lauderdale, but there’s a major issue that’s ruining the experience — the Cycleward Studio located inside the gym blasts their music at absurd levels. The bass from their spin classes is so strong it shakes the workout floor, and even with noise-cancelling headphones it’s impossible to drown out. It literally feels like being in a nightclub at 3 AM in Miami while trying to train.

I’ve complained to the front desk and am waiting for a reply and resolution, but nothing has been done so far. It’s frustrating that management hasn’t addressed a problem that affects so many paying members. I hope they take this seriously, because it’s otherwise a great facility — just currently unworkable with the constant booming bass from Cycleward.

I’ll happily take this review down as soon as the issue is resolved.

When Joe used to work here AC was always on point. Now they switched it back to 72/73 in South Florida in the peak of summer.

I have called and visited repeatedly but have received the old run around; meanwhile I'm paying 100 dollars a month for a service that I do not use. Been a member since the opening a lot has changed dirty sauna is always broke not being up kept well Worst Gym in Fort Lauderdale. pretentious members that think they’re entitled and better than everyone else cause they pay a whopping $50 a month literally throw your water bottle out of your cupholder on the ground and put theirs in the cupholder so your water is rolling in the floor because they don’t clean it anymore. then bully you off machines with their friends. Loredana Chiodi The operations manager think she is the justice jury judge and that her opinion matters in any type of way in any situation instead of being a peacemaker she thinks she is a judge and treat long time members that have been there from the beginning like they don’t matter. Also doesn't listen talks over you and is very aggressive.
I was also extorted told my membership was canceled and then told that I could keep it if I paid another initiation fee for hundreds of dollars after I already paid when I joined.
Save your extra $20 and go to LA fitness or amp instead of with the big shots over at Powerhouse. If you want to spend extra money come to lifetime fitness I’m a member there great gym.

This gym is number 1 in all of Fort Lauderdale; possibly the world. The staff is incredibly helpful; especially Joe. I went up to the front desk to ask how long the turf was and Joe got up and walked over to measure it with his footsteps. 50 feet.

This gym has it all for such a small, compact space. The location at the beach is perfect and being on the 4th floor with broad windows makes for a great view when doing cardio. They have gloves and heavy bags for boxing and kickboxing, and a spot for yoga. Everything is so clean and the sauna is the perfect touch. All of the employees,especially Joe at the front desk, are incredibly friendly, kind, welcoming, and helpful. This is by far one of the best and definitely the cleanest I have ever been to.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EVER EXIST ON PLANET EARTH (and maybe all galaxies too 🫶🏼)

I've been trying to email an admin/manager since June 5th (mind you it's July 11) about this gym charging me for towel services I never signed up for. Please note that their towel service (which is nothing but clean towels) is $50 per month. I asked MULTIPLE times for them to cancel and refund the charges, but nothing was done and I got ZERO responses. So I did what every rational human would do: block the merchant 🫶🏼

A couple weeks go by and I come to the gym, I pay for the membership manually, and ask their staff IN PERSON to remove this charge, but still no response on my emails and the only time they have someone in person here is from 10 - 5pm (mon - fri). Funny and convenient.

Today, I walk in and, as expected, my menbership is due (obviously they are still blocked) which I was happy to pay for BUT GUESS WHAT? Another incorrect charge was made and this time, for admin fees 😍 funny how there's no admin staff to answer members, but sure thing there's a fee named after it.

Obviously I refused to pay, but told the reception staff that I was happy to pay for my membership. Guess what? Obviously it's not possible to pay for the membership only.

Honestly? This is the WORST gym in Fort Lauderdale. They will treat you nicely and respectfully to have you sign in, but good luck trying to keep receiving the bare minimum once you become a member.

One of the main reasons why I joined this gym is that there is a morning cycling class. I saw that all classes are advertised as being included and you can see the cycling class on their class list below, however this is not the case in terms of being included in the membership plans. They fail to mention this also while signing up. Of course, I have a 3 month minimum requirement contract for my month to month membership. Beware of this bait and switch tactic if you are contemplating on joining and considering taking cycling classes.

Overpriced, Misleading, and Cramped — Don’t Fall for the Hype

I rarely leave bad reviews, but Powerhouse Gym deserves this one.

They’re running a premium-priced scam. The gym is modern and looks nice inside, sure — but it’s tiny, cramped, and stuffed inside a parking garage on the 4th floor. You have to take an elevator just to get in. For what they’re charging, you’d expect a facility that matches the marketing. But instead, it feels like they’re just trying to milk the east-side college crowd and tourists who don’t know better.

They sold my wife on a premium membership that supposedly includes a guest — then charge $15 every time the guest comes in. That’s completely misleading and feels predatory.

Other gyms like You-Fit or EOS give you better amenities, more space, and way more transparency — for far less money. Powerhouse Gym just hides behind the brand name while exploiting inflation and the local economy.

The staff was nice but couldn’t answer our basic questions clearly. It’s clear they’re not trained to support members — just to upsell.

In short:
• Cramped, overpriced space
• Misleading pricing
• Not worth the “premium” title
• Smells good and looks clean, but that’s about it

Save your money. Go to literally any other gym.

My only concern was there were little to no blacks/ African Americans there. While very affordable just felt like multiple eyes were on me once I entered the space. That was a bit unsettling. I've been a happy member of this gym for 4 years. Last year, I converted my membership to be covered as part of my health insurance which the gym is no longer accepting. This changes my monthly membership from $29 to $95 a month for the same gym experience (it was $50 a month prior to that.) I'm not sure who can afford that kind of increase in this market. Though the local staff tried their best to work with me, the gym management doesn't seem to care about retaining members. So, it's $95 a month or bye bye. This is not how any business should make members of 4+ years feel valued.

Don’t go here. They will push you into the contract, not offer you a free day, they will say anything to get you to sign the contract. They won’t tell you that you only have 3 days to cancel if you don’t like the gym. I was rushed into a contract and called him a week later saying that the gym wasn’t going to work out for me (I just didn’t end up liking it, it’s too small) and asked if can cancel, they were absolutely no help, one woman even yelled at me on the phone saying “you signed a contract.” I had $250 taken from me and I never once used their gym. They have no compassion or empathy for their clients, they are greedy and money hungry. They refuse to refund me. They make it very hard to cancel and charge so many fees to cancel.

2 words ! Silver Sneakers . Sadly after enjoying Powerhouse gym and building a class up to 30 people, the new Owners are charging Silver Sneakers seniors and not accepting Insurance as many high end gyms do . They still get paid but apparently not enough. With all the Florida special assessments this was not the time to get greedy with Senior population. Nobody enforces the banging weights , loud Moans & Groans from some of the younger show offs who love looking at themselves in the mirror . We who supported during trying times / Covid feel left at the curb . For the Rich & Famous crowd . I gave 2 stars both going to the wonderful Instructors for Seniors . Rogue has been great too .

I’ve been a member of powerhouse gym at the galleria mall since it opened in 2018. It was then and still is a much needed high level fitness facility in Fort Lauderdale
As time has passed they have continued to upgrade and add equipment and expand their group fitness and personal training offerings
Roque, the general manager has been in the fitness industry for over a decade and his experience has been key to maintaing the clubs high standards. Most importantly when things go wrong as they do at any facility the staff is diligent in rectifying issues promptly.
Over the years I have worked with a number of trainers there, each with their own areas of expertise.
Currently I have begun training with Alex Clairmont and find his knowledge and guidance to be extremely beneficial in working around some of my limitations as well as building on my strengths.
Looking forward to a continuing relationship with the club

One of the jokes with my family and friends is my lack of coordination. That said, training me in the gym is no easy task. Fortunately for me, Roque Medina is the trainer who helps me stay in a routine. He is kind and patient, even though he sometimes must show me how to do things more than once. He, along with the team, is always friendly and helpful. It is very common to see members of the staff (not just the management team) walking around the gym, greeting members, making sure that members are noticed yet not disturbed. Regardless of their position, everyone always smiles and is very welcoming. Eddie and Janet are just two examples; in their own way, they always have a smile and something friendly to say when you run into them while they are on duty. The gym is spotless. Every day I have been there, someone from the staff has constantly cleaned or performed daily maintenance on the workout equipment. These are things that some people may not notice, but when you have owned a business, you do. Good management teams cultivate an environment that promotes happy employees and, thus, happy customers. I appreciate Roque and his team's hard work, making my experience at Powerhouse Gym Fort Lauderdale a positive place to motivate me to work out.

I was enjoying my day playing some billiards and Joe (one of the employees at powerhouse) randomly mentioned this gym I’ve never heard of and told me I should check it out. I decided to give it a chance and I’m extremely glad I did. This is one of the cleanest and well thought out exercise facilities I’ve ever experience. I love the new equipment and the cool atmosphere! I ended up having one of the best workouts I’ve had in a while simple because of the vibes and the fact that there was a machine or some sort of equipment for every muscle I needed to hit. If I didn’t live so far away, I would have signed up for a membership the same day. I 10/10 would recommend this gym to anyone and everyone who is looking for a new workout spot. Joe is a great guy and very encouraging, I’m glad he invited me to this hidden gem. I see a bright future for him and I’m sure that any new comer or any person that regularly goes to Powerhouse gym would be delighted by his energy. 😎🤙

Both the PHG Fort Lauderdale and Miami locations are one of a kind. The locations are always clean, have great and unique equipment, have great hours both during week and on weekends, and have great staff.

This gym gets pretty busy in the mornings, but it's still easy to get around and find what I need. Eddy at the front desk is always a friendly face to start the day! Love that they have multiple chest press machines and plenty of cable stations. Good setup!

Powerhouse is a fully stacked gym with a great variety of equipment and cardio machines as well. Large spin studio and extra large multipurpose room for classes. A nice mix of clientele with all age ranges. Many "bros" who are members but some great comradery nonetheless with all members. The manager Roque is friendly and also makes you feel welcome. I have tried 3 other facilities in Ft. Lauderdale and this is my #1 go to. Clean sauna. Clean Showers and always trying to maintain cleanliness during all hours of the day. JOIN NOW!

In my short time at the gym I found it to be very clean and the equipment well maintained. The staff are exceptional especially Roque. PHG FTL is a great gym, with all the equipment and machines anyone could need for their exercise routine. It is well maintained and the staff is friendly and attentive. This place is so well managed. It was starting to fall apart with lots of maintenance issues before it switched ownership and hired a new General Manager. Not only is the gym exceptionally clean, but they feature a lot of interesting local businesses with services that appeal to their clientele. The only other gym I’ve enjoyed this much was equinox. I’d give 6 stars if I could.

I had taken a few years off from Powerhouse, but when I returned, I was welcomed by the new manager, who was incredibly accommodating and had such good vibes. It was a refreshing change from what I’m used to at commercial gyms. Roque even let me use a towel free of charge on my first day back until I set up my membership.

Upscale gym experience right near the beach. It's perfect for a solid strength training workout (they have just about everything that you would need), and then you can follow the workout with a run on the beach! Overall vibe is a few steps above the $20/month gyms in the area, which makes it worth it! They are also doing a lot of local marketing and mixing events for their clients! I strongly recommend!

These employees really care about how this place looks and management goes above and beyond to give this gym a little something extra special for it's clients. Compact, efficient, it is literally the powerhouse of gyms. The sauna and large, super clean showers are awesome. For the price it’s nothing special. I think a lot of people go to this gym in FTL because there aren’t many other “upscale” gyms in the area. The place used to be very nice with newer equipment that was kept in pristine condition. However, since the owner passed, the place has gone downhill. A lot of machines are broken and unusable. The screens on the treadmill you can barely read because the lights that illuminate the lights are malfunctioning. A number of machines are beginning to rust and rip. The rubber floor is dirty and beginning to wear away in some areas. The machines aren’t bolted to the floor so they tend to shift around. Some will be so close to others that is awkward to work out on them. Also, for the price of the membership, the only brand of machines that should be used is TechnoGym.

EDIT: I appreciate that Roque, the general manager of Powerhouse Gym Fort Lauderdale, reached out to let me personally to let me know improvements are in store since his recent appointment to GM of the gym. Increasing my rating because of his customer service.

I’ve been to planet fitness, La fitness and Youfit and this gym is totally different. More advanced machines and machines I’ve never seen before! The machine below is made in Italy and they said one of a kind! Nobody else has it. Made my butt so sore!
